00:00So your latest column, um, where you basically have six of your mocks, you'll have your official
00:07mock later in the week, but you have six different types of mock skins, drafts, you know,
00:14commanders drafts, you have what you call your best bet draft, one that you call your leadership
00:21council, which is, you know, team captains and really good guys draft. You've got, Hey,
00:26it's all about 2026 draft. You've got a draft in which they're just taking the best freakish
00:32athletes draft. You've got a draft called out of range and you've got a draft called YOLO.
00:39You only live once, which was your favorite to do. Uh, well, I mean, you know, the YOLO one,
00:47I mean, you know, I'm not drafting like nobody's watching kind of deal. Right. Just made lots of
00:53trades. The kids got the keys and the parents are sound asleep. Look out highways.
01:00Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, look, I, I, as we've discussed, I think we can debate that what their
01:06top actual need is on the football field, but I think their top need overall is more picks.
01:11Um, and the debate is how far would they be willing to drop down because there does seem to be
01:16a real
01:18decline somewhere around picks 10 to 12, depending on, you know, your board. So how far would they
01:23go? But if you're going to go down, you might as well go all the way down because I don't
01:28think
01:28the difference between say picks 13 and 14 into the second round is viewed as that dramatic. So
01:34yeah, I mean, that one to me is the most fun trading down. I think I had four different trades
01:38and just to be clear, like, I'm not like, I take this all way too seriously. So I looked at
01:43the draft,
01:44the trades individually involved, would this make sense for everybody involved and not just like,
01:49you know, trading them down for three number, a few feature ones or anything like that. So,
01:54uh, you know, I think these are all realistic. It does, I don't, you know, would they make four
01:57trades to drop all the way down? I mean, that's a whole other story.
02:01So you're, you only live once you, you, I mean, I'm not going to give away all the others,
02:07but this one is an interesting one because it really would be, I think applauded by everybody.
02:13The only way it wouldn't be applauded. I'm telling you is if Jeremiah Love is on the board
02:18at seven. Um, but you essentially start the trade back process with the Rams, uh, at 13,
02:26uh, picking up, um, a second rounder and a fourth rounder. And then you deal that pick again,
02:32the 13 to the Steelers, and they end up selecting at number 21 in the first round, but they pick
02:40up
02:40another second rounder and another fourth rounder. And then ultimately they deal one of their third
02:47rounders for three more picks and a, a fourth rounder for another three picks. So how many picks
02:52do they end up with in your, you only live once mock draft? Well, they actually only end up with
03:00seven for this year because I took three of the picks later on and move them and trade them up
03:06to
03:06consolidate to get 2027 round pick. Yeah. Plus, plus some of the, right. Some of the,
03:13the, the trade assets that they get or for 2027 picks as well. So ultimately it's only seven.
03:20It's just that it's now five in the top 100, as opposed to the current two next year.
03:30Right. Right. So, I mean, it's a lot of maneuvering. Uh, but like I said, if you're going to fall
03:35out of
03:35that top, you know, 10, 12 picks, go for it, just keep going down and, you know, we'll see what
03:44teams want to trade up, but you know, the Steelers have the most picks in the whole draft. So them
03:50to
03:50move up to take an offensive lineman that they need. Sure. Go, go, go, go ahead. You know, there's,
03:55there's justification for why these other teams would do it. It's not just saying, well, Washington's
03:59going to, I'm going to jam this down the, jam this down some other team's throat that doesn't want
04:03to make a move. So yeah, I mean, to get a lot of extra picks and pick for next year,
04:08I think would
04:08be a really good way to go if they don't stay at, uh, seven. At seven. So I know I've
04:15asked you this
04:15before, but I'll ask it again, since we're now just three days away, who at seven would they
04:23absolutely take versus entertaining trade back opportunities? Let's just assume that they're there.
04:32Yeah. I, I think if Jeremiah love or, or Sonny styles were there at seven, I think they would
04:38take those, those two, um, you know, obviously the offensively, they still need playmakers.
04:45You know, they, uh, don't ideally would probably be a receiver, but Jeremiah love is a view by many
04:51is not just the best player in the draft. And obviously he's a tremendous receiver as well
04:55as a running back. So that would be a fun way to go there. And for styles, you know,
04:59obviously the athleticism is off the charts. He would be a really interesting chess piece to go
05:04with this new Durante Jones, uh, system. And, you know, again, if you look at the Adam Peters draft
05:11history so far in the two years here, they've had 14 picks and each one of those picks has been
05:18rated in sort of the top echelon of athlete, according to the RAS score, the relative athletic
05:24score. And, you know, that it's not the end all be all, but that's what they have done so far.
05:29So,
05:29so Sonny styles would be, and love would be absolute, uh, home runs in that regard.
05:36Um, all right. What, you know, in, in kind of looking at the various scenarios, uh, in the first round,
05:45you know, what would be kind of the best case for those that want a trade back? Like as this
05:51draft
05:52is going along, what are the early indicators you think of something that would set up a possibility
05:58for Washington to trade back?
06:03Yeah. So again, if we're, you know, what I'm asking back then? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah.
06:09So assuming those guys are gone or they would watch them and pick, so we'll ignore, ignore them. I,
06:16there's been a lot of talk over the last few days about Jordan Tyson, the Arizona statewide receiver,
06:21um, you know, considered to be the most talented receiver in the draft, but his injury history is
06:26pretty significant. So the question is, you know, what do teams think of that? Well,
06:29let's just say the teams are cool with his history. You know, the saints at eight and the chiefs at
06:35nine,
06:36there's a, it feels like they have like a lot of the similar interests, whether that's Tyson,
06:40whether that's Reuben Bain, uh, the chiefs have a bunch of picks. I could see the chiefs,
06:45you know, they're not like an extraordinary amount of picks, but like, you know,
06:47they're a team that's obviously going for it. You know, they're, they're in the Superbowl mix.
06:52So despite last year, so I think I could see the chiefs making a jump of the saints. And I
06:56know that's
06:57only two picks. So the return isn't tremendous, but it keeps you within the top 11 and gets you
07:03extra stuff. Not a second, maybe not even a third, but it gets you extra stuff. I think that to
07:08me
07:08is interesting. Other than that, I don't know. I mean, the giants are at 10, you know, division
07:14trades. I don't know if the giants are going to want to move back up now. The dolphins are at
07:1811.
07:19They have a lot of picks, but they're completely in a rebuild mode. So unless they want to consolidate
07:23some picks because again, this is not viewed as a great trap, at least at the top, maybe they could
07:28do it 12 Dallas. I mean, you know, I don't know if we're seeing that trade happen. And you know,
07:33so I think that like the Jordan Tyson, Reuben Bain scenario with the saints and she's honestly
07:39might be the best hope. Again, it's only a couple of picks, but you know, for a team with only
07:44six
07:45draft picks right now, getting anything else else would be good. And then beyond that, I would just say,
07:49you know, the Rams at 13, you know, we know what their slogan was a few years ago that the
07:53F them
07:54picks if they, and I don't understand why they would be looking at anything, but this coming
07:59year because of Matthew Stafford situation. So if they decide, Hey, we've got to move up to get
08:05whatever an offensive lineman, you know, another receiver, whatever it might be, I could see them
08:13saying, let's just go for it. And then Washington could be the beneficiary there, but those would
08:17probably be the ones that could see the most. I think Ty Simpson goes in the first round. I don't
08:22think he's going to go top 10 though. So that would be, you know, ideal ideal, but I don't think
08:27that's going to happen. Yeah. I think actually, if the Rams hadn't traded their second first round
08:32pick to Kansas city for McDuffie, Ty Simpson would have made a lot of sense there, but to your point,
08:37you know, the benefit of getting Ty Simpson at the end of the first round versus the early part of
08:43the
08:43second round is you get the fifth year option on the player because he was a first round pick real
08:49quickly. Cause I got to run, but did you, did you know what, what, um, Adam Schefter reported? I didn't
08:55know if that was something that I just completely missed or had forgotten that Washington was
08:59planning on pursuing Aaron Jones last off season before he resigned with Minnesota.
09:06Uh, I had not heard that. I mean, obviously we, we saw what they did with Brian Robinson. So,
09:12you know, they, they could have, you know, my guess is that the thought on moving Hipper
09:16off from him was not just in training camp, but probably before. So sure. I mean, I, I don't
09:21know that I would have thought that would be a great trade, but sure. I mean, no, but no,
09:25I had not heard that before. All right. Thanks. Talk to you. Uh, we'll figure out the rest
09:29of the week. Appreciate it. Yeah, man. See ya. Ben standing, everybody.
