00:00This is not a...
00:01Perfect.
00:02This is very similar to what we mentioned earlier
00:04with the Islanders firing at Patrick Waugh.
00:06When something first happens, you're stunned by it.
00:08Like we all just said, wow!
00:10Sean broke the glass and told us that.
00:11But it's not surprising.
00:13It's not surprising at all.
00:14If you've known what's going on for the last two years, really,
00:19he got an extension, but immediately got replaced
00:22and was underpaid relative to the top paid defensive tackles in football.
00:27And some of that showed up in, I won't say a hold in,
00:32but it was kind of like that.
00:35And so you felt that there was a disconnect
00:38between Dexter Lawrence and the organization.
00:40And as the season went on and the underproduction kept showing itself,
00:45then it felt like it was intentional and not,
00:47I'm just recovering from injury and I didn't have a good offseason,
00:51I'm overweight and all these other things.
00:53Now we get to the bottom of it.
00:54But he wants a new contract.
00:57The Giants are probably dead fast against it.
00:59Therefore, he's requesting a change.
01:01And I remember bringing this up there in the combine
01:03where Joe Shane was talking about the status of his salary cap
01:07and he mentioned how a few of his players are underpaid.
01:10Like he brought it up and I thought it was odd.
01:12I was like, you're right, Joe, but why would you say it?
01:15It's almost rubbing it in to some of the guys on your roster.
01:18And one of the guys on their roster is Dexter Lawrence.
01:22And you had mentioned this during the season last year,
01:26speculating like maybe it's the contract.
01:28I don't know what it is, but it could be something like that.
01:31And during the offseason, the early goings of the offseason,
01:33we talked about how could this roster look really different
01:36and talked about the idea of trading Dexter Lawrence.
01:38I'll have to find the audio.
01:39I think I predicted it at one point.
01:40I think you did, actually.
01:41I think I did.
01:42I'll find out.
01:43And I remember the response was, hell no.
01:46How are you replacing him?
01:48Which, by the way, is a completely fair point.
01:51I mean, Sean looks distraught over there.
01:53So you're not?
01:55Before you continue, the look on your face right now
01:59is of kind of like indigestion.
02:03But you know what?
02:04It's not fair for me to put words in your mouth.
02:06We'll ask you.
02:06Why don't you go and ask Sean Morash?
02:07We will.
02:09Your thoughts, your instant reaction as the face of giant fandom
02:13about this report that Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade.
02:16Well, there's two sides of this.
02:17Number one.
02:17Again, he's coming off a very bad statistical year.
02:19Very bad year.
02:20And my LOL judge point was so good, now I've got to wait.
02:22It has to.
02:23It has to.
02:23So I have two trains of thought here.
02:25Number one, if we've learned anything about the NFL and trade requests,
02:27it's that just because the guy requests a trade
02:30doesn't mean he doesn't just, in turn, get a contract worked out.
02:32Like, I don't necessarily think this means definitively
02:35that Dexter Lawrence is gone and they won't figure this out.
02:37No.
02:37The only reason this feels that way is because of what happened last season.
02:41Exactly.
02:41So that would bring me to point number two.
02:43If Dexter Lawrence has seen it all with this organization,
02:45feels underpaid, I don't blame him in it.
02:46I don't have any ill will.
02:47But I also kind of look at this as a potential opportunity for the Giants.
02:51I'm sorry, man.
02:52The Jets did pretty well for Quentin Williams with that trade package.
02:54Can't we all agree?
02:55Pretty well.
02:56Beyond good.
02:56They did phenomenal.
02:57If the Giants could get a first.
02:58For a guy who was also underperforming.
03:00Yeah.
03:01If the Giants could get a first-round pick plus for Dexter Lawrence,
03:05and I look at the meat of this draft in the 20s, 30s,
03:08think about the type of team that would trade for Dexter Lawrence.
03:10There's a lot of really good D tackles in this draft.
03:12Kind of like Evan alluded to when Sauce Gardner got traded
03:14and wanting to replace him with a corner.
03:16Man, I know there's not that many Dexter Lawrences.
03:19I think I'm okay trading Dexter Lawrence if he gets that kind of package back.
03:23And then you're immediately investing in one of these big D tackles
03:26like a Peter Woods out of the draft and kind of restarting that.
03:28Because you know what, man?
03:29Dexter Lawrence, you had every chance if you really wanted that contract
03:32to put it all out there.
03:32I was disappointed with your effort last year.
03:34And the Giants have sucked stop of the run with you.
03:36We could suck stop of the run without you.
03:39Yeah, but that's...
