00:00What makes a house a home?
00:04Homes full of style and character
00:05are competing for the title of
00:07Home of the Year.
00:09Making the tough decisions are
00:11design legend Hugh Wallace.
00:14Have the three of us ever been so
00:16in tune?
00:17It's early in the day Amanda,
00:19let's keep going.
00:21Award winning architect Amanda Bone.
00:23Oh my god, seriously.
00:24There's so many things in this home
00:26that I don't want to admit that I like.
00:28And award winning design consultant
00:30Siobhan Lahm.
00:31Look at this.
00:33This is pure bliss.
00:35And this year, it's not just their scores
00:38that they'll have to decide.
00:40After the winner of the episode is revealed,
00:42we'll get a chance to use our golden key
00:44for one of the runners up.
00:45Three golden keys, three judges.
00:48Let's see who picks what.
00:51The search continues
00:53for Ireland's Home of the Year.
00:58Marie and Jo and their daughter Emily
01:00moved into this Georgian-style home
01:02in West Cork
01:03after living in Germany for 25 years.
01:06So it's nearly a year since we moved in.
01:08And it's changed quite a bit
01:10compared to the first day here.
01:12It's lovely to get up in the morning.
01:14Every day is exciting.
01:15I'm an artist.
01:17I trained in set design
01:18at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin.
01:20The previous owners
01:21had a love of contemporary design
01:23that we don't share.
01:25And to make it more in line with our taste,
01:28we decided to go very gung-ho on the decor.
01:31Every room, we put our stamp, you know?
01:34Yeah.
01:34We couldn't find wallpapers
01:35that we really liked.
01:37So we thought we'd just paint them
01:39to suit our needs.
01:41This is our favourite spot,
01:43sitting on this lovely, comfortable old couch.
01:46It's just gorgeous at night.
01:48We have the fire lighting,
01:50the door closed,
01:50and the room embraces you with warmth.
01:53I feel at home sitting on this couch.
01:55I absolutely love it.
01:57I'd say it was worth it.
01:58Post.
01:59Post.
02:04The judges must now assess the home
02:06armed with only the basic facts
02:08about the property and its owners.
02:11Ah, this lovely bit of Georgiana.
02:15Even though this home
02:16was only built 20 years ago,
02:17it has a very traditional, classic feel.
02:20So I'm quite surprised
02:22by these overly ornate wall sconces.
02:24I wasn't expecting that.
02:25So I'm intrigued
02:26about what's going on inside.
02:36Well, we've definitely
02:39stepped back in time.
02:40We certainly have.
02:42Back to what era, I wonder?
02:44Actually, I do feel like
02:45I've walked into my grandmother's
02:47late 1950s house.
02:48There's that overall sense
02:49in terms of particularly
02:50the design of the stairs
02:51and the doors.
02:52But also I'm seeing bits and pieces,
02:54my parents are going to kill me,
02:55that reference my childhood
02:56growing up in the 70s and 80s.
02:58Look at the clock
02:59that's sitting on the table.
03:00I love it.
03:00I'm so relieved, Amanda,
03:03that you're now embracing the past
03:05with such happy memories
03:06of your childhood.
03:08Noticing rather than embracing.
03:10I'm certainly getting a sense
03:11of who these homeowners are.
03:12Their personality
03:13is all over the hallway.
03:15The only thing I'll say
03:16is I do not enjoy cream.
03:17The colour palette
03:18isn't enhancing the space
03:20like it could have.
03:22Onwards and upwards.
03:25Yeah, favourite spot.
03:28Wow.
03:29What a wonderful living room.
03:32Isn't this amazing?
03:34And you can see why
03:35it's their favourite spot
03:37surrounded by such beautiful objects.
03:40This is like a Spanish galleon.
03:43That's what I think
03:43I've walked into.
03:44This is, you know,
03:46a more intimate living area
03:47where it's all about conversing.
03:49Sitting here
03:50by the wood-burning stove,
03:52having a drink,
03:53chatting.
03:56And we have the dining room
03:58in gorgeous green.
04:00This green is great.
04:01It's really refreshing.
04:02I feel like it's cleansed
04:04my palette from the hall.
04:05That's actually hand-painted.
04:08Is it hand-painted
04:09onto a wallpaper?
04:10Yeah.
04:11It's beautiful.
04:12Isn't it just wonderful?
04:14There's definitely
04:14an artist in residence.
04:16And I think they're
04:17making the most of the home.
04:20A beautiful, big,
04:22bright and generous kitchen.
04:26I love the simplicity of it.
04:28It's so different
04:29to the rest of the home.
04:30Well, who'd have thought
04:31that you'd find me
04:32standing in a modern kitchen,
04:34looking back and yearning
04:35for the quirkiness
04:36that we experienced
04:37when we were walking
04:38through other parts
04:40of the home?
04:41You remember this, Amanda?
04:43I do.
04:44Oh, my God.
04:44You do? I remember this.
04:45There's so many things
04:46in this home
04:46that I don't want
04:47to admit that I like.
04:48The little lace-covered
04:50tissue boxes.
04:52But part of me
04:53kind of likes doilies
04:54and intricate things,
04:55and they are white.
04:56My mum used to make those.
04:58I used to knit tea cosies,
05:00brown tea cosies.
05:04You're too young, Siobhan.
05:08Oh, ha, ha, ha.
05:10Wow.
05:11Oh, my goodness.
05:12This is such a wild bathroom.
05:15It wouldn't be my personal choice,
05:17but I'm enjoying
05:18how playful it is.
05:19What they've done
05:20is upcycled
05:21and then created
05:22an art installation.
05:23I think it's just wonderful.
05:25I don't generally understand
05:27crazy WCs,
05:29but there's a logic,
05:30there's a rationale.
05:31I can feel
05:32the homeowner's hand
05:33in this room.
05:42Oh, my goodness.
05:46Don't you just love it?
05:48It's really exploded in here.
05:51I just love the swags
05:54and the little princess hat
05:56over the bed.
05:58It's totally over the top.
06:00It's just wonderful.
06:01It's definitely over the top, yeah.
06:04I don't know about the wonderful.
06:05There's no contrast.
06:07There's only one main colour,
06:09which is cream.
06:10Oh, my cream.
06:11I've enjoyed other rooms
06:12in the home
06:13where they have
06:13their own distinctive style
06:14and it's clear
06:15what it is in here,
06:16but it's just too much,
06:19isn't it?
06:19It's way too much, yeah.
06:25Oh!
06:26Ah!
06:28Oh, look at that.
06:29That's beautiful.
06:30Oh, wow.
06:31We've got a gorgeous floral mural
06:33here behind the bed
06:34and then florals
06:37absolutely everywhere else.
06:38This is kind of
06:39what I was expecting.
06:40from the other bedroom.
06:42In some ways,
06:42I feel like I'm in
06:43some sort of museum.
06:45For me,
06:45I find that slightly at odds
06:46with the idea
06:47of that being your home,
06:49but at the same time,
06:50it's enjoyable.
06:50To me,
06:51this room bring those memories
06:52back of my parents.
06:54It's so much fun.
06:55It's not to my taste,
06:56but it's theirs
06:58and they've gone for it.
07:00The home will now
07:01be marked out of ten.
07:02One score will be held back
07:03until the judges
07:04have seen all three homes
07:06when their combined scores
07:07will be revealed.
07:09This home feels like
07:10nostalgic journey
07:11through time.
07:11At first,
07:12the entrance hall felt confusing,
07:14but as I moved
07:15through the home,
07:16the intent became clearer.
07:18Each room
07:19has its own theme
07:20and often expressed
07:21in an overstated manner.
07:23However,
07:24the main bedroom's
07:25Rococo theme
07:25was excessive
07:26and would benefit
07:27from some restraint.
07:28I'm giving this home
07:29a seven.
07:32The homeowner's creative
07:33passion and talent
07:35shines through
07:36in this unconventional
07:38masterpiece.
07:39Looking around the home
07:40reminded me of my childhood.
07:42I'm thrilled
07:43to give this home
07:44a ten.
07:45I enjoyed the artistic
07:47flair throughout this home,
07:48but these creative moments
07:50were overshadowed
07:51by an excess of patterns,
07:52detailing,
07:53lace,
07:53and tassels.
07:57Karen and her fiancé,
07:58Paul,
07:59live in this Dublin apartment.
08:00This is the first time
08:01I've ever, I guess,
08:02done any type of interiors
08:04because I've rented
08:04for years.
08:05So as soon as I bought
08:06this place,
08:07I really kind of wanted
08:08to just get stuck
08:10into designing it
08:11because I've always loved
08:12interior design.
08:13We actually painted
08:14the entire apartment
08:15one colour
08:15and then we just added
08:17in different textures
08:18and loads of soft furnishings
08:20in the different rooms
08:20depending on kind of
08:21their function.
08:22I feel like the apartment
08:24is a really calm space
08:25because you don't have
08:26any, you know,
08:27strong colours
08:28or patterns in particular
08:29hitting you when you come in.
08:30It's lovely and bright
08:31and open
08:32and it really does
08:33separate you from the city
08:35but then you still have
08:35the beautiful views
08:36of the city.
08:37So this is our favourite spot
08:39here in our guest bedroom.
08:41This is primarily
08:42our work from home space.
08:44It's quiet
08:44and allows you to
08:45concentrate and focus
08:46but also we needed
08:47a spare bedroom
08:48so we have a day bed
08:49and it also then serves
08:50as a place for us
08:52to work out in as well.
08:53We obviously live
08:54in a small apartment
08:55so it was really important
08:56that we found a space
08:57that could have
08:58that multifunctional use.
09:00I definitely am nervous
09:01about the judges coming in.
09:03One of their main criticisms
09:04will probably be
09:05that there isn't much colour
09:08and that it could be cluttered.
09:10I won't rely on that.
09:11I'll probably take it personally
09:12if they don't like it
09:12but they're the experts
09:13so we'll see.
09:19Wow.
09:21I did not expect this at all.
09:24But that's what's so great
09:25about apartments.
09:26You never know what
09:27you're going to find
09:27when you walk inside the door
09:28and when you find something
09:29like this,
09:30this is about making the most.
09:32They've got everything.
09:33Living room,
09:34your dining table,
09:35your kitchen
09:36and somehow,
09:37you know,
09:38it doesn't feel that cramped.
09:39Look at the sheer scale
09:41of this kitchen.
09:42You know,
09:43I'm fascinated
09:43by the amount of storage.
09:45Look at this.
09:46Look.
09:47Isn't that great?
09:48There's your utility room.
09:49Wow.
09:50Oh, all in one.
09:52Lovely smell of freshness
09:54in there.
09:54I want to open the rest now.
09:55Yeah.
09:58Your larder.
09:59Oh, how wonderful.
10:00And this little dining area
10:02is sweet, isn't it?
10:03It's clever.
10:04I'm taken with the atmosphere
10:06that these homewriters
10:07have created.
10:08It's like a retreat.
10:09We're in the Hamptons
10:10all of a sudden.
10:11We're in our seaside cottage
10:14and yet it's spacious,
10:15it's bright.
10:17The layering that they've done
10:18in this room
10:18in terms of, like, texture,
10:19in terms of tactility
10:21is extraordinary.
10:22The backdrop to this living room
10:25is stunning.
10:26Looking out onto the skyline
10:29of New Dublin.
10:30It is so cozy.
10:34Sitting here,
10:36it's hard to believe
10:37I'm in an apartment.
10:38You know, to have a room
10:40at this scale
10:41in the city center
10:42is just quite extraordinary.
10:45The amount of different layers
10:46and textures and tones
10:48that these homeowners
10:48have brought together,
10:49it's just incredible.
10:51And everywhere I look,
10:52it's so obvious
10:53that the homeowner
10:54has been considered
10:54with the materials that they're...
10:56Like, look at this table lamp.
10:57That's like a jute rope table lamp.
10:59I don't even know
11:00where this homeowner
11:01has gone to get something like that.
11:03The great thing about this home
11:05is there isn't a platter
11:06of stuff on the walls.
11:08Everything's been considered.
11:10Dare I say it?
11:11Have the three of us
11:12ever been so in tune
11:14in a home?
11:15We're all so zen.
11:17It's early in the day, Amanda.
11:19Let's keep going.
11:30Ah, quite a spacious bathroom.
11:33It's a good layout.
11:34You've got natural light.
11:35But there's one thing for me
11:36that's standing out
11:37and that's the storage.
11:38I agree with you, Amanda.
11:40The colour really stands out.
11:42And from a stylistic point of view,
11:45I could be in
11:46an entirely different apartment.
11:48Well, I think they're very lucky
11:49to have such a spacious shower room
11:52with natural light and windows.
11:57Oh!
11:58The homeowner's favourite spot?
12:00Home?
12:02How yummy is this?
12:05I can work from home
12:07and look at my view.
12:09Well, I mean, look.
12:10It's that view
12:10that the homeowners
12:11have focused on.
12:13It's a perfect position
12:14for the favourite spot.
12:16The colour tones that we've seen
12:17in the living room
12:18are brought in here.
12:20Even better,
12:20I have a day bed.
12:21Terrific cushions.
12:23Again, that calmness
12:25and simplicity
12:25that we've seen elsewhere
12:27carried through to here.
12:28You have the storage.
12:29You have the sofa.
12:30You have a workstation.
12:31You have your home gym.
12:33You have your library.
12:34It's about clever design
12:35because every wall
12:36is doing something.
12:41It's the bedroom.
12:44Ooh!
12:46Well, I think it's terrific.
12:48The colour tones
12:49and essence continues.
12:51Now, the floor in here
12:52is a darker colour
12:54and I'm not quite sure
12:56why, funnily enough.
12:58But overall,
12:58this is a yummy main bedroom.
13:01I think you're spot on here
13:02in terms of the flooring.
13:04If the homeowners
13:04had brought that lighter oak
13:06into the main bedroom,
13:08it just would have had
13:09a better flow.
13:10I really enjoy
13:11certain elements of this room.
13:13That cabinet is delicious.
13:14But that armchair
13:15and that side table,
13:16it just jars for me.
13:18There's something
13:18that's niggling at me
13:19in this room.
13:20It feels too curated.
13:22There's one thing
13:23in particular
13:23that is setting me off
13:25and that's the use
13:26of the books.
13:26There's a trend
13:27that you see everywhere now
13:28where books are used
13:29as props.
13:30They're placed on the flat
13:31and then you have elements
13:33sitting on them.
13:34It feels a bit staged.
13:35Staged.
13:36It's staged.
13:36That's the word.
13:37This is not staged.
13:39Personally,
13:39I do put books
13:41on the flat.
13:42So do I.
13:42This to me
13:43is a really good example
13:45of how you can take
13:46an old apartment
13:47and reimagine it
13:49into something
13:50very special
13:51and I think
13:51that's what
13:52these homeowners
13:53have done.
13:54When I walked
13:55into this apartment,
13:56I got an immediate
13:57sense of respite.
13:58Every element
13:59is thoughtfully considered.
14:00The open plan layout
14:01is well designed
14:02and creates a spacious,
14:04light-filled
14:05and comfortable atmosphere.
14:06But for me,
14:07the bedroom feels
14:08overly curated.
14:09I'm giving this home
14:10a nine.
14:12The homeowners
14:13have created
14:14a warm, inviting atmosphere
14:16through their use
14:16of earthy colour tones,
14:18expert layering
14:19of textures and fabrics,
14:20thoughtful styling
14:21and clever zoning.
14:22For me, though,
14:23there is a disconnect
14:24between the main living area
14:25and the rest of the home.
14:26The flooring choice changes.
14:28So, too,
14:28does the atmosphere,
14:29flow and attention to detail.
14:31Overall, though,
14:32this is a restful,
14:33stylish home.
14:34I give it an eight.
14:36The homeowners
14:37have zoned the space beautifully,
14:39creating a real sense of flow.
14:41The restrained design style
14:43is considered refined
14:45and divine.
14:46To be honest,
14:47I'm a bit envious.
14:50I think this is the correct detail.
14:52I like this detail.
14:53I don't think it is.
14:54Well, you know,
14:55thankfully,
14:55we don't live together.
14:59In County Armagh,
15:01architect Catherine
15:02and her husband Sean
15:03designed this contemporary house
15:04to maximise
15:05the surrounding beauty
15:06and create a happy home
15:08for their family.
15:09So the home
15:10is tucked in
15:11under the landscape.
15:12The wildflower
15:13floods down
15:14the side elevations
15:16and changes seasonally
15:18so the house
15:18is effectively
15:20growing and changing
15:21all the time.
15:22I wanted something
15:23that was still very fluid
15:25inside-outside
15:26but also something
15:27that can be warm
15:28and cosy.
15:29With two wee children
15:30running about,
15:30it can be chaos
15:32to say the least.
15:33But when it comes to lit
15:34on a good day
15:35and you open these sliders
15:37and they're going
15:38in and out
15:38in their wee bicycles,
15:40going through
15:40the whole process,
15:41it makes it worth it.
15:44This is my favourite spot.
15:47It's somewhere
15:48where myself and Sean
15:49can come
15:50when we get the kids
15:50down the bed,
15:51somewhere to unwind,
15:53have a glass of wine
15:54or a cup of tea
15:54and just enjoy the scenery.
15:57As an architect,
15:58I'm well used
15:59to being critiqued
16:01and I don't mind it.
16:02I think a house
16:03is so personal,
16:04you know,
16:05this would not be
16:06everyone's cup of tea
16:07but I love it.
16:08You know,
16:09I love it.
16:13Wow,
16:13it looks spectacular.
16:16What a dramatic backdrop
16:18for this very unique
16:20and individual house.
16:22I sort of have
16:23one house at the bottom
16:24covered in stone
16:25and I have another house
16:26on top.
16:27Look at this landscape.
16:28It is magnificent.
16:30We're in the mountains.
16:31I think the design
16:32of this home
16:33has been influenced
16:33by its surroundings.
16:35Well,
16:35will we go in?
16:41Goodness,
16:42look at the scale
16:42and size
16:44of this entrance hall
16:45and Amanda,
16:46it's all in white.
16:48Well,
16:48if you look
16:49at the colour tones
16:50on the outside,
16:50they're kind of neutral
16:52greys and blacks
16:53and you walk in here
16:54and the same colour tone
16:56has followed us,
16:56particularly in terms
16:57of the stair
16:58and, yeah,
16:59white walls.
17:00Yeah, I know,
17:01but look at that pink.
17:02Isn't that absolutely gorgeous?
17:04You know,
17:05it's kind of indicating
17:05that these homeowners
17:06might be playing
17:07with more colour
17:08throughout the home
17:09so I'm excited.
17:11I'm excited to explore.
17:12I know,
17:12I know,
17:13I know,
17:13but look,
17:13when we were walking up,
17:14wasn't it clear to you
17:15that there was
17:16a great consideration
17:16given how this home
17:17slots into the landscape
17:19and you have that
17:20on the outside
17:20but when you walk in here,
17:22you don't.
17:23I'm standing here,
17:25we know it at an upper level
17:26but there's no visual connection
17:28and I'm not saying
17:29you need a huge
17:30double height space
17:30but even a subtle one.
17:32It's quite clear
17:33where the staircase is
17:35to go upstairs.
17:36You can't see upstairs.
17:38I'm not talking about upstairs.
17:39It's seeing upstairs.
17:40Sorry, a staircase
17:41to go upstairs.
17:42That's down to my toilet.
17:44I have a visual connection
17:45to the gardens outside
17:47so I think we're
17:49to go this way.
17:53Wow.
17:54Our blush pink
17:57continues in here.
17:59Beautiful finish,
18:01isn't it?
18:01Oh wow.
18:02Great contrast
18:03and I think the pink
18:04with the brass handles
18:06is perfect.
18:08It's a really nice
18:09spacious kitchen.
18:10I mean the white countertop
18:11is lovely and fresh
18:13and I really love
18:14this open shelving detail.
18:15There's not too much on it.
18:17And I'm going to ask you
18:18both a question
18:18about kitchens
18:19because it really comes home
18:20to me standing
18:21in this home.
18:22New built, contemporary.
18:23This style of kitchen
18:24isn't a contemporary kitchen
18:26so what is it doing
18:27in this home?
18:27This is a contemporary kitchen.
18:29It's not you.
18:30So what's your opinion?
18:31That's not a contemporary
18:33detail.
18:33It is a contemporary.
18:34I think this is
18:35the correct detail.
18:36I like this detail.
18:37I don't think it is.
18:38Well, you know,
18:39thankfully
18:40we don't live together.
18:41No.
18:42Because we're very lucky.
18:42That would be terrible.
18:44For me
18:45there's contradictions
18:46everywhere.
18:47You're entitled
18:48to your opinion
18:49and these homeowners
18:50are entitled
18:51to theirs.
18:52If you want
18:53to both styles
18:54in your home
18:54go for it.
18:55It's your home.
18:58Those views
18:59are incredible.
19:02Look at that
19:03corner window.
19:04It feels like
19:04the mountain
19:05is in your living room.
19:06And I love
19:07this art piece.
19:08It's the right tone
19:08for the room.
19:09You've got those
19:09beautiful greens.
19:10There's also those
19:11pinks from the kitchen.
19:12They have 12
19:14downlights in here,
19:15two wall lights
19:16and one standard lamp.
19:17But I'm relying
19:18on the downlights
19:19in this room
19:20to give me light
19:21and I shouldn't be.
19:22What would be lovely
19:23here is a console
19:24and that you
19:25can actually
19:26have lamps.
19:27Exactly.
19:32The main bedroom.
19:34It's like being
19:34in a meadow.
19:35The lovely thing
19:36about this room
19:37is there's no wardrobe.
19:38This room
19:39is about the bed.
19:40I have my
19:41reading lamp
19:42and the obligatory
19:44pendant
19:44then arrives
19:45in the room.
19:46And because
19:47the bed's
19:48off centre
19:49the pendant
19:50is now
19:51in the wrong
19:51location.
19:52This room
19:53should have
19:53had no pendant
19:54and relied
19:54much more
19:55on lamps.
19:56I actually
19:56think this
19:57is a magical
19:57room and it's
19:58because of this
19:59connection to the
20:00outside.
20:01I don't know
20:01if there's a
20:02disconnect for me.
20:03Perhaps it is
20:03that mishmash
20:04of styles,
20:06the more
20:06traditional
20:07heavy headboard,
20:08the rug.
20:09It's neither here
20:10nor there in terms
20:11of the colours.
20:12It's a very
20:13cosy room
20:14full of lovely
20:15tactile materials
20:15but for me
20:16there's just
20:16a little disconnect.
20:25Oh, look
20:27at this.
20:29This is pure
20:30bliss.
20:31Blue skies,
20:33nature,
20:33wild, lush
20:34planting,
20:35no hint of
20:36civilisation
20:37anywhere.
20:37It is just
20:39bliss.
20:39I love the way
20:40it's not manicured.
20:42Yeah.
20:42You know,
20:43there'd be a
20:43temptation to put
20:44a solid surface
20:46here because
20:47they'd just
20:47let it go.
20:48So can you
20:49imagine all
20:49the bumblebees
20:50and pollinators
20:52that are so
20:53happy out here?
20:54This to me
20:55is absolute
20:56freedom.
20:56I just want
20:57to take my
20:57shoes off.
20:58I want to run
20:58around,
20:59I want to spin
20:59around.
21:00Well, off you
21:00go, darling.
21:01Your shoes.
21:05We've lost her
21:05now, Hugh.
21:06She's gone.
21:07Gone for good.
21:08Bye-bye, Amanda.
21:09Bye-bye.
21:10Bye-bye.
21:12The homeowners
21:13have maximised
21:15the connection
21:15between the
21:17interiors and
21:18the dramatic
21:18landscaping with
21:20great effect.
21:21The use of
21:22ceiling lights
21:23is excessive.
21:24More wall
21:24lights and lamps
21:25would provide
21:26a better solution.
21:28I scored this
21:28home an 8.
21:31The homeowners
21:32have created a
21:32comfortable and
21:33harmonious family
21:34home.
21:35Their subtle
21:35use of colour,
21:36particularly pink,
21:38is fun and
21:38impactful, though
21:39I will say it
21:40left me wanting
21:41more.
21:42More colour,
21:43more contrast.
21:43I'm giving this
21:45home an 8.
21:47The homeowners
21:48have clearly put
21:49a lot of thought
21:50into how this
21:50home sits within
21:51its natural
21:52surroundings and
21:53the immediate
21:53landscaping, and
21:54that's what makes
21:55this home different
21:56and gives it a
21:57strong sense of
21:58place.
22:01Now that the
22:02judges have
22:02visited all three
22:03homes, it's time
22:04to see how they
22:05measure up against
22:05each other.
22:06First, Siobhan
22:07reveals her score
22:08for the home in
22:09West Cork.
22:11What I really
22:11enjoyed about this
22:12home was the
22:13homeowners' artistic
22:14flair.
22:15However, when we
22:15walked into that
22:16hallway, the cream,
22:18the cream, I felt
22:20it dominated the
22:21space and it made
22:22it feel flat.
22:23I gave this
22:24home a 6.
22:25You did not.
22:26Absolutely.
22:27Ah, that's
22:28important.
22:29A 10, a 7,
22:31and a 6, 23.
22:33Next, Hugh
22:34reveals his score
22:35for the serene
22:36city centre
22:37apartment.
22:37These homeowners
22:38had created the
22:39most wonderful
22:40open-plan living,
22:41kitchen, dining
22:42area.
22:43It was white, it
22:44was crisp, it
22:45was calm, it
22:45was clean, the
22:46fabrics were
22:47terrific.
22:48I gave this
22:48apartment a 10.
22:50Ah, I think
22:50that's brilliant.
22:51Great score.
22:52So, an 8, a 9,
22:54and a 10, 27.
22:56Finally, Amanda
22:57reveals her score
22:58for the house in
22:59the hill in
22:59County Armagh.
23:00For me, the
23:01most enjoyable
23:02part of this
23:02home was the
23:03wildflower meadow
23:04garden.
23:05It actually just
23:05felt like it was
23:06a continuation
23:07of the surrounding
23:08landscape.
23:09However, saying
23:09that, this is a
23:10new-built home.
23:11I had expected
23:12and hoped for a
23:13progressive, modern
23:14design style
23:15throughout, and it
23:16didn't.
23:17I gave this home
23:18an 8.
23:19Three-eighths,
23:2024.
23:22So, that means
23:23our serene
23:24apartment is
23:25through to the
23:26finals.
23:27Is anyone going
23:28to use their
23:29golden key?
23:30Me.
23:31Kelser-preeze.
23:32Oh, yes!
23:35There we go.
23:36I think it's just
23:38the most wonderful
23:39home.
23:40Good for you.
23:41Two great homes
23:42into the final.
23:43Very exciting.
23:45Yeah.
23:46The homes through
23:47to the final are the
23:48serene city apartment
23:49in Dublin and the
23:51creative home in
23:52West Cork.
23:53Next time on
23:54Home of the Year.
23:57Home of the Year.
24:25Home of the Year.
24:27Home of the Year.
24:27Home of the Year.
