00:001947 at Ebbets Field
00:01for the Brooklyn Dodgers
00:03and for the 18th consecutive year
00:05everybody on the field is honoring
00:08Jackie by worrying number 42
00:10it's a beautiful day at the ballpark
00:12here today temperatures should move
00:14into the 60s as the
00:16twins look to sweep the Red Sox
00:18Alex Cora and Boston now
00:206 and 11 this season currently
00:22in last place in the American
00:24League East and they
00:26head home after the ball game today
00:27off tomorrow welcome the Tigers
00:29for a four game Patriots Day weekend
00:31wraparound series at Fenway Park starting
00:34on Friday the Ford Boston lineup
00:35a few changes Zaydan
00:37Rafael normally at the bottom he bats second
00:40here today Masataki Oshini had a good
00:42day yesterday he bats third
00:43his DHing no Wilson
00:45Contreras out with a back injury and a
00:47planned off day for Willier Abreu that's
00:49why Anthony isn't right
00:51as we take a look at Simon Woods Richardson
00:53Burke his numbers are brought to you by Car Shield
00:55couple of good starts this year a little bit of
00:57a clunker his last time out against Toronto
00:59but the last time he was on the mound at target field
01:01he pitched into the seventh inning
01:03he had three good innings against the
01:05Blue Jays pitching with
01:07food poisoning kind of ran out of gas
01:09the second time through
01:11see if he's feeling a little stronger today
01:13that four seam split slider curveball
01:16four seam the split
01:17was a really good pitch for him last year
01:19giving up a couple home runs on it this year
01:23early on
01:25and Molly the twins defensively they played well here in the series
01:28they really have they've had a nice defensive stretch today with the right-handed bats in there
01:32we have Martin in left
01:34buck in center which is always good to see a day game after a night game
01:38Maddie Walner in right
01:39Kreidler gets to start at third base today
01:41Brooks Lee back at short
01:43Luke Kishaw at second base
01:46and Josh Bell gets to start over at first base today and Ryan Jeffers back behind the plate
01:53was Richardson getting his second ever look
01:55at the Red Sox he faced Boston here at target field last year and took a no decision
02:02Roman Anthony's had a good series three for six a couple of doubles leads off and the first pitch is
02:07a strike
02:07a fastball at 94 with that we are underway
02:11the first place Minnesota twins winners of eight of nine have the best record
02:16in the American League entering play today
02:22oh and two on a splitter
02:27splitter usage perk is up across the board for Sim especially though against lefties
02:32he had a 32 percent almost 33 percent whiff rate on that pitch last year
02:37it's down under 20 percent just under 18 percent this year good sign though
02:42the depth that that one had
02:44looked like he went he did and sure enough another splitter and
02:48what's Richardson on three pitches strikes out Anthony
02:54I like the fact that he's establishing that pitcher
02:57that's got a ton of wow depth
02:59arm side run
03:01it's a great 0-2 pitch
03:03that was gross
03:05that split just kept dipping and diving off the outside corner so one down for
03:10say Don Raffaella
03:13Raffaella did not play last night was in the lineup
03:16back on Monday gold glove winning center fielder
03:20off to a nice star batting just shy of 300
03:27outside two and 0 on Raffaella on base percentage at 365 Red Sox coming in
03:35near the bottom in many offensive categories
03:38they're 21st in runs averaging four runs per game
03:42they're 29th in home runs only 11
03:46and they're hitting the third highest ground balls of any offense in the game
03:55was Richardson behind 3-0 against Raffaella
04:00that pops at 95 and Jeffers thought about it but a good no challenge by Jeffers it was outside and
04:08a tad low
04:09so Raffaella walks in four straight
04:11and the Red Sox have a man on here in a scoreless first inning
04:19now Masataka Yoshida DH-ing for the second straight game hitting 3-0-4 so far this year
04:32fastball for a strike on Raffaella
04:39I'm sorry on Yoshida Raffaella's at first base
04:44blank time tough to come by for Yoshida right now with
04:48Durant and Anthony pretty much left field DH-ing
04:51this one slicing foul and will land
04:54out of play
04:56but with Abreu a planned off day here today
04:59and Anthony and right
05:00and Durant and left
05:02Yoshida batting third
05:04for the second straight game
05:09sure that couple of base hits that he had last night made it a little easier for
05:14core to get him back in there as well
05:16this one near the line
05:17Martin over and that lands fair and is able to glove it on the warning track
05:21and
05:22Yoshida makes second base
05:23so Boston threatening right away second and third
05:26with only one out
05:28so Yoshida stays out now three hits in the series
05:31and here comes Trevor Sori
05:36you know with the
05:39excessive outfielders that the Red Sox have
05:42Yoshida has found himself in a position where he's got to do well to get his name back in the
05:46lineup
05:47as you mentioned a couple of hits last night
05:50nice hitting there on a slider and he stayed inside of it sliced over to the left field corner
05:55Martin probably should have came in the second base maybe try to keep Yoshida at first
06:03infield plays in now for Trevor Story
06:07and a fastball at 94 for strike one
06:16look at the field from our Delta drone cam
06:20as the Red Sox are threatening right away today
06:26slicing foul on that one will reach the fans out of place
06:30story hitting just 192
06:32he has 24 strikeouts only one walk
06:35this year and this is on the heels of really his first healthy season with the Red Sox
06:4225 homers last year stole 31 bases
06:45lifetime is hitting
06:46well over 300 against the Twins
06:51it's one of the ways that the game has changed is
06:55first inning playing the infield in particularly with second and third
06:59if they get a ball through the infield it's going to be a couple of runs as opposed to maybe
07:04the old school
07:04you'd play back take the out and be willing to sacrifice giving up one run
07:12splitter on to perk we've seen story in this series chase breaking balls down and away
07:17is the slider from Sim coming to play here
07:19I think whatever he throws you want to make sure it's not in the strike zone
07:23he's got the fourth highest chase rate in baseball 47%
07:29so make him go out of the zone to stay alive
07:34came up at 95 and story
07:39still battling 0-2 count
07:42thought maybe we would have seen the pitch before
07:44that elevated fastball he got to 0-2 on a slider that he made story reach out
07:49bend over go down and get it
07:51he went with the split the high fastball there that might set up a breaking ball on the outside corner
07:56now
07:570-2 is low
07:59slider
08:030-2 is low
08:03Sam is not allowed a first inning run yet this year
08:12Derek Shelton looking out
08:191-2 pitch to short Brooks Lee with the pick
08:22throws the first for the outrunners hold
08:28so the infield in
08:30and the ball hit Molly Wright to Lee and Rafael a no contact play
08:34and that's why the new school strategy of playing in early
08:37maybe save yourself a run a nice adjustment by Brooks
08:41making sure that last little aggressive move forward to smother that short hop
08:48thought the Red Sox might try a contact play in the second third situation
08:52they opted not to do that
08:55now Jared Duran
08:57as a fastball misses high ball one Duran one hit in this series
09:01it was a home run
09:02and got Monday night off Bailey over
09:07getting 182 so far this year
09:19now with two outs this season was Richardson is allowing a 381 batting average against
09:26much of that was from his last start against Toronto as Bert mentioned
09:30numbers went up he was battling food poisoning
09:34and was pitching well early in the game then
09:38as his health went downwards
09:41as the start went along against the Blue Jays over the weekend
09:45he mowed through
09:47the Blue Jays the first time through
09:49and he probably ran out of gas a little bit the Blue Jays made some adjustments
09:55against him that second time through
09:59first base is open Monasterio's on deck
10:02and the 2-1 that'll go foul
10:05two and two
10:07Molly what was your take about maybe pitching around a guy
10:10and setting up maybe a righty righty match up in the first inning
10:13not not too excited about that
10:15you got to trust my starter stuff
10:18I'd like to see here and we all would after making a pitch to get that ground out
10:22keep that runner held at third you want to make it count
10:25you want to get that next guy or if you do put them on base
10:29put that zero up after you executed your pitch on story
10:34to keep them off the board
10:35Rafael is at third
10:37Yoshida is at second
10:38I don't mind it if there's just a guy at second
10:41but I don't like loading the bases
10:433-2 struck him out swinging
10:45with that great splitter once again
10:48so Wiz Richardson his first inning began with a strikeout of Anthony
10:52it ends with a K against Duran
10:54Red Sox had two on one out
10:56they do not score and Sim fired up early on Jackie Robinson day
11:04Derrick Shelton
11:05chatting with Ryan Kreidler
11:07who's batting ninth at third base today
11:09and look at these numbers
11:10Twins have won eight of their last nine
11:12scoring a ton of runs during this recent surge
11:15averaging almost seven runs per game
11:16and the Menards
11:17Twins line up here today
11:19Buxton, Martin, Keyshaw
11:20a familiar group against a lefty
11:23with Victor Caratini DH-ing
11:25Brooks Lee and Kreidler at the bottom
11:27and Byron still seeking his first leadoff home run
11:30of the season
11:31he's at 20 in his career
11:3211 last year and the twin seed lefty
11:35Connelly early here in the series finale
11:37making his eighth big league start
11:39he had four last year this is fourth this year
11:42Red Sox number three prospect
11:45got a good fastball but a really good changeup
11:48and a high super high whiff rate on that slider
11:50I think those two pitches
11:51the changeup and slider are going to be key for him today
11:55ton of depth on the changeup
11:57a lot of dive
12:01at 95
12:02it's 24 years old and Buxton
12:04bites off the fastball at 95
12:06I think he's got just enough fastball velocity to keep hitters honest
12:15then he'll go to that slider
12:18or change up two strikes against right handed hitters
12:22and strikes out Buxton on a fastball up and away at 96
12:27it's now 16 strikeouts and 14 innings for early three plus starts into the season
12:32so one down for Austin Martin
12:37this straight cast
12:39four pitches four fastballs to Byron Buxton
12:48strike called and Austin Martin
12:51one for four so far in this series
12:53the double he has scored twice
12:56Martin hitting over 330 against left handed pitching
13:03as early as just peppering the strike zone in and away 0 and 2
13:16Twins today seeing another left handed starter the 11th time in 19 games the Twins have seen a left handed
13:22starter
13:23OPS is near 900 over the last nine against lefties
13:30Derrick Shelton and a funny joke today that the team is on pace to set some sort of April record
13:35with the amount of left handed starters they have seen so far this season
13:41he probably isn't joking
13:43as Martin hammers one to left down the line back it goes and that is gone
13:50number one for Austin Martin and the Twins now with 15 home runs over the last seven games and here
13:57we go again it is one nothing a target field
14:05I've watched Austin Martin play a lot of baseball and he certainly has been playing well but that might be
14:10the father farthest ball I've ever seen him hit
14:13I think the one thing that we don't see him do very often is turn and burn on the inside
14:17corner
14:19but much like we saw him do against Garrett Crochet don't give up the inside of the plate
14:25and a good 2-2 fastball right on the inside corner but Austin Martin beat him to the spot
14:31it's his third major league home run the prior two both came against the Tigers
14:37April 21st of 24 August 6th of last year
14:41and now it takes early deep here in the opening inning first home run allowed by early
14:48well Twins have been on a roll and a lot of different facets of the game over the last nine
14:53games and power
14:55certainly playing a big part in that
14:59slicing foul and Monasterio over and no play the Twins Molly to your point now 25 home runs
15:06they came in third in baseball not American League but third in baseball
15:13amongst the home run leaders and the Minnesota Twins now
15:18with 25 home runs
15:232-1 to Keyshawn as early try to come in and Keyshawn yanks it foul
15:32Keyshawn's numbers improving 3 for 7 in this series a double he's knocked in 2
15:40primary every day twin second baseman Luke Keyshawn
15:44low strikeout rate
15:51in the air to left center and room for Raffaella
15:56and there are two down Ryan Jeffers coming up but first we take a look at our keys to the
16:01game brought to you by Toyota
16:03yeah a couple points uh today's game you know the starting pitching has been
16:08tremendous over this little surge of winning games eight out of nine
16:11the one hiccup being Simeon in his last start when he was really a little bit under the weather but
16:16still took the ball
16:17and situational hitting whether it's battling
16:20moving runners around getting big home runs
16:23two strike hits
16:25just a lot of things that the way the Twins hitters and their offense as a whole
16:29has been handling various
16:32situational hitting
16:34Ryan Jeffers off to a fantastic start offensively and defensively
16:39here's a guy that's crushing left-handed pitching right now
16:42slugging over 590
16:46did not play last night at three hits
16:49a home run back on Monday as early misses high two and one
16:55Ryan Jeffers could be a free agent at season's end
16:58former second round pick out of UNC Wilmington
17:06three and one
17:11for early
17:12high strikeout rate but also a high walk rate
17:15three starts into his season
17:18progressive wire cam we'll see if Jeffers lets it go here 3-1
17:22he does he grounds it back to the mound
17:24and that's a pitch he wanted to not swing at and early says no reason to flip it I'll take
17:28it myself to the base
17:30and that's out number three the Twins have the early lead
17:32Austin Martin his first of the season third of his career
17:36Buck had a good laugh for the media after the game saying you know when a center fielder
17:41hesitates a bit like that
17:43you don't get a great read so it doesn't happen too often
17:46but that became one of those moments where it's like well
17:48I'm just going to try it and we'll see what happens
17:51did he know that he was safe
17:53Buck said a thousand percent
17:55it's going to be really hard to throw me out when it comes to these bases
17:58not many things are going to make me mad
18:00but if I get thrown out on the bases that is going to be at the top of my list
18:05got to love that fire and of course the confidence from Byron Buxton guys
18:08no doubt Audra and he has scored six times in this series
18:12the Twins have a one nothing lead on a first inning home run from Austin Martin
18:17and per the astute statistician slash all-star closer Glenn Perkins
18:23informing me during the break that the Red Sox this season are 0-7 when trailing
18:28when the opposition scores first
18:33it's a great note Bert well done
18:34well I just read it in the notes that somebody else compiles and sends to us
18:38so I really didn't do much
18:42that's why I let you have it
18:43if I did the work I'm not going to let you have it
18:46it's a good teammate Molly
18:47yeah
18:51Montistario to left
18:52Martin charging coming in and just can't get there in time
18:56where Martin was played perfectly in terms of where he was lined up in the outfield
19:01just had to make a straight charge in but it landed softly in front of him
19:05and the Red Sox have the leadoff man on in Montistario here in the second
19:11well back up slider jammed him
19:21now Marcelo Meyer played Monday did not play last night 0 for 3 on Monday former first round pick
19:27he's the Red Sox second baseman
19:34Myers 23 Anthony's 21 Christian Campbell's in the minor leagues
19:39that trio Molly that's a group we've been hearing a lot about
19:43just looking back at the Red Sox spring training the last couple years
19:46but now Anthony he's we know what his ceiling is
19:48and and Meyer now getting for the most part regular playing time at second
19:52he is I think Anthony's probably the top of the list of what you would project to be
19:58the high-end player of that trio Campbell got off to a decent start last year
20:02but has had trouble refining some of that success
20:06and also battling some injuries along the way
20:14there's Anthony
20:15batting leadoff today
20:18two balls and no strikes on Meyer
20:23with Montistario at first base
20:28ground ball towards second base Lee is there steps and throws him out and the twins turn to
20:38hit the mound Lee was there but thankfully perk Sim did not deflect that ball
20:43I think he tried to go down and get it
20:46but he missed it
20:48and then a great hop
20:50to Brooks Lee nice play
20:53I think Sim
20:56got his glove and his foot out of the way
21:00just so important the positioning that
21:02we placed our infielders at that ball pretty much up the middle even to the
21:08right side of second base but Lee in a
21:10great spot to go ahead and make that pick
21:13easy turn
21:15two down base is empty for Connor Wong his first appearance in the series behind the plate
21:20the day game after a night game
21:23to center shallow and routine for Byron Buxton and the leadoff single erased by the double play
21:29Wong flies out
21:31twins back at it in the second leading by one
21:3515 consecutive games off day tomorrow
21:38Reds are here for three starting on Friday
21:40Josh Bell
21:43a homer three doubles from this side of the plate
21:45and a strike from early
21:51Bell one hit in the series it was a big one
21:54drove in two runs a double off here a crochet early on Monday night
22:06high in the air to left field
22:07and Duran back and he'll have a play
22:11right on the edge of the warning track
22:14and Bell just missed his fourth
22:17speaking of home runs fellows we have seen big swings and plenty of distance here this week
22:24well as the weather warms up the ball carries a little bit more but
22:29it also carries when you hit it 108, 109, 110 off the bat
22:35Caratini and Kreidler both went
22:38almost third deck on Monday night
22:42and you know Josh Bell just missed that slider just underneath the tick
22:47you know the first game here
22:50five balls in the air and a couple of near misses as Sheltie talked about postgame
23:03one ball one strike on Caratini DH in today
23:0895
23:09five and one and two
23:19first time the twins are seeing early
23:22debuted late last season but still maintaining his rookie status here in 2026
23:26he threw in the postseason
23:29big game against the Yankees in October last year
23:35ahead of Caratini 1-2
23:36line to left and that's a base hit
23:41Duran plays it on the warning track and Caratini has a one out single
23:48Caratini now a couple hits here against the Red Sox this week
23:52came in
23:53hitting 438
23:55I should say his on base percentage was 438 against left handed pitching adding to that here early today
24:01a little bit of an under the radar signing
24:04Caratini
24:05some really positive signs early in his work behind the plate versatility playing first
24:11being a switch hitter
24:15and Caratini he signed a two year deal
24:19and that really did impact Josh Bell in a sense perk in terms of how first base was going to
24:24play out
24:26and I think they
24:27mostly signed Bell
24:29to be the DH
24:30he's at first today and he'll get a start here and there
24:35but by and large
24:37he'll be the designated hitter
24:38I think they want to get Jeffers behind the plate as much as they can and then
24:43some combination of Caratini
24:46Cody Clemons at first base
24:48Caratini behind the plate as well
24:49we've seen him DH a couple of times
24:52I think as well
24:541-1 to Walner
24:55slice to shallow left center field
24:57Raffaella
24:59will track it down and the lone lefty per usual
25:01in the lineup against the lefty is Walner
25:04and that now 0 for 7 in this series 2 down for
25:07the surging Brooks Lee
25:09to see a home run yesterday
25:10and Molly we're talking about a guy now that has at least one RBI in six straight games
25:14well we
25:16have enjoyed watching him hit primarily from the right hand side
25:19he's really been lurking working on that left handed swing
25:23and like Burke said last night he was able to get out front
25:25get the bat head
25:26on an inside fastball for his first home run from the left side
25:46a 1 to Lee
25:47and now nothing and 2 on the changeup from Early
25:56the bulk of Early's strikeouts to righties even though he got Buxton with a fastball
26:01the changeup has been the strikeout pitch for Early against righties
26:140-2 on the switch hitting shortstop
26:20timer down to 2
26:23and Lee rolls it up the middle story
26:25under and flip to second for the force and the inning is over
26:29twins lead by one after 2
26:31Devery Foss a member run from Austin Martin
26:34it'll be hitters 9-1 and 2 for the Red Sox
26:37Isaiah Connor Falefa was a twin for one day
26:41spring training a few seasons back
26:44and he came to the twins from the Rangers
26:46the deal that sent Mitch Garver to Texas
26:48and then Connor Falefa was in the clubhouse
26:51at Hammond Stadium at Rod McCormick
26:54and the guys had a locker some gear
26:56the next day traded to the Yankees
26:59along with Josh Donaldson
27:01the deal that brought Gary Sanchez and Gio Urshela
27:04back to the twins
27:09he'll get a Twins Fest invite one day
27:13Connor Falefa
27:170-2 down low
27:18I saw Gary Sanchez the other day
27:20he's playing first base for Milwaukee on a 3-1 play
27:24he got a ground ball
27:25he fired it to the pitcher hit him right in the kneecap
27:27I saw that play
27:30hit him in the chest
27:32or the knee
27:33he panicked
27:361-2 pitch
27:37and that's a foul ball
27:38but he's still swinging that bat
27:41contributing to the
27:42Brewers good start over there
27:46Connor Falefa playing third base today
27:48was that second last night
27:49Caleb Durbin
27:50speaking of Milwaukee
27:51Boston acquired both Durbin and Monasterio
27:54in a February trade
27:56with the Brewers
27:57Durbin off to a slow start
27:59so sitting today and Connor Falefa
28:00at the hot corner
28:03skips near the mound
28:04it's Keyshaw from the shortstop side
28:06his throw is not in time
28:11so Lee playing more to pull
28:13that was Keyshaw shifting over
28:15and Connor Falefa
28:17is on to begin any number three
28:19right
28:24Connor Kalefa gets jammed
28:27Keyshaw went a long way
28:29didn't have really maybe the fluidity
28:32that he needed as far as transfer
28:34and get enough on the throw
28:36one extra step one extra step
28:40leadoff man is on for the second straight inning
28:42and now Anthony
28:45as a curveball misses down low
28:47ball one Anthony struck out of three pitches
28:50as a nasty splitter that sim through to erase Anthony to begin the game
29:02Red Sox have only stolen six bases all year 28th in baseball right now
29:22and no challenge there from Jeffers it did miss competitive but Anthony did not expand now 2-0
29:31well the Red Sox have some guys that can run but sometimes your record
29:35indicates maybe there's not been a lot of opportunities that made sense in terms of scores and things that the
29:42things of the like
29:51three balls and no strikes with Raffaella on deck
29:55Anthony Godd had finished third of the American League Rookie of the Year voting last year
30:04and a great series of target field in July a season ago
30:10and that's a four pitch walk
30:12so two walks for Sim both have been on four pitches to Raffaella in the first and now to Anthony
30:18here in the third
30:18let's dive in a bit more perk on the splitter today from Sim
30:23yeah StatCast 3D brought to you by Google Cloud
30:26it's going to be a huge pitch for him today
30:28not only because it may be his best off-speed pitch that he throws non-fastball
30:32but the Boston Red Sox as a team came into this series
30:36swinging and missing at 45% of off-speed pitches
30:39that's the highest in baseball
30:42so far today Sim has three swing and misses
30:46and they're all on that split
30:50Red Sox have swung at seven of them came up empty three times
30:56twins have turned one double play so far today
31:00one slicing foul and lands out of play 0-2 on Raffaella
31:07low strikeout rate low walk rate
31:10Raffaella did walk in four straight back in the first
31:21two on nobody out
31:250-2 poke to right just over the head of Bill
31:28and everybody moves up one
31:32so the Red Sox load him up
31:34and here comes Masataki Yoshida
31:44some nice hitting with two strikes by Raffaella
31:47yeah some nice hitting with two strikes by Raffaella
31:50Kalefa had kind of Kalefa had to kind of hold his ground in case
31:53Bell was able to corral that line drive
31:57I'm surprised that Bell might not have had a little more depth in a two strike count there
32:03nobody out for Masataki Yoshida big spot here for Sim and that's his best velocity so far today at 96
32:11first at bat this year for Yoshida with the bases loaded
32:17see the twins defensively
32:20Yoshida double to left in the first
32:23look out towards the twins dugout 0-2
32:27let's go back to where you're talking about Molly and take a look at where Josh Bell was defending
32:31well you know Raffaella he could bunt he's got speed
32:35I just think you get a little more depth there once the count gets into two strikes
32:38you're probably not going to double him up very often on a 3-6-3
32:43go ahead and try to increase your range by
32:46backing up a little bit
32:51slider never broke ball one
32:57this is with a spot where Sim ran into trouble against Toronto
33:00second time the lineup
33:01saw him
33:03some weak contact though induced by Sim this half inning
33:07needs an out
33:091-2 pitch rolled weakly to the right side
33:11Keishaw going out bobble
33:13and everybody's safe and he throws it away
33:16and a second run will score
33:19and so Keishaw
33:22one decision led to another poor decision
33:24the Red Sox have a 2-1 lead
33:26with runners at 2nd and 3rd
33:28and still nobody out
33:36oh he compounded one mistake with another
33:39and something you see from young players from time to time
33:44the bobble there he wants to try to make something happen
33:47and an ill-advised throw
33:50cost the Twins an extra run
33:54you know you get that ground ball that situation
33:57you know you're really hoping to try to turn 2
33:59he got a little fast on the pivot
34:02didn't make the transition cleanly
34:05and yes trying to make something when there's nothing there with that
34:08Aaron throw to first base kind of compounds the issue
34:18so beating at the mound led by pitching coach Pete Mackey
34:21and now
34:23Yoshida's at 2nd
34:24Rafael is at 3rd
34:25and 2 are in and the Red Sox have the lead
34:32first time the Red Sox have led in this series
34:36there's Trevor Story infield stays in
34:42a swing and a fly ball left field
34:44trouble Martin going back track to the wall and that is gone
34:48so right after the mound visit Trevor Story
34:51with a 3 run homer and now the Red Sox put up a crooked number
34:54and have a 5-1 lead
35:05second home run for Story both have come on this road trip
35:08and the Twins are down by 4 and still nobody out
35:12trying to get ahead with the first pitch breaking ball
35:14he didn't put it in a bad spot
35:17but Story a lot of pop in that bat
35:19even when he's out front a little bit
35:22enough to get it out
35:23we don't see that curveball too often
35:26from Sim
35:26as you said a lot of times maybe first pitch
35:29he'll try to steal a strike
35:30hoping the guy just goes ahead and takes it
35:33but not in that situation
35:39it's the fourth home run a lot by was Richardson first
35:42Molly to your point on the breaking ball on his curveball
35:46so now we'll hit the reset button
35:48face is empty nobody out Jaron Duran struck out on a splitter
35:52in the first
35:54this is popped up on the infield
35:57and Kreidler calling and catching
36:00there is out number one
36:04well April 15th marks Jackie Robinson's historic MLB debut
36:10Robinson's courage and determination of the face of adversity

36:25strike on Monasterio
36:27Bobby Nightingale Jr. had a wonderful story today in the Star Tribune just talking about
36:33our game today and
36:36the Twins have a major league baseball high six black players on their roster
36:41and an opening day across the game there were only two starting pitchers
36:46only two black starting pitchers on opening day rosters across the game
36:51and the Twins have two of them
36:53and Sim and Taj Bradley
36:55two of the eight
36:57it's a great story
36:58and LaTroy Hawkins is featured prominently in Bobby's story
37:02and also going back to Sim and Taj
37:04and where they first met as part of the dream series
37:07and certainly worth your time
37:09it's a great story by Bobby
37:11and especially on a day like today
37:13and especially on a day like today
37:21a 3-1 count to Monasterio singled softly to left in the second
37:43split grip there from Sim
37:44ball in his glove
37:473-2 to right center Buxton angling back and over
37:51he'll get there
37:52good route on that ball
37:54and Monasterio
37:57he is out number 2
38:02Sim
38:08lost track of outs there for a moment he heard the emotion he thought that was out number 3 just
38:12out number 2 and now has to
38:15recalibrate on the mound here with Marcelo Meyer
38:22Meyer
38:23Meyer double play ball in the second
38:25and Keishol
38:27from shallow right clips to first to end the inning
38:29for the Red Sox bad 8 do some damage
38:32twins have worked to do now trailing 5-1
38:35we went on that 13 game stretch we didn't have an off day and you know just being able to
38:40get these guys some rest and being able to go out there and cover six house as opposed to you
38:45know nine and twelve outs that's huge and our starters been doing a great job and our offense is scoring
38:49a lot of runs and that definitely helps on Sunday we saw Andrew Morris make his big league debut which
38:54means it was also a first for you as a new bullpen coach having your first guy coming out into
38:58the game to make his debut what did you do to help him prepare and make sure he was ready
39:02to go?
39:03I just told him straight up hey you worked your whole life for this moment this is you and Jeffers
39:07playing catch don't try to overdo it and go have some fun young man
39:12it's a special day today Jackie Robinson day I talked to you and Simeon and Taj Bradley about the significance
39:18of this day you have a special connection to the two of them a relationship that goes way back to
39:23the dream series can you tell us about that and what it was like to be around them when they
39:27were young kids?
39:28yeah I met both those guys when they were 16 years old at the MLB develops one of the programs
39:32called the dream series over MLK weekend and that particular program is just to get the pitchers and the catchers
39:38you know ready for their season they come in to Arizona Tempe and you know just get some instructions from
39:44some guys who actually played the game and you know they can take that back and hopefully get them their
39:48mind right and get their mechanics and all that stuff right for their season and you know lo and behold
39:53you know I got a chance to coach them in 2026 so it's almost probably you know eight years later
39:58and
39:58and it's a full circle moment for me very cool we appreciate your time as always we'll let you get

40:24and the twins have only used four relievers in this series Orzee and Acton through on Monday Rogers and Sands
