00:00Former President Roman Radev has won Bulgaria's election by a landslide, according to official results.
00:08It is one of the strongest performances for a single party in decades,
00:12and could bring an end, at least for now, to years of political instability that led to eight elections in
00:20five years.
00:22Radev's progressive Bulgaria party secured 44.7% of the vote, with nearly 92% of ballots counted,
00:29putting it in a position where it may be able to govern alone.
00:33Radev, known to be pro-Russia, is a Eurosceptic,
00:36however he has not ruled out working together with a pro-European group or a smaller party to form a
00:41coalition.
00:42Radev stepped down from Bulgaria's largely ceremonial presidency in January
00:47to run in the parliamentary election after mass protests brought down the previous government in December.
00:52His campaign tapped into widespread frustration over political instability in the country of 6.5 million.
00:59where voters are tired of corruption and veteran parties that have dominated politics for decades.
