00:012-4-8-5-3-9-97-97. Tigers win a thriller yesterday, multiple delays, but they win
00:0910-9, had a big 6-1 lead, blew that, came back, and then win it with the big Colt
00:16Keefe hit for
00:16the winning run. Riley Green drives in two for the tying run. Back in action tonight in Boston,
00:24Casey Mize will be on the hill for the Tigers. By the way, Montero pitched another good game. I
00:29mean, don't just look at the box score. He was really good again, and they're going
00:34to have some interesting decisions to make. If Mize pitches okay, once JV is healthy to
00:42come back, what they're going to do. Yeah, and think about him. Was it 83 pitches
00:47through six innings? He was very efficient. Yeah. All right. We mentioned the draft is a
00:53week from yesterday, so at this time next week, you and Jim will be discussing the
00:58Lions first-round pick if they keep their first-round pick. Correct. Yes, they could
01:06trade up, trade down, stay put. Yes, and there is a new name out there in some
01:14mocks that the Lions might be interested in, and part of that is because of Gov's
01:20favorite player, Terry Ann Arnold, not performing well. And you know, even at the
01:25Brad Holmes press conference the other day, they have not said about Terry and
01:31Arnold's status with this weird stuff. The whole legal thing going on, yeah. And so I
01:38don't know how much more they know than we know as a public. His name has been in the
01:49text messages, but there has been no charges. There has been no indication that he will
01:54be charged. And I mean, I don't remember what Dan said the last time, but I think he basically
02:01said they believe he's going to be available. So I don't expect that he will miss time due
02:11to legal ramifications at this point with the information that we have.
02:16Okay. So if he comes back, you know, he's starting cornerback, right? Yeah. Yeah. DJ
02:23Reed, hopefully his, because DJ Reed was good until he got hurt. Right. And when he came back
02:30hurt, which maybe he rushed, I don't know. He was definitely the opposite of good. Well,
02:35he was just not the same. Yeah. Yeah. He was, he was not very good. Uh, they went and got
02:40what? McCreary. Is that his name from Tennessee? Yeah. To basically take, uh, a Meek
02:45Robertson spot among others, right? Yes. So, and we forgetting about the safety problems
02:53because branch probably won't be ready. We have no idea about Kirby Joseph. Right. And
02:58you don't know anything about Anis Rakestraw. Correct. So defensive back, and there's a new
03:04report from, uh, the respected Daniel Jeremiah, uh, of NFL network that has linked the lions
03:11to Jermon McCoy out of Tennessee. Yep. Well, a really good linebacker. However,
03:19he fits the mold. A Brad Holmes guy. Cause he's injured. He wasn't injured. I mean, look,
03:26he missed all the last season with a torn ACL. He did look pretty damn good when he ran a
03:32four,
03:32three, eight at his pro day. And before his injury, he was probably the best cornerback in
03:41the draft. Right. Yeah. So what he has to say about Jermon McCoy is that he's a top 10 talent.
03:45He, and he says he's legit. All his tape from 2024 is as good as anything you're going to see
03:50in this
03:51draft. And he plays big, he plays explosive. And some of the,
03:59those that are bringing up the detriments, obviously coming off an ACL, but he was cleared
04:04to play last year at about week eight or nine and chose not to play. Now, some people are saying,
04:14well, is that a detriment? Yeah. A red flag. We see guys opt out. Bosa opt out at famously at
04:20Ohio state as the team captain, uh, you know, after only playing one game, he, the rumors were,
04:26he could have played the final game. If they were going to be in the post season, he, what
04:31unenrolled from school to focus on the combine and it didn't affect his draft status. Correct. Now
04:37he's, you know, Jermon McCoy, I don't think anybody's looking at him as a top three or five
04:41guy. Um, go ahead, Greg. I was going to say, because I know that the, the, the, the knock on
04:48that is, well, if they're out of it and would like, he wouldn't want to come back and, you
04:54know, play the last few games of a meaningful, of a, of a meaningless season. It's like fans
05:00wouldn't want him to come back. They would say, don't have him come back from injury.
05:04Like how many times do we say this about Deandre Swift? Right. We didn't want him coming back
05:08when the lions were out of it. Right. It's a little bit of a different context when it's
05:14college, but we also have guys currently on the roster that we are beloved by the fans.
05:21Uh, Penny Sewell opted out during the COVID year. So it's obviously, again, you got to
05:26take context into it. It didn't affect him not having played that season.
05:31The bottom line is, do you want Jermon McCoy? If whether Freeling's there or not, or my guy
05:40from Penn state, you know, Vega, uh, yeah. Vega Ione. Ione. Yeah. The, you know, the
05:47badass guard. Yeah. Um, there's some people who think they should, you know, draft, uh,
05:52Kenyon Sadiq and then trade Sam Laporta. I mean, whatever. There's a lot of options,
05:58a lot of things that they could do. So if McCoy's there and there's still going to be
06:02some defense, defense and offensive linemen there, whether it's the ones we mentioned,
06:06or if it's, you know, Blake Miller or the kid from Arizona state, right. Or even, I know
06:11you can't stand him, but Caden Proctor might be available. I don't know. Would you rather
06:15have, well, there's, I think there's a reason he might be available. Some mocks have him
06:18going as low as 27, 28. Some have them pretty high, which to me, I don't understand, but
06:23whatever. Um, maybe, you know, there's, there's tons of guys out there. So what do we know
06:29about this deep? Oh, what, what, we know that we want them to go offensive tackle and edge.
06:35I think that's pretty universal of the first two picks. Correct. And I mean, I guess you could
06:41interchange depending on who you think you're going to get in the second. If you, if you go
06:45defensive end first and then offensive tackle, but defensively, what do we know that they need?
06:54They need help at all three levels. Yes. They need an edge rusher. I do still think they need
06:59an interior guy. I mean, I know you have Williams and McNeil coming off the end, you know, he didn't
07:04play well when he came back. You obviously have a need at safety because of the injury situation,
07:08and you obviously have needs at cornerback. They have tons of defensive needs, right? And their
07:12defense has been not good the last couple of years. And I know they mixed and matched, you know,
07:17a few years ago with the AG, you basically copy and paste things together. Sure. Um, and, and the
07:24thing about it is with so many needs and we will discuss, should they trade up trade down? There's
07:31benefits to both, but I will say this, I wouldn't hate the pick. I think, uh, I think there's a
07:38lot
07:38of fans that would, would not love it. But when we come back, we'll discuss this 97 one.
