00:00first question when you i know it's all make-believe but when you first saw the mummy
00:04in real life what did you think um i first of all i was thrilled with the movie i was
00:11really
00:11happy with the way it turned out i was surprised at how scared i was watching the movie given that
00:18i had made the movie um and my wife who is a very seasoned horror movie fan was also like
00:26watching
00:27the movie like this through her fingers right you did that too great and so that's that's all we can
00:33really ask for with a horror movie like this you know i think i think this is a movie that
00:38like
00:38deserves to be seen with an audience in theaters i'm i haven't seen it with an audience yet tonight's
00:43going to be my first time to see it with a full audience and but i'm really excited to see
00:47how
00:47people respond in the theater all together a lot of suspense in the theater i can tell you i hope
00:54so
00:54but that's that's very good you know and um you know i i think you're a little bit younger than
01:00me but i mean growing up the mummy for me was brendan fraser and uh and rachel wise you know
01:06yeah
01:06how much of a take-off are we our audiences in for well i'll the first thing i'll say is
01:14the first
01:14movie that really scared the piss out of me when i was a kid was brendan fraser's first mummy movie
01:20that i was seven years of age and i didn't sleep for days um but i think that so for
01:26me it's a big
01:27kick to be involved in the legacy of mummy films um as i kind of grew up and got older
01:34i watched all
01:36the all the mummy films like you know from the boris carloff stuff through the christopher lee and
01:41peter cushing hammer horror movies which are so brilliant um so it's such an honor to be part of
01:48the legacy of the mummy as a as a story um i think that you know particularly with those brendan
01:57fraser movies you know they're very like indiana jones adventure film adjacent this is a horror movie
02:04this has more in this is more in common with the ring or the grudge than it has with those
02:11brendan
02:11fraser movies probably yeah definitely when you saw that mummy for the first time in real life on set
02:19like you're an actor of course but when she came on set everyone was horrified everyone was absolutely
02:26horrified because we had seen concepts you know like just a couple of images but never any of the
02:35practical tests and lee and arian decided we'll just save it and we'll get the whole crew together
02:42on the set and then we'll wheel her out in the wheelchair on the first day that she works in
02:47it
02:48so she came out and everybody was just like oh and like there was like a muted applause but everybody
02:54like i think the pit of their stomach fell out um but it was so cool and you know i
03:00have to give a lot
03:01of credit to arian and and i mean a huge amount of credit to natalie because they did seven hours
03:08getting into that makeup every morning every morning for the whole show and it was two or three hours
03:14even to get out of it so you know you're getting close to 10 hours a day just for prosthetics
03:20before
03:20you've even stepped onto the set and for her to be able to conserve her energy to manifest the sort
03:28of
03:28performance that she did was incredible you know particularly you know for a young actor who
03:34hasn't had that kind of experience with prosthetics before she did an absolutely blinding job she's
03:39really a phenomenal performer
