A family moves into a new suburban house. Great. Everything else immediately falls apart anyway. Mom and Dad are orbiting a divorce. Their teen daughter is still dealing with the death of a close friend after an overdose. And on top of that, the house starts feeling occupied in a way that is not subtle. Presence is basically dread as a group project: the more they try to carry on, the more it becomes clear they are not alone. Not “boo, got you” alone. More like being watched while you pretend everything is fine. It’s tense, personal, and annoyingly effective for a horror premise that could have gone for jump scares and chose discomfort instead. ---------- Neue Vorstadtadresse, neue Sorgen. Eine Familie zieht um, und natürlich kommt alles gleichzeitig: Die Eltern sind mitten in der Scheidung, die Teenager-Tochter versucht, den Tod einer engen Freundin nach einer Überdosis zu verarbeiten. Und dann ist da dieses Gefühl, dass das Haus nicht nur Häusergeräusche macht. Es beobachtet. Nicht im coolen Spuk-Kino-Sinne, eher wie diese Person, die zu lange an der Tür steht und so tut, als wäre das normal. Presence setzt auf klaustrophobische Nähe und schiebt dir das Unheimliche Stück für Stück unter die Haut. Der Geist ist kein Dekor. Er ist ein Störsender für jedes Familiengespräch.
