This one has “romantic drama” on the label, but it mostly runs on awkward consequences and small-town weirdness. Ranjan from Banaras thinks he’s got everything figured out. He lands a government job, he’s supposed to marry Titli, and then he forgets a vow he made to Lord Shiva. Not a subtle mistake either. The movie then traps him until he finally fulfills the promise.

So yes, it’s love, fate, and the kind of redemption that arrives with a bureaucratic headache. The setup is simple, the execution leans comedic, and the emotions come in bursts between getting stuck and trying to do the right thing. If you like romance with a wink and don’t mind that the plot is basically one long “oops,” Bhool Chuk Maaf is your kind of messy.

Ranjan aus Banaras will eigentlich nur seinen Job im Amt ergattern, damit er Titli heiraten kann. Problem: Er hat seinem eigenen Kopf geglaubt. Kurz vergessen. Und zack. Die Geschichte dreht sich nicht um große Gesten, sondern um diese herrlich unpraktischen Konsequenzen, wenn man sein Versprechen an Lord Shiva nicht ernst nimmt.

Es ist kein Drama mit Pathos, eher eine Mischung aus Schicksals-Comedy und romantischem Chaos. Wer leichte, schräge Unterhaltung sucht, bekommt genau das. Wer auf Tiefgang hofft, könnte nach der Hälfte merken: Das ist mehr Situationswitz als große Emotion.
