02:54Hopkido is a circular motion and non-resistance that means not blocking the hand but actually
02:59complementing his force and redirecting him to the ground.
03:05In this technique, by stepping right foot out, you redirect the arm, strike to the ribs and
03:12twist using the cane as leverage and trapping it in between the forearm and the ribs.
03:19Let's look at it together, step out, twist.
03:25Let's look at another angle.
03:28Notice how the cane is trapped right by the body in the arm.
03:34Stepping out of the way in the first motion, striking and twisting.
03:42Let's look at it in slow motion.
03:45Notice the check.
03:47You check the opponent's hand and redirect him all the way down.
03:52It's very important to hold on to the hand while the person goes down to always finish
03:57the job.
04:00And sometimes that could even help your opponent being thrown down.
04:11Notice that in this technique also, we step right foot out.
04:14Same kind of trapping techniques, just a little variation.
04:26Instead of hitting to the ribs, the strike goes straight upwards to the armpit and back
04:31of the arm to actually lift the opponent up and making his force go upwards and redirect
04:38him all the way down.
04:40Let's look at it together, slow motion.
04:42Make sure when you practice this with your partner, you're not actually hitting him too
04:47hard and make sure they're prepared to take such falls like this.
04:59One more time in slow motion.
05:02Stepping right foot out, checking the hand, striking upwards, twisting, trapping the body
05:07and straight down.
05:16In the next technique, same thing right foot out.
05:18This time, I'm actually twisting about 180 degrees by adding more torque to the whole technique
05:27and more speed into it.
05:29Notice the trapping.
05:36Let's look at the technique together.
05:38Straight upwards, twisting under, ducking under the arm and stepping out of the way.
05:44Straight up, duck under and twist straight down.
05:52Notice in the first two techniques, there was no ducking under.
05:56It was a very straight throw.
05:58This one requires you to actually spin your upper body a little bit more and duck under
06:03your arm.
06:07It's very important to hold on to the cane firmly so it won't come out of your hand.
06:17In this technique, same thing, stepping right foot out, however, the cane goes under the arm
06:22and gets trapped on the opponent's chin and under the neck.
06:29Notice that I'm grabbing the actual wrist and applying pressure with the index finger and
06:37the thumb to the opponent's wrist.
06:47By stepping out of the way, bringing the cane under and over and twisting and making the opponent
06:55go all the way down.
07:00Again, as you can tell, I'm not meeting the force against force by blocking the hand.
07:06It's just a matter of complimenting the opponent's move by stepping out of the way and keeping
07:11his force going forward and down.
07:22Now in this one, you're actually taking advantage of the other hand of the opponent, not so much
07:27the hand that's striking you.
07:30So by stepping out of the way, you actually pretend like you're stabbing and going straight
07:35forward in that little hole that your opponent creates with his left arm.
07:41And twisting it and redirecting him all the way down.
07:45Notice stepping out of the way, going straight in and twisting.
07:59Remember the principle of falling as we covered in the volume one is that there's an upper body
08:04going forward and lower body in motion.
08:06What happens when somebody falls is that one of these sections stops from moving.
08:12And this is what this technique is all about.
08:14The opponent keeps moving and you stop the opponent's lower body by putting the cane right
08:20in front of the leg, right on the shin bone.
08:24So when the upper body keeps going, the person will trip and fall down.
08:31Notice stepping out of the way, putting the cane down and pulling with the other hand.
08:44In this technique, you step out and strike to the groin.
08:49Drop the cane in between the legs, put the right foot behind the opponent's front leg and sweep
08:56him down.
09:09Notice stepping out of the way, striking to the groin at the same time.
09:13Step in and sweep the opponent straight down.
09:24When you practice these techniques, you might want to start these really slow and analyze
09:30every move in slow motion with your partner before actually going him all the way out.
09:37Now in this one, as you can see, by stepping out of the way, you strike straight to the opponent's
09:43throat.
09:53This is a tricky one because the cane goes over the arm, striking to the groin and actually
09:59lifting your opponent off the ground by causing him to go straight up in the air.
10:05Strike to the throat, over the arm, strike to the groin and lifting him off the ground.
10:23Again, be extremely cautious in picking a right partner and make sure he knows how to do the
10:31falling techniques correctly.
10:37These techniques are devastating and could do serious injury to your partner.
10:49Next technique.
10:50Stepping out of the way, this time we strike to the solar plexus, make it completely turn,
10:56striking to the back of the legs to sweep the opponent straight down.
11:03Notice the twisting motion in the cane and striking straight down.
11:09So we redirect, strike, turn around, hit the legs and finish the opponent.
11:15Let's look at it in slow motion together.
11:20Stepping out of the way, striking him.
11:25One of the things that's so interesting about Hapkido is that the strike is done when your opponent
11:30does not expect it.
11:32The body is an incredible machine and it has a self-defense device in it.
11:38And when the body knows when to get hit, then it prepares itself.
11:43One of the things about Hapkido is that as you can tell, we strike when the opponent doesn't
11:48expect it.
11:49And when is that time?
11:50That time is when the opponent strikes you.
11:52So by stepping out of the way, you strike him and meet the actual opponent while they're
11:58striking you.
12:00On this one, I'm using the other side of the cane now, by using the hooking part.
12:07By stepping out of the way, you check the hand, hook around the neck, pull him down at
12:13the same time, palm strike to the chin.
12:21Stepping out of the way, palm strike to the chin, hook the cane right underneath the groin.
12:39Notice stepping out of the way, checking, bringing him straight towards you, palm striking right
12:44in the middle, and striking upwards to the groin.
12:50On this one, instead of a palm strike, I apply a very devastating elbow strike.
12:56Elbow is a God-given natural weapon that we all have.
13:02Notice the groin strike.
13:07Let's look at it together in slow motion.
13:09Bringing the opponent in, elbow strike to the chin.
13:13Using the other side of the cane, striking to the groin.
13:20One of the things you must remember in using any kind of weapon, doesn't matter cane, knife,
13:24or whatever it is, is that you're not limited to using that weapon.
13:27You still have your other hand, and you have your feet.
13:37Let's look at this one together.
13:39Get your partner to actually go along with these techniques, and try to compare all the techniques
13:45to this videotape.
13:59Using the hooking part of the cane again.
14:03Stepping out of the way, you pull him in, and you apply a kick to the groin this time,
14:08using our legs.
14:10Notice that for leverage, I'm still holding on to his neck, by pulling him in towards me,
14:17and kicking to the groin.
14:22Notice the left hand is still out to check the opponent's hand,
14:26so just in case if he wants to hit you again.
14:30Let's look at it again in slow motion.
14:33Stepping out of the way, pulling in, and striking to the groin.
14:44Moving along with the hooking techniques.
14:47This time, notice the hooking is done on the other side of the neck.
14:52You pull him in, and this time you apply a forearm strike to the opponent's throat.
14:58So bring him in.
15:00This could be a shoto strike, or a chop, or a forearm strike, doesn't matter.
15:05But you actually hold on to one.
15:08So grab around the neck, pull in, and strike to the throat.
15:15Be extremely careful practicing with your partner, because you're actually striking to vital parts of the body.
15:23This time we're applying the same hook, however we're changing the way we strike.
15:27Instead of a chop, we're applying elbow strike, and switching hands.
15:33Notice the grip changes from right hand to left, and you finish the technique by a leg sweep.
15:40Let's look at it together.
15:41Stepping out, elbow strike, and sweep the back leg.
15:53Hooking, switching, elbow strike, and actually finishing the technique by sweeping his back leg.
16:02Notice the ready position when standing on top of your opponent.
16:06So just in case the technique didn't work, when he still moves, you can always finish him off.
16:18Let's look at it again together.
16:20Get your opponent, get your partner to work with you in these techniques, and do them in slow motion together.
16:38Next technique, by stepping out of the way, actually checking the hand with your shoulder, and the cane.
16:46We're going to hook around the neck, and apply knee strike.
16:50Let's look at this together.
16:52Stepping out of the way, hook, pull the opponent in.
16:56Knee strike to the midsection, and leg sweep straight down.
17:04Notice the hooking motion right to the armpit.
17:13Let's look at this one together.
17:15Step out of the way, check the hand with the cane.
17:18Knee strike to the sternum.
17:19And leg sweep.
17:24These techniques could be finished with a variety of different techniques.
17:29But usually you want to pick the real simple ones.
17:34Notice on this one, we're going to start techniques that apply more pressure to the joints, especially the elbow.
17:42Notice that the cane, actually the hooking part, it's downwards.
17:46We're going over the elbow, hold on to the wrist, pull the opponent down in a circular motion, and straight
17:55down.
18:03Notice the hook, applying pressure, pulling him circular and straight down.
18:11So you want to make sure your opponent is off balance first, before you actually throw him.
18:16That's one of the really good techniques about this style.
18:20Is that you want to always make sure the opponent always is off balance before you actually apply these techniques.
18:28So you get him to come in, you move him in a direction.
18:33When he's off balance, then apply a little bit more pressure downwards and get him off the ground.
18:42In reality, this doesn't have to be applied towards a throw.
18:47It also could be an elbow break.
18:49Now notice this one is the same technique.
18:51The only difference is the hooking part is upwards.
18:54But I'm still applying the same technique.
18:57Assures the versatility of the cane.
19:02So in this one, the cane goes from down up, hooks around the elbow, then pulling him straight down.
19:16Notice checking with the hand and the cane.
19:22Applying circular motion, making sure he's off balance and redirecting his force all the way to the ground.
19:38Doesn't matter what style you study, Korean, Japanese or Filipino,
19:42using the cane technique could actually complement your style and introduce you to a weapon that's so versatile,
19:49at the same time legal to carry.
20:00Next technique.
20:02We're applying the same hooking as a technique before.
20:05However, ducking under the arm to apply a little bit more pressure to the elbow joint, causing your opponent to
20:15go straight down and being thrown.
20:18It's very important you hold the opponent's wrist firmly.
20:23Applying pressure, twisting underneath and applying pressure towards the wrist and the elbow at the same time.
20:33Make sure on the way down to actually hold onto the opponent's arm.
20:41Again, if your opponent doesn't know how to fall correctly,
20:46what would happen is that he would dislocate his shoulder or break his elbow and wrist.
20:59Notice in this technique I'm changing the grip again.
21:02Actually, not the hand grip, but the grip of the cane.
21:05Just like something we did before.
21:07Instead of hooking upwards, I'm actually hooking down.
21:12You can tell from the position of holding the cane from the beginning.
21:19Let's look at this one together.
21:21Stepping out of the way, pulling your opponent downwards, creating a circle, and straight down.
21:33Look at it a little faster.
21:36Straight down.
21:39Most of the hapkira techniques are done in a matter of one or two steps.
21:44You don't want to take more than two or three steps in order to execute your techniques,
21:48because that's too many movements and your opponent will react to you while you're stepping.
21:56Notice the finish, which is actually a straight downwards blow to the opponent's arm.
22:03Slightly over the elbow.
22:07Pulling him down.
22:09Notice that right now, I'm having my partner actually stop the punch.
22:17Then pull him and throw the techniques.
22:20In a realistic situation, you would actually go with your opponent a lot faster.
22:24However, to be able to demonstrate and teach these techniques,
22:28you must go a little bit slower and take into consideration that you're there for learning purposes.
22:34You're not there for your self-defense or to kill your partner.
22:40In this technique, we hook around the neck again.
22:44See, what's happening is that when the punch comes towards you,
22:47there's a hand going forward and there's a force going forward.
22:50If you redirect or block the hand, the force doesn't follow.
22:54However, if you redirect the force, the hand will follow it.
22:59So what I'm doing here is that we're checking the hand
23:02and using advantage of all that force coming towards me
23:06against the opponent and complementing his move
23:10and bringing him straight down to the ground.
23:17Notice that I'm actually grabbing the cane with two hands for a stronger grip.
23:23So you're stepping out of the way, complement the opponent's force.
23:27Straight down.
23:36Let's look at this technique in another angle.
23:39Stepping out of the way, hooking around the neck and pulling him straight down.
23:46Notice there's no actual blocking techniques.
23:50There's no force against force.
23:52It's all a matter of complementing your opponent.
23:56Not so much going against them.
23:58By stepping out of the way, grabbing the neck and pulling straight down.
24:05Very simple technique.
24:14On this one, we're doing the exact same technique.
24:17However, we're redirecting the opponent's force by adding a circle and ducking under the arm.
24:24So same hook, ducking under and straight down.
24:27This is a very difficult fall.
24:30So you might want to actually consider doing this technique with someone that actually can take this fall.
24:38Or actually just kind of going through it without taking the whole fall.
24:42Because it's very dangerous.
24:52Notice that the cane is actually stuck to the opponent's neck while he's being thrown.
24:59And for the sake of not hurting him, I'm kind of moving with him.
25:03And holding a real loose grip to the cane.
25:07Which in a realistic situation, you would just pull that cane all the way towards you.
25:11And causing your opponent's neck to break.
25:20In this technique, we use the same hooking technique.
25:23However, we're going to add a little twist into it.
25:26And turn the opponent around and apply pressure right to the opponent's throat.
25:35Notice checking the hand, hooking around the neck, turning the opponent around, standing in a wide horse stance and pulling
25:42the opponent downward.
25:47Hook around the neck.
25:50Turn around.
25:51Make sure you still hold on to your opponent's arm.
26:00Let's do this one together.
26:03Stepping out of the way.
26:04Ducking under to a horse stance.
26:07And straight down.
26:08For a finish, we could apply a very simple leg sweep using the hook of the cane again.
26:20Notice the checking.
26:23Redirection of the body.
26:26Around the neck.
26:28And breaking the neck.
26:47You know, these videotapes are designed not to so much entertain you, but actually educate you and teach you some
26:55of these techniques.
26:56So for first few times, I definitely recommend to you just kind of going over the tapes once or twice.
27:03But actually, after that, you want to actually get a hold of a partner and practice these tapes over and
27:08over again.
27:10Do not look at these techniques as just entertainment and say, yeah, these are great techniques.
27:16My instructor taught me a technique, which is still I remember every day.
27:22And the fact that he told me if he could do it, I could do it also.
27:34Remember the powerful saying that it's not what you are that holds you back, but what you think you're not.
27:44And this technique, we're kind of letting go of the upper body.
27:47We're going to start working on the lower body.
27:50Notice the checking system and using the hook around and back of the opponent's knee.
27:56We're going to step out and pull the opponent's downwards.
28:06Let's look at it together again.
28:12One of the things you always want to consider in fighting or any kind of confrontation is using the advantages
28:18of maybe throwing a technique up, down or in the middle.
28:23And this one, by redirecting the opponent's hand, all his attention is in the upper gaits or upper body.
28:31And what you do without looking down, you just hook the cane back of his knee and pull it straight
28:38down.
28:39What he doesn't expect it.
28:43This is a very devastating finishing blow, applying pressure right to the opponent's groin.
28:56In a real situation, you might actually want to hook around the ankle, not the knee, to pull the opponent
29:03all the way down.
29:07Because once the opponent punches, he's committing himself to the punch and he's putting a lot of body weight on
29:13the front leg.
29:14So you want to take advantage of that and sweep him right off his feet.
29:31In this technique, we're redirecting the hand down and around.
29:39Watch the hooking part goes around the elbow.
29:45And bringing him straight over.
29:53We saw a similar technique before.
29:56This is just changing the grip and using the upper part of the arm.
29:59Notice the redirection with the left hand, hooking around just slightly over the elbow and circling all the way down.
30:08Remember the three main principles of Hapkido is circular motion, non-resistance and the water principle.
30:15Which is actually the principle of flowing with your opponent.
30:19Notice the redirection, circling and actually ending up where your opponent was.
30:27By actually switching places.
30:33Same technique again.
30:35However, we're going to start doing some controlling techniques.
30:38Controlling techniques are very actually practical because you're not really hurting your opponent.
30:44However, you're letting him know that if he doesn't do what you want him to do, then he's going to
30:50be in trouble.
30:51Let's look at this one together.
30:55Redirecting the opponent's hand with the left hand downward.
30:59Hook around the neck.
31:01Bring your left hand out.
31:04Grab the cane and move in a circular motion so your opponent cannot resist or counter to this.
31:15Notice the circular motion to cause the opponent to bring him all the way down.
31:33Notice the circle and straight down.
31:40The circling part is very important because it makes it really difficult for your opponent to resist and fight the
31:48circle.
31:49If you were taking him straight down, he could use actually his muscles and counter you.
31:55But using the circular motion, he's going against the force and the torque of the circle.
32:22And this technique, we're kind of doing the same techniques as far as the arms are concerned.
32:28Which by stepping out of the way, circling down, we're going to hook around the neck and knee strike to
32:34the midsection.
32:37Notice the one motion movement that we're doing together.
32:46Stepping out of the way, we direct down around the neck and knee strike.
33:00Notice stepping out of the way, grabbing around the neck.
33:05Pulling the opponent's downwards.
33:09And knee strike.
33:35It will be a very good idea for you to actually have a small journal ready for yourself.
33:40just get a little notebook and actually start writing these techniques down and
33:45number them or name them the easiest way it is for you to remember them so you
33:52actually can take the notes back to your studio and actually practice these in
33:57your classes notice stepping out of the way around the neck and knee strike
34:12make sure in choosing the right kind of cane at least for practice purposes make
34:18sure the hooking part is wide enough so it doesn't cause any pain to your
34:23opponent when you hook it around his neck because there are some canes available
34:28that the hooking part is very small the cane that I'm using right now is a very
34:38common cane that you can actually purchase from any pharmacy or different
34:43stores and they're very inexpensive you can pick one up for about anywhere from
34:48five to about fifteen dollars remember the techniques that we did sweeping the leg
34:58it's the same kind of thing that I'm doing here the only differences is the
35:01checking system by moving out of the way let's look at this one together this
35:11time I'm going left foot out to the outside of your opponent and pulling
35:17straight down and at the other one we were actually stepping right foot out what
35:27we do the body is divided into two different center lines and makes one that
35:33goes a straight across the face going straight down towards your groin and the
35:37other one that covers right across the street the sternum what happens is that
35:43those two lines divide the body into four different gates which is two upper gates
35:49and two lower gates so you can actually step outside or inside your opponent's body
36:04let's look at the technique together we step left foot out and hook around the leg and pull
36:10straight down this technique is finished with the reverse punch to the groin in slow
36:17motion let's look at it together stepping left foot out checking the hand hooking
36:25around the knee and pulling straight down notice how we're going around the
36:34opponent the back of the knees checking the opponent's leg make sure that he
36:40won't kick you and straight down reverse punch to the groin
36:53like i told you before there are many ways of finishing these techniques and this technique
36:59we're stepping out of the way and actually striking with the other side of the cane not the hooking
37:05part but the other side let's look at this one together we're going to still check the hand not block
37:13it we're just going to check it striking to the groin hooking the hooking part of the cane right underneath
37:21the groin and finishing the technique with a reverse punch to the spine
37:35we're showing more versatility in this technique by using some kicking techniques hook around
37:41pull the opponent's neck back pull the groin turn around and jump back kick
37:53remember just for the fact that we're holding a cane near our hand we're not limited to using that cane
37:59by itself
37:59we still have our legs and our hands notice the pulling back striking to the groin
38:16let's watch this one together in slow motion striking to the groin make sure the opponent's is hurt
38:26while we're turning our back to him pulling the groin pulling the hair back
38:34letting go of him jumping straight up both knees and doing a jump back kick
38:53one more time try to follow these techniques step by step pay very close attention to the footwork
39:21this technique doesn't have to be finished with a jump back kick it actually could be finished with any kind
39:26of other kicks
39:30or actually a reverse punch to the spine
39:37let's look at this one together it's the same exact technique
39:42we're striking to the groin pulling the hair back hook around the groin
39:52and instead of a jump back kick doing a reverse punch
39:58well actually you're holding on to the cane
40:10striking to the vital points can truly make the difference of your opponent standing up again and
40:15fighting you or the fight to be over so it's not really how hard you hit him but actually where
40:22you hit him
40:26we're going to start this with the same exact technique pulling straight back the groin and the hair
40:39i'm going to demonstrate a technique here which is very important i want you to listen very carefully
40:45like i told you before just for the fact that we're holding a cane in our hand we're not limited
40:50to the
40:50cane i'm going to demonstrate this to you right now notice in this technique we're doing the exact same thing
40:58and the other two pulling the growing back pulling the hair but here i'm letting go of the cane
41:05and applying a palm strike to the opponent's face
41:15to show that we're not limited to using the cane only
41:25let's look at this one together let's look at this one together striking letting go on palm strike
41:37checking the hand strike to the groin turning around pull the opponent's hair back strike to the opponent's
41:47groin let go of the cane and palm strike right to the nose
42:11one more time together
42:17make sure you go over all these techniques step by step
42:31we're actually repeating these techniques many times for you
42:36so you can actually stop get a hold of your partner and practice these techniques together
42:47you got to remember that part of the price you must pay for any knowledge is to discover it for
42:54yourself
42:55first now we're demonstrating some knife defenses using by using the cane actually
43:08one of the most important things about knife training is that you want to remember
43:13that one accept the fact that you might get cut
43:19and don't be afraid of the knife notice that in this one we actually striking to the forearm weak in
43:27the hand
43:27by using the method called the destruction that means kill and destroy the closest weapon
43:34to you which is the opponent's hand we're going to hook around the elbow
43:41twist the opponent all the way down in a circular motion to the ground and ending up with a knife
43:46because you never want to do anything against knife with the knife leaving in your opponent's hand
43:52so you always want to end up with it notice that i'm keeping the knife away from my body especially
43:58the
43:58vital parts of my body you don't want to actually do techniques with the knife moving around around
44:05your neck or your chest or the groin so you always want to keep it away from you
44:22let's look at this one together pulling it down lifting the opponent off the ground taking the knife
44:28out of his hand and finishing him off let's look at it in slow motion notice that the strike is
44:36down
44:36towards me and i'm stepping out of the way strike the forearm grab the wrist control the knife from the
44:43beginning you want to have total control over the knife
44:50it's like actually defanging the snake
44:55kill the hand get the closest thing to you get away from it and finish the job
45:13let's look at this one again again we're using the destruction method
45:17which is kill the hand by striking to the forearm pull the leg strike to the bicep kill the arm
45:26make
45:27sure the knife is out of the hand then you can finish your opponent i've seen a lot of people
45:35do
45:35techniques where you actually execute a high block to the knife and striking to the head and techniques
45:42like that are very pretty but they're not practical
45:49because you want to go to the closest target to to you and kill it right away which in this
45:56technique
45:57is the hand so strike to the hand get a hold of the knife and really control that knife
46:05make sure the opponent is off balance take him down strike to the bicep area and tear those
46:12muscles still hold on to the hand twist you can cut the opponent's arm right on the way causing your
46:23opponent to go face down that will limit his abilities to move around and actually fight you back
46:29and finish the job be extremely careful using these techniques we're demonstrating these techniques
46:45with a real knife however i would definitely recommend you to start using plastic knife a rubber knife
46:52or something that's not real or even a pencil or piece of wood for you to actually learn the techniques
46:58before you're actually executing them with a live blade because the way you think has to change once
47:09you're right in front of the live blade because now it's not the matter of getting hurt a little bit
47:16a bruise here or there it's a matter of your life and one more most important thing about the street
47:22fighting having a knife involved is your priorities
47:30another knife technique notice that i'm in this one we actually redirecting the hand out
47:37when he strikes we redirecting it pulling him out out of the way using the same circular motion by sweeping
47:46his legs let's look at this one together sweep the back leg right away grab the hand you want to
47:53check
47:53the elbow kill the arm by breaking the elbow hook around the neck and finish him off let's look at
48:01this
48:09one together notice most of the attention is on the knife because we're practicing with a live blade
48:22you're going right for his elbow taking the knife out and cut around the body
48:32let's look at that one together one more time slow motion follow the steps stepping out of the way
48:39redirecting the hand circular motion strike to back of the leg cause your opponent to go down
48:48right away control the hand get a hold of the knife
48:54go right slightly above the elbow causing your opponent to go stomach down again place the left leg
49:02over the shoulder make sure that arm does not come up to cut you again hook around the neck
49:09to cause so much pain did the opponent forget about the knife
49:15take the knife out and finish the job
49:38just look at this one again
49:42the most important thing is killing the hand that's holding the knife
49:56notice stepping out of the way complimenting his move not blocking it
50:06take the opponent down switch the grip of the cane get a hold of the wrist step out of the
50:16way
50:18and stomp on that arm
50:51now we're going over overhand strike
50:59let's look at this one together
51:06the opponent steps in
51:10the cane actually wraps around the opponent's hand and arm and forearm causing him to go straight down
51:19step by step actually blocking the forearm with your own forearm
51:27having total control over the knife and the hand that's holding it
51:34so high block go under the opponent's arm
51:38in a circular motion taking him down and always end up with that knife
51:47let's look at it together in slow motion
51:53step out of the way and get out of the way of the knife
51:58strike down towards the bicep
52:01that's very important you're striking towards that bicep to kill the arm again
52:06once you kill the arm now you have more versatility to move around with your opponent
52:12try to keep an eye on the knife make sure it doesn't move around and cut you
52:30and finish the job
52:32and finish the job
52:42let's look at this one together
52:44hooking around the arm and straight down
52:56be extremely careful practicing these techniques
53:07so
53:17you
53:18you
53:18you
53:18you
53:46On this last technique,
53:49we're going back to the punch defenses again. Notice that I'm redirecting the
53:54hand with the cane this time, not so much my hand. Wrap around the arm, causing your opponent
54:01to go straight down. It's been a pleasure working with you and covering all these exciting
54:13cane techniques in this videotape. I'm looking forward to working with you again in my other
54:20tapes that's available through Panther Production on all the self-defense techniques, kicking,
54:26and all other aspects of Hapkido. I want you to pay attention very carefully to these techniques
54:33and practice them very hard. I hope you had a good time and a good learning experience.
