00:01I feel the size of that!
00:03Melons mate, melons!
00:07Previously...
00:08This keeps up. You have half done for the day.
00:11The winter lobster hunting season...
00:13Look at that.
00:14...is well underway.
00:16Messy!
00:17Really?
00:18...for hardcore Aussie lobster men are risking it all
00:22in pursuit of the world's most prized seafood delicacy.
00:26Ow, ow, ow. They're very strong and very sparky.
00:30Keep an eye open for pots.
00:32At the moment we've lost these ten pots.
00:34We need them back.
00:35I'm just out to the max mate.
00:37Give me a break for sake.
00:40Who will become the new king of the Southern Ocean?
00:44Clap at the dog. Clap at the dog.
00:47If we can have another day like we did today,
00:50we're going to be pretty hard to beat.
00:52Piss off!
01:07Port Davie on Tasmania's remote west coast.
01:12One day remains of the season.
01:14And Skipper Jack is desperate for one final crack
01:18at bringing in some big lobsters.
01:21So we got 91 yesterday morning.
01:23I've got my hopes a bit higher for this morning's.
01:26I want to get at least 100,
01:28but, you know, 120, 130 would be spot on.
01:31What's your feelings, Jackie boy?
01:32You don't want to say?
01:33I'm just always emotional, Johnny.
01:36I'm emotional.
01:37You need a cuddle, bruv.
01:38I gave you a cuddle last night.
01:39I know.
01:40It wasn't long enough.
01:42Come on, snappies.
01:43Come on.
01:44Come on.
01:46Come on, snappies.
01:48Come on.
01:49I've got six out of the first one,
01:50and the second pot's sort of got a few fish in it too.
01:54If we can continue this moment, I'm sure we'll be pretty happy.
01:57I'm thinking we're going to have a good day.
01:59A good day today.
02:01We have good days every day,
02:03but our catch, I've got a bit of a feeling.
02:07I've got a little feeling in my tummy.
02:12Hopefully we'll just get some dogs.
02:15Ho, ho, ho.
02:16Ho, ho, ho.
02:18The Friars on the south-east coast of Tasmania,
02:21and Team Chieftain is also hunting for 1.5 kilo-plus lobsters.
02:27I said it's been fun, but I'm ready to go home.
02:31With it being the end of the trip,
02:33everyone's at that exhaustion point.
02:35Wake up, Jocky.
02:37Jocky, wake up.
02:39I'm going to sit right here and watch.
02:45Dead.
02:50Female.
02:52Okay.
02:55Every day of your fishing trip,
02:57there's a lot of pressure every single day
02:59because you have to maintain the fish coming in.
03:01You want to try and catch the most you can.
03:04Today I really want to see 200 fish at minimum.
03:07We need to get that so we can get to 1.5 tonne,
03:10ready for our unload tomorrow.
03:12Towards the end of the trip,
03:13you know, if you don't have enough fish on,
03:15yeah, you've got a lot of pressure on.
03:20The hose end has to be at the mast at the top.
03:22Exhaustion and pressure to perform...
03:24I thought you meant this bit.
03:26...is taking a toll on the crew.
03:28No, I didn't say the mast, I said the bin.
03:30Locky and Bryce are getting on each other's nerves.
03:33It's been more of a wanker.
03:36Stop being a head.
03:37If you're going to be a head, go to bed.
03:39It's a head.
03:40Stop it.
03:41No, I don't know what you're talking about.
03:42It's not hard.
03:44When you're working in shore,
03:45you know, everyone's got a job to do
03:47and we have to make sure everyone's doing it.
03:48Bang on, you know.
03:50The last place you want to get a rope around your prop or anything
03:52or run gear over or hit a rock is in shore.
03:56When I rock up to another pot,
03:58we're straight into it.
03:59It needs to be in the hauler
04:00and we just need to be moving.
04:03Come here now.
04:04Stay here now and listen to me.
04:06I'm going to say this once and once only.
04:07Stop being a f***ing idiot.
04:09Leave it at that.
04:09If you can't, go inside and stay inside.
04:20One, brother.
04:22One's better than none.
04:24Not as good as two.
04:26For the Boran, the lobsters have slowed down.
04:30A few fished these first pots,
04:32but they're not quite big enough for what we wanted.
04:35I'd ideally like to get a bit more weight on board,
04:37but we just have to grin and bear with it.
04:53I'm in around the rocks trying to pull my gear in the dark, you know,
04:56and Bryce is just hammering my phone.
04:59I'm not too sure why.
05:01Could be that the other boys aren't talking to him.
05:03I did hear a little rumour about that,
05:05but he seems to be a bit stressed out about something.
05:10Hey, mate, what's going on?
05:11I'm just ducking in a bit tight around the rocks.
05:13How are you?
05:14That's all good.
05:15What's happening?
05:16Well, not much.
05:17We've just been in shore ourselves,
05:18catching some big red dogs.
05:22Oh.
05:22No.
05:22No, there's only Miles and I at the Friars, and that's it.
05:27Oh, Miles at the Friars.
05:28Yeah.
05:29You been chatting to him?
05:30No, he won't talk to me, so...
05:32Oh, you haven't went and shot too close to him too, have you?
05:35No, I was miles away from him.
05:37Miles.
05:37Miles away from Miles.
05:39I like the pun, mate.
05:40That's a good pun, isn't it?
05:42Yeah.
05:42I get along pretty well with Miles, you know?
05:45Yeah.
05:45Like, it takes a lot to piss him off, usually.
05:48And if Bryce has upset Miles,
05:50he's obviously tread on his toes a bit too much, I reckon.
05:54You know how Bryce has been talking about?
05:55Everyone's been ignoring him.
05:57Yeah.
05:58There's people in the world,
05:59and they just think they're the king, you know what I mean?
06:01Look, I'm not surprised that Bryce has upset everyone.
06:04He's definitely an antagonist.
06:06He's like the Jake Paul of boxing.
06:08It's sort of...that's the Bryce way of fishing.
06:11I don't know if he just likes to see how far he can push sometimes,
06:14or if he's just seriously that cocky.
06:22Hey, Tim.
06:24You know where the pot comes up under the fair lead?
06:26He's always trying to get the hands dear to that.
06:30Miles is hunting 12 miles south of the Friars.
06:34He's on a mission to repeat yesterday's monster shot.
06:40The one that rocketed Team Pyrrha to the top of the tally board.
06:44F***ing hell.
06:45We're not catching much.
06:47You got one fish out of all then?
06:49Yeah, yeah, yeah.
06:51F***ing mate.
06:53We had a really good day yesterday,
06:54and this morning we're just...
06:57we're not doing really well at all.
07:01It's just what happens sometimes, you know.
07:03The fish will be there one day and the next day they'll be gone.
07:06So, yeah, it's a bit disappointing, you know.
07:11Come on, put some cotton liners on me.
07:13My fingers are f***ing frozen.
07:15Team morale is also an issue.
07:18Oh, I can't wait for this s*** to be over.
07:20Timmy and Cody are back at each other's throats.
07:23F***.
07:24Don't throw s*** over your f***ing throats, man.
07:27F*** me.
07:28What the f*** have you done here?
07:31Come on.
07:32It's really hard,
07:33and when you're not catching fish,
07:35I mean, everyone's mood just drops, you know.
07:38F***ing just bite, man.
07:39Every f***ing day I'll tell you the same s***.
07:41Grab these forward.
07:43I don't know why you don't f***ing listen.
07:46Oh, f***.
07:47I'm feeling pretty down in the dumps
07:49because we're not catching any fish,
07:50and I'm feeling a fair bit of negative energy
07:53coming from the deck as well.
07:55F***ing go home.
07:56Don't have to f***ing see you again.
07:59Yeah, s***.
08:01Bugger old fish.
08:03I'm ready to go home, Link.
08:06F***ing over it.
08:16We've lost ten pots for two days.
08:20Pedra Branca and Squeezy
08:22is desperate to find his ten missing pots.
08:25When you find them, point.
08:27Yeah!
08:30The tide's pulling the buoys down.
08:32They're under the surface,
08:33so we can't see them.
08:35It's that simple.
08:36I know they're there,
08:37but just we can't get them.
08:39It's a double dose of discontent.
08:43The gear alone is worth $5,000.
08:47500 a pot.
08:49And then there's the loss of income
08:51generated by the pots.
08:53You can't leave ten pots behind.
08:54You know, you miss five shots.
08:57If you average in 100,
08:58that's 100 trays you've missed.
09:00And that's equal to about $6,000
09:03in cold, hard cash.
09:05This is a bad scenario for us.
09:07This is just lose money day
09:09because them pots aren't fishing.
09:12This tide's starting to go slack now,
09:14so this is the chance.
09:17This could be our only shot this morning
09:19to find these ten pots.
09:22If they're up, we're out of here.
09:23We'll leave them in Pedro.
09:25If they're not up, we'll stay them.
09:28It's just that simple.
09:29You can't leave ten pots behind.
09:31It's dire straits. It really is.
09:33I need to get them back, get them fishing
09:35so we can get our target
09:37because at the moment we've got no chance
09:39of getting the target at 40 pots.
09:45Look at that.
09:47It's lighting up the sky up pink everywhere,
09:49all around us.
09:52You've got sunrise and moon.
09:54Awesome in one shot.
09:55Come on, let's go.
10:03Yeah, boy.
10:05Pull that rope.
10:06Hell yeah, boy.
10:08Yeah, boy.
10:12I'm proud of you.
10:14Thanks.
10:15Because you need to know that.
10:16You need to know that you're doing a good job.
10:19I know I'm going to do a good job.
10:20Just don't ever hear it.
10:21Bryce is old school.
10:23He's as hard on himself as he is on Lockie.
10:27His journey here has been a tough-as-nails one.
10:31Bryce started his lobster hunting journey in this.
10:34I really can't afford for the sale.
10:36Put everything into this.
10:38Then he upgraded to his dad's boat.
10:41Bryce was full of front.
10:43I'm just here to catch lobsters.
10:45And I don't care who's in my way.
10:47But he didn't catch much.
10:50Hey, nothing so far.
10:52At the rate I'm going,
10:53it looks like I got my licence out of a cereal box.
10:55And now here he is.
10:59160 on the knocker gives us 320 for the day.
11:04That's the chance, man.
11:06Good.
11:07Oh, yeah!
11:10A legit contender for the top spot on the tally board.
11:15He's come a long way in three seasons.
11:18When it comes to the pressure of catching fish on the chieftain,
11:21at the end of the day, it's not my boat.
11:23It's not me paying the bills.
11:24I'm trying to catch the fish to pay them.
11:26But if I don't do a well enough job,
11:29Dad's got no reason to keep me around.
11:34When it comes to my father, a lot of people can say,
11:38oh, he's hard on you, or this and that.
11:39But I beg to differ.
11:42I think that if you're not pushed consistently
11:46to try harder and harder and harder,
11:48then, you know, you just won't make it.
11:54This might be a family business, but at the end of the day,
11:56there's nothing keeping me here other than Dad.
11:59If he decides that I'm not catching enough fish,
12:00I haven't been doing well enough recently,
12:02I'm off the boat the next skipper's on.
12:04That's just how it works, and I don't have a problem with that.
12:06It just pushes me to work harder,
12:08and it should push Lockie to work harder,
12:10because he's in the same boat.
12:11Tip on up!
12:13What?
12:14Yeah, I can't do anything.
12:15Just wait two seconds.
12:17I've got to turn the boat.
12:18I just expect, like any skipper should,
12:22I expect people to listen.
12:25I expect them to understand why I'm saying something.
12:28Yep. Yep.
12:29If I was my father standing here,
12:31and I said to someone, do this,
12:33and they didn't,
12:35their response would be tenfold.
12:37You can't do anything.
12:38Put the boat in reverse.
12:40Damn.
12:40So if I've got something to say, you listen.
12:42If you don't, get off the boat.
12:52900 metres to D-Day.
12:54D-Day for us, anyway.
12:57Come on, baby.
12:58Be up.
12:59Squizzy is motoring to the spot
13:01where ten of his pots were dragged under by a power tide.
13:05The pots have been underwater for two days.
13:07Jump up on the bow for us.
13:09We're here.
13:12Question is, what's in them?
13:14At the end of the day, I've stuffed up,
13:17the crew aren't earning money,
13:19and I'm costing this boat money.
13:20It was my decision, so I'm stressed.
13:25You know, the stress levels go through the roof with me pretty quick.
13:28I don't handle stress well.
13:40Is that one there?
13:42Yeah, baby, yeah!
13:44Woo-hoo!
13:45That's him!
13:45All right.
13:46That's him!
13:48You beauty!
13:51See it, Jesse?
13:52Yeah, yeah, I see it, see it.
13:52Yeah, we're on, we're on!
13:56Oh, the El Capitano will be happy now.
13:59He'll be able to take his crabby pants off.
14:02I believe in lobster guides,
14:04and there's a guide on Pedro Blanca.
14:09You've been a very naughty boy!
14:12Where you been?
14:13Get on now!
14:22Two down, eight to go.
14:24There's another one.
14:30See that other one, Jess?
14:32We're getting them back, mate?
14:33We're getting them back, Captain.
14:35We're a 50 potter again.
14:37Yeah, baby!
14:39Woo-hoo!
14:43I'm out of here.
14:44I'm not setting them back.
14:48Well, that sun's nice.
14:50It's a bit of sun.
14:52Good.
14:54Look at the dolphins back.
14:57Oh, f***.
14:58The decky dramas on the Pira
15:00have ended as quickly as they started.
15:03Usually they like to hang off the nose
15:05and sort of get a free ride.
15:06Oh!
15:08Yeah!
15:14Yo!
15:15I've got 42 out of that lot.
15:1642.
15:17Pretty average, isn't it?
15:19Not that flash.
15:21Miles' plan C strategy is now just that.
15:25C grade.
15:27Yeah, a little bit disappointed this morning.
15:29The fishing's dropped right off.
15:31We're all shot in the same area we had them yesterday.
15:34Basically, we're getting a half of what we're getting yesterday out of the pot, so...
15:39We're definitely getting our ass kicked today.
15:42It's not really where we want to be at all.
15:44It's a bit of a kick in the guts, to be honest.
15:47It's f***ing different everywhere.
15:49Generally, fishing drops off.
15:52Tides start racing.
15:54The first one was Norvely.
15:55The second one was South Wesley.
15:57Then the third one was Norvely.
15:59And now it's South Wesley here.
16:01I can just tell by steaming into it.
16:02Yep.
16:04F***ing ridiculous.
16:05So, look, my challenge for the day is to try and bloody stay consistent with our numbers.
16:12You know?
16:13Just keep the fishing going.
16:14Like, we've only got another two shots after this one.
16:18So, I just want to try and set up those next two shots.
16:21So, I've got to go looking again.
16:23And you'd think right at the end of the trip we shouldn't have to do any looking.
16:29Where do we go?
16:30F***ing.
16:31We've just finished off Plan C and we've sort of got to go to Plan D now.
16:35So...
16:36I've got no idea.
16:38Can we go out to the east?
16:41Um, yeah.
16:42I'm starting to run out of odd years.
16:56Port Davie.
16:57And the Burrans day shot is full of value.
17:03Numbers are looking really good today.
17:05Best day so far, I think.
17:07So far.
17:08Considering how many pots we've got on board.
17:11We're nearly halfway through our gear.
17:13We've got 47 fish so far.
17:16We're nearly on to average.
17:18Yeah, baby!
17:20If we can keep it up, get our triple figures, I'll be over the moon with it.
17:24We don't want to lose our average of what we're going on at the moment.
17:27That's the way, Johnny boy!
17:29If anything, we want to pick up a little bit.
17:32It amps me up.
17:35Up!
17:37Johnny's f***ing happy.
17:39Johnny's bouncing off the walls this morning, buddy.
17:42One.
17:44One's better than none, not as good as two.
17:47Happy Johnny, happy lobster.
17:51What's he done there?
17:55Put a gun in your hand, mate, you'll be f***ing John Wayne.
18:01A couple of fish, hopefully there's a few size.
18:05No problem with fish in the pots here.
18:07F***, that's the size of it.
18:09It's good to see in this area that there's a lot of fish here.
18:12You know, where there's undersized fish, there's sized fish amongst them.
18:16So it's a good thing to keep in the back of your mind too, you know.
18:19If I see a lot of fish here this year that are just under,
18:23this time next year they're probably going to be perfect, ready to go.
18:27I'm still questioning whether we take off down there
18:29and try and get a few bigger ones for our last shot
18:31or if we hang around here for another one.
18:34But we'll see how these ones here go.
18:44The bold contender has retrieved its ten missing pots
18:48and is now back to being a 50-pot boat.
18:51And with that, Squizzy is changing tack.
18:56Zag's Ledge!
18:57Hey!
18:58Zag's Ledge or the Friars?
19:00Which one's your gut feeling telling you?
19:02Yeah.
19:03He wants to move on to try and avoid losing pots again.
19:07Yeah.
19:08Which is probably a good thing
19:09because he might be in a better mood then.
19:11He doesn't like it when he loses gear.
19:14I'm a little bit torn where to go to.
19:16I'm thinking Zag's Ledge.
19:18It's just a massive ledge what runs east to west, all the Friars.
19:23But if I go back to the Friars, I'm thinking Myles and Bryce are there.
19:27So I'm thinking Zag's Ledge.
19:29I've just got to make sure they're not thinking the same.
19:32Yeah.
19:33You don't want to get the Zag's Ledge and there's already a boat on it
19:35because you will not fit on it.
19:41Yo!
19:41What's happening?
19:42Oh, not much.
19:43I've got my pots back and I'm out of here.
19:46Oh, beautiful.
19:47Oh, that's bloody good.
19:49Yeah, Roger.
19:50I've just seen where you and Bryce and that were any other boats.
19:54Oh, you're going to come this way to the Friars?
19:56Well, that or Zag's Ledge, I was thinking.
19:59It's not very often I reach out to fellow fishermen.
20:02I don't follow fellow fishermen.
20:05I do my own thing.
20:08You're like on the eastern side?
20:10Um, yeah.
20:12Yeah.
20:13I'm not one of these what they call telephone fishermen.
20:16Find out where the fish are and go chase them.
20:19Because the time you get there, them fish are already gone.
20:22Yeah, Roger.
20:23Is Bryce out there today?
20:25No, I don't think he is.
20:28All right.
20:29I'll make my mind up what I do.
20:30I'll go there or Zag's Ledge.
20:33Yeah, righto.
20:36If there's a theme for the fleet today, it's where to go now.
20:41I think we might hightail it down to the south coast for you.
20:45I'm just going to try and find somewhere to go and we'll start shooting, I think.
20:49I've got two more shots.
20:51So I've got to try and find the most fish for those two shots.
21:00Six, seven, eight.
21:04What was the total for the morning?
21:0668.
21:0768.
21:09The Chieftain's morning catch has come in at 68 lobsters.
21:13Felt like more than that.
21:15That's 30 short of Bryce's target.
21:17That would have been 60 kilo at least.
21:20With just one day of hunting to go, all eyes are on the prize.
21:25To claim the top spot on the tally board.
21:29Bryce needs to make his day shot count.
21:35Today we're going to go quite a bit deeper.
21:37And this is where we find the bigger brindles.
21:39Miles is out in this depth, so I'm interested to see what's actually out here.
21:42We're going to go down to 65 fathom with 50 fathom lines.
21:45We're going to join a 15 on top and that will give us our 65.
21:49So today Miles has asked us to join some lines.
21:54Not because we're fishing over 50 fathom, but because we're fishing in deep water with lots of tide.
22:01So it'll just make it easier to retrieve the lines.
22:04It's a last day shot, so I might as well give it a crack and just go deep.
22:08See what happens.
22:10Worst case is we catch shit all and it is what it is.
22:20The deeper the lines, the more chance of weightier lobsters.
22:23Which means more money for everyone.
22:26Fingers crossed.
22:29Squeezy.
22:31Hey, how you going?
22:32Not too bad.
22:34Better now, I've got me 10 pots back.
22:37Where are you?
22:39I'm on the most south-western fryer bottom.
22:44I might go to the legs then.
22:48We'll go there for a look.
22:49If you're on that, I won't come and shoot through you.
22:53Oh, we can be friends.
22:55You just told me where you are, so now I'll go somewhere else.
22:58Because that's where I was thinking.
22:59Yeah.
23:01He says he wants to be polite and not shoot near me, but it hasn't stopped him before.
23:05See what I do, mate.
23:06We'll see what we do.
23:09At the end of the day, it's getting to the point of the boy who cried woof.
23:13It's really hard to tell what's true and what's not with him.
23:17You know, if Squeezy rocks up, doesn't bother me if he does, doesn't bother me if he doesn't.
23:21I couldn't care less.
23:23I'll just do what I do, focus on this boat, what we're doing, focus on us on deck.
23:28Woo!
23:29And I'll just leave it at that.
23:31They're looking pretty happy.
23:32The only thing that's important to me about everyone else is when they're unloading and whether or not it'll impact
23:39the market.
23:39Because for me, the only thing that matters is whether or not this boat has made money.
23:57And he didn't miss.
24:00Woo!
24:02On ya, Jonathan.
24:04Last pot, brubba.
24:06No keepers.
24:08The Buran's night shot has delivered 88 lobsters.
24:12A few craze in there, but no keepers.
24:14It's a soft result for Jack.
24:16Look, it's a bit of a kick in the ass, you know.
24:19We got 91 yesterday.
24:19I really thought we'd better improve on that.
24:22Especially, you know, dropping our day shot yesterday to spend our time getting our night shot in the water too.
24:28I've got three game plans in my head.
24:30I need to work out which one's going to be the best, really.
24:34I don't have a triple-sided coin.
24:37Look, where we're at at this point in time in the trip, the amount of fish we've got on board
24:40with the weight.
24:41You know, we're sort of borderline that if we have a couple of bad shots, we're going to come in
24:46from this trip with a bill.
24:48We need to have a couple of reasonable ones to make any money from this trip.
24:53Securing the right price for his premium reds is critical for Jack.
24:58With several boats unloading tomorrow, there are rumours of a price drop.
25:03A few whispers on the radio and on the phone that the price is going to drop, so...
25:08Yeah, if the price drops $5 a kilo, $10 a kilo, you know, over a ton of fish at five
25:14bucks, it's $5,000 lost.
25:17Jack needs to firm up his main buyer.
25:20Price uncertainty is the last thing he needs right now.
25:25Jack, how are you, mate?
25:26Good, Michael, how are you? How about yourself, mate?
25:29Oh, it's pretty bad.
25:30Are you having a busy day tomorrow?
25:32Yeah, she's pretty busy.
25:34Yeah.
25:35Do you reckon you can squeeze me in tomorrow as well?
25:38I've got a lot riding on me.
25:39I've got my expenses, I've got Johnny's, I've got the old man, you know, I've got to keep him fed
25:45too.
25:46And I've got this wedding to pay for too, you know.
25:48The venue doesn't pay for itself, neither does the DJ, and the beer definitely doesn't either.
25:54What's the price of Mike at the moment?
25:58I'm still holding, the mate hasn't changed.
26:00Hasn't changed since the last time we spoke.
26:02No worries at all, Michael, thank you very much.
26:05Thank you too, Jack. See you, mate.
26:06Cheers, mate. See you tomorrow.
26:07The lobster price remains steady at between $60 and $85 a kilo.
26:13It's welcome news for Jack.
26:16But prices have been known to crash overnight.
26:20Until the lobsters are fully unloaded at port, the rollercoaster ride will continue.
26:27We don't need to get any more of a kick in the ass than we've already got today.
26:35He's got a bottom 11, mate.
26:37Oh, he's f***ing missed.
26:38You would miss. There's no time. And you literally missed.
26:41Team Chieftain is hunting for large brindles.
26:44He missed!
26:46120 metres deep.
26:48Yeah, I was stepping on the line, guys.
26:50The whole 15's on the surface.
26:52Oh my gosh!
26:54The extra long lines are causing trouble.
26:59Oh, you're going to have sore arms.
27:04Why don't we even tie them on?
27:06Oh, Dad, just in case, the tide was going to scream today.
27:10Remember, you've got about 15 fathom of line behind you.
27:15We put extra line on, but between Jock missing
27:19and him just deciding that it's quicker to pull 15 fathom in by hand,
27:23we're finally lifting one pot.
27:25We're catching craze, mate.
27:27Don't you step on my rope again, Lockie.
27:29No, we're not catching craze.
27:33Oh, it's like working with a giraffe is learning to walk that also has no common sense.
27:37It's really good. I love it.
27:39No, I'm joking. I love working with Doc.
27:41He's my bestie boo. He's my BFFF.
27:43My best fishing friend forever.
27:50Oh, my f***ing God.
27:51Jock, are you f***ing kidding me?
27:53I'm not kidding.
27:54Jock.
27:55I got it.
27:58Do you know why I missed that?
27:59I thought you'd dance like me.
28:02This is going to be the longest day of the trip.
28:04I f***ing know it.
28:14Well, we've just done a doughnut.
28:19I've got no idea how we're going to go tonight.
28:21Anyhow.
28:23Miles is momentarily all out of ideas.
28:42it's really disappointing because we've only been here for one day at a really good day and
28:46now the fish just disappeared so i reckon we'll have to go back towards the fries but the fishing
28:52just died off but we've moved them a bit shallower so we just we'll just see how they
28:55how they come off yeah hopefully we can find something for tonight that's fishing yeah that's
29:02what i call it fishing and not farming problem is the chieftain crew is where miles wants to go
29:15they've claimed the best bottom and are killing it
29:26sent a video of bryce he's posted up on social media and he's pulling up you know a pot full
29:31of
29:31some some big cries i just seen on locky's snapchat they just pulled a massive pot
29:38or big dogs it looks like he might be doing pretty well out there which is
29:42sort of throwing salt in the wounds today since we're not really doing that well
29:46he needs a few more big ones to catch up mate there's just 24 hours of the season remaining
29:52we're doing shit now see what we can do the three-way race for the top spot is heating up
29:59it's miles versus squizzy versus bryce
30:04it's bloody bryce feeds this day
30:09just don't know if he does beat me i'm just going to get over it i'll have to call him
30:15up and
30:15congratulate him on his win if he does baby jesus christ that'll be hard
30:27come on try fishies squizzy continues to run his own race he's decided to head to zag's ledge
30:38we're at zag's ledge it's another gamble but at least i know one thing no boats been here for 10
30:45days
30:46because we've been working to the north of this area and the south of this area and i have not
30:51seen
30:51any lights out here so hopefully uh we can find something at the end of the day when you go
30:57to a
30:58new area you never know what you're going to catch you don't know the fish might not be running there
31:02so hopefully the lobster gods are kind to us and mate we finish off strong because by god we need
31:09it
31:15how many is in that one john 11 11 11. like a real 11 or a fake 11. oh team
31:24chieftain is halfway
31:25through its day shot the crew's numbers are lifting 82 82 yeah bryce is more determined than ever
31:34to reach his two-ton target these pots are just going to be sporadic all day i think
31:45hey bryce how are you mate good blakey yourself yeah not too bad bryce has locked in 60 to 85
31:53dollars
31:54for the big reds okay yep yep and five dollars less for the smaller brindles so we're going to be
32:03coming up around maybe the hundred thousand dollar mark when it comes to selling lobsters
32:11strategy is everything bryce has a second buyer up his sleeve tasmanian seafood empire muir's will
32:20pay a higher price but for smaller quantities see if they want some fish or not it'd be nice if
32:27they
32:27could take a a few hiring jock heir to the muir's dynasty might turn out to have been an absolute
32:35stroke of genius it's going to take this call bryce yeah no worries yeah go to the back one sec
32:39no
32:40worries hello jock how you going yeah good mate a bit busy but but we're good ah very nice what
32:48you been up to oh just just something different matter mixing things up i'm out of the office at the
32:53moment oh yeah beautiful spot i mean though beautiful spot yeah nice yeah so what you got some
33:00lobs for me do you i heard you got some lobs that's what i heard on the grapevine just got
33:04a gut feeling
33:05deep in my chest yeah that's it look we're probably chasing about 200 kilo yep well i reckon we can
33:11do
33:11that all right then thank you for that i'll write it in the notebook talk to you soon cheers mate
33:18sounds like we've got a deal
33:30it looks pretty fishy in here bro
33:37hello
33:41in lobster hunting there's always a chance of hitting the jackpot
33:48jack's headed south to try and do just that to a spectacular spot called cox bluff
33:59sensational bro
34:03where i've headed today this at times can be a really good shot but it's hard to get your gear
34:08in here most of the time because of swell
34:12you get the right winds you get the right swell and you'll have a good shot here
34:15if i ever marry someone i'm going to propose to them on that little ledge in there
34:22with candles and a little table in there already set up you can just come drop me off jackie boy
34:27look at cox's bluff i've had some really good shots there and i've had some really bad shots there but
34:33in all of that the fish there are usually a bit bigger a very nice runner fish
34:39a bit of luck a bit of luck pick up a few in the morning
34:54a bit of tide going by look at that
34:59let's go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go
35:06at zag's ledge squizzy's first shot is looking promising looking at this right now we've made
35:13the right call we left pedro blanker we've come here to zag's ledge i'm glad we moved
35:20squizzy's tanks are well stocked with lobsters over 1.5 kilograms buyers are offering top dollar for
35:27those beautiful over a kilo and a half is 80. would have a lot of fish over a kilo and
35:35a half so i'm
35:37hoping that brings our average up price sounds good it's going to work in our favor we've got a lot
35:44of
35:44big fish you know over a kilo and a half so we've got the top end fish what they want
35:49the highest price
35:50so that's more bang for buck woohoo i'm happy with that rhino rhino seven come to daddy oh
36:04another seven two sevens nice fish rhino hey nice fish yeah what that last one have rhino seven three
36:14sevens yeah they're coming in thick that's uh average of seven a pot every pot so far

36:33you took the gamble to come and have a look at zag's thanks zag
36:39awesome mate thank you you wouldn't read about it tip top
36:51i'd make everything harder everything harder the friars and team chieftain is hard at it
37:02we've been going since four o'clock this morning that'll give me some help
37:12physical exhaustion isn't even the half of it i don't know if there'll be any size ones in here

37:39for tomorrow yet
37:40no no three ah now i'm just pissed off
37:48boss knows how to ruin my day yeah three o'clock's locky's favorite time to get up
37:53yeah i was having a good day and then you ruined it oh you've only got three hours of cleaning
37:58three hours of cleaning you reckon hey could this be the makings of a decky mutiny
38:043 a.m 3 a.m the birds are still asleep the sun isn't even up the sun's on the
38:15other side of the
38:16planet's hill all right make it 2 30. what
38:36that moon looks wicked yeah that's wild wigging me out
38:42we pulled the first 17 pots on zag's ledge and they've been awesome sevens heaps of sevens
38:49west pot's been a three i'm sitting straight back these 17 and uh hopefully they just keep coming yep
39:01these dolphins here just planting the light i can see them playing this day
39:06this could be the best shot of the trip i hope it is the dolphins are beside the boat it's
39:14just it's
39:15a good feeling nights like this you really enjoy i love being a fisherman out in this environment
39:22it's a bloody good office out here 150 is our best shot for the trip so far
39:29i'm hoping to beat it this shot we'll be close cut my lucky props at the end be good
39:36squizzy wants two tons of lobsters by tomorrow
39:41it's a tall order but if anyone can do it the old sea dog can
39:48be nice to go in with 2 000 fish that'd be nice but we've got a long way to go
39:54and he has put us on the fish this afternoon i'm quite impressed he decided we were up and moving
40:00i didn't say anything because he is the el capitano oh this could be a bad move and
40:08moving for new ground when we're still catching fish but uh it's paid off you go with your gut feel
40:15that's all i do go with gut feel and luck and experience that that is it i don't know any
40:22other
40:23way to explain it we've locked in download tomorrow 2 30. it's 80 for the fish over 1.5 kilos
40:30let's hope

41:25hey you got 102. yeah i thought it was gonna be better after yesterday
41:31pull that modified for the day we had a few all right pots but yeah
41:36it's pretty disappointing really you know i mean it's over 150 you know it's
41:42it's here and there but it's just it's not compared to what we were catching the other day
41:47and you know to beat everyone i think we need a few more
41:52this is what the tally board looked like yesterday
41:55the pira was in top spot with 1661 lobsters the chieftain had 1636 lobsters the bold contender was in
42:09third place on 1626 and the baran was in fourth place on 666 lobsters
42:23miles yesterday's champion is not about to go down without a final day's fight
42:30all right we just use the rest of that bait up and we'll just lay dover right up oh yeah
42:35sounds
42:36good we've got this big square pot we've nicknamed him dover so we'll use all this bait go to get
42:41all
42:41this baby smash it in there davis has been our best catching pot by far i think the most we
42:47had
42:47out of him was 17 size fish yeah we're gonna load dove right up give him a bit of bait
42:53and see what
42:55he can give us hey hopefully if we treat those right he'll treat us right back we got a nice
43:01fish for us
43:04how many is in there one two three four five six bait savers yeah i reckon we put about 10
43:14kilo of
43:14bait in dover yeah and i've just come around i've tried to find this nice little spot for him and
