00:00Brazil and China, strategic allies in economic and political matters, seek to deepen the ties between their peoples.
00:07For this reason, 2026 was declared the year of Brazilian culture in China.
00:12A Rio de Janeiro correspondent in Beijing, Bruno Fauci, attended one of these events and brings us the following report.
00:20Beijing at the China Foreign Languages, publishing in Administration, a state body that translates and disseminates international works,
00:30a classic by Darcy Ribeiro, a great interpreter of the Brazilian people, was lodged in Mandarin.
00:37This event was part of the Year of Brazilian Culture in China, a joint initiative of the Lula and Xi
00:44Jinping governments.
00:49Today is a historic day for the Darcy Ribeiro Foundation and for Brazilian culture,
00:53because we have managed to publish in Mandarin the seminal book by Darcy Ribeiro, a great contemporary interpreter of the
00:58Brazilian people.
00:58He doesn't speak of the past, he speaks of the future, showing the difficulties the Brazilian people have overcome
01:03and the struggles they still face in a certain tensile assassination.
01:06Bringing this book to China is to touch the hearts of Chinese youth, awakening their will for the future,
01:11their appreciation of beauty, solidarity and their desire to build a better world,
01:14while also learning from China, which today represents a point of equilibrium in the world.
01:21The auditorium was filled with members of the Brazilian community in China,
01:26at one of the several events that will take place throughout the year,
01:31organized by the Brazilian Embassy in conjunction with the Chinese Communist Party Governance.
01:37The initiative seeks to foster friendship and cooperation among the peoples of the global South.
01:46Darcy saw the Chinese Revolution as a fundamental temple for humanity,
01:50a revolution that allowed a large part of the population to achieve just a high-quality modernization.
01:55For him it was a global benchmark that should be studied and served as a goal for other countries.
01:59At the same time his work highlights Brazil's potential to build peaceful, superb and beautiful relationships among peoples,
02:05as a new human configuration that brings distinct elements to coexistence.
02:10This is what we seek to promote by bringing Darcy's work here,
02:13experiences of solidarity that strengthen peaceful coexistence among peoples.
02:19The translation of the book, The Brazilian People, The Formation and Meaning of Brazil,
02:25allows Chinese students, academics and readers to directly access the work
02:30and reflect on the history and culture of the Brazilian people.
02:34This exchange contributes to greater mutual understanding and the building of cultural ties between Brazil and China.
02:46China has a global civilization initiative seeking dialogue among different peoples and building a community with a shared future.
02:54Translating the books of great Brazilian thinkers is fundamental because it helps us better understand Brazil
02:59and reflect on our own paths to modernization.
03:03Our nations have similar histories such as colonialism.
03:07Today countries of the global South are seeking direct engagement,
03:10fostering dialogue that deepens mutual understanding.
03:14Listening to the Brazilian people define themselves in their own voice is essential.
03:20This type of initiative demonstrates that the peoples of the global South can build relationships based on solidarity,
03:28mutual respect and cooperation, creating a space for cultural exchange that strengthens the identity and voice of our nations in
03:37the face of global power centers.
