00:00We also talked about, wait a second, Ovechkin is playing as good as hockey as he did 10 years ago.
00:04Oh, he might hang it up.
00:06And Joe and I are like, there's no way Ovechkin is hanging it up.
00:09Now, ESPN reports here, capital star Alex Ovechkin, the NHL's all-time leading goal scorer,
00:14said he's pretty sure that Tuesday's season finale won't be his last as he ponders retirement, Joe.
00:18And also, we're hearing not one, but maybe two more years from Ovi.
00:23And you know what?
00:24But if he can play, Donnie, he doesn't strike me as a guy that is going to just hang on
00:31and get passed.
00:33But if he doesn't feel he can play, I don't think if the team feels he can't play, they'll tell
00:38him.
00:38But as long as he can produce like he is producing, you know, usually guys at this point, though,
00:45they do fall off a cliff at some point, Donnie.
00:47But it wouldn't shock me if we get at least one more year out of him, no?
00:50Well, yeah, it was shocking as well, going north of the board here to Toronto.
00:56Do you get one more year to Austin Matthews there in a Maple Leafs uniform?
00:59Here's Austin Matthews.
01:00There's been a lot of people projecting their thoughts on what you think of the future of this franchise
01:07and your place within it.
01:09I'm sure you've heard that.
01:10How do you view your future with the Leafs moving forward in the season?
01:15Yeah, I mean, I can't predict the future.
01:17Obviously, there's steps that kind of have to, you know, take place.
01:20They're going to hire new leadership at management and stuff like that.
01:24So, you know, I don't really know.
01:26I think that's kind of, you know, like I said, I can't really predict the future.
01:31But for yourself personally, is this a place you want to be
01:35or would reject any suggestion that you should not be here for the remainder of your country?
01:41Yeah, I think all that stuff, I mean, there's always noise and there's always chatter.
01:45You know, I think personally, you know, I really don't pay attention to all that.
01:50You know, I just focus on myself, focus on this team and, you know, trying to be part of the
01:54solution.
01:56Look, Toronto is a tough place to play, no doubt about it.
01:58The expectations were super high on the Maple Leafs for at least a decade there.
02:01And they had a ton of talent, Joe.
02:03But just one of those teams that played well in the regular season just couldn't live up to the spotlight
02:08when you needed to win a Stanley Cup.
02:10Yeah, it is what it is.
02:12But it's been like that for how long, though, Donnie, in Toronto?
02:15I mean, this year was even worse.
02:17But it's, I remember, remember when he signed there?
02:20It was like the greatest thing in the world.
02:22And oh my goodness, it got, yeah, no, no, no.
02:25It hadn't worked out.
02:26But it hasn't worked out for a lot of guys that went to Toronto.
02:29No, it certainly hasn't here.
02:31Speaking of hockey, let's head over to the Island, Joe.
02:33UBS Arena.
02:34How about this one?
02:36During their final game of the season, the New York Islanders shared an NYPD Union's message on their scoreboard
02:41asking fans to donate to the legal defense fund of a sergeant convicted of manslaughter
02:47for throwing a cooler and killing a fleeing suspect on a motorized scooter.
02:51The Islanders posted a QR code on the Jumbo trying to allow fans to donate there
02:55to the Benevolent Association's Defense Fund for Sergeant Eric Duran.
02:59How much did they give a release of how much was actually donated for this?
03:03And also, did they have to pay for that spot and put it on the scoreboard?
03:09Yeah, it's interesting, right?
03:10They had a choice, from what I understand as well there, Donnie, on how they could promote this there.
03:17So they opted for the good old QR code.
03:20And I do believe they actually got some money there with the donations inside the building during the game.
03:28There you go.
03:28New way to do it.
03:29You know what I'm going to do?
03:30I'm going to go to a Flyers game and put my QR code up there saying,
03:33hey, you like Donnie Wright's?
03:34I donate to the foundation and away we go with this.
03:36The Blue Jackets, they signed a new head coach, Rick Bonas,
03:39for the 2026-2027 season in Colorado.
03:43Or excuse me, in Colorado.
03:44Excuse me, in Columbus.
03:44How about that?
03:45Maybe he wanted to be in Colorado.
03:46I don't know.
03:47Well, he could have wanted to be in Colorado.
03:49But no, Columbus is.
03:51I would want to be in Colorado.
03:51It's a good team.
03:52No, no.
03:53Well, they're actually going to win everything here.
03:55But that's neither here nor there.
03:56But kudos.
03:58About time there.
03:59Columbus has got some good news.
04:01By the way, I want to squeeze in this.
04:02Because the only series that matters is the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers.
04:06Rick Tocke, who was a Flyer and a Penguin.
04:08Here he is talking.
04:09I mean, you know, this is a, you know, I love the city.
04:12I love the, what the, I mean, I won three Stanley Cubs there.
04:15I have friends in that city.
04:17I adore the franchise.
04:19I mean, they're a terrific class.
04:21But I'm on the other side now.
04:22And this is, you know, handshakes and all that's for later.
04:26This is the real keeps.
04:28And, you know, I got to keep my head on straight here and know that, you know, I'm an orange
04:32black guy right now.
04:33And, you know, we're going to go head to head with this team.
04:35And it's going to hopefully be a hell of a series.
04:38Ah, talking Zezil, Tim Kerr of the 1980s.
04:41He's a true blue blood here in the city of Philadelphia.
04:44We ain't hearing about this.
04:45I was with the, you know, Penguins and won three total cups.
04:48He's a Flyer through and through, Joe.
