00:00Can we get you some mock draft Monday?
00:02What do you think?
00:02You guys want to go over here to TommyYarshDallasCowboys.com?
00:05Oh, yeah.
00:06See what the latest mockers are throwing out here for your Cowboys.
00:10How about we go to ESPN Field Yates doing Reuben Bain Jr. and Zion Young.
00:14I think we talked about that one last week, actually.
00:18Let's jump to Bruce Feldman.
00:20He's going to do that trade with Arizona that Todd McShay was talking about.
00:25Was that Friday or over the weekend?
00:28It was over the weekend, yeah.
00:29Yeah, we're going up to three with Arizona and taking David Bailey.
00:35Guys, I kind of love it because I think Bailey is the edge rusher
00:39that has the best chance of success in the NFL.
00:42Would you agree with that or disagree with that?
00:45I mean, with Reese, you're like, can he bend?
00:47Is he going to transition?
00:49Right.
00:49Bailey, you've seen him do it.
00:50With Bain, you're like, well, maybe the short arms could complicate things.
00:53Maybe his ceiling will be 10 sacks instead of 20 sacks.
00:56I don't know.
00:57We'll find out.
00:58But with Bailey, I think he's got it all.
01:00Yeah, he does.
01:00I mean, in terms of what they're lacking with the speed rusher, I mean, his ability,
01:04the angles that he takes to the quarterback, there's no wasted steps.
01:07He's been productive at Stanford and Texas Tech.
01:09The college football playoff game against Oregon, even though Tech struggled,
01:13he was still brilliant in that game.
01:15It was really their offense.
01:16Their defense still played pretty well to keep them alive if their offense could score
01:19any points.
01:20But I'd be totally in on moving up for Bailey.
01:23I mean, he was like a team leader, wasn't he, David Bailey?
01:25He was an early graduate guy.
01:29Stanford.
01:29Transferred from Stanford, yeah.
01:32But your number one edge is Bain.
01:35You like Bain better?
01:36I like Bain, yep.
01:37Okay.
01:38At 20, they go with Denzel Boston.
01:40That's Bruce Feldman.
01:42Denzel Boston, the wide receiver from Washington at 20.
01:44That would be a head-scratcher type of pick, wouldn't it?
01:46What are we doing sniffing around for a wide receiver?
01:49It would be.
01:49I mean, I like Denzel Boston a lot.
01:51I just don't know for the Cowboys if that one makes a ton of sense.
01:54I think that would just be you're not planning on keeping George Pickens past this year.
01:57So that's a player that they liked a lot, and we're going to go ahead and get ahead of it
02:00with a contingency plan in place now.
02:02Matt Miller, ESPN, is going to give you Jermon McCoy, cornerback Tennessee.
02:08I just don't know how there's been so much work done around the idea of Jermon McCoy
02:13going to the Cowboys at 12 and so many different times.
02:17It's kind of been shot down that mock drafters are still throwing them out there.
02:21But, hey, I guess there's levels to it.
02:25There's levels to your insights.
02:27Well, the thing, we're shooting it down on our end because we're kind of hearing from people
02:34within the organization.
02:36If, in fact, they're just trying to make a diversion, cool.
02:40I think he's one of the best players in the draft.
02:43I think he's one of the best corners in the draft.
02:44You think diversion's possible here?
02:46You know, you never know.
02:47But when you've heard it from two different people, I heard it three weeks ago.
02:52Zach is starting to hear it now a little bit more himself.
02:55And I don't know if people are doubling down.
02:58If they took McCoy, I'd be super happy about that.
03:01I'd be super happy.
03:02Oh, me too, yeah.
03:03But they're starting to, if they potentially are eliminating guys like Bain
03:07and eliminating McCoy, what defensive players are you looking at?
03:11Especially if you're going to stand there and pick a player at 12.
03:14So that's why I kind of feel like I'm hopeful that maybe it is a diversion.
03:19But, man, it seems pretty strong the way that people are talking about it now.
03:25Yeah, very credible reports.
03:27And it is smokescreen season, so obviously you can be getting great information.
03:30But the entire goal is to, you know, use that information to adjust the market.
03:36So what?
03:36Nobody feels like they're going to trade up in front of you to take your guy?
03:39That's what you're trying to play against?
03:41Yeah, that's what I worry about, really.
03:42I really do worry about that at 11 with the Dolphins.
03:46I feel like Jermon McCoy might end up being the best player in the draft.
03:52I wouldn't doubt what you're saying right there.
03:55I think his film is incredible.
03:57Like all these guys could go second overall.
03:59Sure.
03:59You know, depending on who has the pick and what their needs are.
04:03There's just, you know, about a dozen or so of these guys.
04:07And I think Jermon McCoy belongs in the conversation.
04:09So if you've got a chance to take him at 12, I would hope the Cowboys would step in there
04:14and do it.
04:14But I think if you're really paying attention to what everybody's saying,
04:17and some of these names are big, you should at least have a note about that in your write-up
04:23after you have selected him to the Cowboys.
04:26The other pick was Emmanuel McNeil-Warren coming in there for Matt Miller ESPN.
04:31And that's a guy who I like watching play.
04:34I think he could be a turnover player.
04:36You know, I like how he seems to focus on that ball as it's coming in and be able to,
04:42like, kind of high point the ball while he's running with the player.
04:46I think there's a lot of things to like about Emmanuel McNeil-Warren's, like, deep coverage ability and his tackle
04:51ability.
04:51So I think that would probably be an overdraft based on what people are saying about his draft value at
04:5820.
04:58But I think it could be a big-time help for the Cowboys.
05:01I just wonder if they still want one after adding Jalen Thompson and P.J. Locke.
05:06Well, the Trayton Stooks from Arizona is coming in for a visit.
05:08And that's another guy that's a safety-slash-nickel player.
05:11So I absolutely think they're still hunting that type of guy.
05:14McNeil-Warren, in terms of being a slot type of dude, I think there's other players that are better suited
05:19to do that for me personally.
05:20I don't know that I'd have him in that conversation, but he's a good player.
05:24All righty.
05:24That Cowboys trade rumor from over the weekend has the Cardinals entertaining offers at No. 3.
05:31And the Cowboys are one of the teams that are interested in moving up.
05:35Would that be a surprise for you guys?
05:37It would be a big surprise.
05:38When I first heard about it, I was like, okay, cool.
05:42Let's go get the best pass rusher or the pass rusher that we like.
05:45But once you get onto that website, it's at drafttech.com that's got the handy-dandy trade chart.
05:51The trade value chart.
05:52Trade chart.
05:53Is that pretty accurate compared to what they use?
05:55Yeah, what the Cowboys use, yeah.
05:56Pretty close.
05:57I mean, so once I did that, I'm still 18 points short.
06:02Even with 92, 12, 20, and 92, I'm still 18 points short of Arizona.
06:07Yeah, don't worry about it.
06:09If you're 18 points short, we're good.
06:10We're good.
06:11We're to the good.
06:12You don't want to go for something where you're basically like you're 75, 100 points.
06:18You don't want to do that.
06:18You don't want to be like a third or fourth round pick different.
06:22But if you're looking at a six or seven, you're okay.
06:26We're close enough then?
06:27Yeah, you're okay.
06:27That's way too much to give up.
06:29Yeah, and I don't see the Cowboys wanting to do that at all.
06:33I think they're going up, but I don't know if it's going to be to three.
06:35But I think they're going to trade up.
06:37I think going up is totally on the table.
06:39Six to Cleveland is just the spot that makes a lot of sense to me.
06:41Yeah, because you're still getting the same quantity of players that you were supposed to.
06:46Assuming they want to kick back that pick, maybe it's a later pick, but I'd love it if that could
06:50happen.
06:51I'm on the phone right now trying to get the pick.
06:54Seriously.
06:55You're not waiting until it's on the clock.
06:56No.
06:57No.
06:58Mm-mm.
06:58No.
06:59Because I know one thing.
07:01I'll get the defensive player I want.
07:03You'll get one of those studs for sure.
07:06If you make me wait six more picks after that, I'll take Messador.
07:11But I think that's where you're at.
07:13I think six picks later, the difference between six picks later could be potentially getting Bailey or getting Messador.
07:21Six spots.
07:23Right.
07:23That's what it means.
07:24What's Cleveland want to do in this situation?
07:27They want to take Freeland, the offensive tackle, from Georgia.
07:31And then they can come back at 20 and take another O-alignment.
07:34Sure.
07:35Yeah.
07:35I mean, I know everything is pointing to them.
07:40They really do like Freeland a lot, and they think taking him at six is too rich.
07:46Okay.
07:47Which is why I guess we got the report about Cornell Tate going there if he's on the board.
07:52Yeah.
07:52Because, yeah, I mean, these offensive tackles, that's a reach unless it's Malanoa or maybe Fanoa.
07:59Yeah, and even then, you know, there's going to be questions about, you know, all of these players.
08:04That's why, you know, I've heard Brian say numerous times he'd be terrified to be picking an offensive lineman in
08:10the top 15 of this draft.
08:11I would.
08:12Unless it was Malanoa.
08:13Yeah, he's the one guy.
08:15And I like Spencer Fanoa a lot.
08:18I would be totally confident taking him.
08:19And I have Fanoa, I have him as well.
08:20I have him as well, but I would be, I would, I have, I don't have as many questions about
08:25Malanoa as I do the rest of those guys.
08:28Okay, elsewhere here in the C-Note, Todd Archer has a story up about EJ Smith's visit with the Cowboys
08:34last week.
08:35Emmett's kid, he was in Dallas for the Dallas Days workout on Thursday.
08:40He's got a shot.
08:41Is he going to be here?
08:42We're going to see him in camp?
08:43We're going to interview Emmett's kid in camp?
08:45We're going to do this, right?
08:46I think we could.
08:46I think day three, man, that makes a ton of sense.
08:48We're going to draft him.
08:49We're going to make a special moment.
08:50I think that that could happen.
08:51I absolutely do.
08:52We're kind of into that, aren't we, Dawson?
08:53I don't like it.
08:54Some jerseys and making stories, let dreams come true.
08:57He's an absolute stud at Jesuit.
08:58Deuce Fawn.
08:59Went to Stanford.
08:59Yeah, if you did it for Deuce Fawn, why wouldn't you do it for EJ Smith?
09:03That's a great point, Chief.
09:04He's bigger than Deuce Fawn, a lot bigger than Deuce Fawn.
09:06Oh, yeah.
09:06Does he got a chance of being a player in the NFL?
09:13Being back by committee type of player, if you have an injury, a dude that can come in
09:16and start for you for a game here and there, I think EJ Smith's a solid back.
09:20We have some details in here on the topic of hosting a Super Bowl.
09:24Stephen Jones saying, I will say with all the new stadiums coming on board, it will make
09:30it hard.
09:31Jerry saying, it has to be right.
09:34It has to be under the right conditions.
09:36There are a lot of nuances and responsibilities that teams and markets take on when you do a
09:40Super Bowl.
09:41The way the Super Bowl goes, there's a lot behind the scenes trading going on.
09:46All of that is a consideration.
09:48So they were asked about it last week at the league meetings and neither one of them sounds
09:56optimistic or even that interested.
09:59It sounds like it might not be worth all the hassle to them.
10:01I'd say the amount of money they're about to make on the World Cup.
10:04Yeah, it's true.
10:05Is it a lot?
10:06Makes up for it all.
10:07Makes up for it all.
10:08Yeah.
10:09Yeah, I can't wait, man.
10:10They probably got PTSD from the last time they did it.
10:12And that's why I say conditions.
10:14He did the quotes.
10:15Conditions.
10:16Weather conditions.
10:17Are we still being sued for that?
10:18Are we still in litigation of that one?
10:22That's a good point.
10:23Maybe they legally can't host a Super Bowl.
10:25I don't know.
10:26But it did get ugly as they tried to add a bunch of seating in the days leading up to
10:32it to sell additional tickets and make extra money.
10:35And then it didn't come together right.
10:37I'm sure some people, but not all, remember it.
10:39It was 16 years ago now.
10:41But a lot of those seats didn't come together.
10:43And people went to the Super Bowl at AT&T Stadium.
10:48And they had to watch the game from a room on TV inside the stadium because their seats
10:54didn't work.
10:54Couldn't get them cleared with the safety and all that.
10:56We had a massive snowstorm.
10:58Didn't we have an ice storm?
10:59Really bad ice storm?
10:59Yeah, there was another lawsuit in 2014.
11:01They had to settle with the NFL because somebody got hurt with ice falling from the stadium
11:06the same week as the Super Bowl.
11:08So that also went down.
11:10Oh, yeah.
11:11I mean, that one kind of wasn't their fault.
11:13No, there's something you can do about it.
11:14But maybe they're not ready.
11:15Maybe they're not ready for a cold weather situation and to put the NFL's liability at
11:22risk like that.
11:22They haven't even gotten the national championship for the college football playoff back, right?
11:27They just had Ohio State-Oregon back in like 2015, 16.
11:30I think the Cotton Bowl is about to roll it back around, though.
11:33I feel like, I mean, we're 10 years removed.
11:35Like, why hasn't it happened yet?
11:36It's fascinating, though.
11:38And something tells me there's got to be an interesting article from Wickersham or somebody,
11:43you know, coming in the not-too-distant future.
11:45Yeah, let's get Don Van Not on the scene, dude.
11:47He'll spell it out.
