Bulgaria's former President Rumen Radev win parliamentary election by landslide

Radev’s political stance has drawn considerable attention internationally. During his presidency, he repeatedly opposed sending military aid to Ukraine and has been critical of European Union policies in that regard.

00:04Former Bulgarian President Roumen Radev is set to win the country's parliamentary elections.
00:10With almost all votes counted, Radev won around 45 percent of the vote,
00:16putting him on course to gain some 130 seats in the 240-seat parliament.
00:22The Liberal PPDB coalition is well behind at 15 percent and former Prime Minister Boiko Borisov's conservative Gerb party at

00:34This was Bulgaria's eighth election in the last five years.
00:39Radev ran on a pledge to fight corruption after an anti-graft movement triggered a long political crisis.
00:47He stepped down from the presidency in January to lead the movement and has promised to dismantle what he calls
00:54an oligarchic system.
00:56In terms of EU policy, Radev opposes sending arms to Ukraine seeking closer ties with the Kremlin.
