00:03Welcome, everybody. We are going to be talking all things Dallas Cowboys in this coming NFL
00:08draft, and we are joined by the one and the only Mickey Spagnola, a DallasCowboys.com
00:13columnist. Mick, when you're looking ahead to this weekend, what do you think is most
00:20different about this draft than the many of others you've covered?
00:23Well, it's a little different in the fact that they've got two first-round picks.
00:30Now, this has happened previously in their history, but it's been a while, not since
00:362008. So the fact that they got two first-round picks, I think they've got to be able to take
00:44advantage of that. One of the things that I've discovered is that when they're picking between
00:50one and 17, they're usually pretty good. They're usually hitting a lot of good players along
00:58the way. So that pick at 12 should be a credible player, a future Pro Bowl player, what you're
01:09hoping for. And then 20, you can be versatile at that. But as for being somewhat different,
01:17just the fact that once again, two years in a row, almost three years in a row, you're in that
01:24top
01:2415 of the draft. When you look at that second pick right now that's at 20, do you see the
01:30Cowboys
01:30trading up into that sweet 17 of yours? Do you see them trading down? What is the likelihood that
01:36we could see either happen? Yeah, I think the likelihood is probably trading down because they
01:41don't have much from draft capital to trade up. You don't have a second-round pick. You have only
01:50one-third. You have a fourth. And to be able to trade up, somebody's going to want that third-round
01:57pick.
01:58They might want more than that and maybe something next year. I think quality and quantity have to be
02:07even in this draft for the Cowboys. I think they need more picks if they can find them. So trading
02:16down
02:17and then come up with quality guys if they can get another second-day pick with that 20th pick.
02:25Because I think if I'm looking at a lot of the mock drafts, and they call them mock for a
02:31reason,
02:32right? So it's not the Bible. But from 20 to about 25 or 26 in a lot of these drafts
02:40predictions,
02:43teams are taking players at positions the Cowboys don't need. So if you're at 20 and say there's three
02:51defensive players you wouldn't mind having, well then trade down to maybe 25. And the percentages are
02:58one of those three players is still going to be there.
