00:00Bonjour!
00:02They've dreamed of leaving it all behind.
00:05Look at this view, Brett.
00:06I can't believe we're here.
00:08Yay!
00:09Stunning.
00:10Now the chance to make it real begins.
00:13Welcome to the first baby breakfast.
00:15We've got a guest arriving early.
00:17Lovely.
00:18Across three weeks, six couples will fight for the prize of a lifetime.
00:23Walking away with the keys to this extraordinary B&B in the heart of the French countryside.
00:32But only one couple will take them.
00:36Who wins this stunning prize lies in the hands of four expert judges from the world of hospitality.
00:44Evergena, who's inspected hundreds of hotels for the prestigious AA.
00:50The competition has been so tough this week.
00:53Nicola Cross.
00:55Oh!
00:56Snogging swans!
00:57Elite inspector for the exclusive B&B guide Sore Days.
01:02Slightly chaotic, as they say up north.
01:06And award-winning B&B owners Andrew John and Brennan Street.
01:10Nobody's perfect.
01:12Yeah.
01:13Well, nobody's perfect.
01:15Whoa!
01:18What's happening?
01:19Hurry up.
01:20Come on.
01:21Look at this.
01:22Stop asking me questions.
01:23I've buzzed it all up again.
01:24Well, you haven't buzzed anything.
01:25I'm flagging.
01:26Oh, God.
01:27Do they have a problem?
01:33Not sure if I was for them.
01:36Previously...
01:37Dinner party!
01:38Woo!
01:39What could possibly go wrong?
01:41As the B&Bs reach capacity...
01:43I still can't work that toaster.
01:45Are they maybe doing too much?
01:47I felt ignored, to be honest.
01:49Serving a three-course meal...
01:51Woo!
01:52I didn't get the white wine.
01:53Tips the kitchen...
01:55Fighting talk.
01:56Ah.
01:57...into a battleground.
01:58Stop and calm down.
02:00See if you don't laugh.
02:01Or do you wanna cry?
02:02I don't know.
02:03I'm a different guy.
02:04It's driving me a bit nuts.
02:05It's day four of the second heat week.
02:21And with three days of hosting in the Dordogne complete,
02:24the couples are learning that life as a B&B owner is harder than they thought.
02:29Guy's been to the bakery this morning.
02:32I've set up a table, ironed all the linen for the table because I had to wash it overnight.
02:38So, yeah, it's been doodle-go again.
02:41I guess I didn't think it would be quite as...
02:44Challenging.
02:45Hectic.
02:46Full-on challenging as it has been.
02:48I would definitely use it on dress, I think, and have nicely pressed sheets that turned up
02:52that I could just pop on the bed and save myself hours of washing and ironing.
02:58Guests seem to be just enjoying the sun out there at the minute.
03:03A lot goes into hospitality.
03:05We are complete amateurs and we're learning.
03:08I've realised that everyone comes to a B&B for different reasons.
03:14But we cannot physically meet everyone's needs.
03:17You know, we'll try our best to.
03:19We really will try our best to.
03:21But sometimes it's impossible.
03:26Management of a B&B is 24-7.
03:28That's quite challenging.
03:30That is tough.
03:31I thought you were able to be a bit more like switch off when you want to switch off.
03:38Hi.
03:39Can I have a coffee for Jim, please?
03:41Yeah.
03:42Same.
03:43Same.
03:44Black, no sugar.
03:45Great.
03:47You also have to think about not having burnout.
03:50No one can be superman.
03:52Last night, Justin and Paul's buffet dinner failed to impress.
04:13But that hasn't deterred them from offering a continental, self-service breakfast.
04:18Pan of chocolate.
04:20Pan of steak.
04:24Pan of steak.
04:25Brio.
04:26Hamon.
04:28Cheese, cheese, cheese.
04:30Don't make it go.
04:32Whip.
04:33Whip.
04:34Whip.
04:35Whip.
04:36With breakfast scheduled for 9am, today the hosts will need to cater for the most guests
04:41they've had all week.
04:45Everyone is different when it comes to the breakfast thing, because sometimes, you know,
04:48you have to put more out, but sometimes you might find that less is taken, which means
04:53that we've all got bigger breakfast.
04:54How are you feeling about today, darling?
04:55Yeah, pretty confident about today.
04:56It's got to be slightly easier than what we did yesterday, so I'm sure whatever comes
05:09our way today, we'll be able to handle.
05:11Yeah!
05:12Fighting talk guy.
05:16Criticised for serving cheese and ham from a packet, Joe and Guy have made some changes
05:21to their breakfast offering.
05:24We've taken on board the advice from the judges for the past couple of days.
05:28We've ditched the meats, although that said, I have bought some saucisson, and we're going
05:33to have a plate of more traditional French cheeses.
05:36They've also switched from frozen pastries to ones fresh from a boulangerie.
05:42We have a selection of croissants, pain au chocolat.
05:45Have you gone French?
05:46Oui.
05:48Pane raisin.
05:49And what are these called, Guy?
05:52Tradishoc.
05:53Tradishoc.
05:55And it doesn't stop there, with eggs cooked to order also on the menu.
05:59We got our pre-orders in last night.
06:01There's one scrambled, two poached, and four avo with poached.
06:06So, six poached eggs and scrambled eggs today.
06:14How do you feel about today?
06:17I'm a bit more confident.
06:19At Nicole and Brett's, their organised menu-based breakfast received high praise from the judges.
06:26Amongst today's options are French toast and an Irish fry-up.
06:32It's dawning on me that actually we have a real good chance of getting to the final.
06:37Just like how yesterday went and, you know, working under pressure, we didn't, we got through it.
06:43And that's, I guess, that teamwork.
06:50It's good that you got that last minute bits in, because we didn't have enough.
06:57With breakfast due in ten minutes, the judges are on their way.
07:02And today they're looking to see who's made the most progress in the competition.
07:11What I'm looking for are the ones that have really lessened and adapted their approach,
07:16that have learned from their mistake and that have shown us they want to do better and to move forward.
07:22Are we ready for breakfast?
07:26Yes.
07:27OK, our table's all ready and set, so sit wherever you want and then feel free to help yourself at the buffet.
07:34This is the most people they've actually had for breakfast.
07:38The skill set here is going to be how they adapt what they do to suit everyone's tastes.
07:45Is it just the standard fodder or are they willing to bend a little bit to make people happy?
07:49Let's see.
07:51Good morning.
07:53Breakfast is served, thank you very much.
07:58How is everyone this morning?
08:00Great.
08:01Good, glad to hear it.
08:02If you'd all like to sit down, breakfast will be served in a minute.
08:06If you decide to do an immensely complicated cooked breakfast, then you might just be giving yourself too much work.
08:14For two people it's probably easy, but when you're trying to do it when you've got a full house, that's when things are going to get tricky for you.
08:26Operation Yogurt Dessert always takes that little bit longer because it's quite fiddly prep.
08:32I forgot this yesterday.
08:34Wait a minute.
08:40Can you get me a bowl, please?
08:42Yes, please.
08:43Yes, please.
08:55Oh, he didn't. He's on the chair.
08:56Morning, everybody.
09:07Good night.
09:09Look at this.
09:10Petals.
09:12How's it going this morning?
09:13I got up super early because I was thinking about getting the batter out of the fridge.
09:17How are you feeling?
09:18I've been to the bakery.
09:19We've got the patisseries.
09:21They're all fresh today.
09:23Good.
09:24We've got the artisanal cheeses.
09:26Ready when you want them.
09:27Okay, perfect.
09:28I'm really looking forward to that.
09:33Voila.
09:39Nice touch with the ice on the yogurt.
09:41Look at that.
09:42The hosts all manage to seat their guests on time and breakfast can begin.
09:50Really salty butter.
09:51It's a sort of Breton crystal salt butter and just some salty butter, but I've forgotten.
09:56I think that's the really salty one.
10:04Everybody's eating outside wonderfully.
10:07So, what do you think of the selection?
10:09Really nice.
10:10Yeah, I like it.
10:11Yeah, these yogas are lovely.
10:12Would any of you have asked for a cooked egg or something like that?
10:17Yeah.
10:18Would you want to ask for one?
10:19Yeah, I would ask for a cooked egg.
10:22I've not heard that you can't ask, so maybe ask.
10:26If you want to top off with any hot water in case this coffee is too strong.
10:31Thank you very much.
10:32Is everything else okay?
10:34All good.
10:35Yeah, all good?
10:36Can you make some eggs?
10:38Omelette.
10:39Yeah, an egg omelette.
10:40We only, because it's the buffet style, we only offer the hard boiled eggs.
10:44Okay.
10:46The competition to win the prize of a lifetime is getting serious.
10:56Oh, Nicola, just in time.
10:57Good morning, Brett.
10:58Good morning.
10:59Oh, I've just popped this here.
11:03There's a little bit more space.
11:04I've got a clean sound.
11:05But while breakfast for two of the hosts is in full swing,
11:12Justin and Paul are dealing with an unexpected guest request.
11:13Manish just said, oh, is it possible you can make me a nominate?
11:15And I said, oh, unfortunately, we only offer a buffet style, which is hard boiled eggs.
11:17I was just thinking, I was hoping that he will say yes to the egg that he was asking for.
11:18Yeah, makes sense.
11:19I mean, yeah.
11:20Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
11:22But while breakfast for two of the hosts is in full swing, Justin and Paul are dealing with an unexpected guest request.
11:30So Manish just said, oh, is it possible you can make me a nominate?
11:34And I said, oh, unfortunately, we only offer a buffet style, which is hard boiled eggs.
11:40I was just thinking, I was hoping that he will say yes to the egg that he was asking for.
11:45Makes sense.
11:46Yeah, no, no, it's completely okay.
11:48You know, it's their thing, but you know, I'm just thinking out loud here.
11:53Because we have to perfect our eggs.
11:56How do you all feel about the choices so far?
12:00I guess, you know, this is how everybody eats here.
12:03You know, it's preferences person to person, but I would prefer something fresh as well.
12:09Anything else that is above and beyond at this stage, we have to say, no, this is what it is.
12:15Because of our timing schedule, because anything like that can throw it all out of sync.
12:20Breakfast could go on to 11.
12:22It's not that we don't want to.
12:23It opens up a can of worms because then someone else might want sunny side up.
12:27Oh, do you have any bacon in your fridge as well?
12:30So you've got to stick to, you know, some boundaries.
12:34To me, this looks like anywhere we go to a hotel where we have the buffet system of breakfast.
12:43This don't feel boutique to me.
12:45This don't feel B&B to me.
12:47You know, I would prefer something which is a little more personalized.
12:53This is Nicola's first experience of Nicole and Brett's menu-based breakfast, which includes French toast.
13:11What's it like?
13:12Good.
13:13Amazing.
13:14It's one of the best I've ever eaten.
13:22It's actually very good cream, doesn't it?
13:23Yeah.
13:24It's so good.
13:25Yeah, it's delicious.
13:26That is heaven.
13:27Yeah.
13:31In addition to their chosen breakfast, a variety of pastries have also been laid out.
13:38Andrew, I've got a real worry here this morning.
13:41I'm peering under this very pretty food cover.
13:44Can't see a pan au raisin.
13:46What?
13:47Yeah.
13:48Oh, no!
13:49Which would mean this is day two.
13:51Day two without your raisin d'être.
13:55I couldn't find one yesterday.
13:59Nicola is also sampling the full Irish breakfast with homemade soda files.
14:05Can I change my order?
14:06Enjoy.
14:07And Nicola, tell me about your bowls.
14:08I'm really impressed that you managed to get all the ingredients for it.
14:12Oh, I actually struggled getting some buttermilk in the supermarkets here.
14:16Yeah.
14:17A lady helped me and she said if you use some lemon juice, she'd give me the recipe.
14:22And the islander come home and batch cook some lovely.
14:25And it works beautifully.
14:26It worked perfect.
14:27Well, I haven't tasted it yet.
14:28It worked perfect.
14:29Oh, fingers crossed it goes down well.
14:32It was very good.
14:33Thumbs up.
14:35Crunch regrets.
14:36Yeah.
14:38I don't know why you're not opening a restaurant.
14:39Never mind a B&B.
14:40She cooked me a lot of love.
14:41For Joe and Guy, feedback Alia in the week encouraged them to include more local options.
14:55Coffee there and there's tea at the other end if you like.
14:58Get your milk.
14:59Oh, thank you.
15:00What do you think of the spread?
15:02Excellent.
15:03Very good.
15:04Very good.
15:05Looking good.
15:06Boil for choice.
15:07Boil for choice, yeah.
15:08Oh, my word.
15:09Oh, thanks.
15:10No, gosh.
15:14One crack.
15:15Ready for the eggs.
15:16Oh, yeah.
15:17Right, guys, so I'm doing avocado on these.
15:20There's four avos and two non-avo.
15:22Look at that.
15:27That's probably the best one of the day, this one.
15:32Sorry, Peter, for the delay.
15:33It was a bit of an egg breakage.
15:35I couldn't possibly serve it.
15:36So I've done you another one and I think that's possibly the best one I've done today.
15:49Phew!
15:50How do you think that was?
15:51High five!
15:52With breakfast finished, it's time for the guests to pack up, leave their feedback...
16:01Definitely say it's more casual experience than formal.
16:05..and head to the next B&B.
16:07Are you off now?
16:08Yes.
16:09Oh, it was lovely to meet you.
16:10Yes.
16:11Have a good journey.
16:12Bye-bye.
16:13Bye.
16:14We wouldn't come back to Justin's and Paul.
16:17I didn't feel it.
16:18I felt like in a hotel where there was no connection with the guest.
16:22We prompted a guest today to ask for what they wanted.
16:25And when that guest did, Justin was very abrupt in his response.
16:31At the end of the day, you are selling a guest service.
16:34Absolutely.
16:35It's fantastic to have your own USP, the special way in which you do something.
16:39But if you don't make your guests happy, they're not going to come back.
16:42No.
16:43Hello.
16:45Mwah.
16:46Have a lovely journey.
16:47Yeah.
16:48Enjoy yourselves.
16:49Pleasure to meet you both.
16:50And you.
16:51And we wish you the best of luck.
16:53Really impressed with Joe and Guy's breakfast this morning.
16:56I think it's really a big step up from what they did on the first day.
16:59There's a lot of potential with Joe and Guy here.
17:01I think one of their downfall from what I've seen yesterday is that stress management and
17:06time management as well.
17:07For instance, they've just been in the kitchen and had a peek in the living room and the iron
17:11board has been installed again when guests are just about to check out.
17:15So I think there's a few things that could be reviewed in that sense.
17:18No time for sitting down.
17:20Come on, chop chop.
17:21Things to do.
17:22It's been really a lovely stay.
17:23I'd certainly come back.
17:24Yeah.
17:25Thank you so much.
17:26Thank you so much.
17:27Where's my hug?
17:28Hi.
17:29Nicole and Brett just created the most wonderful atmosphere.
17:39Amazing food.
17:40How they manage to achieve what they achieve without helpers is astounding.
17:45Today we want to really nail everything.
17:47Game on.
17:48We're ready to win.
17:50Check out complete.
17:52And as the hosts begin the changeover, there's a familiar sound at the door.
17:56Someone at the door.
17:57Look who it is.
17:58Oh, it's daunting today.
17:59You don't know what to expect.
18:00Tonight you have two rooms booked.
18:01You must also host an event in the garden or house for up to six people.
18:17The event must include some kind of food or drinks and an activity.
18:22Have a day.
18:23Both should reflect your unique selling point and be something you could do to bring in
18:29extra revenue for a B&B.
18:31The event needs to run from 4.30 to 6.
18:34Right.
18:35We need to put our thinking heads on.
18:36Okay.
18:37Diddy.
18:38What are you thinking?
18:39The bed and breakfast trade is seasonal largely, particularly in more rural areas.
18:43So if you handle really good events, if you put on something different.
18:48Exactly.
18:49It's a great stream of income as well.
18:50And it'll keep you going the whole year.
18:52Mm-hmm.
18:53And bring more clients to you.
18:55Absolutely.
18:56Word of mouth travels.
18:57Especially if they enjoy the event.
18:59I like playing petonk.
19:00Ah!
19:01And there's a set by the barbecue.
19:03There's a set by the barbecue.
19:04Good thinking, Batman.
19:05And then what should we do?
19:06Food.
19:07We've got quite a lot of leftover stuff.
19:09Let's do a pizza making competition.
19:12Ah, yeah.
19:13That's a good idea.
19:14The hosts need to play to their strengths.
19:15They need to create an event that is going to be interesting, but also is something that
19:22can show what they are good at.
19:25Well, you want to do something homely, because that's what we're about.
19:28Yeah, so you want to do something food related.
19:31And you mentioned about doing like a cookery class.
19:33What about doing potato bread?
19:35Yeah.
19:36And soda bread pies?
19:37So we're going to do sip and paint.
19:39And sip and drop.
19:40Sip and drop.
19:41Yeah.
19:42And everybody's piece of work goes up on the guest gallery wall.
19:45The challenge to organise an event.
19:48They will have to do that on top of their usual chores.
19:51It's a real opportunity for them to show us how far they've came and how well they can
19:56deal with the stress and the unpredictable.
19:58With two rooms to prepare as well as an event to plan, all three couples are now against
20:04the clock.
20:05Can you hold that?
20:06So then at least we've got this covered.
20:08Yeah.
20:09Because I've just put on the other wash for Julian's room.
20:12Yeah.
20:13Whether they work as a team or choose to divide and conquer is up to them.
20:18Oh, and I'm keen to get these rooms done.
20:20OK.
20:21You go get the bits.
20:22All right.
20:23And then come back and we just, then as soon as you come back hopefully we can just
20:26set up then.
20:27I'm going to go to Dom and maybe find some local produce for a tasting station.
20:31Mm-hmm.
20:32Would you be able to crack on?
20:34Yeah.
20:35But however the hosts tackle this challenge, time isn't on their side.
20:44Plates.
20:45As the judges will arrive in just one hour.
20:51I've come to the local town to get a bit of local produce for a tasting station but honestly
20:56I need a gold place.
20:57I'm sweating.
20:58Trapper.
20:59Oh God.
21:00In the Dordogne the arrival of a new challenge to host an event for their incoming guests has
21:25sent the hosts in a spin.
21:27I thought you were doing the hanging and I was doing the passing.
21:30Oh.
21:31Well could you go get me some more pigs?
21:33Tell me I'm hanging it up wrong.
21:34All right.
21:35Go get me some more pigs.
21:37Oh they're there.
21:38I never thought I'd be a French maid but I feel like one today.
21:49It's just the time constraints of getting the rooms turned around.
21:53It's the washing.
21:55For their event Joe and Guy are going to entertain their guests with pizza making and the traditional
22:06French game of petanque.
22:08Today's challenge I think we're feeling pretty confident.
22:12We will wow them with our pizza making skills and our petanque skills and we're going to leave
22:18them with no other choice than to put us through.
22:20Yes.
22:21So the stones in this area are quite large, probably larger than you'd normally have on
22:26a petanque court so the ball's going to move around a little bit but it's a level playing
22:32field for everyone so...
22:34Oh.
22:35That's a good one.
22:37Petanque isn't the only part of the event bringing out Guy's competitive side.
22:42Everything's a competition so I'll be trying to prove that my dough rises more than Joe's.
22:47The dough's gone a bit mental so it's sort of sticking to this cling film when obviously
22:53I don't want it to before we have a disaster.
22:59What we'll do is just lower this up slightly, hold it around a bit and that should remedy the situation.
23:14Justin and Paul have opted for an art based event where guests can sit and paint.
23:20We have our canvases.
23:23We have all the tools to create your artwork.
23:28Crayons, pencils, pens, brushes.
23:31It's nibbles and drinks.
23:33So we've used the location over there for our dinner party.
23:41I was thinking this is such an amazing view.
23:46So then we do it here and the six people are going to be facing this.
23:50One, two, three, four, six.
23:52Three, four, six.
23:54Missed out five.
23:58Complimented about her food throughout the week,
24:01Nicole and Brett are putting on a cookery class.
24:07But while Nicole shops for ingredients,
24:09it's on Brett to get the rooms ready for the incoming guests.
24:14I think it's going to run pretty smoothly.
24:17We've got some good ideas.
24:19It's kind of nice just getting on with your own sort of jobs in the house.
24:25But with the judges due in just 20 minutes,
24:28Nicole is still out shopping.
24:31I think of enough.
24:32I need to go.
24:36Perfect.
24:43I need to go.
24:44I need to go.
24:45Hello, bonjour.
24:46Good afternoon, bonjour.
24:47Today, the judges return to the houses they saw at the start of the week.
25:03Nice to see you again.
25:04I'm Bette's way.
25:05Yeah?
25:06I've been cleaning.
25:07Oh, I can't say.
25:08How are you doing?
25:09How's everything here?
25:10Everything's going well.
25:11Nicole's just out at a minute getting the last bits for our event that we're doing.
25:14So she'll come back and then set up.
25:16I'm just finishing off cleaning.
25:18So you're on schedule?
25:19Yeah, we're on schedule pretty much, yeah.
25:21And you've got pencils.
25:25Pencils, watercolours, pastels.
25:28Wow.
25:29It's a nice, restful thing to do.
25:31Yeah.
25:32I'm just slightly worried about the heat.
25:36So I've just been prepping dough for our petanque and pizza night that we're doing.
25:40So the idea is that we're going to play some petanque out here.
25:45Excellent.
25:46To the guests involved.
25:47I've never played.
25:48Have you not?
25:49Oh, great.
25:50And I think we've got five, so I'll join in to make six.
25:53Excellent.
25:54I really love the idea of entertainment with interaction.
25:57Make your own food.
26:02So what made you decide to do this?
26:04What was the inspiration behind it?
26:06I thought it would be a really nice way to get people to talk about themselves in an uninhibited way.
26:15You know what?
26:16I'm going to crack on because we have guests possibly appearing any minute.
26:26Hi, Nicole.
26:27Hello.
26:28Oh, hello Eva.
26:29How are you?
26:30Good and you?
26:32It is roast and toasting.
26:34Gosh, you come with a handful.
26:37I went for one thing and I come back with everything.
26:42Right.
26:43You cannot greet guests like this.
26:46I've been cleaning and it was really hot up in the loft, but I've literally just come down.
26:51I've got another sort of 15 minutes to do and then I'm done.
26:53Perfect.
26:54Are you on schedule, Nicole?
26:55Running?
26:56Yeah.
26:57On schedule.
26:58Good.
26:59Four guests and then half for the challenge.
27:02The judges also want to see how the hosts juggle the event with the new check-ins.
27:11Hello there.
27:12Hi.
27:13Welcome.
27:14I'm Guy.
27:15Hi, Guy.
27:16Good to see you.
27:17Andy.
27:18This is Jen.
27:19Hello, Guy.
27:20I'm Nicole.
27:21Hello, Nicole.
27:22It's actually Daryl.
27:23Daryl?
27:24That's absolutely fine.
27:25No problem at all.
27:26Apologies.
27:27Come on in.
27:28Very hot day.
27:29Shall I get you straight to your room so you can chill, do whatever you need?
27:33We're just straight through here.
27:35So, excuse me, we've just been doing a changeover.
27:42I'll let you settle in.
27:43Yes.
27:44And then I'm literally just here with Justin, my partner, just getting everything ready,
27:49drinks, snibbles, yeah?
27:51Hello, Daz.
27:52I'm Brett.
27:53Hi.
27:54Nice to meet you.
27:55Nice to meet you.
27:56Come on in.
27:58Thank you so much.
27:59Thank you so much.
28:00What we'll do is we'll take you up to your room in a minute, just because you're very hot,
28:13a bit of sweat.
28:14You probably want to get settled in, get a shower, and then we go up.
28:18You can't say that!
28:20We're in!
28:21I've just popped a little welcome card on the side.
28:26It's got our numbers and the Wi-Fi code.
28:28OK.
28:29Oh, that's great.
28:30They've taken what we've said, a welcome, telephone number, WhatsApp, and the Wi-Fi code.
28:36They've listened.
28:37They've really listened.
28:39Judges are also marking the hosts on the cleanliness and presentation of the bedrooms.
28:44A good bedroom, especially for a singer.
28:47And there is a pretty shower.
28:51Is that just a mark on the floor?
28:53Yeah.
28:54It's done.
28:57Toilet?
28:58Oh.
28:59I'm having a toilet on this edge.
29:01I'm going.
29:02They're on the toilet.
29:03Helen and Darrell have just found that the housekeeping in the bathroom was not up to
29:09scratch.
29:10It's a real shame, because Nicole and Brett's housekeeping standards have been excellent from the very
29:15start.
29:16I just wonder if this has happened because they put a lot of pressure on themselves.
29:19It's a very unfortunate lapse, especially at this point of the competition.
29:22Hi.
29:23Hiya, Helen.
29:24Hiya, Daryl.
29:25Hiya, Brett.
29:26If you'd like to come downstairs and we're just getting ready to start the event.
29:28Yes.
29:29Can I grab your attention just one second?
29:30Yes.
29:31In the loo, we've got evidence of your previous guests.
29:34Okay.
29:35Would you like to go and have a look?
29:36I'll have a look now.
29:37Okay.
29:38I really apologise about that.
29:41When you're downstairs and you're taking part in the event, I'll have it cleaned for
29:46you.
29:47Perfect.
29:48That's perfect.
29:50Hello.
29:51Hey.
29:52How did that feel as a welcome, as an arrival?
29:55I would say he's a very warm person, but he must wait straight into the room.
30:01Maybe we wanted something else or he could have suggested different things.
30:05Would you like to sit down, have a glass of water?
30:08Yes, because you might feel as if you're sort of here and you shouldn't really come out.
30:15So, how did you find that check-in?
30:18Informative.
30:19Yeah.
30:20It explains everything.
30:21I think that was the best one, yeah.
30:27Am I doing soda and potato farts for all the guests or am I doing one soda, one potato farts?
30:36With their events scheduled to start at 4.30pm, Justin and Paul are ready to begin.
30:43And Katerine, you want to come and join us?
30:45Yeah, sure.
30:47Let's get you a drink.
30:49But others are lagging behind.
30:52Guy, did you chop up the ham?
30:55Not yet.
30:56Why not?
30:57I think maybe say, we're sorry, we're running a bit late.
31:02Yeah?
31:03Yeah.
31:04And nerves are starting to creep in.
31:06God, this is just too much pressure.
31:08My mind's going on over there.
31:09Yeah, don't, don't complicate you.
31:11Yeah.
31:12No, I'm going to mess this up, literally.
31:19With a life-changing prize up for grabs, the stakes are at an all-time high for three
31:25couples.
31:28You're not one bit nervous?
31:29No, no, I feel good once we get it flowing.
31:32Please help me, aye.
31:33I'll help you, don't worry.
31:35Competing to impress their guests and the judges.
31:39Hey, guys, we thought we'd have a little fun to get everyone introduced to each other.
31:43Oh, that's amazing!
31:44I love it.
31:45So we're going to take you back to your creative artists' selves.
31:50And pull off an event they hope will shine a light on what sets them apart.
31:55We're just about to start our event.
31:58Guys just setting up the pizza oven.
32:01We've got the baton.
32:02I'm going to get some drinks while people come downstairs.
32:05And then we're all good to go.
32:10It's really just to play and really have some fun.
32:13What we'd ideally like to do is get each of your pieces of work and we're going to create
32:18a guest gallery.
32:20Both from creative backgrounds, Justin and Paul hope to encourage guests to lean into their
32:25artistic side with a sip and paint event.
32:28Nicola?
32:30Oh, thank you very much.
32:32That's lovely.
32:34We really love art.
32:35We're not artists.
32:36And our plan is to do art weeks.
32:39We find it really relaxing.
32:41Cheers, everyone.
32:42Cheers.
32:45Cheers.
32:46Cheers.
32:47Cheers.
32:49Almost an hour later than scheduled, Joe and Guy's pizza and petonk event is finally underway.
32:56Right.
32:57We'll have Brennan, Jen, Jillian.
33:03Mm-hmm.
33:04And then we'll have Andrew, Andy and Guy.
33:09Jillian to go first.
33:10You can throw the jack.
33:14That's a great one.
33:16While Guy entertains the guests, Joe is on pizza duty.
33:20We thought we'd just make it a bit easier for everyone rather than them having to actually
33:25make their own base, like, roll out their own bases and everything.
33:28We thought we'd do it for them.
33:30Annoyingly, I hate to admit it, Guy's day is a bit better than mine.
33:35He hates losing.
33:36So, as you'll see when he is trying to thrash the guests at petonk.
33:44Oh-ho-ho-ho-ho!
33:46So, I'm holding shot.
33:47Right.
33:48You've got two balls to try and...
33:50So, which was yours holding shot?
33:51The one in the front?
33:52The one in the back.
33:53Oh!
33:54Well done!
33:55Also, an hour behind schedule, Nicole and Brett finally welcome guests to their cookery
34:06class.
34:07The lovely Daryl and Helen, yous will be cooking lovely potato farts.
34:12And then, Ruth and Daz, you will be on soda farts.
34:16So, Helen, first of all, we're going to mix the potatoes, butter and salt.
34:21OK.
34:22Yep, you have to help too, Daryl.
34:24Come on.
34:25Come on, come on.
34:26Yes, here we go.
34:27You add the lovely melted butter, Helen.
34:29Right.
34:30Go on.
34:31Oh, right.
34:32Go on.
34:33And use your spoon then.
34:34Chop that.
34:35Well done.
34:36This is looking good.
34:37With one set of guests cooking at a time, all Ruth and Daz can do is watch and wait.
34:46So, what do you think about the concept of B&B with paints?
34:50I honestly, this is a very good idea.
34:52You like it?
34:54You do yoga, you do whatever, but painting, I think, is a very good idea.
34:59Julian, is that a portrait?
35:02How lovely.
35:03Nicola, what do you think of the likeness?
35:07Um, I think he's some...
35:10He's captured your best side?
35:12I think...
35:16I think he's having a laugh.
35:18Paul?
35:19Yes?
35:20Do you think this is more than what we expected to get out of this?
35:22I mean...
35:23Wedding bells.
35:24I've got a few hats that need a few weddings to go to, so...
35:27If we win the competition, maybe we could offer you the honeymoon suite.
35:31Oh!
35:41Nice shot.
35:43Very good shot.
35:44And the winners are...
35:46Brennan's team.
35:47Well done.
35:48Well done.
35:49Well done.
35:50I've just got three more bases to make.
35:54And then we're going to get them on topping.
35:56But just as they are ready to get cooking, there's a problem with the pizza oven.
36:02I think it's tripping at the moment.
36:04Let's...
36:05Oh, sorry, everybody.
36:06Oh, what a disaster.
36:08Oh!
36:09Oh!
36:10Oh!
36:11Oh!
36:12Oh!
36:13Oh!
36:14Oh!
36:15Oh!
36:16Oh!
36:17Oh!
36:18Oh!
36:19Oh!
36:20Oh!
36:21Oh!
36:22Oh!
36:23Oh!
36:24Oh!
36:25Oh!
36:26Oh!
36:27Oh!
36:28Whoa!
36:29Oh!
36:30Oh!
36:31Oh goodness, right?
36:32It's ok?
36:33It's ok?
36:34This is really doy 150 to 180. Oh, sure
36:48Maybe a little bit more in and then we'll start needing it
37:04The crazy cakes are going for it. That's your quarter
37:09Anybody have a particular artist or a particular image that they love
37:15Shea girl. Yeah
37:17Absolutely love him. Justin and Paul's event. I wasn't sure at first, but then actually when we all sat down
37:24something rather magical happened and
37:27We all started drawing
37:34And actually Paul and Justin really came out of themselves
37:39Amazing mine is the sun rays and the haze of today. I've never seen Paul paint before only critique
37:48It was a really nice event. I really enjoyed it
37:55Yep, just spread it around
37:58Up to you what you like, okay good news
38:01Whoo, we're back in business pizza oven is back on excellent
38:12We arrived today a little bit trepid because day one for Joe and guy was not no great
38:20Oh
38:22Wow
38:24And voila there is your pizza matter, but today they pulled it out of the bag. They have knocked the ball out the park
38:33The oven cools
38:36So Joey notice the difference in the pizza doors. Oh, yeah. Yeah, the first two
38:41Were thicker yeah, and I I prepared them
38:45Oh
38:48However, I
38:51Preferred the latter two guess who made which well, I think we just stopped
38:58Quite often it's the event that trips everyone up and I think we can both say they didn't trip up to know the electric did
39:06But they didn't it the only thing is is it too late?
39:10Here we go guys
39:15Time to get some taste in it and some wine that
39:21Thank you for coming to our cookery class
39:24Let's all get stuck in Brett and Nicole have been doing so well for since the start of the week
39:29I feel like two days put a bit of a spanner in the works
39:32There was a lot of prep involved and I don't think they took that into account in terms of time management now
39:39This is your cooking guys nice
39:42There's red sauce and bacon and eggs get it on
39:45I feel like Nicole was perhaps of a thinking it's a little bit rather than going with the flow which was slightly disappointing. I think
40:00We have to go now
40:02I enjoy as day four draws to a close the hosts have done everything they can
40:19But is it enough to impress the judges after an eventful day it's time to return to judges HQ
40:28What's an afternoon? I'm more confused than ever we had a really really successful afternoon with Joe and Guy we played the dunk which was
40:43So clever in its simplicity. It was very prescribed and well
40:49executed hosting
40:51Okay, and there were a few little things that we picked up on
40:56On the entrance way into the living room the iron in board and the iron was
41:02Still there quite a long day. I must admit
41:10So ever you're at Nicole and Brett's yes, and as we know they've been really strong since the start if not the strongest and today actually
41:18I just feel a little disappointed
41:21I think it just wasn't that strong the strongest day at all
41:24I think they were a bit of our ambitious with
41:28What they decided to cook in the sense that it wasn't just one type of bread they went with two types took them a long time to get everything ready
41:35Which caused a lot of stress as well, and there was a major
41:39housekeeping issue in the bathroom
41:42It's really interesting because all through this they have been so honored
41:48That's why I was so surprised to see
41:51What happened today because it was really not on brand for them if anything
41:55It shows that they're not infallible at this stage of the competition
41:59I think for me it really showed that it's still everyone's game. There was a few issues
42:03I felt like I dealt with them as best I could you did well, I guess
42:08Because I didn't even know what was going on until he told me after so now, you know
42:13Please tell us wonderful news about Paul and Justin
42:18It was a painting event
42:20So everyone had a canvas
42:22There was this lovely lovely atmosphere
42:25We were chatting, but we were absorbed
42:27Did they paint?
42:29They did
42:31They joined us very chilled, very relaxed
42:33Very personal
42:35They haven't really demonstrated that until today
42:38Yeah, it's a very trendy
42:40It's a very trendy activity right now
42:42It's sip and paint it shows that they're following guests, you know needs and trends
42:46And actually that actually could be incredibly viable as a business
42:52I feel like
42:54The past four days has just heightened
42:56You know what we wanted
42:58Well today's been complicated, hasn't it?
43:00And it's certainly thrown some spanners in the works
43:03Yes, quite
43:04Where we thought people were going to fly
43:06They've flopped
43:07Yep
43:08Where we thought that people hadn't really reached the mark
43:11They then succeeded
43:13Tomorrow
43:14I suspect there may be a battle
43:17I hope we've done enough
43:19We've put our heart and soul into it
43:21This experience hasn't put me off in any way shape or form
43:24If anything, it's made me more eager
43:26Today was a very new experience for us
43:29I just want the guests to come through our B&B
43:32To make memories with us
43:33And to try something new
43:35Because that's what it's about
43:36Having fun and making memories together
43:38My idea was great, wasn't it?
43:40Your idea
43:43It was
43:44You're such a genius
43:45I'm with such a lucky man
43:47You are very lucky
43:49So creative
43:50Really creative
43:51Yeah
43:52With only two places remaining in the final
43:55The hosts have just one more day to make their mark
43:59Before one couple is sent home
44:02Tomorrow is judgement day
44:05Where we get to see how they bring everything together at breakfast
44:09We get to read the guest feedback
44:12And we have to make that decision
44:14I don't think it's going to be an easy one
44:17I don't think I'm going to sleep well tonight
44:21Next time
44:22It's a disaster
44:24Absolute disaster
44:25It's the last breakfast of the heats
44:27Oh, they're a little bit overdone, I think
44:29That's right, that's right
44:30We'll hurry up
44:31Next one
44:32Revelations unfold
44:34Suggest you try to remember guest names and use them
44:38And the last two couples go through to the finals
44:41What will be?
44:42What will be?
44:43Yes, every minute feels like half an hour
44:46The judges have reached their final decision
44:49Amdek
44:56The results
44:58Eight
45:01People
45:02who
