Fresh strike action is set to disrupt travel for thousands of commuters across the capital next week.Whether you’re heading into the office, off to an event, or making your way to the London Marathon Running Show, there’s a fair chance your journey won’t run to plan.Drivers belonging to the RMT union will walk out from midday on Tuesday (April 21) for 24 hours and again from midday on Thursday (April 23) for 24 hours. The timing of the strikes means the effects are expected to spill across four working days, so even if you’re not travelling on strike days themselves, you might still feel the squeeze. On the bright side, this could be the week you finally swap the Tube for a Lime bike, or if you’re lucky enough to have an office near the Thames, trade the Underground for a riverboat commute. To help you stay one step ahead of the disruption, The Standard has pulled together a guide detailing how to dodge the worst of the chaos.

00:00Fresh Strike Action is set to disrupt travel for thousands of Londoners next
00:04week. Drivers belonging to the RMT Union will be staging fresh walkouts next week
00:09on Tuesday for 24 hours and again on Thursday but the disruption is likely to
00:14spread over four working days. But lucky for you the Standard has put together a
00:19guide on exactly how you can dodge the chaos. So while all London Underground
00:23lines will be impacted journeys made earlier in the day so from before midday
00:28on both Tuesday and Thursday are likely to run mainly smoothly but you may need
00:33a plan B on your return journey as striking staff clock off at midday which
00:38means that rush hour after 5 p.m. might be a little bit more tricky. The Elizabeth
00:42Line, DLR and Overground lines will all be running as normal but be warned they're
00:47probably going to be a lot busier than usual. Buses are also running as normal
00:50but people should be prepared to queue for them. So there's also a separate bus
00:55strike on April 24th so TFL is saying check before you travel. You can use
01:01the TFL Go app or the journey planner as well. If you're heading to the London
01:05Marathon running show this weekend your best bet is to take the DLR or Elizabeth
01:10Line to Custom House which is the nearest station but beware this is also likely to
01:14be much busier than usual. If you've never used an e-bike now might be the
01:17perfect chance. So swap your train commute for two wheels next week and download the
01:22Lime or Forest Up to get started. If you maybe want a more scenic commute then
01:27you could travel by Uber Boat which operates along 24 piers between Putney
01:32and Barking. These routes are regular during peak hours so that is how you can
01:38beat the strike next week.
