00:00The clock is ticking toward President Trump's deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz,
00:04or, well, I'll let the president tell you.
00:07After that, they're going to have no bridges, they're going to have no power plants,
00:13Stone Ages.
00:15The Post's Emily Gooden was in the room for President Trump's Monday press conference,
00:18and I asked her about the status of negotiations and what else the president had to say about that
00:23rapidly approaching deadline.
00:25Well, President Trump has warned Iran that if they don't meet his deadline,
00:29he will bomb them back to the Stone Ages.
00:31And he was very specific in his press conference at the White House talking about destroying bridges
00:37and their energy sector and basically everything that you need to run a civilization.
00:44He was very unhappy at the press conference.
00:47He's been frustrated with the slow pace of the negotiations.
00:51His chief negotiator, Steve Witkoff, was actually in the room during all of this,
00:55was seated at the sidelines and then left with the president, presumably to go back to the Oval Office.
01:00So the president wants this wrapped up. He's been pretty clear about that.
01:04The president also gave new details about the dramatic recovery of the airmen who ejected from
01:08his fighter jet in hostile Iranian territory and hid out in a small cave waiting for rescue,
01:13including how he was badly injured, bleeding profusely, and how, when he was able to communicate with
01:18rescuers, his first words were, God is good. Here's Emily with more.
01:23It was a very dramatic rescue of this colonel who has the great nickname of Dude 44, as was repeated
01:32many times yesterday. But he was hiding in Iran and it took a group of CIA operatives,
01:39military specialists, and just a lot of people to bring him home safely. It was a success story.
01:44It took a lot of hard work. The president said that the airman was injured, but is doing okay.
01:50He told us at the Easter Egg Roll that he has spoken to the airmen. He indicated that the
01:55airmen's families were actually at the Easter Egg Roll and then he was going to go talk to them.
02:00So a very happy end to this story, which was a very stressful 48 hours for everyone involved.
02:07President Trump's key ally, former White House strategist Steve Bannon,
02:11spent several months in jail back in 2024 after being convicted of defying congressional subpoena
02:16demands two years prior. But the Department of Justice may soon toss his case as a symbolic gesture
02:22now that the Supreme Court has potentially cleared the way for them to do it. The nation's highest court
02:26agreed on Monday to vacate an appeals court ruling that upheld Bannon's conviction, kicking the case back
02:32down to a district judge in Washington, D.C. This move frees the judge to rule on the Trump
02:37administration's pending request to dismiss the case, quote, in the interests of justice.
02:42Bannon was originally convicted for failing to adhere to subpoenas demanding testimony and documents
02:46related to the House Select January 6 committee's investigation. That committee is now defunct.
02:52Bannon's legal team says he wasn't ignoring the subpoena, but was following his attorney's advice
02:57against complying with it until a court ruled on Trump's claims of executive privilege.
03:02Now, this story is unbelievable. Just hours after Savannah Guthrie returned to the Today Show anchor
03:08desk, a ransom note was sent to TMZ claiming to know the location of her mother's body and the
03:14person responsible for her kidnapping. TMZ boss Harvey Levin shared some details on Monday.
03:19We got another letter today from this person, an email saying,
03:24I know where her body is and who the kidnapper is. Give me half a Bitcoin and I'll tell you.
03:32And this person has been really persistent. TMZ says that they sent the latest letter to the FBI,
03:37but Levin and his colleagues went on to debate whether or not this and
03:40many of the others that they were sent could be a scam.
03:44My spidey senses tell me that there's something about this guy because one of the emails he sent said
03:51early on time is of the essence to do this. And then the next day he said time is no
03:57longer of
03:58the essence. If he was pulling a scam, why would you say time is no longer of the essence?
04:03Nancy Guthrie has been missing since being taken from her home in the middle of the night on February 1st.
