00:00After last time out first couple stars did not go the way that Dustin May wanted it to last time
00:06though against the Nats six strong innings only gave up one run didn't walk anybody and struck out for so
00:12a little bit more of that would be great the pitch arsenal for Dustin May he attacks with that good
00:17foreseen fastball averaging about 97 miles an hour saw an uptick in velocity in that one sweeper sinker cutter change
00:24and curve and we know with Dustin the what he did in that last game he got ahead he was
00:29able
00:29to pound the zone that's what you're going to want to see in this one for him and hopefully some
00:33swing and miss for May the Cardinals defense has been busy in this series they had a good night last
00:38night Nathan Church with his first walk off RBI rewarded with a start in left Victor Scott Jordan Walker with
00:45his 10 game hit streak in right field around the horn Burleson Weatherholt Mason when Nolan Gorman and Pedro Pias
00:51is the man behind the plate that's Steven Vogt his Guardians made a big mistake in the ninth inning that
00:58allowed the Cardinals to tie it and eventually
00:59win an extra innings and again Brad every one of their batters for the second game in this series capable
01:05of hitting from the left side just definitely a different challenge we talked about in the ball game last night
01:11against McGreevy same lineup and look you got to make sure you're just not falling into patterns where each guy
01:17is seeing the same things really have to be able to mix it up quite a bit something that Dustin
01:21May has got the arsenal to do Ali was beaming after the win last night understandably so down to your
01:27last strike
01:27nobody aboard you find a way to tie it and win it that's been the calling card for the Redbirds
01:32so far this year as they are perfect in extra inning play and St. Louis already seven comeback wins let's
01:40see if we can have a wire to wire winner today and take home another series here at Busch Stadium
01:45Stephen Kwan leads off at 239 on the year and May gets ahead that's good sign strike one says Alex
01:55McKay our home plate umpire
01:58got started about five minutes late because of the inclement weather but skies are clearing high above baseball heaven no
02:09balls two strikes big curve ball one two for ten in the series made his presence felt last night with
02:16a tremendous diving catch that turned into a Guardians double play
02:26in the series feet close together for the left hand hitting Kwan like the idea right there run that upstairs
02:36yet is a very interesting setup especially for a guy that hits for as much contact a lot of times
02:42you see bigger power hitter starting like that get the big stride but he's able to get that foot down
02:47quickly bat to ball
02:50and he shoots one inside the line wow what a good piece of hitting Churchill dig that out here comes
02:56the throw to second way off target but no further advance how about Kwan second time in the series the
03:03Guardians have sent one guided down the third baseline for extra bases well this is a very good two strike
03:10approach he ends up getting a four seam fastball at the top of the zone that he can handle watch
03:14the hand stay in purpose with that and had a wide open left side to
03:19to work with bragging on the Cardinals Brad and all of their comeback wins the problem has been they've had
03:25to come back early in the game although it's been basically the recipe because Cardinal starters in the first inning
03:31have an ERA of almost a six at this point not exactly a trend you want to see continue second
03:38action in the series for chase to water he was over five last night the water five homers twelve RBIs
03:45he's a rookie candidate for Cleveland
03:49their goal keep this kid healthy two homers on opening day and twelve RBIs overall on the year we've seen
04:06with him early in his career that power is going to be to the pole side anything on the plate
04:10in and cover it top to bottom there is room inside off the plate
04:22two balls and a strike got to keep an eye on Kwan Mason playing right behind him up the middle
04:36at shortstop
04:44and another shot to left but it's an even count two balls two strikes Cardinals could use length out of
04:53their starter it's really been five innings robust for the group as a whole by and large that means your
04:57bullpen's got to cover four innings a game pretty sure that's about exactly where the number is on the season
05:04is at five innings
05:05the first pitch pitch per game start that puts Cardinals right around 19th or 20th in baseball round ball will
05:12get the runner to third good trip to the plate for the water that was unselfish so the first run
05:19of the game 90 feet away is Dusty Blake and Yadier Molina are again conversing in the Cardinals dugout I
05:25just love seeing those two next to each other both seeing the same game obviously have had different perspectives of
05:31it
05:31you know that Dusty is fantastic at the game planning knows his pitchers really well while Yadier Molina has been
05:41back there behind the plate and on his way to Cooperstown he's seen a little bit of everything what a
05:46resource to have
05:50there's a break that's a foul ball strike can't be fun playing in with this guy yeah he's hitting to
05:5717 but he's heated up in this series with four hits
06:00including a home run we told you last night how good the Guardians have been with two outs we'll keep
06:06an eye on that today as well
06:17Ramirez the designated hitter today
06:22Субтитры делал DimaTorzok
06:49but just ate it halfway through
06:51did a good enough job to keep
06:53himself in the rundown so at
06:54least Ramirez could get the
06:56second base but a big time play
06:58early in this ballgame.
07:04So Kyle Manzardo with two outs.
07:08He had a couple of hits and is
07:10batting 146 after last night's
07:12play.
07:15I will say this defensively the
07:17Cardinals have been on point in
07:19all of the games this year.
07:20They have been very
07:21fundamentally sound and they got
07:26a little help on the slip but
07:27hey they took advantage of it.
07:29Yeah and still I mean I really
07:30do think that wins still would
07:32have got him it would have been
07:32close at the plate but he had the
07:34right guy coming up throwing
07:35that's for sure.
07:37And that defense as we talked
07:38about a lot early in this season
07:39it's going to be so important.
07:41They're going to play tight games.
07:43This isn't going to be an offense
07:44that puts a 10 spot on you every
07:45night.
07:46And they're going to play tight
07:46with a snap throw back to second.
07:49And let's face it to the arsenal
07:52of this staff is not filled with
07:54strikeout stuff.
07:55No their contact.
07:57They are the ball is going to be
07:58on the ground or in the air.
07:59Yeah.
08:00It's one of the lowest with rates
08:01in baseball for the staff from
08:03the top to bottom.
08:04So defense is going to have to be
08:06ready going to have to position
08:07well a ball and a strike Ramirez
08:12leads at second and up and away
08:16Valero waits on deck outfield is
08:32straight away the pitch now two
08:36and two Dustin went six innings
08:51against the Red Sox he's about to
08:56make his sixteenth pitch of the
08:58inning fourth batter up by did a
09:05left center field that's going to
09:07score Ramirez and Manzardo with
09:09his second hit of the year with a
09:11runner in scoring position gives
09:13Cleveland a one to nothing lead.
09:15So those first inning issues rise
09:16up again.
09:18Manzardo's third RBI going to have
09:20to be a comeback victory yet again
09:22for the Redbirds sweeper wanted
09:25to get in under the hands ended
09:27up leaving at center cut very
09:29a very simple swing by Manzardo
09:35George Valera next he's the left
09:38fielder today.
09:43And that paints a corner.
09:48Jose Ramirez just scored his
09:501,000 tenth run.
09:53That ties him with Willie McGee for
09:56forty first all time among switch
09:57hitters.
10:01Hopefully that's the last run he'll
10:03get today.
10:04Filed away.
10:05And quickly 0 and 2 for Valera.
10:14Valera got the start in right
10:16field last night.
10:18He's in left field today this is a
10:20Guardians team that has a ton of
10:22interchangeable parts.
10:25And it's a luxury for.
10:27Steven vote their skipper and
10:30strike three shaves off the
10:31inside corner.
10:32What a run on two hits.
10:35Well this young scrappy team just
10:37keeps on finding ways to make it
10:39interesting.
10:39They did that last night.
10:40You can't do it any better than
10:42J.J.
10:42Weatherholt did for Oliver Marmel.
10:44Excellent night defensively.
10:46Two long homers and the Cardinals
10:49took advantage of a Guardians
10:50error in the night to get it
10:51tied and then won it in the
10:53tenth.
10:56Slade Ciccone is the starter
10:58today for the Guardians.
10:59No run support in his first two
11:01starts and an 0 and 2 record.
11:03Oh.
11:03Okay.
11:03Last time out two against
11:05Atlanta he had been cruising
11:06through five ran into a buzz on
11:09the sixth inning though.
11:10Greeted with a couple of homers.
11:12J.J.
11:13Got jammed and rolls out to first
11:15for out number one.
11:17What does Slade Ciccone feature?
11:19Ciccone has got that four seam
11:21cutter, curve, sinker, sweeper,
11:23and slider.
11:24His strikeouts so far this season
11:26have come on the four seam and
11:27the curve ball.
11:28He's got six each of those
11:31offerings out of his 14 strikeouts
11:33of the year.
11:38He's got to be ready to pull the
11:46trigger at the time.
11:47Yvonne Herrera got into the home
11:50run column last night.
11:51First RBI in seven days for him.
11:54He's the Cardinals designated
11:55hitter today.
11:57And the St.
11:58Louis designated hitters need to hit
12:01a little more.
12:01It's been a sore spot just nine
12:04hits by the Cardinals DHS to start
12:06the season.
12:09One ball one strike.
12:10So with that in mind Brad what's
12:11your Toyota key today.
12:12Yeah it's top heavy.
12:13Ollie's offense you want to see
12:15those top guys get it done.
12:17That's what they did yesterday.
12:18Weatherholt with a couple of homers.
12:19Herrera had his first homer.
12:20Burleson's been hitting the ball
12:22harder.
12:22That's something that had been a
12:23little quiet recently is the top
12:26of this order is going to be a
12:27big thing.
12:28These guys set the tempo.
12:30Certainly top to bottom you
12:31need to get production.
12:32You want to be top heavy in this
12:34lineup.
12:37Two balls hit a strike.
12:40For Herrera did mean to and that
12:43is rolled the first that's fair
12:44ball they'll step on the bag for
12:46the out.
12:47Was the ball in play or was it a
12:49hit batsman Herrera shaking his
12:51right hand.
12:52He's going to be checked on.
12:53Will they say he offered at that
12:55pitch if he did it's not a hit
12:58batsman.
13:09He tried to check the swing for
13:12the moment.
13:14There's no call.
13:15That sinker just kept running in
13:17on his hands definitely tried to
13:19check up.
13:26A.
13:27Herrera being attended to by Adam
13:28Olsen the Cardinals athletic
13:30trainer.
13:31And now Alan Porter and Alex
13:32McKay are going to chat.
13:34The ball stayed fair.
13:36Rolled right to Manzardo at first
13:37he stepped on the bag.
13:39There was no out call made.
13:42I don't believe.
13:43So we'll have to wait and see if
13:45this ball is.
13:49Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok
14:20So there's your explanation as to what the Cardinals are challenging.
14:23As we said, if you are ruled to have offered at the pitch and it hits you,
14:29the outcome is kept.
14:33Well, we'll see how the umpiring crew looks at this one.
14:37That one, I'm just, first of all, glad to see him.
14:40He's shaking the hand a little bit, but doesn't look too much worse for the wear on this one.
14:44One smile on the face there of Herrera.
14:48So, Laz Diaz and Marvin Hudson, our replay officials at MLB Replay Operations Center.
14:54I think it'd be fascinating to hear their deliberations on a broadcast.
14:58Maybe we can find a way to make that happen.
15:04So, Alan Porter, the crew chief, awaits their verdict.
15:07Again, if that's ruled a swing, the ball was in play and fair, it'll be an out.
15:12If they rule that he didn't offer at the pitch, it clearly hit him on the fingertips.
15:19So, Ciccone's got to wait a few more moments.
15:21He'll continue to play catch with Bo Naylor here.
15:28Let's take a look at this one again here for Herrera.
15:31He's swinging right about now.
15:32He's trying to slow up.
15:35He definitely looks like he went.
15:37Well, you know what the Cardinals are saying?
15:38The ball hit his hand first and then it hit the back.
15:41Right.
15:42So, this should be, with that great angle, that should be a hit by pitch.
15:48At least that's my take on it.
15:50I like your take.
15:51Thank you.
15:53Watch.
16:00After review, the call on the field is overturned.
16:03The batter was hit by the pitch.
16:05However, because he offered at it, it is a dead ball strike.
16:10St. Louis will retain their challenge.
16:12The batter will stay at bat with a 2-2 count.
16:15So, that's a mixed bag, right?
16:17He was hit by the pitch, but because he offered, it's considered a foul ball.
16:22And Herrera, not out, up, and now gets to swing with a sore hand.
16:27Wow, that right there, too.
16:28Alan Porter, fantastic job of explaining that on the broadcast,
16:32explaining it to the group here at Busch Stadium.
16:34That's how that should be done in a play like this.
16:37Nice work there by Alan.
16:40So, a momentary delay for Ciccone.
16:43Two balls, two strikes.
16:47And now, three and two.
16:49Herrera knows about this sequence.
16:51He's walked 15 times already this year.
16:53The Cardinals.
16:54And he'd love to get on in front of that man, Alec Burleson.
17:001-0 Guardians.
17:01He got a first inning run.
17:03On a Kyle Manzardo single.
17:06That brought in Ramirez.
17:17Downstairs, ball four, walk number 16 for Herrera.
17:20So, just to serve, he ends up at first base anyway, with one man out.
17:25Here's the Guardians defense.
17:26It's been very good despite the error last night.
17:29They've made just six errors so far in 2026.
17:33Don't hit it to Quan.
17:35He can catch everything.
17:36We saw that last night.
17:37Daniel Schneem in his third position in his many games.
17:40That was another great play for Quan last night.
17:42Laid out.
17:43Ended up doubling off J.J. Weatherholt.
17:46One of four double plays that the Guardians turned in the ballgame.
17:50And we talked about that with Ali as well.
17:53The double plays stink.
17:54But the thought process and the attempted execution didn't.
17:57Yeah.
17:57Well, you brought it up to him and say, hey, look, it looked like guys were trying to do the
18:00job
18:01and go the other direction.
18:02He said, absolutely.
18:03He said, look, that's what we want.
18:04We want to teach that style of baseball.
18:07These guys have an idea of what they're doing.
18:09Another foot or so further to the right, the job is done.
18:13Unfortunately, a couple of double plays in that one.
18:15But he likes the process.
18:17Well, here's an opportunity for Burleson to utilize that process.
18:21Look at what the Guardians infield defense gives him in his first inning.
18:28And that's fouled at the plate.
18:30A ball and two strikes.
18:38A little slip and slide action for Ciccone on the mound with that pitch.
18:44But it worked out to his favor.
18:45He's now ahead in the count.
18:47Well, I went with a curveball.
18:49There's been cutter, cutter, curveball.
18:51Does he try to sneak a fastball at the top?
18:53If he does, you know, Burley's hands are pretty quick.
18:57Sharply head up the middle, right center field.
19:00Herrera cuts the bag at second.
19:02He's on his way to third.
19:04Burleson has a hit.
19:05And the Cardinals are in business.
19:06Well, right on time, he did.
19:08He did try to throw that four-seam fastball up at the top.
19:11I don't think he got it quite as high as he wanted to.
19:13But the fast hands of Alec Burleson ready for this one.
19:17Fastball up, out, away, and just driven back up the box.
19:26It's a great look at the hands there, that bat speed.
19:29The hands don't travel much either.
19:31I mean, it's basically you're set and fire.
19:35That's what Jordan Walker's done.
19:37He leads the big leagues in homers with eight.
19:41Ten-game hitting streak for Walker.
19:43Of his eight homers, six have been solo shots.
19:45Let's change that here in the first inning, shall we?
19:51And seven homers during the streak.
19:56Swing and popped up.
19:58Valera in left is charging in.
20:01Herrera late to tag.
20:03He's going to go halfway.
20:05Burleson advances, though.
20:06Good base running by Alec.
20:08And Herrera might have helped him out with a deacon third.
20:11That was very good base running right there.
20:13He read that well.
20:14As soon as that throw started coming into the cutoff, man,
20:17Burley takes off while you still have two outs.
20:19Now you've got two guys in scoring position.
20:26A couple of hard first steps there by Herrera.
20:29He gets the job done.
20:30The read of the throw.
20:31No, it never slowed down.
20:35Details matter.
20:36Little things.
20:37Now you need a big knock behind him by Gorman.
20:40Nine RBIs for Nolan.
20:42Let's see if he can make some contact here.
20:46They pinch in at third for him.
20:48And he swings the first pitch and pops it up.
20:51Valera in left is in and under.
20:54And he's got that.
20:55And the Cardinals are out of luck in a bottom of the first inning shot.
20:59One-nothing Guardians.
21:00We head to the second.
21:02And it's a fun day at Bush Stadium.
21:04It's always fun to catch up with Jim Hayes.
21:06Yeah, Dustin May is coming off a good start in his last outing.
21:10Six innings, one earned against Boston.
21:13His previous two starts were meh.
21:15But after picking up the W against the Bosox, he said, I needed it bad.
21:19He said, I definitely was scrambling, trying to figure some stuff out.
21:23Dustin went six, would have liked to have gone deeper.
21:26And guys, he said the key was getting ahead in counts.
21:29Didn't do that in his first two starts.
21:31Matt, is that a technical term, Jim?
21:33Because I like it a lot.
21:34Matt, you know, it's like, not great, not bad.
21:38Matt, it's right in the middle.
21:39All right, well, hopefully this is better than Matt for May in game four of his season.
21:47A two-out run scoring hit has him behind one-nothing with Juan Brito up.
21:57And in for a strike three switch hitters, six left-handed bats for the Guardians in the lineup.
22:41That's going to be big.
22:46All the left-handers got to be able to work that side of the plate.
22:50He can't have him dive in on that sinker, on that chain jump.
22:53Got to keep him on as that cutter will do it.
22:57You think pitching inside is a, if not lost art, a rare art in the game today?
23:01I think it's one of the guys just simply can't execute enough.
23:04And maybe don't trust themselves enough for fear of standing up.
23:07Hitters got there.
23:08I'd say this, hitters have no fear of getting hit.
23:12I'm not saying you go out there and dot people, but making somebody uncomfortable and having the ability to do
23:18that.
23:18Now, the key is you have to command it.
23:19You can't go ask a guy that has no idea where the ball is going to pitch inside because he's
23:23just going to end up getting somebody hurt and ultimately getting his ball club hurt.
23:26But I believe it's incredibly important to pitch inside.
23:31Schneeman calls that to left.
23:32So he's got three hits in the series.
23:35And just look at where guys are standing in the batter's box.
23:37I think that's indicative of your point.
23:39They're right on top of the plate.
23:40There is no fear of that inside corner right.
23:43Trying to take that away from you.
23:44We saw that very evident.
23:46We saw it for years.
23:47But in the Boston series with Contreras, Contreras' toes on the line as close as you get, just daring you.
23:53Because if you come inside, he's going to glare at you and be all angry about it.
23:58And ultimately, sometimes you just pull one off out over the plate.
24:03And then that's right in his sweet spot.
24:06Bo Naylor is the backstop and takes an outside corner strike.
24:10No homers or RBIs for Naylor batting 143.
24:14He does have a hit here in St. Louis.
24:18You'll see his brother Josh and the Mariners when we get back from our road trip.
24:24It's going to be a good test for the Cardinals next time here at Bush.
24:27Seattle and the Dodgers.
24:30Better be ready.
24:31Better be ready.
24:32Look, this club has been checking boxes along the way.
24:35It hasn't been perfect to this point.
24:37But they're figuring out ways to win games.
24:39Are playing that good team style.
24:41Hopefully catching the Astros at the right time.
24:44They've struggled as of late.
24:45Miami figuring out some ways to win some ballgames.
24:48They can pitch.
24:49Wow.
24:50That was a pretty good pitch.
24:51No challenge.
24:53But it was off the plate at 98.
24:56We have the advantage of that.
24:58The dugouts don't.
25:03One ball, two strikes.
25:05Cleveland, three hits in the game.
25:08A double and two singles.
25:12Swing and a miss.
25:13May has his second strikeout.
25:16Naylor can't connect.
25:18And Brian Rocchio is your next batter.
25:20Well, his first strikeout was on a changeup looking.
25:23This time it comes on a cutter just up above the zone.
25:27Was trying to tie him up in.
25:28But the elevation is what got the swing and miss.
25:32A couple of homers for Rocchio.
25:37And four driven in.
25:39Excuse me.
25:39Eight driven in.
25:42As that's.
25:45Going to chase Schneeman back to first.
25:51Guardians are 10 and 8 in the early going.
25:55Their lead.
25:58Disappeared.
25:58They are a game behind the surging Minnesota Twins in the central.
26:03Runner goes.
26:04Pitch high.
26:05For the second is.
26:07Caught on a short hop.
26:08Terrific grab by Mason Wynn.
26:11He's a gold glover.
26:12You know.
26:13He handles the hop and boy the quickest hands.
26:15In the West.
26:17Another quick tag.
26:18He let the ball travel and that was key to take care of.
26:21Freeby and.
26:22Michael we are celebrating Jackie Robinson's legacy.
26:25All around baseball today.
26:27And the caps are really cool inside.
26:29Part of that remembering Jackie Robinson.
26:32Show that to the camera guy.
26:33How cool is that.
26:35I mean you see the.
26:36The biolog.
26:37The biographical information in there.
26:39You see the picture.
26:40Tell me what this means to you.
26:41Like around baseball.
26:43For a guy who really.
26:45Kind of blazed the trail.
26:47Yeah.
26:48I mean it's super cool.
26:50I text my family.
26:50It's just one of those days where.
26:52Like being in the big leagues is just that much cooler.
26:56Seeing the number on your back.
26:5742.
26:58It's.
26:58It's unreal.
27:00Can't say enough about what Jackie Robinson did in the legacy.
27:04And just to be a part of this day today is pretty cool.
27:07It is really cool.
27:08Let's talk about your start yesterday.
27:10Five innings.
27:11A couple of solo homers.
27:13And we talked after the game.
27:14If you're going to give up a couple of homers.
27:16Solos are pretty good.
27:17Yeah so solos won't kill you.
27:19That's for sure.
27:21You know just two bad pitches.
27:23I thought not even terrible pitches.
27:25I wouldn't even go back to.
27:26I wouldn't even take them back.
27:27Just good swings on a couple heaters.
27:30But no that's a tough lineup.
27:31Nine lefties.
27:32Tough to get through.
27:33But pitch count is a little high.
27:34So would like to go six.
27:35But need to do a better job.
27:37You know limiting the pitch count.
27:38How much of a challenge is it when they stack it like that with lefties?
27:42Yeah it's always a challenge.
27:43Lefties just hit righties harder naturally.
27:45But I view as a challenge really just try to get better at attacking lefties in my career.
27:50How about Dustin May?
27:52Tell me what he has brought to the rotation.
27:54Just a ton of movement I think.
27:57It's incredible watching his bullpens.
27:59His catch play.
27:59I play catch with a ton.
28:02And his stuff moves like crazy.
28:05And just to see him go about his business and use every different type of pitch is incredible.
28:10Victor Scott II can bunt.
28:12We appreciate the chat.
28:13Thank you.
28:13Thanks.
28:14This guy's good TV Chip.
28:16He's great TV.
28:17A great kid.
28:18And he's off to a super start.
28:20How about the bunt from Nathan Church?
28:22You're right Jim.
28:23Nathan and Victor Scott.
28:25Two bunt threats in this lineup today.
28:26You like it right?
28:28Take what the opposition is giving you.
28:29You have that left side open.
28:32Drop down a perfect bunt.
28:34Now Pedro Paz has bats.
28:36Runner goes.
28:37Pitch is a strike.
28:38So is the throw to second.
28:40But not in time.
28:42Church got in.
28:44A great call by Jim Wolfe and the Redbirds have another man in scoring position.
28:49Well again we're just talking about well Vic can drop down the bunt so can church.
28:54Well church has got the wheels also.
28:56Naylor's got a good arm behind the plate.
28:57Throws this one on a dime.
29:00But able to get that left hand in and then keep connection to the bag all the way through.
29:05That keeps you out of the double play.
29:09And now outside we've talked with Ali about the desire of the Cardinals to be aggressive on the base pass.
29:16But there's a lot more to it than just the speed of the base runner.
29:19Yeah look there's a lot of different factors in different spots especially in different counts.
29:23You're factoring in what is the strikeout rate for a pitcher.
29:27What is the ground ball rate for the pitcher.
29:29What is the contact rate for the hitter.
29:32Like so many different variables that go into stealing bags often times.
29:37But one variable that's always there is speed.
29:39Church has got plenty of speed.
29:40I don't care what the variables are.
29:42If Scott is on base you feel pretty comfortable about Vic being able to rip one.
29:46But other than that you don't just do it randomly.
29:50There are the right elements to do so.
29:52So church's first big league walk off play last night.
29:56He is the third cardinal to reach scoring position today.
30:001-0 your score were in the second.
30:051-0 your score was in the second and now Pahez ahead of McCown Slade Ciccone 7-7 in his
30:13starting assignments last year.
30:15Over 100 strikeouts.
30:19He's gotten five runs of support in his first three games pitched.
30:23He leads 1-0 today.
30:25Is that one curling toward the seats?
30:27And a full count.
30:32He leads 1-0 kind of an interesting dynamic too with Slade Ciccone and Bo Naylor behind the plate.
30:41Remember Slade came over for the Diamondbacks for Josh Naylor for his brother.
30:49Three balls two strikes.
30:53Hot shot.
30:55He's hit left field.
30:56Here comes church.
30:57They're going to wave him around.
30:58Here's the throw.
30:59It's off target up the line and Pahez takes an extra 90 feet.
31:05How about the Cardinals base running in the first two innings?
31:09But there is no hesitation and can't be on this one.
31:13Valera is coming up throwing but Pop Warner third base coach he had church going from jump street.
31:20He was ready to rock and roll scoring on this one.
31:22First the pitch a sinker middle drives it right through the left side.
31:26Watch church.
31:27He is thinking scoring right away.
31:34So the Cardinals had their sixth hit with runners in scoring position on the homestand.
31:39They have tied the game and taking advantage of Ciccone is falling behind.
31:45Almost everybody in the first two frames.
31:51See if Victor can't pick up a hit.
31:55In for a strike.
31:56Schneeman in on the grass at third base.
32:00Rokio trying to keep pie as close at second.
32:05Victor can flip one to left.
32:07We'll take the lead here.
32:17That pitch tough to hit the other way.
32:19Scott couldn't one ball two strikes.
32:24One single stolen base.
32:26And a base hit to left has our game tied.
32:30Church takes off.
32:32Swing and a miss.
32:33There'll be no throw.
32:35And Pahez steals third base.
32:38Had him timed up right.
32:41Pick your spots.
32:43If a guy falls into a routine not checking on you go ahead and go.
32:48That was the case right there.
32:49Jumping lead.
32:51And easily swiping third.
32:53Now you're just a wild pitch away from taking a lead.
33:00That's his third career stolen base.
33:06And now J.J. Weatherholt with a runner at third and two outs.
33:12Next time Pedro does that I wanted to rip the bag out of the.
33:17Holder and hold it up like Ricky Henderson.
33:19You think so.
33:20Yeah.
33:20Why not.
33:20All right.
33:21A little flair for the dramatic.
33:23Yeah.
33:28Upstairs.
33:29A ball and a strike.
33:31Weatherholt.
33:34Ten walks.
33:35Eleven runs.
33:37Three thirty eight on base.
33:39De Lauder.
33:41Playing practically at the riverfront in right.
33:44As they crowd him with that pitch and missed two balls and a strike.
34:09They're really focusing on not letting him be able to get extended right.
34:14Really want to work on that inner half if you open it up enough then you can turn something over
34:22the other way.
34:23Just so I take a look at the left side where Steven backs off the line and a high curve
34:30ball.
34:30A little lower and that ball might have ended up going through the arch.
34:35So a full count for Weatherholt.
34:40Herrera waits next three full counts for Slade Ciccone in the game.
34:48And JJ patiently takes ball four.
34:51That to me is as impressive as anything he's done.
34:54You know kids want to get up and make an impression swing the bat put up the big numbers.
34:57He is taking what they're giving him and he's not afraid to walk.
35:02And it's a great skill set to have patience is a virtue they say and he's definitely got it.
35:09Herrera Jim Hayes got hit in the first.
35:11What can you tell us.
35:12Yeah it was on that swing check swing thing.
35:15I asked him how his hand is doing.
35:17He said it's fine.
35:18I asked him if it hurt at first.
35:19He said a little but no problem.
35:21And he's ready to take the setback chip.
35:23First and third for it.
35:24And a quick strike.
35:31Herrera the Cardinals designated hitter today.
35:43George walked in the first inning.
35:46Ricky Doherty our great stat man reminds us the 16 walks for Herrera is tied for most in the major
35:52leagues.
35:53He and Burleson had been patient.
35:55So is Weatherholt.
35:56They're getting on.
35:57Now we got to get these guys hot and bring them in.
36:04That's down the right field line.
36:05DeLawner gives Cheney spot a curls foul.
36:09Cardinals are getting great jumps on Ciccone.
36:13But JJ has to head back to first and a two strike count.
36:17That one ended up dropping.
36:19JJ was going to score very easily on that.
36:22Ciccone is going to have to start checking those runners mixing up his timing a little bit.
36:26Or Pop Warner and Cardinals offense.
36:29He's going to keep taking advantage.
36:39They play Herrera straight up.
36:41He sprays the ball line to line when he's right.
36:48But every Cardinal fan is craving a two out hit.
37:03Boy let that ball travel.
37:05That was a nice job at the plate.
37:18Already 40 pitches for the Guardian starter.
37:25JJ runs and Herrera fought her off.
37:33И вот и все, что он.
37:34И вот и там.
37:35И вот и он.
37:35Поехали.
37:37За это рейтинг.
37:37Суфинир.
37:39Краин.
37:39Ух.
37:42И.
37:49Он.
37:50И.
37:52И.
37:52И.
37:53Тааааааааааа.
37:54Ухея.
37:56Что-то.
37:57раз по 4.
38:02And for the second straight
38:04inning we've got him 2nd and 3rd
38:06with 2 outs.
38:07He's got the base open he's
38:08gonna wanna try to get Herrera
38:10to expand.
38:11We just talked about all of
38:12these walks he's unlikely to do
38:14it keep fighting off.
38:18I don't think that Ciccone wants
38:20to get to bases loaded with
38:23Alec Burleson up eight pitches
38:27and they keep putting it on the
38:30hands of Herrera to find out if
38:32those fingers feel good.
38:33He's hanging in there with a two
38:35two count.
38:39Did it again.
38:41What a trip to the plate.
38:50It has been a lot of the hard
38:53stuff he showed him the cutter
38:54sweeper early and then just
38:56running fastballs in at the top
39:04ninth pitch and another full
39:12count.
39:14Ciccone had not allowed a stolen
39:15base this year.
39:16The series allowed three in the
39:17first two innings today.
39:25And pitch thirty one of the
39:27inning.
39:28Is coming up.
39:43What a trip to the plate for her
39:45rare man here that walk back to
39:50back passes three in total and the
39:52Cardinals haven't loaded.
39:54Well that's going to bring out
39:55Guardians pitching coach the
39:57longtime veteran Carl Willis to
39:58talk it over with Slate Ciccone.
40:00But that is phenomenal.
40:02And this is a big key also in this
40:04ballgame chip look forty six pitches
40:06right now for Ciccone the bullpen
40:08that of the Guardians been worked
40:09hard over the last couple of
40:10days.
40:11Some of their big boppers on the
40:12back end likely unavailable in
40:14this one.
40:14They're in the midst of thirteen
40:15games in thirteen days.
40:17So you want to get the big hit
40:19here with two outs.
40:20But just running this pitch count
40:21up very important.
40:22So after back to back walks we'll
40:24see if Burleson is patient with
40:26the first pitch we'll find out
40:27after a quick word from Jack in
40:29the box.
40:30Get my new Smash Jack Sliders
40:32Munchie Meal for a chase to win
40:33seventy five thousand bucks.
40:35Welcome to Jack in the box.
40:39Burleson a first inning single
40:41here's who he hopes he can bring
40:43home.
40:43The speedy Pedro Pajas, J.J.
40:47Weatherholtz and Ivan Herrera.
40:56You know that Ciccone wants to get
40:59ahead in the count but he's walked
41:00the last two hitters.
41:02Again the old pitcher batter
41:04cat and mouse game and he did
41:10throw a strike with movement.
41:14Well this is a guy in Alec
41:16Burleson the spot you know he's
41:17going to make you earn it.
41:18One of the toughest guys in the
41:19league to strike out his bat
41:21to ball skills are crazy.
41:23Went up and got a fastball on
41:24his first at bat.
41:29You're right just six strikeouts
41:31for Burleson this season and
41:36he's got some work to do and oh
41:38two count.
41:49And sure enough Burley can't
41:51connect and after the meeting on
41:52the mound Ciccone he gets out of
41:54a bases loaded mess.
41:55He does however give up a one
41:57run lead.
41:58The inning strikes with a bunch
41:59single pie has brings home
42:01church and after two retired
42:04Cardinals gear.
42:05Jim Hayes Brad Thompson ship
42:07carry from St. Louis were tied
42:09at one after two.
42:11Brian Rokeo a new set of strikes
42:13after Schneyman was thrown out
42:15trying to steal in the Guardian
42:17second inning a quick one from
42:21May here would be really nice.
42:23Go ahead and put that pressure
42:24right back on Ciccone.
42:26It worked really hard that in
42:28and Cardinals couldn't get that
42:29back breaking hit but still ran
42:31that pitch count up on him did
42:32not end up.
42:56There's that movement that Michael
42:58McGreevy and Jim Hayes were
42:59talking about a sinker and that
43:01thing darted to the right for
43:03the pitcher's perspective.
43:05Pretty hard to pull the trigger
43:06on that thing's front door starts
43:09in off the plate.
43:10You think it's going to keep
43:10going that way especially when
43:12he's already shown you a cutter
43:13that does.
43:19a bad way to work off of it also
43:21trying to get that swing and
43:22miss back foot little pop toward
43:39third let it spin let it spin
43:40but it hits the bag.
43:42Oh man.
43:47Baseball is a cruel game isn't it.
43:49This is a well placed fastball at
43:52ninety eight it's on the hands
43:53it beats him for sure and just a
43:55spinner.
43:57That would have gone foul had had
44:00another foot.
44:06So a tough break for May.
44:10Plunge your batter a two strike
44:12double in the first inning.
44:25one out of Oregon State he had a
44:36loaded college team as that one
44:39pulled foul pass first Adley
44:43Rutschman Nick Madrigal Trevor
44:45Lana Drew Rasmussen on the same
44:48TV.
44:50Steven Kwan.
44:54It's a pretty good recruiting
44:56over there a ball and a strike.
45:09Rogio dancing at first.
45:12And.
45:13Draws a high throw.
45:34out straight back one.
45:36on.
45:36no one.
