00:00As Benin citizens cast their votes in Sunday's presidential election,
00:05say that the country's current president, Patrice Talon,
00:09Talon is stepping down after two five-year terms as Benin's leader.
00:16Today, whatever the outcome of the vote,
00:19we can all be certain that Benin has taken a step forward in its history.
00:23And that is what the people expect from their leaders,
00:26to guide the community towards progress in all areas.
00:30Including the most sensitive and controversial ones.
00:37Patrice Talon has notably endorsed his current finance minister,
00:41Romuald Wadagny, as his successor to the presidency.
00:46I want to reassure everyone that the best is yet to come for Benin.
00:50We have done some small things.
00:52We have taken small steps everywhere.
00:54Now we need to take big steps.
00:56I am convinced, and as I often say,
00:58my wish is to see with my own eyes a great and powerful Benin.
01:03Despite facing continued jihadist attacks in its north,
01:07Benin has managed to considerably grow its economy over the past decade.
01:11Thank you very much.
01:12Thank you Lord.
