00:12Shafi Abdullah said Thomas had acknowledged in a statement recorded in court that there was no evidence linking Najib to the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Sharibu.
00:23Shafi added that Najib was never interested in monetary compensation but had wanted to protect his reputation following years of rumors linking him to the murder.
00:33He said that for many years Najib had been upset because there was no evidence yet rumors continued to link him to the murder.
00:41Earlier today, Najib, Thomas and publisher GB Gerat Budaya Enterprise Syndrome Berhad reached an amicable settlement over part of the contents of Thomas' memoir My Story Justice in the Wilderness published in early 2021.
00:56Najib had sued Thomas and Gerat Budaya over allegedly defamatory statements in Chapter 42 of Thomas' book titled Altantuya.
