00:00I'd love to get your thoughts on what the 50th anniversary means to you
00:04and maybe share like a very quick anecdote of like your favorite story being at Apple during that time.
00:12Well, look, again, I've been here for 40 of the 50, which is kind of nuts.
00:18And I can't help but think of when Steve returned to the company.
00:24And our very first meeting with Steve, because here again, we were struggling to say the least.
00:29At that point, and we we had the meeting with the leaders in product marketing, leaders of engineering, our first
00:37meeting with them.
00:38And I was working for Phil at the time, Phil Schiller, and, you know, weren't quite sure how to start
00:45the meeting.
00:45And Phil says, hey, do you want to show you our product roadmaps, which are, you know, our plans for
00:50the product for the next couple of years?
00:51And Steve stops. He says, no, let's talk about where we're going, because if we don't know where we're going,
00:58no map's going to get us there.
01:01And we started to retrench our thinking and him reminding us that great companies fail because they forget about creating
01:09great products.
01:11And that we were going to put the product back at the focus of everything that we do, right?
01:18And with this naive belief that if you create great products, there'll be a market for that.
01:26And again, first of all, our heads were like, wow, we'd never had a CEO who was telling us that,
01:32that we were going to talk about where we're going and how the products were going to be getting us
01:36there and where we, you know, how we were going to transform this business.
01:39And, you know, talk about having us that hello.
01:43And then to see, as I went through earlier, to see all the different places that that thinking took us,
01:49you know, and where we are today is, you know, it's been an incredible journey.
01:53I feel incredibly blessed to have spent the last 40 years of my life here.
01:58And, and what's more exciting is all the great stuff we have in front of us because we are working
02:03on some pretty cool stuff, Mark, but I think that's what you wanted to hear from us, but we're not.
