Rich Holiday Poor Holiday - Season 5 - Episode 03
Transcript
00:00Woohoo!
00:02Rich holidays...
00:03Look at that.
00:04I can't imagine waking up to that every morning.
00:06...are the stuff of dreams...
00:08Oh, my God!
00:09We've got our own plunge post days.
00:12...but can cheap getaways...
00:14...be just as fun?
00:16I'm having a good time!
00:18I'm not getting in that.
00:19...for the first time, wealthy jet-setters...
00:22This is the life.
00:23...and hard-up holiday-makers...
00:26They do look really post.
00:28...travel together...
00:29...on two wildly different trips.
00:32Do you guys drink alcohol?
00:33No.
00:34At all?
00:34No.
00:35...to experience each other's idea of the perfect break.
00:39The universe is really powerful.
00:40If only positivity could pay the bills.
00:42Can the rich rough it?
00:44There is no way on God's green earth...
00:46...that you or me are going in this.
00:48Can the less wealthy stomach lavish luxury?
00:51I'm going to be sick.
00:52I hate that you made me touch seafood. How about that?
00:55And at the end...
00:58...134,000.
00:59You could buy my house and landscape my garden.
01:02Will one family's holiday heaven...
01:04Give me off, give me off, give me off, give me off.
01:06...be another's holiday hell?
01:08Let's get mashed up.
01:09Absolutely not.
01:10This is possibly going to be the worst holiday I've ever been on.
01:14Pumping Market to Escape!
01:19Hertfordshire...
01:20...home to Party Pals Jemma and Stacy
01:22Has your camera got a filter?
01:24..who have a thing for fancy dress and inflatables.
01:28Party!
01:29Absolutely love a karaoke.
01:31Love dress up, love a little drink, as well.
01:34Little drinky, please.
01:36For these 44-year-old besties, nights out are always on the cheap.
01:41We're masters of saving money.
01:43Once I actually gave a sob story of what was going on in my life
01:46and I got a free bottle of champagne.
01:50Friends since school, nothing is off the table for these single mums.
01:57We feel like we're reliving our teen years.
02:00Reliving our youth 100%, yeah.
02:02Because we were quite young when we had our kids.
02:05Yeah.
02:05We both didn't go out for years, did we?
02:08No.
02:09With six kids between them,
02:11both Gemma and Stacey scrape by on Universal Credit.
02:15I do feel like people look down their nose at people on benefits,
02:19but sometimes we can't even afford a tin of beans.
02:23With a little over a grand a month to cover rent, bills and food,
02:27disposal income is a pipe dream.
02:30The prices of gas, electric food, water is making us struggle.
02:34I don't have anything left over.
02:37Gemma, a cleaner, has been signed off with health issues.
02:40I am desperate to go back to work.
02:42I don't like the thought of people thinking that I'm poncing.
02:47While Stacey has a hands full homeschooling her youngest.
02:50My eight-year-old daughter, Evie, she has some special needs,
02:54so I've had to give up my job to care for her.
02:58When it comes to holidays, a bargain bucket break to Brighton or Benidorm is all they can stretch to.
03:04Oh, the shower caps.
03:06That was the best.
03:07That was a great day.
03:08We love a chippy on the beach, a few little cans, love a swim, love a little water slide as
03:16well.
03:16A luxury break is out of reach, but the friends can dream.
03:20Somewhere in Greece, turquoise waters.
03:24Yeah, beautiful.
03:26But high-end holidaying with rich strangers does hold some fear.
03:31I don't think we're fitting in a posh place just because we're quite commonly spoke and the food might not
03:38be for us.
03:38I just don't like fish. I like cod in batter and I like a fish finger, but I don't like
03:45a fishy fish.
03:46Straight-laced people wouldn't get us.
03:48If our travel companions are boring, they won't be by the time they come up.
03:52Yeah, absolutely.
03:53We'll show them what it's like to let you in.
03:54Yeah, they ain't going to want to go back to their rich lives after.
04:02970 miles away in Barcelona live 30-somethings James and Isabella.
04:08They're two years into a whirlwind romance.
04:11I was crossing the street and he was crossing the opposite direction and then he stopped me in the middle
04:18of the street and asked me out for a coffee.
04:20I knew from the first day that he was a person that I wanted to have in my life.
04:24And she's hot.
04:27Charmer James is a super yacht broker, a jet-set job that sees the cash rolling in.
04:33I have lots of different clients come to me who want to spend a hell of a lot of money.
04:36They can be chartering yachts which are the value of two million pounds a week.
04:40While Brazilian Isabella makes her mint as a family lawyer.
04:44I do divorces and child support and the nastier you get, the more money I get.
04:49They work hard, but spend harder.
04:52I do like Ralph Lauren's shirts. I have a rather large collection of those.
04:56From designer gear to fancy food.
05:00I prefer way more just to have a nice dinner with a nice glass of wine.
05:05Thank you, love.
05:06Having gastronomical experiences for me is very important.
05:09But their biggest splurge is on luxury travel.
05:13We go to the best places pretty much with the most luxurious hotels.
05:17In two years they've had 29 holidays and happily dropped 12 grand on a single trip.
05:24Iceland was the most expensive because we rented a cabin with a private hot tub to watch the modern lights.
05:33It's about exclusivity.
05:35Personal hell for me on holiday would definitely be a bar or a loud nightclub with lots and lots of
05:40drunk people.
05:43So, why are they willing to sacrifice five-star exclusivity for a budget break?
05:48So, it's a big opportunity to expand my horizons and learning something new.
05:52I think that everybody you meet in life, you can learn something.
05:55So, I'm very much looking forward to it.
05:58Be careful what you wish for.
06:00It's the moment of truth.
06:04The pairs will be spending a week together in the same country, but on two very different trips.
06:10So curious.
06:11The first holiday to be put to the test, a cheap as chips Gemma and Stacey style break.
06:16Are you ready?
06:18Yes.
06:19We're going to Zante.
06:21The Greece, no way!
06:23First stop, a budget break in a basic apartment next to the vibrant Zante Strip.
06:28Famous for its bars, clubs and partying Brits abroad.
06:32Oh no!
06:36Okay then.
06:37In the Ionian Sea, Zante is an island of two halves.
06:41From deserted beaches and exclusive resorts to a boozy budget holiday hotspot.
06:48Every summer, millions of Brits flock to its southern shores to tan by day and get tanked up by night.
06:55For the first half of the week, the pairs are heading to the party capital, Lagunas, and staying in the
07:01basic apartment with uninterrupted views of the Strip.
07:05Hey!
07:07Hey!
07:08It's Lampy!
07:09Here we go!
07:09Woo-woo!
07:10Let's have it!
07:11Brilliant!
07:12I'm so happy.
07:13I've always wanted to go to Santa.
07:15It's day one.
07:17Let's get packing then.
07:18Well, I know what I'm bringing.
07:20Shirts.
07:22And I don't actually have anything to go party.
07:24Packing for the island's vibrant nightlife might be posing a problem for Isabella.
07:29I've got all the essentials.
07:31I've got the willy straws, of course, for me and Gem.
07:34But Stacey and Gemma have no such worries.
07:37I've got my handcuffs.
07:38I've got my police uniform already.
07:44It's a three and a half hour flight to Lagunas.
07:48Woo-woo!
07:49Hello, Zante!
07:51BJ's.
07:51Ooh!
07:54What did you get in there?
07:55We're in the perfect place by the looks of it.
07:58It looks amazing.
08:01Oh, wow.
08:02This is quite something.
08:03Definitely not our jam.
08:05Jet-setting James and Isabella are more used to the northern lights than neon lights.
08:10Club after club after club.
08:12Oh, dearie me.
08:14The pairs are meeting for the first time at their low-cost self-catering accommodation.
08:19God, it's going to make my shoes dirty.
08:22I want my nice espadrules.
08:24After checking into their no-fills first floor apartments.
08:31Oh, is it that bad, love?
08:33It stinks.
08:37What?
08:38What?
08:40That is disgusting.
08:41Look at the tiles.
08:42Look, look.
08:44Mate, there's nothing good about this place.
08:47It's a far cry from five-star Iceland.
08:51That's like lying on a piece of wood.
08:54This is way out of our comfort zone, isn't it?
08:56Wow, I believe this is way out of anybody's comfort zone.
09:01Yeah, this is absolutely perfect.
09:03As for Gemma and Stacey...
09:06Yeah, this is fun.
09:07I love it.
09:08Happy days.
09:09Is your pet comfy?
09:11Yeah.
09:12It ought, but it'll do.
09:15I think it's lovely in here.
09:17We've got everything we need, so I'm more than happy.
09:19This is definitely not a place where I would like to be.
09:21Not classy.
09:22Can we even stay here?
09:24I don't even know.
09:24I'm not sure.
09:26James and Isabella are already thinking about throwing in the towel.
09:30And that's before they've even met their holiday companions.
09:34I'm really nervous now.
09:36I'm actually nervous.
09:38It's crunch time.
09:39Hey!
09:41Nice to meet you, James.
09:43Hi, I'm Isabella.
09:44Oh, my God.
09:46They do look really posh.
09:48Their clothes, they look expensive.
09:51And me and Stacey have literally rocked up today in matching TikTok outfits.
09:55Sorry.
09:56We've both been in Barcelona.
09:58Yeah, we've been there for about eight years.
09:59Oh, lovely.
10:01Not jealous at all.
10:04Stacey and Gemma, interesting characters.
10:06Probably not our type of people.
10:08Nicesty's out of the way.
10:10It's time for a proper grilling.
10:11So, how well off are you guys then?
10:14You're really, really well off, I take it.
10:18Quite direct.
10:19I don't know what to think.
10:21James and Isabella were really shocked.
10:25I would have probably been a bit more so.
10:27I'm a lawyer.
10:28Lovely.
10:28I work with family law, so divorce, child support, this kind of thing.
10:33And I'm a yacht broker.
10:35Oh.
10:36So, I sell and charter yachts.
10:38Oh, lovely.
10:39Throughout the world.
10:40So, how much do you have a month, say, to spare and dispose of and do whatever you like with?
10:49I would say probably around $4,000 or $5,000 or something.
10:53Wow!
10:54I was absolutely gobsmacked by that.
10:57Like, £5,000 is like five months benefit money for us.
11:01Are we, what you thought we was going to be like?
11:04Honestly, yeah, we were expected for 19, 20 year olds.
11:07Oh, no.
11:08I'd go partying and want to be out till late hours in the night.
11:11Okay.
11:11That's not really us, if we're honest.
11:14You have definitely got a party, Gemma and Stacey style, I'm afraid.
11:17We like to let our hair down, meet people.
11:20Yeah.
11:21Socialise, have fun.
11:22I'm not really sure about that.
11:24Don't really like being told what I can and can't do.
11:27I think I can count on my fingers how many times I went to a club.
11:30Oh, okay.
11:32I think we're probably going to clash a little bit with the lifestyle of Gemma and Stacey.
11:36They're going to think that we are boring and we think they are too loud.
11:40It's not just Gemma and Stacey's partying that could be problematic.
11:43Both pairs will also be surviving on the besties' usual holiday budget.
11:4955, 75, 95, 115.
11:55Each pair is just 135 euros to cover food and activities.
12:01It's more or less what we spend in one dinner on average when we go through the holidays.
12:06On one dinner?
12:07Yeah.
12:08Wow.
12:09I don't think James and Isabella are going to cope very well with the budget at all.
12:14And...
12:16So, you are going to embrace this holiday and party Gemma and Stacey style.
12:21What do you think?
12:22This is possibly going to be one of the worst holidays I've ever been on.
12:27Coming up...
12:29James and Isabella get a crash course in budget holidays.
12:32Yeah, that's definitely not my sin.
12:34But will they go the distance?
12:36Absolutely not.
12:38Time to go.
12:39We didn't even get a goodbye.
12:41Sodom.
12:50A pair of hard-up party pals...
12:53Lamb tea, here we go!
12:55Let's have it!
12:56...are showing a jet-setting couple...
12:58That is disgusting, mate.
13:00...how to holiday on the cheap.
13:01It's more or less what we spend in one dinner.
13:04Wow!
13:05But it's off to a rocky start.
13:06Argh!
13:08This is possibly going to be one of the worst holidays I've ever been on.
13:13It's the first morning in Zanty.
13:15And Gemma and Stacey are already hitting the strip.
13:19Ooh! They're doing English.
13:20Oh, this looks alright.
13:22Cheap and cheerful.
13:23In search of grub.
13:25Hi, morning.
13:26Can we have four full English breakfasts, please?
13:30With just €135 per pair for the first half of the week,
13:34the girls are ordering for James and Isabella
13:37to show them the budgeting ropes.
13:39And then can we have two cans of Coke, but with four glasses?
13:42Yes, you can.
13:43That'll be it, thank you.
13:45Thank you very much.
13:46Hey!
13:48How's it going?
13:49We have ordered for you, I hope that's alright.
13:52We're going to share a can of Coke as well.
13:54Two glasses for us, two cans of Coke.
13:56Ah, they ordered Coke for a breakfast.
13:59What does that?
14:00James and Isabella were horrified,
14:02but sharing the cans.
14:04These are the kind of things we do
14:05to save money on a budget.
14:08Thank you!
14:09It's not just cheap brekkies they'll have to get used to.
14:12The activities will be budget too.
14:15So what's in store?
14:17Oh, no.
14:18A bikini brunch pool party.
14:20I think we might be hiding in the corner.
14:24I'm a little bit nervous because this is not my scene.
14:27A day out of the water park.
14:28Do you like water slides?
14:31OK.
14:33In a bar crowd, this is Zanti strip.
14:36Hooray!
14:37Zanti strip, my idea of hell, it's just not for me.
14:42Not the normal breakfast for us, is it?
14:44More like a toast and some cheese and some salmon, avocado.
14:48Don't think it's up their street at all.
14:50English breakfast is not my thing.
14:53Not healthy.
14:55It's quite expensive to eat healthy though.
14:57That's what we were saying, weren't we?
14:58Yeah.
14:59And how much would you spend then on a weekly shop?
15:02I get sort of £1,000 a month off of Universal Credit.
15:06And out of that has to come the rent.
15:09And then the gas and electric.
15:10Council tax and water.
15:12We're normally left with around about £50 a week for food.
15:16Yeah.
15:17Wow.
15:18That's very impressive that I can manage that.
15:22It's not an easy life for Dan.
15:24Time to settle up.
15:26A total of €48 for all four.
15:29We're on not a budget for our holiday.
15:32If we could just have a nice round €40.
15:35Deal.
15:35You can, thank you.
15:39The haggling bit got me.
15:41Having to watch the pennies, it's not something we're used to.
15:43We're usually to spend without much concern.
15:46And yeah, that one did hit home.
15:48Back at the apartment block, the pairs are gearing up for the bikini brunch.
15:53What do they think?
15:54You look great.
15:55They look good?
15:55Yeah.
15:56More used to champagne yacht parties, James and Isabella have opted for stylish elegance.
16:02Have some cuffs. I've got cuffs.
16:04While Gemma and Stacey have gone with cheeky copper and saucy sailor.
16:09Yeah.
16:10We're rocking it.
16:12Let's have it.
16:15Their outfits were ridiculous.
16:17I really wondered what the hell we were getting ourselves into.
16:21Time to hit the pool.
16:23Hiya.
16:24Hi.
16:25Oh, hello.
16:26Gemma.
16:27Oh, thank you very much.
16:31As long as we got to the pool party, they already offered us a shot.
16:35Cheers, guys.
16:36Whoo.
16:38This is not my scene.
16:42My biggest fear just came through.
16:44You what?
16:46Yeah.
16:46No.
16:47It's chaos.
16:48The music was so loud.
16:50That's not my idea of a day in the pool.
16:53But at 30 quid each, it's a bargain day out.
16:56With DJs dropping beats in the heat.
16:59Whoop, whoop, whoop.
17:01A refreshing pool.
17:02Swim up top.
17:04Never done one of them.
17:05And a bottomless liquid brunch.
17:08It's definitely my and Gemma's kind of vibe.
17:11Would you like a top?
17:12Absolutely not.
17:13Get me out of here.
17:14But it's not going down well with James and Isabella.
17:17People flying vodka around everywhere, pouring it into each other's mouths.
17:21It's pretty rank.
17:22It's unhygienic and just not cool.
17:25No, I don't share bottles.
17:27It's disgusting.
17:29It's just disgusting.
17:31Isabella and James are a lot older for their age.
17:36It did feel a little bit like we was out of our parents.
17:42To Gemma and Stacey, age is just a number.
17:47Big kids, let's be honest.
17:49I mean, I love their energy, but you know.
17:51How old are they? 44, 45?
17:53So I love a swimming pool.
17:55And I did decide to take a dip.
17:57It's called James.
17:59More use to a private hot tub for two.
18:02For Isabella, the water is a no-go.
18:04No, people are drinking too much.
18:06I'm sure nobody's going to the bathroom to relieve themselves.
18:09They're just doing this in the water.
18:10Like, no, sorry, but no.
18:12That's for me.
18:13Yeah, me and Gemma was a bit squinted.
18:15Isabella didn't get in and have a swim with us.
18:17So, what's the verdict? Party paradise or holiday hell?
18:21It was a little bit cringy for me.
18:23And just not my vibe at all.
18:25I think it was absolutely worth it.
18:28We laughed and we danced and we've had a great day.
18:33It's a new day in Laganes.
18:35Good morning.
18:37Morning.
18:38And there's yet more aquatic thrills in store.
18:42It's a firm favourite of the young at heart mums.
18:44A day at the water park.
18:46I used to love water parks.
18:48Not sure if I still do.
18:50Is this going to be a day we're going to enjoy?
18:52Hi.
18:53Hello.
18:53Hello.
18:54At £22 each for the whole day.
18:59Thank you, everyone.
19:00It's cheap and cheerful fun in the sun.
19:02Is it your kind of scene or...?
19:04Not really.
19:05Not really.
19:06There's kids everywhere.
19:07Lots of kids around.
19:10Isabella wouldn't set foot in the water at the pool party.
19:13So today, Gemma and Stacey aren't taking no for an answer.
19:17Come on!
19:18Come on!
19:18It's straight to the big one.
19:20Let's just secure the hair.
19:22The hair is not going to get wet.
19:25Do you guys want to wear one of my shower towels?
19:27Well, I think I've got it securely.
19:28Get it on!
19:29Yay!
19:31Yes, James!
19:32So is it a race to the bottom, guys?
19:34It's a race to the bottom.
19:35Right.
19:37Two.
19:38Three.
19:38Go!
19:39I don't think I can do that.
19:47It was really fun.
19:49I love the adrenaline.
19:50Although I got my hair wide, it was very, very fun.
19:53I did have a little bit of a scare on a water slide.
19:58I panicked a little bit.
19:59But they all encouraged me to calm down, and I've done it in the end.
20:03And I didn't lose my shower cap.
20:10Brilliant time.
20:12Racing down there and ending up into the water.
20:15Boom.
20:17That absolutely made my day.
20:19Brilliant.
20:20I've seen them two have a good time today and embracing it.
20:27With the sun setting, it's time for the big night out on the Laguna Strip.
20:31I'm so excited for this.
20:34For Gemma and Stacey, it's a chance to really let loose and forget home hardships.
20:39It's anti-strip.
20:41My idea of hell.
20:43And accessorized by Gemma and Stacey, it couldn't be further from James and Isabella's bougie Barcelona date nights.
20:50Not my vibe.
20:52So bad.
20:53I didn't find one single nice place there.
20:56Yeah.
20:56Not cool.
20:57Are we going into the loft tonight?
20:58Yes.
20:59Go upstairs.
21:00Let's get popped up.
21:01Yeah!
21:02100%.
21:03Let's get mashed up.
21:04A very interesting woman came out with a unicorn on her head, trying to get us into the bar, using
21:09all sorts of foul language.
21:11Absolutely not.
21:12Time to go.
21:13While Gemma and Stacey head on up, James and Isabella make a sharp exit.
21:19Me and Stacey went in, ordered some drinks.
21:23We've only got 10 euros left and we both want to drink it.
21:26And a shot.
21:27Yeah.
21:27We'll just do it for him.
21:28Yeah.
21:30No shows.
21:31We didn't even get a good buy.
21:32I'm really disappointed, to be honest.
21:34I'm actually speechless.
21:36Sod them.
21:39Cheers, girl.
21:39No, we'll do Al.
21:40Al, no, Al instead.
21:44As Gemma and Stacey party the night away on the cheap.
21:48Hi.
21:48Are you ready?
21:49Yes, sir.
21:50Yes, please.
21:50Yes, please.
21:51So, we're going to have the Zatsi, the cheese pies with honey.
21:56Isabella and James are going off menu.
21:59Would you like to pay by cash or card?
22:00Card, please.
22:01And way off budget, with a 40 euro takeout from their own wallet.
22:06I don't care anymore.
22:07I want a nice meal.
22:09Sorry, but we had two sheets tonight.
22:11I'm glad we're having a nice dinner together.
22:13Me too.
22:14Date night.
22:15Honestly, it's probably the best part of the holiday so far.
22:20It's the final morning and last activity of the budget holiday.
22:24A freebie beach day, but there could be a storm brewing.
22:28Quite nervous about seeing Stacey and Gemma this morning.
22:32Purely on the basis that we did leave the night a little bit early.
22:36Well, fancy seeing you here.
22:38Still a little bit disappointed in them both.
22:41I thought you was going to try a little bit harder.
22:43Oh.
22:44I did feel like that.
22:45Because it was only for one night out of your life.
22:48A bit of a breaking point when the unicorn lady was up in our face.
22:52Okay.
22:52We were quite hungry as well and we thought, just wanted a bit of peace.
22:56We decided, you know, that we would just sort of slip away.
23:00I'm sorry.
23:00We come across a really nice Greek restaurant and I'm sorry girls, but we have a bit of confession to
23:06make.
23:06We kind of blown the budget by around the 40 euros.
23:10Oh, guys.
23:11A little bit disappointed that they've gone off and spent their own money.
23:15Well, they could have bought us back takeout.
23:17Yeah, they could have treated us to a nice meal.
23:19Where's my tzatziki?
23:20Okay.
23:21So you wouldn't actually cope on the budget holiday, you don't think?
23:25Technically, no.
23:26In fact, definitely not.
23:27No.
23:29Well, we're just happy you're not too mad with us.
23:31No.
23:32No, definitely not.
23:33They were a bit upset, but we cleared the air.
23:36Game of volleyball then?
23:37Give it a try.
23:38Yeah, let's go.
23:39Let's just go.
23:39Let's do this.
23:40And decided to move forward and continue to enjoy the holiday.
23:43Gem.
23:44Oh!
23:45Shit!
23:50The budget part of the break is almost over, but there's time for a quick debrief.
23:55So how do you feel about the holiday and on a budget, Gemma and Stacey's stuff?
23:59It's not something we would do a lot of the things for the water park, the pool party,
24:03but we did our best to get involved.
24:06I think sometimes it's good to get out of your bubble.
24:08And now perhaps on the next holiday I would put a water park in the middle.
24:12Oh, that's good then.
24:13Because I had a really good time then.
24:14I think we've come away feeling like we've learned some good things from you too.
24:19And being with your energy, I really love this.
24:21Oh, that's brilliant.
24:22That's good to know.
24:24But the million dollar question, how much did it cost?
24:28The total bill for your holidays is...
24:30Wow.
24:31...930 pounds.
24:33Wow.
24:34465 for each pair.
24:35Yeah.
24:36Wow, you're good girls.
24:38Yeah.
24:38That's what we have to get on with and we absolutely love what we did.
24:41We were pretty shocked, to be fair, at how cheap actually the holiday was.
24:46This has taught me to perhaps maybe think about that a little bit more,
24:50where your money's actually going.
24:51I feel like it's humbled them slightly.
24:54Now for a huge gear change.
24:57It's time to turn the tables.
24:58In the envelope is the destination of the luxury holiday a la James and Isabella.
25:03A five star, boutique, adults only hotel.
25:08That sounds right up your street.
25:11On the calm east coast of the island where the wealthy guests are treated to serenity, relaxation and exclusive fine
25:19dining experiences.
25:21I feel like I'm going to cry.
25:22Bye.
25:23The foursome will be diving into the ultimate all expenses paid luxury holiday at the boutique Contesina Spa Hotel.
25:32They'll have exclusive suites with their very own plunge pulls.
25:36Just one night here is more than the cost of the whole budget holiday per pair.
25:42This sounds absolutely lovely.
25:44It sounds like this world, I can't even imagine what that's going to be like.
25:48So I feel really emotional, slightly nervous, but I'm going to get going and see how the other half live
25:54now.
25:54I'm going to maybe feel a little bit...
25:56Out of our comfort.
25:57Out of our comfort zone, yeah.
25:59We'll take care of you, don't worry.
26:00Okay, thank you.
26:02And now we're going to enjoy James and Isabella's style.
26:04Yeah.
26:05Okay.
26:06Let's go.
26:07Let's do it.
26:07Nice.
26:08Very happy to share this with you again.
26:11Thanks so much.
26:13We're never really given opportunities like this, so it's a bit life changing for us.
26:22Coming up...
26:23Oh, look at this!
26:25Stacey and Gemma get their first taste of luxury.
26:28Get me a burger, any day.
26:31But will the holiday high life have the girls all at sea?
26:35Do you need a yacht or a boat to be around for 2,000 a day?
26:38Oh!
26:39Absolutely gobsmacked that people get to just do that when they feel like it.
26:49Go!
26:50A jet-setting couple who like the finer things in life...
26:53It's definitely not my scene.
26:55...have been holidaying on the cheap.
26:57Let's get Marshall!
26:58Zanti strip, my idea of hell.
27:01Now it's their turn to show their cash-strapped companions how to holiday in style.
27:07A five-star, boutique, adults-only hotel.
27:12I feel like I'm going to cry.
27:13It's a bit life-changing for us.
27:17It's the second half of the break, and the pairs have arrived in Silavi, on Zanti's upmarket
27:23east coast.
27:23Hi there!
27:25Welcome to Condesina Suites and Spa.
27:28Let us give you a helping hand with the luggage.
27:29Thank you!
27:30Oh, thank you!
27:31Thank you so much!
27:32Ooh, this is new!
27:33Thank you!
27:35This is our pool area.
27:37Oh, that's lovely.
27:38Oh, wow!
27:41I've never seen anything like this in my life.
27:43For each pair, the ultimate in opulence.
27:46A £500 per night double suite.
27:53Oh, my God.
27:54We've got our own sinks.
27:56God!
27:59No way!
28:00This is something else.
28:01Oh, my God.
28:01Are you joking me?
28:03Oh, my God.
28:05I can't believe this.
28:07We've got our own plunge pool sets.
28:10Is that what they're called?
28:11Yeah!
28:11Oh, my God.
28:13Oh, my God.
28:15With just one night's stay costing nearly as much as both Gemma and Stacey's monthly rent,
28:21it's way beyond their normal reach.
28:24Oh, this is life.
28:27Oh, man.
28:28Oh, wow.
28:29I could easily get used to this.
28:31I can't sort of smile and then my face hurts.
28:35I've never seen anything like this.
28:37It's absolutely beautiful.
28:38I do want to see that.
28:40Do you?
28:41Well, cosy.
28:42Do you?
28:43The bed's soft.
28:44This is lovely.
28:45You'll roll off into the pool, though, if you roll.
28:48Yeah.
28:49Plop.
28:51But it's called a plop pool, isn't it?
28:52A plunge.
28:53Oh.
28:53It's not a plop pool.
28:58Brilliant.
29:00The luxury surroundings might be a learning curve for Stacey and Gemma.
29:04Much better, hey?
29:05Oh, yeah.
29:06That's lovely.
29:07That's much more our style.
29:09But five-star aficionados James and Isabella are right at home.
29:13It's a nice improvement from Les Hotel, right?
29:16Sure is.
29:17We cheers to that.
29:18Cheers to that.
29:20What's going on?
29:22Although it might not be the grown-up retreat they're expecting.
29:26Oh, my God.
29:28They're fully clothed in the pool.
29:30They're crazy sometimes.
29:32They're still playing Gemma and Stacey rules.
29:34I think we need to maybe have a chat with them and just say, you know, what's what?
29:37A little bit of rules, set some things for them.
29:39Our style.
29:41Quiet.
29:41Isabella and James style.
29:43Isabella and James style.
29:46It's a new morning in Sylvain.
29:48And to kick off the luxury holiday, James and Isabella have ordered a poolside breakfast
29:53for four.
29:54Ladies, breakfast is served.
29:56Ooh.
29:58Room service.
30:01At 70 quid, it's more than Stacey's monthly council tax.
30:05Look at this.
30:08Ooh.
30:09Ooh.
30:10Ooh.
30:10Oh, I've never had room service before.
30:12God, is that smoked salmon?
30:14As well as posh brekkies, Gemma and Stacey will also be taking part in James and Isabella's
30:20high-end holiday activities.
30:22I'll let you do the honours, Gemma.
30:25Thank you very much.
30:25Thank you very much.
30:29Fine dining in the hotel's exclusive restaurant.
30:33Fish, pâtés, things like that.
30:35It's not up my street.
30:36Private trip to a secluded beach?
30:39No way.
30:41A relaxing mud mask treatment?
30:43Yes!
30:45Oh, lovely.
30:46We do have a few rules for you girls.
30:48Okay.
30:49We all stay calm and quiet and just relax and enjoy.
30:54No fancy dress on the private yacht.
30:57Okay, okay.
30:58Deal?
30:58Agreed.
30:59A shake on it.
31:00We was asked to tone it down a little bit by James and Isabella.
31:03It's their world, not ours, and I respect that.
31:08First on the luxury holiday to-do list, an afternoon of total rest and relaxation at the hotel spa.
31:15This feels posh.
31:16Starting with avocado facials.
31:19Isabella, this is absolute magic.
31:22It is, right?
31:23Oh, lovely.
31:24Welcome to my world, Gemma.
31:27Yeah, I'm not leaving.
31:28With a price tag of 45 quid each, it's just short of Gemma and Stacey's weekly food shops.
31:34They can't afford to buy avocados, let alone have them painted all over their face.
31:40I've never had a facial in my life.
31:43I've never been so relaxed.
31:44Even my voice changed.
31:45I even started talking like this.
31:48I was so quiet and innocent.
31:50See, I'm even pronouncing my T's right.
31:54I'm not missing the Santy strip at this point.
31:57This is beautiful.
31:58Have you ever had anything like this before?
32:00No, never a facial.
32:02The look on their faces, the peace that come over the pair of them, it was priceless.
32:06How often do you and Isabella do this sort of thing?
32:09A couple of times a month, to be honest.
32:11It's a lot of money.
32:12That's like my whole food bill for a month.
32:14I'm blown away at the fact that they can just do that as and when they feel like it.
32:19But lucky them.
32:22To round off the relaxing day, a dinner reservation for four at the hotel's five-star rooftop restaurant.
32:29Oh, this is very posh. What do I do with all these?
32:32More use to fish fingers than fine dining.
32:34At 55 euros per head, the signature tasting menu is uncharted territory for Stacey and Gemma.
32:41I feel like it might be a bit of a bush tucker trial for me.
32:46I'm excited about trying different things that I wouldn't usually try.
32:50First up, a mussel, fava bean and wild fennel tart.
32:55It looks beautiful.
32:57Wow, it's really good.
32:58It's really nice.
33:01Yeah.
33:02Oh, that is good.
33:04Yeah, this one's not really for me.
33:07The fine dining was my idea of food hell.
33:11Get me a burger any day.
33:13Your next course has arrived, which is the squid.
33:17Oh, come on.
33:19We're in a really nice place.
33:20Can't be talking like that.
33:22Super embarrassed.
33:24Oh, look at it.
33:25Nah, it's freaking me out.
33:27Tentacles.
33:28Like, no thank you.
33:30The sauce and everything is just, wow.
33:32Mmm.
33:34I can't even chew it.
33:35Now what?
33:37Absolutely disgusting.
33:39The posh nosh isn't going down well with Gemma, but Stacey is getting stuck right in.
33:44Coffee is actually really nice.
33:46Stacey, you're a big foodie like me.
33:49I believe that Stacey was very inspired by this experience.
33:52I think she just found out something that she loves.
33:55Yeah, I'm getting a right taste for luxury.
33:57The food is just amazing where we're staying.
34:01How often do you go out for dinner?
34:03Three times a week?
34:04Yeah, three times a week.
34:06We don't mind paying sort of, you know, 100, 150 euros for a bottle of wine.
34:10Like, I can go down my local pub, get a burger, like, with chips and some salad with a beer
34:16for 7.99.
34:18I think the amount of money that James and Isabella spend on food and wine is a bit stupid, really.
34:25Especially because it tasted like that.
34:27A little bit disappointed because, you know, obviously that's our thing.
34:30You know, luxurious cuisine.
34:32It's a little bit uncomfortable.
34:36It's a new day in Sylvain.
34:38And in store for the foursome, the premium activity of the luxury holiday.
34:43Is this our boat?
34:44Wow.
34:44A private charter speedboat is taking them to their very own desert island.
34:56I could not believe my eyes.
34:58I've never seen anything like that.
35:00Well, I have, but I didn't think I'd ever be on one.
35:03Yeah, this is the highlight.
35:06Waterpark or Yacht in the Sea.
35:08I think Yacht in the Sea wins hands down.
35:10Yeah, it's lovely.
35:11For charter yacht broker James, it's a busman's holiday.
35:15The best feeling is just being out there, cruising on the ocean.
35:19Can't get enough of that.
35:20I can't believe that James and Isabella get to do that regularly.
35:23I'm very envious of that.
35:27And when you have your own boat, you can drop anchor in virgin coves with no other people in sight.
35:34It was so nice just being the four of us in this beach, no one else there, no footprints before
35:39us.
35:40It's an amazing feeling and one of my favorite things in the world.
35:43This is amazing.
35:45Beautiful.
35:45I've never seen a beach like this in my life.
35:47I didn't expect it to be this good though.
35:49For me, this is the real luxury.
35:52Yeah, it's absolute paradise.
35:53But paradise comes with a price tag.
35:56You do need money to be able to come to these beaches because you need a yacht or a boat.
36:00Realistically, it's probably around between $1,500, $2,000 a day.
36:04Maybe more depending on the yacht you take.
36:06£2,000, like what we get over two months to like live.
36:09To live off, yeah.
36:10That is literally two months rent, gas, electric and food for me and my children.
36:16I'm in awe of how they live.
36:22I want this life so bad.
36:25If I had a choice to be able to live their lives, I would be there in a heartbeat.
36:31Coming up, Gemma's thirst for luxury is unquenchable.
36:35I was pleasantly surprised.
36:36I really, really like the olive oil.
36:38But at what cost?
36:40No.
36:42That's more than I get a year.
36:44That's blowing my mind.
36:53A couple of five star loving high flyers are showing some hard up party pals.
37:00Ladies, breakfast is served.
37:02Room service.
37:06How to holiday in style.
37:09That's freaking me out.
37:10To see if money really can buy holiday happiness.
37:14Get me a burger.
37:15Any day.
37:18It's the final morning of the holiday and there's one last activity to tick off.
37:23A private tour of a family-run organic olive oil farm.
37:27Calimera, Calimera.
37:29You are very welcome in Terianos family farm.
37:33Dimitri and his family own two hectares of ancient olive groves and since 2012 have been producing award winning olive
37:40oil.
37:41One of my favorite things to do while I'm traveling is to go for tastings of local products.
37:48It's holiday heaven for foodie Isabella.
37:51But Gemma and Stacey are more at home with tanning oil than olive oil.
37:54So we have two types.
37:56We make olive oil for food and salad.
37:59And the hyphen olive oil is the oil that we use for our health.
38:03I thought that the girls would be bored with that.
38:05Can I ask a question?
38:06I'm wondering what the health benefits are from olive oil.
38:09What it helps with.
38:11But I was so amazed of how Gemma was excited and she was asking a lot of questions.
38:18They have a deflamatory and antioxidant properties.
38:20It's very good for the cholangetic system.
38:23Oh.
38:23As soon as he mentioned constipation Gemma got very, very excited because she's been struggling a bit here.
38:31The tasting couldn't come soon enough.
38:34So I have for you one challenge.
38:36We have put here the oil that we use for our health.
38:39And the other oil is more for food.
38:41So we don't tell you of course where is that oil in one glass but we give you to taste
38:46it.
38:47And we like after you taste the oil to tell us what oil is that.
38:50You had to actually drink it like a shot.
38:53It went for me.
38:54I was pleasantly surprised.
38:56I really, really like the olive oil.
38:58I feel like this one is for the cooking and this one's for the health benefits.
39:02You are very good so you have expensive days.
39:05No.
39:07It's really, really nice to see Gemma embracing culture.
39:10Is this the same woman that we met at the start of the holiday?
39:14I feel like James and Isabella are rubbing off on me a little bit.
39:17I think I'm slowly growing up.
39:20Never thought that would happen.
39:22With the holiday drawing to a close, over a drink at the farm one burning question remains.
39:28Doody on his face.
39:30How much did the luxury break cost?
39:34The total bill for your holiday is £14,270.
39:40What is that?
39:41That's £7,135 for each pair.
39:45No.
39:47That's really expensive.
39:48£14,000?
39:51That's more than I get a year to, like, feed, clothes, house.
39:56That's blowing my mind.
39:57Is that what you pay on a normal holiday?
40:00If you broke it down individually...
40:02Wowzers.
40:03I'm not going to lie, like, if I had your money, I would be spending it on exactly the same
40:08thing.
40:08This is a world I've never even, I never even knew.
40:11And it's made me want more from life.
40:14I don't want to go back to that hard bed.
40:16No.
40:17Don't make us.
40:18No.
40:18We was really enjoying that holiday, weren't we, until we've come to this.
40:22And now we're like, we don't ever want to go back to that.
40:25It's changed my whole outlook.
40:27It's gave me inspiration to sort of change my life up a bit when I get home.
40:31You have swung me.
40:32It makes me want to be more reserved.
40:34I don't want to be running around here locking up job or anything like that.
40:37Well, I've learned that peace is actually really nice.
40:40Yes.
40:40Yeah, I'm enjoying the peaceful side of it.
40:44And you've been out of your comfort zone many times.
40:47But you tried.
40:48We're so proud of you.
40:49Yeah, I'm just so thankful for showing me your world.
40:53And it's inspiring me to do more with my life.
40:56And I want what you guys have got.
40:58This is amazing.
41:00It's made us both want to do better in life and try that little bit harder
41:05and maybe push ourselves to do things that we didn't think we could.
41:09We want to accomplish things in life before we're six foot under.
41:15I think it was harder for you.
41:17We're very used to spending a lot of money when we go on holiday.
41:21But there's a bit that you've opened up inside of me that's made me think,
41:26maybe we don't always have to go and splash the cash around.
41:29Like, you know, spending 100 euros, 100 pounds on a bottle of wine.
41:32Is it necessary?
41:33In a way, you've shown us a different world.
41:36You're showing us your style of life, kind of jovial attitude, which I do think is brilliant.
41:41You pushed us out of our comfort zone.
41:43Of course, I'm more comfortable in my side of the holidays than your side of the holidays.
41:48Of course.
41:48So is I.
41:49But I think it's fun.
41:50I think I learned a lot from Gem and Stacey.
41:53They have this very happy style.
41:56They're always smiling, although that's sometimes a little bit loudly.
42:01I think I'm for sure I'm smiling more now than I was in the first day.
42:05I think we all changed it a little bit.
42:07Yeah.
42:08We all learned things from each other.
42:11Yeah, I feel like I've made two new friends.
42:13I know obviously we're not going to be going out night clubbing together and stuff, but...
42:18No.
42:18I don't think so.
42:19Bye.
42:20Bye.
42:24Back at the hotel, it's checkout time.
42:27Oh, I've really got it.
42:28I've got to go out here.
42:30Well, bye-bye rooms.
42:33All that's left to do is say their farewells.
42:36Hi, girls.
42:37Hi, girls.
42:38Well, it's time to leave already, right?
42:40We do have a little something for you.
42:42Oh!
42:43We know how you like inflatables.
42:45So here is orange.
42:47Do you want orange?
42:48We're swapping.
42:50Turn it over.
42:53Oh, wow.
42:55So you can get this far experience outside.
42:59Thank you so much.
43:01We've got you a little something too.
43:03Oh, thank you.
43:04That's so sweet.
43:04About our last two euros because it was all we had.
43:09I love short glasses.
43:12I love short glasses.
43:13So you can drink the olive oil out of that.
43:15Yes.
43:15Yes.
43:16Olive oil or tequila.
43:20Thank you so much.
43:22I'm so kind.
43:23It's time to go home.
43:24Let's get to the airport.
43:25Let's go.
43:29Back at their home in Spain.
43:32Hi.
43:32We're back to sunny Barcelona.
43:34And Hertfordshire, everyone is reflecting on the holiday.
43:38Overall, both holidays are brilliant.
43:40The rich was just a completely different experience.
43:43Makes you want to work towards like having some luxury like that in life.
43:48I think overall, you know, I think money can buy a great experience.
43:53I had a lot of fun in their part of their holidays.
43:57I learned that you can do a lot with a lower budget.
44:01But I have to admit that I still think that money can buy a better experience in holidays.
44:07I've had the best time ever.
44:09Feeling like I've got some great new friends.
44:11James and Isabella are an inspiration and I feel inspired to do better.
44:16It's opened my eyes to how I want to live my life now.
44:21Next time.
44:23I drive asleep in a prison.
44:25I'm not staying here.
44:26It stinks of piss.
44:27We're here now.
44:28Let's make the most of the day.
44:31This is the light.
44:33This is amazing.
44:37That's just mind blowing numbers.
44:42And rich holiday, poor holiday continues next Sunday at 9.
44:47It's a tense game of cat and mouse for the police as we join them on the night shift 999
44:52tomorrow at 9.
44:53And laying down the law, polizzi style, the hotel inspector is new Thursday at 8.
45:00Next, killer at the crime scene.
45:02.
45:02.
45:02.
45:02.
45:02.
45:02.
