00:4370 feet down the cliff.
00:44Firefighters were able to first drop down a rescue cable for her to secure herself.
00:48One firefighter then had to rappel down the cliff and strap a harness and helmet onto the
00:53woman.
00:53It took a few tense minutes from there, but the rescue crew was then able to lift the
00:57woman off the cliff safely.
00:59So how did she get there?

01:46A dramatic collision between a windsurfer and a great whale on the San Francisco Bay
01:51is now raising questions about marine safety.
01:54Certainly concerning to see a collision like this, both from a human health standpoint in
01:59terms of we're very happy that this gentleman was okay, but as well for whale health in the
02:06bay.
02:06A Coast Guard spokesperson tells Eyewitness News this video shows how important it is for
02:11everyone on the water to pay attention to their surroundings.

02:17You can see there are six gray whales on the San Francisco Bay.
02:19Federal law requires people to keep a 100-yard distance from whales.
02:23The Marine Mammal Center calls San Francisco Bay a busy and confined space as whales migrate
02:30north from Mexico.
02:31This year, gray whales came to the bay early.
02:34Gray whales have a very low profile in the water.
02:38Sometimes you may just see their back or tail fluke or fin for a second or two before they
02:45continue a dive.
02:47Since 2016, gray whales have lost more than 50% of their overall population.
02:52They're advised to windsurfers, boaters, and anyone else in the water.
02:56Look out for them.
02:57If you see a spout or see a blow, go slow, because those are typically trademarks for gray
