Belinda’s newly pregnant. That’s the setup. The problem is her mother-in-law moves in, and the house suddenly feels like it has a pulse, just not a friendly one. Instead of wholesome family tension, you get a creeping, uncomfortable takeover where everything Belinda thought she could control starts slipping. The story turns into a battle over the unborn, with the “visitor” acting like the kind of guest who never reads the room. At a certain point, she can’t just keep smiling and hoping it passes. She has to draw a line. “The Front Room” is basically domestic dread with supernatural teeth. The Rotten Tomatoes score is middling for a reason, but the movie still has that nasty momentum that keeps you watching, even when you’re thinking, okay, yes, this is getting ridiculous.

Belinda ist frisch schwanger, ihr Leben läuft eigentlich ganz okay, bis die Schwiegermutter einfach einzieht. Nicht als nette Großfamilien-Überraschung, sondern als Dauerbaustelle in Menschengestalt. Kaum ist sie da, wird das Zuhause zur Frontlinie, denn irgendwas stimmt mit dem “Gast” nicht. Was danach passiert, ist weniger Küchenpsychologie und mehr Horror, bei dem man jedes Geräusch ernst nimmt, weil man sich nie sicher ist, wer als Nächstes die Kontrolle verliert. Belinda muss irgendwann entscheiden, wie viel sie erträgt. Und ja, es wird auch ziemlich direkt. “The Front Room” ist dieser schmierige Mischung aus häuslichem Stress und Übernatürlichem. Nervig? Absolut. Spannend genug, dass man dran bleibt? Leider auch.
