00:00Hello, I'm Angela Scanlon and welcome to Unfinished Business, the show that takes a closer look into The Apprentice as
00:06the end draws near.
00:07Coming up, Lord Sugar shares his thoughts ahead of the grand finale.
00:11I'll be speaking to Dan Priesh and Lawrence, the three unlucky candidates who fell just short of the final.
00:18And to help me unpack how they did, I'm joined by Series 8 winner Ricky Martin and presenter Harriet Rose.
00:25Welcome to The Apprentice, Unfinished Business.
00:32It's Ricky and Harriet, everyone. I love a self-clap.
00:36I was going to say, should I have clapped myself? I was actually clapping Ricky.
00:39No, you were both clapping and I felt like I had to clap at that point.
00:41You were meant to clap for me, Ricky.
00:43If you can't be your own hype gal, who can, you know?
00:46It's official. We have reached the final, almost.
00:49Two finalists, Pasha and Karishma. For one of them, life is about to change completely.
00:55Lord Sugar, over the course of 20 Series, 3.5 million he's invested, including in yourself.
01:01You went through the process back in 2012, Ricky.
01:04How much is life about to change?
01:06Look, if you look at my example, I was living on the South Coast.
01:10I was a recruiter by day, a wrestler by night.
01:13I now live in and around London.
01:15I run a business that's a 20 million turnover company.
01:17I've run it with him for nearly 15 years.
01:20I've got married, I have kids, I have a family.
01:22And my business puts people into jobs.
01:24We've put over 10,000 people into jobs over that time.
01:26So it's not just my life that's changed.
01:28This role can change the lives of many others thereafter.
01:31And these two are right on the cusp of that.
01:32Harry, it's an all-female final.
01:34Slay.
01:35We love to see it. We love to see it.
01:37I love that you say slay in real life. I've never met one of them.
01:39In real life.
01:40So true.
01:42How much pressure do you imagine Karishma and Pasha are under right now?
01:48I think these two queens don't feel pressure.
01:51It seems to me that they are both kind of slick ricks.
01:54I can see the confidence seeping out of them and it's beautiful.
01:58Absolutely. Interview's weak.
01:59They dread it.
02:00The candidates are like, you know, they want to be there, obviously.
02:04Final five.
02:04We can't get enough of it at home.
02:07Four of Lord Sugar's most trusted advisors.
02:09They dig deep, don't they, into these business plans.
02:12Claude, Claudine, Linda and Mike.
02:14Not a group that you'd want to get on the wrong side of,
02:17I think it's fair to say.
02:17If you look at the four people interviewing,
02:20they're all doing something different.
02:23Claudine's trying to suss out the human in the person.
02:26So what are they going to show?
02:27Mike's trying to suss out, actually, are they savvy enough?
02:29Is this replicatable? Does it work? Does it exist?
02:32Claude's hammering you on your numbers and your resilience.
02:35And I'm not even going to go there with Linda.
02:38I'm not going to say what she brings to the...
02:39Linda's just there for our entertainment.
02:41Yes.
02:42We love her.
02:43Linda's like, boom!
02:45Can you deal with that?
02:46Okay, let's discuss how our finalists handled those interviews.
02:52Karishma, obviously skincare-infused beauty brand.
02:55She got a couple of tests there from Mike.
02:57It felt like it was the first time we saw, like, nerves.
03:01Physical nerves.
03:02I guess that's to be expected at this point.
03:05Look, she's at the stage where this is this 11th week of the process.
03:09And this is the week you're finally getting to discuss something
03:12that's really important to you, your business, your opportunity.
03:14It's actually the time you're most vulnerable and exposed as a candidate.
03:18To see the kind of reason and the personal, you know,
03:22the amount she's invested in it.
03:24How important is the why in business, do you think?
03:27I think it's the most important thing.
03:29If you look at any consumer product you buy,
03:31nine times out of ten you're buying it because you're bought into the story.
03:34And this is where I think Karishma did so, so well.
03:37Like, we really saw the human being in her.
03:40Like, hugely saw the human being.
03:41And beyond dad in the warehouse, like, what she's done to get there,
03:46the personal impact when she was 16.
03:47And do you know what?
03:48She wants to get a consumer product to market.
03:50And she's just sold her story to us all for us to try and buy into that future.
03:56And that drive, you cannot question that.
03:58Pasha, also extremely impressive.
04:01The youngest candidate.
04:02She's so confident, really.
04:04And she obviously has a lot to learn.
04:06But let's talk about the moment where I actually thought,
04:09oh, no, this is it, when Claudine pulled up the LinkedIn picture.
04:14And I thought, oh, no.
04:16Oh, no.
04:17This is not going.
04:18No, no, no.
04:18This is not going at all.
04:21What were you thinking when you...
04:23And she got it, you know, it was a physical copy.
04:27The iconic, the printout of it is Chef's Kiss.
04:30And it's kind of one of those moments in the series
04:32where she will live off that memory of how funny and iconic that is.
04:36But I do think that was a moment where she, again,
04:38handled it with grace.
04:40She handled it with decorum.
04:41And she understood and admitted that that was probably not the right vibe.
04:46She shows a kind of edge and a steeliness
04:49that I think is so inspired, actually.
04:53And I think she's given it throughout the series.
04:54I've been so impressed with her relentlessly.
04:58She, as a person, like Karishma,
05:01is super driven, super ready to work.
05:05Shortly, we're going to be talking to Laurence, Dan and Priesh.
05:07But first, it's time to hear from my correspondent.
05:12The boss.
05:14The big boss, Lauren Sugar.
05:17Angela, the interviews came around faster than a dodgy deal.
05:22And unfortunately for Laurence, Dan and Priesh,
05:26they didn't provide the clarity, confidence or conviction needed
05:30to justify the business risk.
05:34Karishma and Pasha were just a cut above the rest.
05:38And this is going to be a hard final decision.
05:42Oh, Angela, it's been a while.
05:44Let's catch up properly next week to chat all about my new business partner.
05:51What am I going to wear?
05:52Gagged.
05:52What are you going to wear?
05:54I don't know.
05:55He will not care what you wear.
05:56Oh, my God.
05:56A suit.
05:57I feel like it's a suit.
05:58Maybe he's in smart cash.
05:59Let's see.
05:59Anyway, it's not about me.
06:00Let's move on.
06:01It is time to chat to the fired candidate
06:03who really put the sales in.
06:05Salesman, let's remind ourselves
06:06of just how committed Laurence was to the art of selling.
06:10Three carbonaras.
06:11Three carbonaras.
06:13Can I make it 50 if it gives you a smile?
06:15Yeah.
06:16First Italian customers.
06:18This is the big test, guys.
06:20The Italian says...
06:21I guess it's eight and a half.
06:23Thank you so much.
06:26For the energy, for the enthusiasm,
06:29can we get a 50p tip?
06:31Oh!
06:35Yeah.
06:38It's Laurence, everybody.
06:43Thank you for having me.
06:44Yeah, I'm not going to do that in here.
06:45But, yeah, I love that.
06:47Honestly, the commitment,
06:48is that the sales technique you generally use?
06:50Don't get me wrong.
06:50I was dialed up a bit more.
06:52I'm not sitting there on Zoom calls being a...
06:55But, like, it was dialed up from where I usually am.
06:58But, like, it did get the crowd coming in.
07:01So, like, just run it and just enjoy myself.
07:03It was such a good laugh.
07:05Well, it was great.
07:06It was great.
07:06It showed initiative.
07:07We love it.
07:08Let's chat about the interviews, OK?
07:10The ultimate selling task, really,
07:12because you're selling yourself.
07:14How do you think you did in them?
07:15Listen, I just wanted to be myself.
07:17Like, I did as much as I could throughout the process.
07:19It's so intense.
07:21You've got to believe in it to be there.
07:22And, like, I always believe in trying to find better ways to do things.
07:25And the ideas in the business plan,
07:27they're all things that I've seen in my day job
07:30that could be better and could be improved.
07:32So, like, I just wanted to...
07:34I had two choices, really.
07:35I could either sit there and put my tail between my legs
07:37and just go, sorry, sorry, sorry.
07:38Or I could, like, go out there
07:40and try and really back myself and stand by what I believed in.
07:43You mentioned that, actually, weirdly, you like job interviews.
07:46Do you still like job interviews?
07:48Yeah, I do.
07:48I actually really enjoyed the day.
07:50I mean, even after Claude kicked me out,
07:52I came downstairs, I was cracking jokes.
07:54Like, I was like, yeah, I think he really likes it, actually.
07:56But, like...
07:57LAUGHTER
07:57He didn't like it.
07:59He didn't like it.
08:00But I think they all, to be fair, saw ambition, really.
08:04They appreciated the scales to which you were reaching,
08:08but felt maybe the business plan let you down a bit,
08:11that you're in the business of, you know, people and personality
08:14and that actually the business plan maybe didn't reflect that.
08:16Yeah, I mean, it was one of those things that, like,
08:19I work in tech PR quite a lot,
08:21so I understand the elements of putting tech into something.
08:24So I worked with Octopus Energy when I first started working PR
08:27and they took tech and put it into energy and then there's Uber
08:30and, like, PR is an industry that hasn't happened for yet
08:33and it's starting to emerge.
08:35But I'm so much a believer in people that, like,
08:38I don't want tech to come along and replace people.
08:41I want it to really help people.
08:42Listen, I went in there with something I believed in
08:44and it didn't work out.
08:46I've got to pitch my idea to some, you know, serious people
08:49and I've got feedback that I can take forward as well.
08:51Yeah.
08:53Harry, as Ricky, how do you think Lawrence did in the interviews?
08:56Look, I think the best thing about your interviews particularly
08:58is not only did you just stand your ground,
09:00but it was always at the end of the interview
09:02you were the most respectful.
09:03Like, no matter, you are awful, you are getting hammered on occasions.
09:07You're like, really appreciate that, I'll take that on board.
09:09Like, thank you very much.
09:10And you almost would bow to them and, like,
09:12your respect shown shows a lot about your character as an individual.
09:16And part of this investment process is about identifying
09:18the right person to invest in.
09:20And it's an opportunity for you to show everyone,
09:22which you clearly have done, what it's about.
09:25Harriet, how did you find Lawrence's interview experience?
09:28I thought you did very well.
09:30And I noticed in the series you really knew when to admit you were wrong.
09:35And I think that's a very valuable skill
09:37that you can take into all throughout your business.
09:40Same thing with the interviews.
09:41You were amazing at the humble element.
09:44And honestly, to me, as a person that doesn't run a business,
09:48that seems really important for business.
09:50I'm sure that, like, in those rooms where you can accept,
09:53hey, I'm wrong, or hey, this isn't right,
09:55or, OK, I accept your sort of feedback,
09:58that to me was another level of professionalism that I saw from you.
10:02I also liked watching you, Lawrence, I'm not going to lie.
10:04Oh, thank you.
10:04You feeding the goats and mucking them out
10:06was one of my favourite moments in the entire series.
10:09I did just want to have fun.
10:11Like, it's such a unique experience getting to do this.
10:14Like, when would you ever be going to Hong Kong
10:16and then cleaning goat poo the next week
10:18or, you know, selling in a market?
10:20Like, it's such a unique experience.
10:22You get to just enjoy it.
10:23Like, and I really did as much as I could.
10:25Just I really wanted to enjoy it.
10:26And I think you could tell
10:27that you were enjoying the entire process.
10:29There was an emotional moment
10:31when you spoke about doing it for your family and for your wife.
10:34How much have they enjoyed watching you doing the whole thing?
10:37So, I mean, they've just absolutely loved it.
10:40My wife wanted me to do the show.
10:42That's the only reason I did it.
10:43You know, for my parents, you know,
10:45my dad, some Yiddish for you, the big gunser macher.
10:47He's the big guy around town.
10:48Everyone wants to talk to him.
10:49He's loving it.
10:50My wife is so proud.
10:51And I'm so, I'm just so grateful for her support.
10:55And I wouldn't have been here
10:55or be the person that I am without her love and support.
10:58And I'm so, like, I'm so grateful
11:00for the opportunity to make her proud.
11:02And that it's about building stuff for us for the future.
11:04And that's really what this was all about for me.
11:06And, I mean, the really last thing I say
11:08is that, like, I just want to pay a moment
11:09to, like, my father-in-law passed away
11:11during watching it whilst back.
11:13And I'm so grateful that I've got to do him proud,
11:16my family proud, my wife proud.
11:18It just, it does.
11:18And that's why I was crying at the end of episode 10
11:20is for my family.
11:22And I'm very grateful for that.
11:23Well done.
11:24And, I mean, you made it all the way to week 11.
11:27That is no mean feat.
11:29Looking back, were there standout moments
11:32that you think, oh, I'll remember that forever?
11:33I mean, obviously, selling in the market
11:36is, like, absolutely different gravy.
11:38Like, that was for the chicken and egg task.
11:40I just was like, I'm just going to go out there
11:42and have fun.
11:42Like, I just want to enjoy it.
11:44And I didn't want to just be a passenger.
11:46I really wanted to, I was like,
11:48I'll do stuff every week.
11:49And if I get fired for being myself, whatever.
11:51You got stuck in.
11:52Exactly.
11:52And then if you get fired for being quiet
11:55or something like that, I was like,
11:56I'm not like that.
11:56I'd regret it forever.
11:58And then, obviously, in the Isle of Wight,
12:00the big lads stay out.
12:02Unbelievable.
12:02I'm sorry, Connor was right.
12:04It was a big lads stay out.
12:05Like, he was spot on with all of that.
12:06Like, and obviously the people.
12:08Like, such a great time with the people.
12:10But, yeah, goats and selling in the market
12:13is just always going to be a memory.
12:14Well, I hope you got to keep the cap.
12:17No, I didn't.
12:19Everyone always says, do we keep the props?
12:21I had to buy a sunflower hat off Amazon
12:23for, like, eight quid.
12:24Rage.
12:25I know.
12:25Like, worth every penny.
12:26Lawrence, you've been absolutely brilliant.
12:28Thank you so much for everything.
12:29And best of luck with everything.
12:31Lawrence, everybody.
12:33Thank you, lovely.
12:34It is time to welcome our next candidate
12:37who fell just short of the final hurdle
12:39but certainly found his business feat
12:41during the process.
12:42Let's relive the moment Dan
12:44let his creativity...
12:48Could we do something that looks something like this?
12:51It goes from large to small and large again.
12:53Mm-hmm.
12:54Something like this shape?
12:55Yeah.
12:55I'm trying to not just think about one product.
12:57I'm trying to think of, like, a whole brand name and conception.
13:00I'd like to see it with maybe two bold lines
13:02underneath the actual lettering.
13:05Ah, yeah.
13:06And then I'd like to start playing around with some colours,
13:08if that's okay.
13:08Maybe like a racing green.
13:11And if I could just duplicate that whole thing
13:12because I want to switch it around.
13:13I just want to see some ideas come to life.
13:17He's come to life.
13:18It's Dan, everyone.
13:20Woo!
13:22Welcome.
13:23I mean, I think that's what they call being in flow.
13:26Yeah, absolutely.
13:27It's like in the zone.
13:28It looked like you thoroughly enjoyed that.
13:30Was it working solo?
13:31You didn't have to, you know, navigate anybody else?
13:34You were...
13:35Yeah, I think...
13:35High on the prize.
13:36I think being on my own
13:37and doing what I do day in, day out, you know,
13:40and not having any distractions and other people's input,
13:42it was just quite nice for me just to focus
13:44and do the best for my team
13:45to have hopefully secured us our win.
13:49Let's chat week 11.
13:50How was it watching the interviews back?
13:53Do you know, I was really happy with them.
13:55You know, I think I've come a long way in the process
13:58and I had some fantastic feedback.
14:00I mean, every single interview that I had,
14:02I came out with a big smile on my face.
14:04I took on a lot of really great feedback.
14:05I've been in the industry.
14:06I've been engrossed in my business since 17.
14:09So, you know, I felt as prepared as I could be going into them.
14:14Yeah.
14:14What was fascinating in your interviews,
14:16really fascinating, Dan,
14:17is you were utterly composed with, as you say,
14:20you know your business.
14:21But it's the first time I've ever seen someone
14:24really ask lots of questions back.
14:26You ask questions back in one interview.
14:28In another interview,
14:29you almost had Claude pitching Lord Sugar to you.
14:32It's a really weird role reverse moment
14:34that I don't think has ever been seen on this process before.
14:37And that just shows,
14:39A, you know your stuff, but you're inquisitive.
14:41You wanted to understand the value it brought to you
14:43because your business is really important to you.
14:45So I've got to say, hats off to you.
14:47I've never seen that happen before.
14:48Well, thank you very much.
14:49And I was, you know, I was in two minds
14:51because, you know, it was a big thing
14:54giving up half of my existing business
14:55and I really didn't know what to do.
14:57What you were presenting,
14:58the business you were presenting to Lord Sugar,
15:01he wanted then to take 50% of the existing business,
15:05which was kind of a feeder business,
15:06but not really on the table for discussion
15:08from your perspective.
15:10Do you think you made the right decision?
15:14I think in that moment in time, I probably did.
15:18Now that I'm looking back upon it,
15:20you know, I am still open to investment.
15:21I'm still open to being mentored.
15:22And I think for me, it was never really about the money.
15:25It was about getting the mentorship
15:26and the guidance to help me really take my business
15:28to the next level that I know it can go to.
15:31You know, over the past 10 years,
15:33I've built such a great name and brand for myself
15:35in the space and, you know, the clients we work with,
15:37they really respect our brand,
15:39which is halfway there.
15:41Harriet, do you think he made the right call?
15:43Or should he have gone with Lord Sugar?
15:46Or the potential, at least?
15:48I've got to tell you,
15:48I think you did make the right decision.
15:50I, before I knew the outcome,
15:53I said out loud, I said it out loud,
15:55so it means something.
15:56It destroyed, still true.
15:57Yeah.
15:58That I thought that you made the absolute right decision
16:00because to me, that was a business
16:02that you weren't coming in to sell
16:03and you'd already created that
16:05and that was a different thing.
16:06But that is probably why I'm not in business.
16:09Yeah.
16:10Because I don't really know.
16:11But my heart said,
16:13Dan, you slayed the house down boots
16:15and you made the right decision.
16:16Oh, thank you.
16:17And, you know, since being on the show,
16:19we have now merged young professionals apprenticeships
16:21and young professionals graduates into one,
16:23so we are now growing it as one big business.
16:25Okay.
16:26And I think, in hindsight,
16:27it probably made a lot of sense to do that.
16:29And it's a pipeline, Theo, right?
16:31You're putting the funnel at the front
16:32as they start their career,
16:33as they come through,
16:33it goes into your next business.
16:34You can flow it all through
16:35and actually connect your consultants
16:37across both businesses
16:37without too lots of cost matters.
16:39So it is the best logical decision
16:41and I'm glad that's the pathway you're taking there.
16:43Yeah, yeah.
16:43And you saved on consultancy fees.
16:45Yeah.
16:46You know?
16:46Yeah.
16:47I imagine some consultant
16:49would have charged you a lot of money
16:50to tell you that.
16:51Very true.
16:52You know what I mean?
16:52Got a freebie, didn't you?
16:53That was probably 100 grand
16:54worth of consultancy advice
16:55you got in those interviews.
16:57Yeah, there you go.
16:57And, you know,
16:57I've taken a lot away
16:58from being in the process, yeah.
17:00And I think we saw that growth
17:02actually quite clearly, you know,
17:04that kind of you were hung
17:06at the back a little bit
17:07to begin with
17:07and you have spoken
17:08and been quite open
17:09about how being autistic
17:10and dyslexic
17:11affected your time
17:13and the process.
17:14Do you think that was
17:14particularly challenging
17:16when dealing with
17:17a big group of people?
17:19Yeah, hugely, hugely challenging
17:20and it's something
17:21I've had to cope with
17:22pretty much all of my life,
17:23you know, with Asperger's
17:24being put into
17:25very new surroundings
17:26and situations
17:27and especially with
17:2819 other very big characters,
17:32you know,
17:32it took a lot for me to process
17:33and I'm someone
17:35that quite likes structure
17:36and knows what I'm doing
17:36and a lot of the time
17:38you never really know
17:39what was happening.
17:40So it did take me
17:41a little while
17:41to get used to the surroundings
17:43that I was in,
17:44used to the candidates
17:45that I was on task with.
17:46But, you know,
17:47I slowly came through
17:48and, you know, settled in
17:50and I think also
17:51with my dyslexia
17:52it takes me quite a long time
17:54to process information,
17:55you know, reading things
17:57which you don't always have
17:58in this process either.
18:00So I think,
18:00I think I coped okay.
18:02It's more for the other
18:03candidates at the front
18:04and that didn't listen
18:05to the value
18:05that you brought to the table
18:06because we could all watch it
18:08and we're like,
18:08this guy is right.
18:10Listen to Dan.
18:11I also do think that
18:13I'm really glad
18:14that you brought up
18:14your Asperger's
18:15because to me
18:15it was one of your
18:16shining qualities,
18:17the way you approach things
18:18and your demeanour
18:19and the way in which
18:20you go into business.
18:21I think it's in some ways
18:22even though it's extremely
18:23difficult to live with
18:25in certain areas,
18:26it's also a real quality
18:28to have in business
18:29and that's part of why
18:31I fell in love with you
18:31a bit on the show
18:32because I thought you
18:33came across brilliantly,
18:34you're so fair,
18:35the way you approach things
18:36is so calm and collected
18:38and sort of direct.
18:40It just really,
18:41it was brilliant.
18:42I think you did really well.
18:43I loved every moment of it,
18:44being able just to,
18:45you know,
18:45switch off
18:46and really focus on
18:47being in the process,
18:49you know,
18:49travelling,
18:50meeting lots of different people
18:51and just throwing myself
18:52into each task as I could.
18:54I think you have,
18:54you know,
18:55three fans here.
18:56It's Dan, everybody.
18:57Best of luck.
18:58Everything.
19:00It is time to welcome
19:01fired candidate Priesh
19:02who was left both shaken
19:03and stirred in the interviews,
19:05I think it's fair to say.
19:06Let's hope his cocktails
19:07are a little bit better
19:08than his curries.
19:09Here is him
19:10in one of his spicier moments.
19:12I'm actually going to
19:13adjust the recipe slightly now.
19:16You think that's a good idea?
19:17I'm just adding
19:18random stuff to the meat.
19:20Just adding the random
19:21different bubbles
19:22for this thing.
19:24Cumin, paprika,
19:25black pepper.
19:26Do you want to add
19:26a bay leaf to the rice
19:27to add flavour?
19:28My mom adds it anyway
19:29to cooking.
19:30We don't need these
19:31knobs of butter
19:31so I'm using this
19:32extra butter in my curry.
19:34There we go.
19:35Karishma,
19:36this sauce,
19:37is this for my curry
19:38or for your rice?
19:38I don't get it
19:39because it doesn't say
19:40in here to add
19:40but I'm just going to add it.
19:42It's Priyash, everyone.
19:44Hello.
19:45Hi there.
19:46Lovely to meet you guys.
19:47Honestly,
19:48what didn't you put
19:49in that curry?
19:51Well,
19:52I'm Asian
19:53so we just
19:54whack whatever
19:54we feel is fit.
19:56Whatever's in the cupboard
19:57we just whack it in.
19:58I think it's
19:58a beautiful approach.
19:59Artistic even.
20:00Exactly.
20:01I mean,
20:01who needs recipes?
20:02Exactly.
20:04I mean,
20:04the parsley
20:04was a big ingredient.
20:06Truly though,
20:07I was devastated
20:08for you
20:08when that parsley
20:09fell in the bin
20:10I was like,
20:10I'm panicked.
20:11It didn't fall
20:12in the bin.
20:13Levi put it
20:14in the bin.
20:14I was trying to be nice.
20:15I was trying to be nice.
20:16Chop up the stalks,
20:17put that in the bin,
20:18keep the rest of the top
20:19or the rest of the,
20:20like,
20:20whatever it was for,
20:21the salads
20:21and whatever.
20:22You would think.
20:22You would think.
20:23Here we are.
20:24As well as chefing,
20:26you were a mixologist.
20:27Yeah.
20:28Honestly,
20:28what went through your head
20:29when Mike said,
20:30hit me with a Paloma?
20:33Yeah.
20:33Do you know what?
20:34Obviously,
20:34I know what goes
20:34in a Paloma.
20:35It's tequila,
20:36grapefruit juice
20:37and all that sort of stuff.
20:39But obviously,
20:39And all that sort of stuff.
20:40And all that sort of stuff.
20:41Bit of curry powder,
20:42little bay leaf in there.
20:44Yeah, exactly.
20:45Well,
20:45I like to add a bit of
20:47flair to the cocktails,
20:48a bit of twist.
20:49Yeah.
20:49Who wants a boring cocktail?
20:50And I got like
20:51the main stuff right
20:51and he did like it
20:52at the end.
20:53You didn't though.
20:53You did put Cointreau
20:54into it.
20:55But the main stuff,
20:56there was tequila in it.
20:57It was tequila.
20:58Tequila and grapefruit,
20:59which is the two main ingredients.
21:00Babe,
21:00I was a cocktail waitress
21:0115 years ago
21:02and I know what goes
21:03into a Paloma.
21:04I would say
21:05that was the only thing
21:06I was like,
21:06boy,
21:07you know what goes
21:07into a Paloma.
21:08You're just panicking
21:08and that's when I knew
21:09it must have been horrible
21:10in that room
21:12because the fact that
21:13that was the chill cocktail.
21:15Yeah,
21:15no,
21:15I mean,
21:16to be fair,
21:16it was just,
21:17you have obviously
21:17you've got the cameras,
21:18you've got him staring at you,
21:20like the desk of him
21:20making it there
21:21and then he brings out
21:22the Charlie.
21:23When Mike came
21:24with the Charlie,
21:25I thought,
21:26oh,
21:26I thought he was going
21:27to make you make
21:28something really hard.
21:29Like,
21:30I thought he was going
21:30to give you a cocktail
21:31that like no one knows
21:32the ingredients.
21:33or some sort of.
21:33Like,
21:34I wouldn't know
21:34what was in that
21:35but I feel like
21:35every single person
21:36on the earth
21:37drinks a Paloma.
21:37But I think it's just
21:38because you know
21:38what Paloma is.
21:39Just to be clear,
21:40I would have no idea
21:41what was in it.
21:42When he asked that question,
21:43I went,
21:43there must be thousands
21:44of cocktails.
21:45How on earth
21:45is he going to know
21:46this without the little recipe book?
21:47Yeah,
21:47Paloma's very London.
21:48Yeah,
21:52thinking and you're
21:53just under that pressure.
21:54And then obviously
21:55I had Linda as well
21:56at the beginning.
21:57let's talk about that
21:58because she was
21:59the first one up.
22:00So did that sort of
22:01set the tone for you?
22:03I think so
22:03because obviously
22:05people don't realise
22:06how tough these interviews are.
22:07It's not going to a job
22:08interview where you can
22:09prepare for what's going
22:10to come up.
22:11It's not like a job description.
22:12Obviously,
22:12it's a business plan
22:13and obviously I knew
22:14it was in the business plan
22:15but then the questions
22:16they ask
22:17and the thing is
22:17they're just so in front of you
22:19as well as if it's like
22:20got a bit of distance.
22:21So it's like proximity
22:22more than anything.
22:22It's like a lion
22:23breathing into your face.
22:26You gave them a look
22:27every time
22:28when they're about to speak.
22:28You had these eyes,
22:30these puppy dog eyes
22:30looking like,
22:31come on,
22:31what nice are you going to say?
22:32Like you're really goading them
22:34to come to you
22:34with something nice.
22:35And I thought they would say
22:35at least one nice thing.
22:36No.
22:38Even Claudine
22:38didn't say one nice thing.
22:40I was just like,
22:40do you know what?
22:41Just get me out of here.
22:41But they said you were
22:42a lovely effervescent guy.
22:45Maybe not your face.
22:48I think starting with Linda
22:50is fairly...
22:52It's very hard
22:53to come back from that.
22:54Yeah.
22:54Like everyone else
22:55had a different one
22:55to start off with.
22:56So for me it was just,
22:57oh.
22:58They did say,
22:59however,
22:59that your business plan
23:00was a little less developed.
23:02I think the business plan
23:03was there
23:04but I just don't think
23:04they saw it as like,
23:05oh,
23:06it's going to go anywhere.
23:07Okay.
23:07So that's what I think
23:08their rationale behind it was
23:09which was fair enough.
23:10Or the confusion
23:11between the bars
23:12and the products.
23:12Yeah, exactly.
23:13They probably thought
23:13it was two separate businesses
23:14but then I was thinking
23:15I was entering
23:16both the retail world
23:17and, you know,
23:18the corporate world
23:19and the events industry.
23:20So it was entering,
23:21you know,
23:21two different industries
23:22and then you get,
23:23you know,
23:23money in two different ways.
23:25The advice,
23:26which felt a bit brutal
23:27even watching,
23:29was to stick out your day job.
23:31Yeah.
23:32How did that work out?
23:34Well,
23:34they're completely wrong.
23:36Literally.
23:38I didn't listen to any of them.
23:40I didn't listen to one of them
23:41because I'm actually opening up
23:42my own bar,
23:43my own restaurant.
23:44Are you doing curries?
23:45Please tell me you're doing curries.
23:46Yes, I'm doing curries.
23:47With parsley.
23:48Exactly.
23:49That's going to be
23:49my famous curry on there.
23:50I'm really excited to try it
23:52because I don't think
23:52it would have been
23:52too spicy for me.
23:53Do you know what?
23:54Funny you say that.
23:55Tim actually liked it.
23:56Tim said it was fine
23:57for him as well.
23:58We can handle the spice
23:59whereas I wasn't thinking
24:00about the guests.
24:01I was just thinking
24:02what I would like for dinner.
24:03Some of the girlies
24:04couldn't quite handle the spice.
24:06Will you say that your passion
24:08is making people smile?
24:09Were there moments?
24:10I mean,
24:10it felt like you just
24:12loved the entire process.
24:14What sticks out?
24:15Oh, do you know what?
24:15I thought the process
24:16was incredible.
24:17Like, I made lifelong friends
24:19and even just to learn,
24:20like, you learn a lot
24:21about yourself.
24:22Like, even like,
24:22I've realised from,
24:23you know,
24:23especially in Boardroom 2
24:24when I got called back in
24:25thinking I was safe
24:26and then I realised
24:28you need to stick up
24:28for yourself
24:29and obviously got that
24:29second chance to remain
24:30and then look where I am now
24:32in terms of, you know,
24:32got to the final five
24:33but, like,
24:34it's, you know,
24:34you learn a lot.
24:35It was just such a great experience.
24:37I really want to go back again.
24:38Oh, well, you can't.
24:39I'm sorry.
24:39But you embraced it
24:41with such enthusiasm
24:42and it's such a gorgeous quality,
24:44actually.
24:44It really is.
24:44And you didn't win
24:45so maybe you are allowed next year.
24:46Yeah, exactly.
24:47Maybe you can take their ideas
24:48now into practice.
24:49Exactly.
24:50Lord Sugar said
24:51that you're, like,
24:53a lucky charm
24:53which, again,
24:55he was like,
24:55you made it to the final five.
24:57Like, how is,
24:58what, what?
24:59Well, to be fair,
25:00my advice was
25:01be to Lord Sugar's.
25:02It's your show.
25:02You could have fired me
25:03at any point.
25:04You could have got rid of me
25:05at any point.
25:06It's his show.
25:07He can make the rules.
25:07He could have got rid of me
25:08as week seven we gave.
25:09But obviously,
25:10he liked me
25:11and obviously he just said that.
25:12But yeah,
25:12he could have got rid of me
25:13at any point.
25:13So, fair play.
25:14Well, you know what?
25:15We're really glad
25:16that he didn't.
25:17You're an absolute joy.
25:19Thank you so much
25:19and best of luck.
25:20Thank you so much
25:21for having me.
25:23We move on.
25:24Yeah.
25:24The final task.
25:26Task 12.
25:27The final showdown,
25:28let's call it.
25:29Karishma and Pasha,
25:30they're going to go
25:30head to head
25:31and of course,
25:32I've got an exclusive clip
25:33yet to give us
25:34a sneak peek
25:34of all of the action
25:36and some familiar faces
25:38back to help our girls
25:40secure Lord Sugar's
25:41£250,000 investment.
25:43You choose
25:45your first assistant.
25:47Megan.
25:52Karishma.
25:54Rothner.
25:57I miss you.
25:59Kieran.
26:03Carrington.
26:06Hey girl.
26:07Levi.
26:10Well done.
26:12Lawrence.
26:15My brother.
26:18Pray, pray.
26:22And best to a last,
26:23Vanessa.
26:26I miss you.
26:29Pray, pray.
26:30Pray, pray.
26:31There you go.
26:32Harriet,
26:32how much are you
26:33looking forward
26:33to seeing Pasha
26:34and Karishma
26:35go head to head?
26:36Fight it out
26:37for the cash.
26:37Do you know what?
26:38I think they both
26:39deserve it
26:39in such different ways
26:41which is why
26:41I'm so excited
26:42to see them
26:42go up against each other.
26:43Also,
26:43they've worked well together
26:45so I think
26:46it'll be interesting
26:47to see them go
26:47singularly head to head.
26:49I think there's
26:49a lovely mutual respect
26:50there actually
26:51that's been grown
26:52over the number of weeks.
26:54I agree.
26:55Yeah.
26:56Ricky,
26:56you returned
26:58for this year's final.
27:00Any surprises?
27:02I probably shouldn't say
27:03maybe.
27:04Go on.
27:05Look,
27:05we've got
27:06no surprise
27:07that we've got
27:08some outstanding candidates
27:09right now
27:09pitching their life out
27:11and doing a stellar job
27:12doing that
27:13so there's no surprise
27:14from that perspective.
27:15Yeah.
27:15Yeah.
27:16That's the end
27:16of the show, gang.
27:18Thank you so, so much
27:19to all of our fired candidates
27:20to Lawrence,
27:20to Dan,
27:21to Pripy,
27:22Priesh
27:22and of course
27:23to Ricky and Harriet.
27:24Thank you, gang.
27:26If you think you have
27:27what it takes
27:28to survive
27:28those gruelling interviews
27:29then applications
27:30to be Lord Sugar's
27:31next business partner
27:32are now open.
27:33For more details
