00:05This is a production of the U.S. Department of State.
00:35Welcome, Watchers of Illusion, to the Castle of Confusion.
00:40FaZe with us now, for this is the time of adventure.
00:45I, Treyguard, issue the challenge.
00:48Beyond that portal lies the Dungeon of Deceit, which I alone have mastered.
00:55But those of you who cross the boundaries of time must master it also.
01:01The first is now without, so enter, stranger.
01:09Who challenges my dungeon?
01:12David Campbell.
01:14You have some small previous experience of dungeoneering, I hope?
01:18Yes, I have.
01:19Very well. And what reward do you seek here?
01:23I seek knighthood.
01:24David, that will not be possible.
01:27Only the first step to knighthood can be taken here.
01:31Squiredom is the reward for surviving the dungeon, for silver precedes gold.
01:36And the silver spares of a squire will be yours, if you survive.
01:42Now you know you may have three advisors to aid you on your quest.
01:46Call them to us, please.
01:49David, James, Lucian, come.
01:53Well, I can't say I'm over-impressed.
01:57But then appearances, as we know, are so often deceptive.
02:01Who guides this dungeoneer?
02:05I'm David Hemp, from Cranfield, in Bedfordshire.
02:09James Hoggett, from Wotton, Bedfordshire.
02:12Lucian Morris, from Cranfield, Bedfordshire.
02:14Well, I'm sure you'll do.
02:16And if you don't, someone will find the results amusing.
02:20Now, two matters of the most serious.
02:24David, your quest through the dungeon is for truth and justice.
02:30Justice, of course, is blind.
02:31And when you don this helmet, you also become blind.
02:35Although you'll find there's just enough vision to examine and collect objects from directly beneath.
02:41The others remain here, where with magic they can be your eyes.
02:46Their voices will reach you through the helmet.
02:49Now, the dungeon ahead is an alien place.
02:52And so, to sustain your progress, a sprite of energy will travel with you.
02:58This is its manifestation.
03:03It is your own life force, and must be fed with food, which you will find occasionally on your quest.
03:12This is condition green.
03:15On condition red, you are in great peril.
03:19For this is no game for a player with numerous lives.
03:23And when this one's done, your adventure is over.
03:29To feed your life force, you must place any food in this knapsack.
03:34But place only food there, for any other objects would also be consumed.
03:38You will, of course, find other objects on your quest.
03:41Choose them, and use them with care.
03:44And remember, you may carry only two at a time.
03:48Now, I am constrained to offer you certain final warnings.
03:52So listen to my words very carefully.
03:56On your quest, I shall be with you.
03:58And yet, not with you.
04:01For there are places in the dungeon where even I may not safely go.
04:06The way to truth is tortuous.
04:09There is no correct route through the dungeon.
04:11But the right path can be found using logic and guile.
04:17The only way is onward.
04:19There is no turning back.
04:22Well, David, do you still wish to enter the quest?
04:27Yes, I do.
04:29Very well.
04:31Turn, then.
04:33Face the door.
04:35And take a step forward.
04:41Where am I?
04:43You're in a reasonably large room.
04:46Ahead of you, on the wall, there are two doors with portcullises in them.
04:51To your right and left, diagonally, there are also two portcullises...
04:55Two exits, and a portcullises in front of each of them.
05:00On the floor, there are four letters.
05:03These are N, P, O, and E.
05:07The nearest one to you is E.
05:10Open.
05:11They spell.
05:12Ah, they spell open.
05:16You're wasting energy, team.
05:18A small chance of success if you allow this simple puzzle to force you.
05:23Well, let's go up to that portcullis and turn it to say open.
05:26Well, take the right steps for further progress.
05:29Turn right slightly.
05:31And turn left a bit.
05:33Forward until I say stop.
05:37Right, stop.
05:37Remember, that which does not read right must be spelt correctly.
05:42And say open.
05:43Open.
05:44Now, collect the letters.
05:45Perhaps you can pick the letters up if you walk them or something.
05:48Here, Jock.
05:51Can you turn left slightly?
05:52See if anything happens if it goes across.
05:55And walk across the letter, if you can see it.
05:58Just walk straight forward then.
06:01Turn right slightly.
06:03And walk straight forward a few places.
06:07Right, so that's what you can do.
06:08It does nothing.
06:09Okay.
06:10Remember, spelt correctly.
06:14Oh, yeah.
06:15All right.
06:16Turn round completely.
06:19And a bit more.
06:21All right.
06:21Walk forward until I say stop.
06:25Stop.
06:25Stop.
06:26Turn right.
06:28Walk forward a bit.
06:31Stop.
06:32Turn right again.
06:35All right.
06:36Now, walk forward one small place.
06:38Right again.
06:41Walk forward another small place.
06:44All right.
06:45Now, turn.
06:47Walk forward three spaces.
06:51Right.
06:52Now, turn right.
06:54And walk forward a few spaces.
06:57Do I say stop?
06:58Right.
06:58Stop.
06:59Turn right.
07:00Hurry, team.
07:01Walk forward.
07:02Life force energy is fading.
07:04Forward.
07:05All right.
07:06Stop.
07:07Turn right.
07:08Walk forward.
07:10All right.
07:11Stop.
07:12Turn right.
07:13Forward.
07:18All right.
07:18Stop.
07:20All right.
07:21Right.
07:21Go left slightly.
07:24Forward.
07:24Now, he's going away.
07:25Stop.
07:26Stop.
07:26Turn right.
07:27First time.
07:28Walk forward.
07:32Where am I?
07:33You're in a smallish room with a door in the wall in front of you and a door in the
07:37wall to your right.
07:38There is a table in the middle of the room.
07:41All right, David.
07:42Walk forward until I say stop.
07:43Stop.
07:44Stop.
07:45Turn right.
07:47And take a step forward.
07:49I can see the object on the table.
07:52All right.
07:52Take the meat pie.
07:53Right.
07:57Now, there's also a ruby on the table.
08:00Can you see that?
08:01Yes, I can see that.
08:03All right.
08:04Well, we'll try taking that.
08:04You have delayed too long in this chamber.
08:07A manifestation is now occurring.
08:10Stand quite still.
08:12Stand quite still.
08:17You are relatively fortunate.
08:19This is a wall monster, category level one.
08:23Such minor malignants feed on life force, but usually allow their victims to survive.
08:30Because they're not very bright, they delight in stupidity.
08:35In this case, your stupidity.
08:38You must defeat him with a witch, and when he speaks, you must answer.
08:44I am Olgoth of legend.
08:51I have riddles of different times, of different legends.
08:58Three riddles have I, and truth is what I seek.
09:03One truth will pass you on, two may aid you, three commands me.
09:12Fail all three, and I feed on you.
09:20Listen, team, with one solution you may proceed.
09:23With two, you gain some knowledge which may be of help.
09:27With all three, this dismal creature will gift you that magic which he does possess.
09:34Fail three times, and all could be lost.
09:38Here is my first.
09:43Of earth I was born.
09:48Deep fires tempered me.
09:52Mountains slipped on me.
09:56My father was younger than I, and a sculptor gave me my face.
10:05What am I made of?
10:11David, I think we have the answer to the riddle.
10:15Right, what is it?
10:15Could you try saying stone, please?
10:18Stone.
10:19Truth accepted.
10:22Here is my second.
10:26Made like me, the mountain stands.
10:30The tallest object in our land.
10:34Give name to him.
10:46Made like me, the mountain stands.
10:49What am I?
10:51Might be stone again.
10:52No.
10:54One riddle, one answer.
10:56Name it now.
10:57It's all right, right now.
10:59All right, David.
11:00Try stone again, then.
11:01Storm.
11:03Falsehood.
11:04Ben Nevis was the truth I sought.
11:08Here is my third.
11:11Try and get this one.
11:11Once, by magic, I was cleft.
11:16Deep in my chest, a sword was left.
11:20Ten years of pain I then endured.
11:23Then came a prince who pulled it forth.
11:26Name him now and gain reward.
11:30Prince.
11:32Prince.
11:33Arthur.
11:35Arthur.
11:35Yeah, Arthur.
11:36King Arthur.
11:37What is it?
11:37Arthur.
11:38David.
11:39Try Arthur.
11:39King Arthur.
11:40King Arthur.
11:41Truth accepted.
11:45True is the score you may know more.
11:49Justice lies on the right, but he who seeks it must be fleet of foot.
11:57Aye, hunger.
12:00Aye.
12:00Yet we may meet again.
12:04All right, then, David.
12:05You'll have to leave the objects now.
12:07All right.
12:08Turn left.
12:09You can still take the objects.
12:10You must take some objects.
12:12All right, David.
12:13Take the ruby.
12:15And will I take the charm to hold up, or will I take the charm?
12:18Try taking the charm.
12:19Don't put it in the back.
12:19Don't put it in the back.
12:20Right.
12:20Take the charm as well.
12:22Right.
12:23All right.
12:24Now turn left.
12:25Now redeem or something much nastier than a wall monster.
12:29Stop.
12:29Turn right.
12:31Left.
12:32Left slightly.
12:33Left slightly.
12:33Walk.
12:34Walk forward.
12:38Where am I?
12:39Quickly.
12:39David, you're in a smallish room.
12:41There are two exits.
12:43You just came through one.
12:44There's another one to your left.
12:46There's a bomb lighted, David.
12:47Okay.
12:48You might...
12:48All right.
12:49Step forward.
12:50One step.
12:51Turn left.
12:52Walk forward.
12:53Walk forward.
12:55Another one.
12:55Another one.
12:56Quickly.
12:56Quickly.
12:57Another one.
12:58Bomb explosion.
13:00Quickly.
13:00Turn left a bit.
13:01Another bomb.
13:02Bomb room.
13:02Where are I?
13:03David, walk forward.
13:04Continually.
13:05Keep going.
13:07Left a bit.
13:08Right.
13:09Stop.
13:09Right a bit.
13:10Right.
13:11Walk forward.
13:14Where am I?
13:15David, you're in a rocky cavern.
13:18You're standing on the edge of a chasm, right?
13:20So don't move.
13:21A chasm, sorry.
13:22Now, at the top of the cavern, there is...
13:25A serpent's head.
13:28And across the chasm is a woman.
13:31Warning, team.
13:33She commands here.
13:35She will not tolerate my presence.
13:38Even as I speak, she rejects me.
13:41She rejects me.
13:43Be gone.
13:46No master but a mistress rules here.
13:50I am called Lilith.
13:53And this is my domain.
13:56And the only way beyond is through the serpent's mouth.
14:04What is more, I do not particularly care for visitors, especially when they arrive unannounced and are most unsuitably attired.
14:16You certainly cannot stay.
14:19And so you must leave.
14:21And when you do so, kindly use the alternative exit.
14:27Just a few steps forward, please.
14:31Don't.
14:31Come on.
14:32Hurry.
14:33Do not.
14:34Right?
14:34Don't move.
14:35Okay.
14:37Silence!
14:38Chitter, chatter, chitter.
14:41Beware, spies.
14:42I can not only hear you, I can see you too.
14:48Pay attention, boy, and listen to me.
14:53Now, for some small consideration, I might just spare you and allow you to leave through the serpent's mouth.
15:04Have you anything that might interest me, David?
15:08The ruby jog.
15:09Offer the ruby.
15:10I've got the ruby.
15:11A ruby.
15:12Oh, bring it to me.
15:14Hurry, boy, hurry.
15:15Don't move.
15:16Oh, wait, wait.
15:17First, I must summon the causeway.
15:21If only I can remember how to do it.
15:26Ah, yes.
15:28Rock to rock and stone to stone.
15:32Span the pit and cross the zone.
15:37Now, bring it to me, boy.
15:39Okay.
15:39All right, David.
15:41All right, David.
15:41All of these faces.
15:43How are you, David?
15:44Bring it.
15:45Keep going.
15:45Keep going.
15:47Keep going.
15:47Quickly, boy.
15:48And turn.
15:49Right, turn right.
15:51Forward.
15:53Farewell.
15:53Turn left.
15:55Quick, turn left.
15:57Right.
15:57A bit, right a bit.
15:58Forward.
16:00Where am I?
16:01Right, David.
16:02Did you?
16:02Morning, team.
16:04No sooner do I take my eyes off you than you blunder into the great corridor of a catacomb.
16:10This is patrolled by the army of the dead.
16:13Exit with haste or your quest ends now.
16:17All right, David.
16:18You heard me, did you?
16:19You heard him, did you?
16:19Yeah.
16:20All right, take three steps forward.
16:24All right, there's a symbol next to the door on your left, which is the same as the charm
16:28in your hands.
16:29All right.
16:30All right, turn left and step forward three spaces.
16:33All right, stop.
16:34Turn right.
16:35Forward three.
16:37Stop.
16:38All right, stop.
16:39Now enter that door.
16:40Turn left.
16:43What am I?
16:44David, you're in a dark room.
16:47You've just come through an entrance, but I can't tell you anything else at the moment.
16:53What are we going to do?
16:54I don't know.
16:55Difficult.
16:57He can't go back to the entrance.
16:59He came out of it, can he?
17:00No.
17:01No, just go.
17:01David, start walking forward just a bit.
17:05Turn.
17:05Just keep going until we say stop.
17:07Warning, team.
17:10You should have taken the magic lamp when you had the chance.
17:14It would have been enough to have remembered the symbol.
17:17Now I can do nothing for you, even if I wished.
17:20This darkness is caused by something which doesn't like intruders.
17:24Even now it's making its dislike felt.
17:28Look at your life force clock.
17:31Condition red.
17:33David.
17:34Yeah?
17:35Hold the chair, Mark.
17:51Oh dear, what a pity.
17:53Never mind.
17:54David, it seems, has come to a decidedly sticky end.
17:58And so I'm afraid team has your particular adventure.
18:02By the way, if you're worried about David and what you're going to say to his parents,
18:06you needn't be.
18:07Just look in your magic mirror and you'll see that David, although he perished in the dungeon,
18:12has survived in the reality you call your time.
18:16Time now for you to join him.
18:20Spell casting.
18:22D-I-S-M-I-S-S.
18:28Farewell, David.
18:30Take with you those scrolls as proof of your short journey through the dungeon.
18:35You did well, but I'm afraid you came an awful cropper.
18:38The path behind you leads back to your time, your world.
18:44So farewell, David, James, Lucian, and David.
18:55Ah, well, life goes on, or not as they say, and there are still deeds to do before time flies.
19:03The dungeon wins and challenge is still.
19:06But who shall be next to pick up the gauntlet?
19:09Enter, stranger.
19:13Who dares the dungeon next?
19:17Maeve McAvoy.
19:18Well, stand not on ceremony then, or time becomes our enemy.
19:22Call your advisors to us, please.
19:25Christina, David, Lee, Cough.
19:28And name yourselves, please.
19:31I'm Christina White from Rottenstall in Lancashire.
19:35I'm David Walker from Pasalindon in Lancashire.
19:38I'm Lee Miller from Edenfield in Lancashire.
19:41Well, now that we have the next victims, I mean team, we can commence.
19:47You will have read the rules of ritual and the Adventurer's Code.
19:50But first, for those who merely watch, a brief reminder.
19:55Here is the helmet of justice which blinds you to the way ahead.
20:00Here the knapsack for food to feed your life force.
20:04Two objects only may you carry if you discover objects on your quest.
20:09Choose cautiously and use magic or the weapons of your enemy with care.
20:14A word of warning, the dungeon is obscure, so any knowledge of previous quests will be of little use.
20:22Maeve, your life force energy condition is green and your spirits are high.
20:28The silver spurs of squiredom await your success.
20:31Yes, but remember, once embarked, the only way is onward.
20:37There is no turning back.
20:40Well, Maeve, are you ready to enter the quest?
20:44Yes.
20:45Very well.
20:46Well, turn then, face the dungeon door, and step forward.
20:57Where am I?
20:58We're in a room with four doors, two in front and one on either side.
21:04Right.
21:04And the locking, you've got populous on each door.
21:08And there's all letters appearing on the floor.
21:11There's letters on your feet.
21:13Let them hold.
21:14Next for the door.
21:15You're wasting energy, team.
21:17There's more chance of success if you allow this simple puzzle to defeat you.
21:22To open the way ahead, you seek a magic word.
21:26And just as with all spells, it must be spelt correctly.
21:32Oh, okay.
21:34Go for it.
21:35No, hang on, hang on.
21:37I don't know what the word is.
21:38It's sesame.
21:41What?
21:42It's an open sesame.
21:43Right.
21:45Walk forward until we say stop.
21:47Go straight forward until we say stop.
21:48Stop.
21:49Go forward again.
21:50Slightly forward.
21:52Stop.
21:52That's it.
21:54She's still here.
21:54It's going up.
21:56Go.
22:00Turn to your right.
22:02And turn to your right again.
22:03Turn right again.
22:04Step forward.
22:06Stop.
22:07Right, you've got your E.
22:08Turn to your left.
22:10And again.
22:11And again.
22:12And walk forward.
22:15Turn to your left again.
22:16Oh, yeah.
22:19Turn to your left again.
22:21Left.
22:22And then again.
22:23And walk straight forward.
22:23No.
22:25Am I walking straight forward?
22:26No.
22:27Turn to your left again.
22:29Now, a little bit to the right.
22:31Just a little bit.
22:32Just walk forward.
22:33Walk forward, yeah.
22:35That's not the E that comes up.
22:36No, it's not the E that comes up.
22:37Right, right.
22:37Turn to the right.
22:39Now walk straight forward.
22:41Stop.
22:42Uh, M.
22:44M.
22:44And up.
22:45Straight round.
22:46Turn to my right.
22:48Right.
22:49And again.
22:50Right, now walk straight forward.
22:54Stop.
22:55Again, stop.
22:56Turn around.
22:56And again.
22:57To my right.
22:58Yes, right.
23:00Now walk forward.
23:01Walk forwards.
23:02Stop.
23:04Yeah, there you go.
23:06Oh, right.
23:07Turn.
23:08Right.
23:10Walk forward.
23:11Stop.
23:13Warning, team.
23:15Complete temporal disruption approaching.
23:18Time is now the enemy.
23:20Oh, dear.
23:22Temporal disruption complete.
23:24Time flies, as the Romans would say.
23:27And although all continues in your world,
23:30here, time has flown.
23:31All adventuring must now cease until you phase with us once more.
23:37Will our team triumph on the next level?
23:40Or will our dungeoneer come to a sticky end?
23:44And if so, why should you care?
23:47For here, nothing is real, and everything must surely be an illusion.
23:53Join us again for a nightmare, and just keep telling yourself, it's only a game, isn't it?
