00:00The discussion around the breakfast shed remains at this time that the entity is owing the Urban Development Corporation around
00:07$1.8 million in rent.
00:09The breakfast shed, on the other hand, claims that it is being owed over $2 million in electricity due to
00:15UD Court's wrong classification of the building to TNTech.
00:18The latter is a matter which the Regulated Industries Commission is looking into.
00:23TV6 News contacted Executive Director of the RIC, Dr. Michelle Salandi, to get an update on where the RIC has
00:30reached in the process.
00:32So the issue regarding this matter, as you would have noted, is currently under, yes, the review of the RIC,
00:38yeah?
00:38Yes.
00:39However, we do not disclose customer information publicly.
00:47So I know that you would want to get some further information or details on this matter.
00:52But the one that is, it's the customer which we don't disclose that information.
00:58Dr. Salandi clarifies that when the review is completed, the RIC will correspond with the breakfast shed pertaining to its
01:05findings and recommendations, if any.
01:08She adds that TNTech will also be kept in the loop as to the findings.
01:12In terms of review, we respond to both the utility and the customer.
01:17And in both cases, the customer will be aware of where the process is and how, if there's any additional
01:25information and that sort of thing, the customer's also made aware.
01:29So they are fully, there's full disclosure in the RIC's proceedings.
01:33Right.
01:34How far would you say that the RIC is from completing the investigation?
01:42At this time, I wouldn't provide that information.
01:46Meanwhile, Udicot has responded to a letter sent by the newly installed board of the Femme du Chalet Cooperative Society.
01:52That letter called for urgent discussion on the way forward and highlighted objectives of changing the operational structure of the
02:00breakfast shed.
02:01Udicot's response, dated March 31st, acknowledges receipt of the letter.
02:06But the corporation would only say that it, quote,
02:09will continue to exercise all available options in alignment with prudent management and governance of the corporation's affairs, end quote.
02:18Vendors at the breakfast shed have been given until April 30th to vacate the premises.
02:23Calls for government intervention, including from Prime Minister Kamala Passat-Bissassar, Minister of Labour Leroy Batiste,
02:30and Works and Infrastructure Minister Jolene John have so far yielded no response.
02:36Udicot has also not indicated whether it plans to facilitate a meeting with a cooperative society or the friends of
02:43the breakfast shed group.
