00:00Do you smell this smell, Adam?
00:02You don't get this smell in the city.
00:14Old Lobstreet Cemetery.
00:16This is a place of remembering, honoring, and respect.
00:19A place of history.
00:21From dawn till dusk, visitors are welcome.
00:23At all other times, on those cemetery grounds,
00:26without authorization from cemetery management,
00:28will be considered trespassing.
00:31So we're here!
00:39Look at this sign!
00:47Wow!
00:52This is such a beautiful cemetery.
00:55Look where it is!
00:58It's so peaceful!
01:03I don't want to step on anyone.
01:12George Monroe, 1872 to 1945.
01:17June C. Van Valkenburg, 1926 to 1982.
01:22Wife of Hugh M. Ross, 1928 to 2011.
01:28Wow!
01:31Look at that, that's a beautiful long life.
01:33Jane Ross, born in 1825, died 1904.
01:39Oh, this is beautiful.
01:42Oh, this is beautiful.
01:42This one's really pretty.
01:43In memory of William Murray, died October 14th, 1867, aged 85 years.
01:51And Sarah, wife of the above, died June 8th, 1871, aged 89 years.
02:00That is such a long life for back then, in the late 1800s, to die at 85 and 89.
02:07That's a beautiful story.
02:14Those big pillars are gorgeous.
02:19Because what's cool is like, they're so old, but they look so new.
02:27I'm interested in the ones down near the forest.
02:31Yep.
02:32This one is super interesting.
02:34It's literally missing half of the tombstone.
02:37David Ross died 80, aged 80 years.
02:41Oh, the rest of it's behind.
02:43Oh, I'm glad they fixed this one.
02:47It's so nice when people, like, make sure to, like, fix stones that, like, can't be replaced
02:52and stuff like that.
02:56Memory of Jane Ross, daughter of David and Bessie Ross, born 1825, died 1904.
03:08I'm interested in these ones down here in the woods.
03:14Oh, I looked at that.
03:16That's pretty.
03:18In memoriam, erected by the descendants of Isabel McKay, who was born April 15, 1746, and died November 1829, aged
03:3084 years,
03:32her remains were first interred in this cemetery.
03:35Oh.
03:42Mary Thornton, wife of William McKay, died November 17, 1840, aged 89 years.
03:51Everyone here so far has passed away a long time ago.
03:56Oh, wow.
03:58There's one falling down in the woods here.
04:07Someone died aged 25 years, and then this person died aged 22 years.
04:16What are their names?
04:19Ah.
04:20Anne.
04:25That makes me sad.
04:29I should bring them flowers.
04:35Who do we have here?
04:39Sarah McKay, born February 18, 1830, and died March 3, 1832, when she was only 2 years old.
04:54some of them are so old you can't read them but it looks like
04:57so nice how it kind of aged over time
05:03we just don't have the artistry that they had back then and think of it like they didn't have
05:08the tools they didn't have the tools to create the tombstones and and stuff what are they called
05:14now they're not tombstones are grave markers yeah headstones headstones like we have so many tools
05:22now wow this is beautiful wow look at this one all alone by itself what a beautiful place to be
05:50though age 10 years could be 70 i hope it's 70
05:58robert mcdonald 1798 to 1875 helen sutherland 1808 to 1890 and adam their son from 1830 to 1916
06:13oh wow look at this one in memory of janet murray wife of alexander mckay who died february 11 1900
06:26aged 99 years so she would have been born in 1801
06:37whoa that's like trying to like do the math on how many years before that was 100 no
06:57way too many years 1801 to 1901 oh no she was born in 1900 i thought it was 1800 that's
07:04where my math
07:05she died in 1900 yeah which yeah died in 1900 which so she was born in 1901 1801 sorry you're
07:12right so i was
07:13right oh my god i thought she was born in 1990 god rest your soul janet you lived a long
07:19beautiful life
07:20in a time when i think being alive was like kind of rough let's look at this one
07:27in memory of christina wife of angus mckay who died november 23rd 1841
07:35aged 22 years she had just started her married life
07:40oh a lot of back then so much death was either like from like a sickness
07:46or a lot of it was in childbirth back then i'm really happy that like things have changed
07:54it's crazy like how much medically the world has changed like so many people died so young back in
08:00the day but now like they got a pill to fix your heart
08:07i wonder because this place is called old log church there must have been a church here at some
08:12point there's a difference i think um a graveyard is when it's a cemetery like by a church and then
08:20a cemetery is like a standalone thing i'm curious about this over here
08:33a lot of murray's here a lot of murray's
08:41wow look at all these pieces
08:46i'm always interested in the above ground vaults i don't think they're actually above ground but just
08:51like the vault is let's see in memory of john mckay born november 17 1831 died january 24 1854. so
09:06he was
09:07still in his 20s
09:20look at all these little look at these little little summit little stone in there
09:25it's weird being drawn to i have a really cool story actually adam and i went to this haunted
09:32hamilton event about a year and a half ago and it was at this really cool old estate and they
09:38had
09:38talked about this ghost named sarah and they'd also said that she was buried there but that her
09:42stone was like in the back and it was covered in weeds and stuff and all night i was like
09:46really in
09:46tune with everything that was going on and we went to the cemetery because they were all conducting
09:51evps and stuff in there and i was like okay i feel really in tune so something that i do
09:56sometimes
09:57is i'll literally go up to a stone and i can kind of usually sometimes pull their name or like
10:02pull
10:03if they're a man or a woman or how old they were when they died like young or old and
10:07i was doing it
10:08and i got like two tombstones or like two stones right in a row and then i went up to
10:13one and i was
10:14thinking sarah but i was like there's no way this this could be sarah this isn't where they said she
10:18was and then i just looked at adam and i was like is this sarah and he was like yes
10:22it is sarah so
10:23that was a really interesting a really interesting day but that's something that i did growing up
10:29like to try and like strengthen my gift is i would read stones i spent a lot of time everyone's
10:34always been interested in in cemeteries in my family in a respectful way i promise cool
10:41to the glory of god and the grateful honoring the reverend george leslie mckay 1844 to 1901
10:50pioneer missionary statesman and man of god in formosa this card was erected with the stones from
10:58the mckay home concession x east zora in 1960 by the presbytery of paris and the presbyterian church
11:08of canada wow the mckay house that's amazing
11:24wow look at that over there we're gonna go see that in a moment okay i don't want to wait
11:32let's go see it
11:41now oh it was adam it was look on this spot stood the old log church erected in 1832
11:56wow it must have been so small that one would have been new wow
12:05wow that's cool that's incredible i wonder if this was stones oh it's so warm from the sun
12:14well it said it was an old log church oh so it would have been wood but wouldn't the base
12:18the
12:18foundation would have had stones yeah i guess yeah probably probably had to remove the stones from
12:22the ground and then just wait a second what's up
12:36if there's someone here give us a sign
12:43something loud
12:51that was very weird um adam's not filming to take a picture and right down here between those two
12:56stones back near there i saw a man walk past quick and i just thought it was a person and
13:01i kind of did
13:01like one of these like i went like to make sure that it was like someone or we weren't getting
13:06in trouble
13:06and he wasn't there it was quick you know i feel a lot of us we question if we see
13:13ghosts because we
13:13see things in our peripheral and and stuff like that but someone passing through look at this one this is
13:20beautiful
13:23how intricate with the
13:31so there's alex mcdonald isabel that's his wife
13:46and emma
13:51emma passed away at 30 years old
14:08it always breaks my heart a little bit when you see the stones that
14:11you know i'm just trying to stick to to showing the stones that are people who are long passed away
14:16i
14:16don't really like to show any stones of people who still have like living members and stuff like that
14:21and um it always like breaks my heart when you see like one of the two of the soul mates
14:26or lovers
14:27and husband and wife are buried and the other one's still alive because like it's great they're still
14:31alive but it just takes me back to my grandma and how much she hated living without my grandpa
14:36and the other one's still alive but yeah
15:04there's a big open spot we could go here
15:07i love you here this is such a nice place
15:19i wonder how it breaks i wonder if it's just like coldness or if it's ice
15:24or what does it or if it like it's hit by lightning that's quite theatrical
15:32well guys that was a look at the old log church little hidden cemetery here in ontario i hope that
15:39you enjoyed it and i hope you didn't feel any disrespect or anything from this video because
15:44we didn't come at that with this i just like to share them and sometimes i think remembering people
15:49long after gone it's kind of a beautiful thing to do and i would want someone to do it about
15:55me i guess
15:56all right guys have a great night love yourself forever because i love you
