08:41The palm strike can also come to the temple.
08:45As Eric strikes me with this inside hand, I can run straight down his arm and strike
08:53into the side of his head.
09:03The second hand.
09:05technique is a spear hand. You form this up by straightening all your fingers out, laying
09:11your forefinger over your middle finger, lining up your ring finger with it, and pulling these
09:17so that it becomes one fingertip. I then lay my thumb up underneath this. My hand is tight,
09:25my forearm is supple. I strike, I strike off the fingertips. The first technique came from
09:35the double inside block again. I put this, brought this spear hand up and struck Eric directly
09:42in the side of the head. I have to have my forearm in line with this or the power doesn't
09:48go
09:48into the side of his head. It's knocked him down straight to the side. You can also do
09:55this technique through your other hand here. I'm off the inside hand and it lines up very
10:01nicely into the side of the head. Another nice spot for this spear hand is right here
10:11at the base of the throat. You have a little hollow at the top of your sternum. It's called
10:16the jugular notch. It hates to be hit. You can throw the same technique into the jugular
10:25notch from the opposite hand or from the inside. With this strike, I'm going to form my hand
10:43up so that my center knuckle on my middle finger is my striking point. I do that by lying the
10:50first two fingers, my middle finger and my forefinger across my palm and locking down
10:55with my thumb. I'll then lock my thumb over with my ring finger and middle finger. When
11:00I squeeze my hand, this knuckle becomes supported in my striking point. One of my favorite places
11:09to go with this is just dead center in the chest and the sternum. And that was the technique
11:13we did just a little earlier. As Eric punches me, I double inside block again. I'll strap
11:20his foot, form my hand up as I hit his chest. And as I hit, I'm going to screw this
11:25into his
11:26chest. I'm going to knock you down this one. Okay? So as I screw this into his chest, it'll
11:31drop him down. With this strike, I'm going to form my hand into what we call a long thumb
11:44position. I'm just going to fold my fingers in and lay my thumb down along the top of my
11:50hand. When I strike with the tip of my thumb, I'm going to dig the thumb in and turn into
11:57the
11:58strike so the tip of my thumb lines up with the center of my forearm on this plane and
12:04on this plane. When Eric punched at me before, with your right hand this time, I over cupped
12:12the block, which you've seen in the fire volumes, and I moved in 45 degrees next to him and asked
12:19him to lift his arm so you can see what I'm about to do. I form up the long thumb
12:23and I lay
12:24that right on top of his floating ribs. And from there, I'll push the rib down and turn
12:35into it so that it drops his hips towards the floor.
12:48For this strike, I'm going to use a short thumb strike. My hand's going to form up the same
12:53way as it did for long thumb. I'm going to pull my thumb up so that it's supported from
13:00the knuckle after the tip. This is used for digging in and lifting from the pressure point.
13:06Our favorite pressure point for that is underneath the jaw and the submandibular glands.
13:11So when Eric struck me before, I over cupped the block, stepped into him, formed my hand
13:17up coming up and underneath his jawline and pushed straight up, started to raise him straight
13:22up, and after a while he'll lose his balance and he'll drop.
13:25So who are you?
13:54My idol!
16:26As Eric throws at me, I'll block him with an extended, a reaching block on the inside.
16:35I'll position my foot so that when I pull my hips up over it, it's ideal for a sweep.
16:40As he throws the second hand, I'm going to pick up on that, let my hips cruise forward and
16:46scribe an arc into his instep with my instep.
17:00In this next exercise, I'm going to have Eric grab my belt.
17:05I'm just going to do that and decide that I'm going to turn to him.
17:10Standing in place, I'm going to turn around and look at Eric and clear his hand.
17:17I'm going to keep contact with his arm by raising my hand up in the back of his arm.
17:22I'm going to step around behind him, reaching around to where his neck and shoulder come
17:31together on the opposite side.
17:41And here, after I grab that, I feel his hips drop a little bit.
17:45I'm going to sweep into his instep from behind and lay him down.
17:58In this technique, we're going to use the same rear-sweeping motion, only this time it's
18:03going to come off a punch.
18:05I'm going to be able to get behind Eric when he lunges at me by reaching across the block
18:11and letting him travel through.
18:12I'll just step behind, again, controlling his arm so he doesn't hit me with his elbow.
18:17I'm going to take, make that eagle claw sitting down into the motion, and then take the leg
18:23out with a sweep.
18:32By changing my footwork on the last sweep, the rear sweep from the punch, I can actually
18:38move my body through Eric's punch and sweep his opposite leg.
18:43We'll do this slowly when we talk to him.
18:45In a quiet instance, as Eric lunges at me, we'll do the same reaching block as a cross-step
18:51through the block.
18:55I'm going to reach with this hand on the back of Eric's neck.
18:59As I straighten myself out and step through, I'm in position to pull down on that pressure
19:07point and kick the opposite leg out.
19:18In volume three, you learned how to do a crank flip.
19:22That started this way.
19:24Punch, under cupping block, and a 45-degree step.
19:28You get to this flipping motion.
19:30All we have to add to that to create crank, flip, and sweep is step across.
19:37I'll step into Eric.
19:38I'll step across him.
19:40I'm getting ready for the flip.
19:42So when I start to crank him down, I'll lift this leg with my leg.
19:46I'm getting to turn over.
19:48Doing this slowly, under cupping block, step across, set up the crank flip, and then lift
19:56the leg.
19:58That'll boost the body weight.
20:08Let's have Paul do the sweeps to Elaine and see what occurs.
20:13First is a double-handed grab on the lapels.
20:17You're going to under cupping one of her hands.
20:20Step underneath that same arm and lift with your hip.
20:24Reach up to her collar.
20:26Pull that collar to your hip as you sweep through.
20:31Go ahead and do it.
20:35Good.
20:41The second movement was the same kind of sweep from a double punch.
20:46So you sweep the foot from the first punching arm.
20:53Okay?
20:53Feel how you messed your foot?
20:55I'm going to show you why.
20:58You're making yourself short because Elaine's shorter than you.
21:01When she punches, you crapped and you made yourself short.
21:07And here, your hips aren't in the sweep, so your foot couldn't reach her.
21:13As she punches, no matter what her height is, you have to pull your hips up into the sweep
21:19so that you can catch her foot.
21:23Okay?
21:24Try it again.
21:31Much better.
21:35The next motion was a behind-the-belt grab.
21:38So she'll turn around.
21:40Elaine will grab you.
21:44You're going to stand up tall and just turn around and clear her hand by dragging her arm.
21:49Okay?
21:49Control her arm.
21:50Step right around behind her.
21:53Pinch her neck.
21:54How are you going to sweep her?
21:56You've got to be behind.
21:58Okay?
21:58You've got to make that step.
22:04Big step.
22:05Now pull in and sweep.
22:07Good.
22:08That'll look good.
22:09Now we're going to access that from a punch.
22:12It's going to be a reaching, crossing block.
22:14You're going to reach through the block with the back of your hand.
22:18And then step behind her in the same sweep.
22:24Good.
22:25Good motion.
22:28Now I'm going to have you change your footing.
22:31Same crossing block.
22:33But when you block, cross step.
22:37And come around behind and sweep the opposite leg.
22:47Good motion.
22:52Okay.
22:53You guys know the undercupping block and the crank flip.
22:56I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:11I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:15I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:16I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:17I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:17I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:17I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:18I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:18I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:18I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:18I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:19I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:20I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:23I want you to set yourself up on that.
23:34I want you to set yourself up on that.
26:15In this technique, we're going to incorporate an inside block with a lateral fade instead
26:21of a rear fade.
26:22So when Eric punches me, my fade's going to look like this.
26:25I'm going to fade along the line of his arm and try to shift his weight to the outside
26:31edge of his near foot.
26:34To that, I'm going to add a hammer heel technique to the back of his thigh.
26:39So when I come here, I'm going to throw my leg forward and then contacting with my heel right
26:45on the hamstring.
43:01Good.
49:43He's very weak.
51:37Good.
