00:00So this is the brand new iPhone air,
00:01which I've been using for a couple of days now.
00:06We initially thought when this was coming out,
00:08this would be called like the iPhone 17 air,
00:10but this is, I guess, technically a brand new category.
00:12So just the iPhone air,
00:14it is Apple's thinnest iPhone that they've ever made.
00:17Like even when I unboxed this,
00:18this is actually the first time you see on a box,
00:20like how thin a device is.
00:22It feels so different than any iPhone you've ever held.
00:25It feels so cool, so thin.
00:28If you've actually held like the galaxy, like S25 edge,
00:30very similar feeling, but this is actually in fact,
00:33made of titanium.
00:34So it still has a very nice like pro feature.
00:37When you look actually at the new like 17 pro,
00:40they've gone back to aluminum and that's mostly to do
00:43with like thermal management.
00:44And you can see on the back,
00:45the pros have that two-tone look with of course the glass back
00:49and the aluminum like a plateau around the rest.
00:52That's to help with thermal management,
00:53but on the air, it is just nice and clean.
00:56You still have the plateau, but it is all made out of glass.
00:59The air is available in four colors,
01:01actually funnily enough, more color options than the pro.
01:03So this one in sky blue,
01:04which I think is my favorite of the bunch.
01:06Also like a light gold, a black, as well as a white.
01:09Like I mentioned, the banding around the outside is in titanium.
01:13And even though this feels super, super thin,
01:15Apple claims this is the strongest device they've ever made.
01:18I actually got a chance to visit their durability lab,
01:20where they do like all their IP testing,
01:22where they test like the tensile strength.
01:24Like I'm pretty strong dude,
01:26not trying to flex on anyone, get it?
01:28Flex.
01:28This has no weird wiggle or wobble,
01:31no matter how hard, like that was my like thumb cracking,
01:35not the phone.
01:36It's durable.
01:37It feels like really, really sturdy.
01:39So you don't need to worry about that.
01:40I would say the biggest thing while using this
01:43is the battery life.
01:44So that is obviously like the hot topic.
01:46For example, I charge this set in the morning right now,
01:48we're sitting at like 84% and I've kind of barely used it already.
01:52So almost like 20 ish percent gone from a couple hours.
01:56If you are a power user,
01:58you sadly will have to charge this like easily by the end of the day.
02:02That's actually one of the main reasons why I'm a pro max user,
02:05just because I'm on.
02:05So typically you can see my screen on time is close to 11 hours,
02:09which is, you know, quite a bit.
02:11I do this, you know, for a living social media stuff.
02:13So I'm always on my device.
02:14I can never get to the end of the day on my iPhone air.
02:19So if you like average, like maybe six to eight hours,
02:21you might get by,
02:22you definitely need to charge this with some sort of like power bank,
02:26just insert like the USB-C cable.
02:28And technically the battery life on this,
02:30Apple doesn't like fully disclaim their milliamp hours.
02:32I think I've seen a couple of tear downs,
02:34like 3,149 milliamps.
02:37That gets you around like 27 ish hours of video playback,
02:40compared to say like 39 hours on the pro max.
02:44That's like over 10 hours of a difference.
02:46So that is something to definitely consider.
02:49Obviously the box doesn't have any sort of like charging brick in it.
02:52And technically Apple sells their own proprietary one.
02:54It's a bit expensive and it doesn't charge as fast.
02:56So I've been using this one from anchor.
02:58This is a 45 watt charger,
03:01which is crazy how much these have shrunk in size.
03:04So like a couple of years ago, these used to be way bigger.
03:06You can now easily fit this in like an everyday pack, like in your bag.
03:10You can just kind of store it somewhere.
03:11They've just gotten so much better.
03:13You can charge your iPhone air at its full potential from zero to 50% in 30 minutes.
03:17And your iPhone 17 pro or pro max from zero to 50 in 20 minutes.
03:21So that's item one that I would grab.
03:23And I know that there was a lot of hype around this new accessory,
03:26which they even showcased in the keynote, the iPhone air,
03:29like specifically made for the iPhone air,
03:31the battery like MagSafe power, like brick.
03:33So this one from Apple gives you around 65% additional charge to your iPhone air.
03:37You can see it there and it gives it a very like slim profile, but this costs a hundred dollars.
03:44That's like us, like in Canada, that must be like 130 bucks.
03:47You only get 31 50 extra milliamp hours.
03:50And this one from anchor gives you double the charging capacity.
03:53So an extra 5,000 milliamps versus the 65% one from Apple.
03:57And it costs like almost half the price, which I think is pretty crazy.
04:01But the biggest thing is this actually charges your device faster.
04:04So this is Chi 2 certified. So this gets you 15 watts of wireless charging compared to the Apple one,
04:09which gets you around 12.
04:11Technically, you can get like the full speed if this is plugged in.
04:13But the most things are like you use this most of the time when you are out and about on
04:18the go.
04:18You would never like use this while it's plugged in into the extra like power bank.
04:22So definitely get this one.
04:24This one is literally, like I said, half the price.
04:26And the biggest thing out of all this actually works with all Apple iPhones with MagSafe,
04:30since the size is universal.
04:32The one that Apple has designed strangely only fits the iPhone Air.
04:36And you can see here, it doesn't even fit my Pro Max and it juts out weirdly.
04:40Don't buy Apple accessories.
04:41They milk you for those.
04:44I will leave those linked down below.
04:45But that is kind of like the battery issue or like my battery experience with the iPhone Air.
04:50That aside, I think it's a really great device.
04:53Like I said, it almost feels like Apple is kind of teasing us with how thin devices are.
04:57I can almost see them having like two of these side by side and that upcoming iPhone fold,
05:03whatever they decide to call it, will be this same thickness.
05:06They're almost like conditioning us to feel how thin a device is, which is kind of cool.
05:10Obviously, that's like foreshadowing.
05:12That's, you know, my brain kind of thinking ahead.
05:14But yeah, it is a really nice device to hold and use and to experience like how thin the device
05:19is.
05:19My, I guess like second biggest thing is the camera.
05:22So sadly on this, you just have the one camera sensor.
05:25So that is a fusion camera, 48 megapixels.
05:28When you compare that to obviously the pro you've got the three,
05:31which is the ultra wide as well as the telephoto on the standard 17.
05:35You've got the ultra wide as well as the main like wide.
05:38I wish, I don't know Apple's reasoning behind this,
05:41why they could not include like the extra ultra wide sensor on the iPhone air.
05:46It would just make so much sense to me.
05:48They have the extra room on the plateau.
05:50Like it could just be sitting like right there in that slot.
05:53And I know a lot of people will say the entire phone is kind of like packed into this,
05:57you know, plateau.
05:58Most of this here is like the battery.
06:00I don't know.
06:00I just wish the ultra wide would have been like included.
06:03I know that's like a make or break for some people,
06:05not having that extra like ultra wide sensor.
06:08But let me know your thoughts.
06:08If you're just like a one camera person,
06:10you just like to take the occasional shot.
06:12Obviously this is good.
06:13At least on the front though,
06:14they haven't sacrificed the front facing camera,
06:17which has been a nice upgrade.
06:18That's across the entire iPhone 17 lineup.
06:20So we have that 18 megapixel center stage camera.
06:23I've mentioned this before.
06:24You no longer need to rotate the phone to get into say like a landscape shot.
06:28You just need to hit this little button and you can see that it goes nice and wide.
06:31That's because the actual sensor is square shaped.
06:33So it can take full advantage of that.
06:35It feels natural.
06:36It feels good.
06:36It's one of my favorite upgrades coming to the entire iPhone 17.
06:39The actual display.
06:41So this is 6.5 inches.
06:43This has promotion.
06:44So that's one to 120 Hertz.
06:46The bezels are super thin.
06:48It's like a really nice phone to use.
06:49This does also have the a 19 pro chip.
06:52So that's the same chip found in the 17 pro bit of a tongue twister,
06:56but on the flip end,
06:57I would argue if this has like a pro chip.
06:59So you're using this for like pro things,
07:01hardcore gaming, a lot of like say photo editing,
07:03maybe some like video stuff,
07:05those tasks chew up battery that burns through it.
07:09And once again,
07:09that will only mean you need to charge this device more and more.
07:12So it's an interesting dilemma,
07:13whether they're marketing this as like a pro phone with that pro chip,
07:17like the back, it gets hot.
07:19Obviously all the internals near the top.
07:20That's where you really notice it.
07:22But because this is made of titanium,
07:23there's no vapor chamber.
07:25So nothing to help dissipate heat.
07:26Obviously the aluminum on the pro does help with that.
07:29So once again,
07:29I think like some conflicting ideas,
07:31but I get it.
07:32It's the first generation of the air.
07:34So there's always going to be those little things that don't really make sense.
07:37I'm sure Apple will kind of refine this as we move forward.
07:41And I guess the last thing comes down to pricing.
07:43So this starts at 256 gigs of storage,
07:46999 or sadly 1449 Canadian.
07:49We get once again, shafted with that conversion.
07:51You can also grab that in 512,
07:53or even like a terabyte,
07:54if you really want to drop that extra money.
07:57This does come with 12 gigs of RAM.
07:59Once again, it's positioning itself as a pro phone,
08:02but you know,
08:03it doesn't have some of the pro camera features.
08:04This doesn't record in log or pro res raw.
08:07Weirdly enough, the one camera,
08:08I almost feel like it's a bit of like a Frankenstein device,
08:11taking features from the pro,
08:12but also taking features from like less than the base model
08:15and kind of combining everything.
08:17I guess you're paying for the engineering.
08:18You're paying for the thinness.
08:20You're definitely not paying for the milliamp hours.
08:22But that is like my thoughts on the iPhone air.
08:25Should you buy this?
08:27I still think the iPhone 17,
08:29for example, just like the base model,
08:31this has like promotion.
08:32This has like the two cameras.
08:33The A19 chip is more than capable.
08:35You don't get those like pro camera features in either.
08:37I would say go to the store,
08:39really feel how this makes sense.
08:41I get most people will stick like a case,
08:44a bumper on it to give it some protection,
08:45but really give this a feel on how good
08:49and how interesting it feels in the hand.
08:50And remember,
08:51this is the most durable iPhone Apple has ever made.
08:55So you don't need to worry about any weird Ben gate stuff.
08:58Let me know your thoughts down below in the comments.
08:59If you did end up grabbing a new iPhone,
09:02which model would you end up grabbing?
09:03And I think this is like the orientation,
09:05how Apple wants to sell them,
09:06even though technically like the one camera
09:09would be like this.
09:10But in terms of pricing,
09:11I guess they are placed this way.
09:13So the 17, 17 air and the 17 pro slash pro max.
09:18I'll catch the rest of you in one of my next vids.
09:20Peace.
