And then Nightbitch does the rude thing and refuses to treat domestic life like some cozy endgame. The house doesn’t stay a house for long. It turns into a stage where routines feel like tests, and the line between “normal parenting” and “something’s off” gets pretty thin. The film leans into surreal discomfort, not big explanations. There’s dry humor, but it’s the kind that shows up right before the unease hits harder. It’s not chasing comfort or clarity. It’s asking what happens when the role you’re expected to play starts rewriting you. Ratings are mixed for a reason. Worth a watch if you like your bedtime stories with teeth.

Wir kennen das Drehbuch-Märchen: Frau opfert Karriere, um „für die Familie da zu sein“. Nur dass „Nightbitch“ diese Idee nicht nett einwickelt, sondern stramm dagegentritt. Nach einer Weile als Stay-at-Home-Mom kippt das Alltags-Set aus Küchentuch und Trockenmilch in etwas anderes. Plötzlich wirken Rituale wie Versteckspiel. Blickwinkel wie Paranoia. Und die Frage, wer hier eigentlich wen erzieht, wird unangenehm konkret. Der Humor ist trocken, das Ganze nicht. Mehr „Was stimmt hier nicht?“ als „Alles wird gut“. Wenn du Filme magst, die häusliche Normalität mit kleinen Albträumen anreichern, bist du im Ziel. Wenn nicht, dann vielleicht besser zwei Snacks bereithalten.
