A car rental owner, Than, was shocked to find his RM200,000 Toyota Alphard AGH40 sold and its “P111” plate transferred without consent.

He had rented the car to an agent in January but discovered the issue in February after a friend spotted it for sale.

A police report was filed, and investigations are ongoing.

00:01A car rental business owner identified only as Thanh was left stunned after discovering his Toyota Alphard AGH40, worth over
00:11200,000 ringgit, had been sold and its prized P111 number plate transferred to another vehicle without his knowledge or
00:19consent.
00:21Thanh, who also serves as his company's director, had rented the vehicle to an agent known as Brian Lee in
00:27January at 12,000 ringgit per month.
00:31He only learned of the alleged fraud on February 25th when a friend alerted him that the car was being
00:36sold, with the vehicle later found listed at a caro showroom and the number plate transferred to a motorcycle in
00:43Johor.
00:56Thanh spoke at a press conference at Wisma MCA on Thursday, adding that he had lodged a police report on
01:02March 1st, with investigations currently underway.
01:05Meanwhile, MCA Public Services and Complaints Department, Head Datuk Seri Michael Chong, who raised the case, warned of a possible
01:14syndicate targeting owners of special vehicle number plates, citing two other similar cases reported to MCA on the same day.
