00:13UM said the competition's rules outline that each performance must be free of negative elements, provocation or content that can
00:20affect religious, moral, ethical and cultural values, as well as the university's good name.
00:26The university said Chex found that the controversial scene was not in the original script that was vetted beforehand and
00:33that this was a breach of the competition rules.
00:37In a statement, UM apologized for the oversight and the concerns it caused, adding that the play has been disqualified
00:44and further steps are being taken to strengthen monitoring and prevent a recurrence.
00:49A viral video of the scene had briefly featured a couple on a bed which netizens said was too suggestive.
