00:00Julia, I'll start off with you.
00:01Zach is known for subverting expectations.
00:05I'm assuming you might have seen Barbarian as well.
00:08How many of those, wait, what just happened?
00:12Moments that you have while reading the script?
00:15Pretty much the whole time.
00:17The whole script.
00:18And I love that.
00:21I love the feeling of hoping that a script is going to go a certain way.
00:31And then I get pleasantly surprised that it's even better than what I was hoping for.
00:38And it was like that every page.
00:40So it was, it just, yeah, it was so much fun to read it.
00:45Yeah, I can totally imagine.
00:47And Alden, for you, what is something about working in horror movies that audiences might not realize?
00:56Oh, that's a good question.
00:59What do they not know about horror movies?
01:02Mayonnaise.
01:02There's just a lot of people on set, you know, doing all of this stuff.
01:08I mean, if you, I think it's the level of technical specificity.
01:12It's not a very fun answer, but it's the truth.
01:14It's like, to do some of these things, you have to get the right shot.
01:19The light needs to, you know, shine off that particular knife or whatever it is in the right way.
01:26And the blood needs to fall in the right way.
01:28And I think that Zack is both, this movie, I think, was a very personal, character-driven thing for him.
01:35And also a really fun expression of all the things he loves about horror movies.
01:41And he has that level of detail to him.
01:44Yeah.
01:44Yeah, it's really, really excellent.
01:47And Julia, the horror genre often explores social anxieties through metaphor.
01:55What do you think, without spoiling anything, does weapons tap into?
02:03What kind of fear does it tap into?
02:05The fear of the unknown and the lack of control, in a way.
02:17And I think, you know, Alden was saying, a lot of it also has to do with, like, addiction, the movie.
02:24Just everybody's having their own kind of addiction throughout the movie in their own way.
02:30And, you know, addiction, it's like, centers around, a lot of it's like, control, things with control.
02:37And, yeah, that's, and then there's, it comes shame, and then the fear of the unknown.
02:43And, you know, all of it's kind of connected, in a way.
02:47So I think that's really what it is.
02:49I can imagine it's hard to answer without spoilering.
02:51So, thank you so much.
02:52No, we've been saying, yeah, it's a mayonnaise movie.
02:55No, I'm kidding.
