00:00:03Welcome to the Great American Baking Show Holiday Special.
00:00:06Andrew, this is your first holiday show.
00:00:08I think we're going to impress the judges with our song.
00:00:11Oh, I have no doubts.
00:00:13Da-da-da-da-da-da!
00:00:14Sherry O'Terry is in the tent to whisper world-class jokes.
00:00:18Oliver Hudson is here as well, and he is one cool bloke.
00:00:21I have to be clear, Oliver Hudson's not British, but bloke rhymed with jokes, so he sort of felt like
00:00:24that worked.
00:00:26Oh, jeez, that's proud.
00:00:28Baron Davis, he shoots the hoop.
00:00:30Janelle James, she's such a goof.
00:00:32Because Baron plays basketball, and Janelle's a really funny actress.
00:00:35We're going to go.
00:00:36Okay, wait, wait, wait, guys, we have a big finish.
00:00:38Yeah, Paul, you take the low harmony, Prue, high octave.
00:00:40Here we go.
00:00:42Famous faces ready to bake.
00:00:45Competing for the paw handshake.
00:00:47I'll give you a handshake if you stop singing.
00:00:50Okay, yeah, yeah.
00:00:51Yeah, yeah, we'll take that.
00:00:52Great with that.
00:00:52He shook our hands, he didn't say no.
00:00:56Welcome to the Great American Holiday Baking Show.
00:01:03Guys, thank you.
00:01:04Happy holidays.
00:01:05They liked it.
00:01:06I think they did like it.
00:01:07They really liked it.
00:01:08Oh, can I put this on my reel?
00:01:11Oh, a London Christmas.
00:01:14Four celebrities are stepping into the festive white tent.
00:01:18What a romantic little cooking hut.
00:01:20I believe they call it a tent in London.
00:01:22To deck the halls and the ovens with holiday sweets.
00:01:26Oh, this is nice.
00:01:27Wow.
00:01:28Just like on the TV.
00:01:29Are we going to be on TV?
00:01:30Our celebrity bakers are actor and producer Oliver Hudson.
00:01:36My daughter and I have watched every single season of this show.
00:01:40And winning would complete my life.
00:01:43In fact, if I win this show, I'm just going to move to Windsor and just bake.
00:01:48What's this?
00:01:49That's it.
00:01:50That's your mixer, man.
00:01:51Okay.
00:01:52Making sure.
00:01:52Thinking about my recipe while they talk.
00:01:54That's what winners do.
00:01:55Emmy-nominated actor, comedian, and Abbott Elementary principal, Janelle James.
00:02:02My younger sister is a pastry chef.
00:02:04I hope to show her that she wasted her time going to school for this.
00:02:08That I did it without even practicing.
00:02:13Gosh, I haven't worn an apron since I worked at Sizzler.
00:02:17Actor, writer, and SNL legend, Sherry Oteri.
00:02:21I don't know the first thing about baking.
00:02:23But I've heard of baked goods.
00:02:26So, I got that going for me.
00:02:29Who's nervous?
00:02:30I might throw up.
00:02:31And two-time NBA All-Star point guard, Baron Davis.
00:02:35In basketball, like cooking, you control your own destiny.
00:02:38Unfortunately, the difference is people got taste.
00:02:41So, if it's nasty, uh-oh.
00:02:43I hope not.
00:02:47Happy holidays, everyone.
00:02:49Happy holidays.
00:02:51Hi.
00:02:52We were going to light up the tent, but apparently, Andrew couldn't find that one bad bulb.
00:02:57No, I'm trying.
00:02:59Did you try?
00:02:59I tried.
00:03:02Oh!
00:03:06Bakers, welcome to the Great American Baking Show Holiday Special.
00:03:11These two days will be filled with baking, merriment, and some good old-fashioned holiday stress.
00:03:17I'm Andrew Rannells, and this is Casey Wilson.
00:03:19And we are the carolers that you didn't ask for.
00:03:22And these two elves on a shelf are your judges.
00:03:25It's Paul Hollywood and Prue Leap.
00:03:28Hi, Paul.
00:03:28Hi, Prue.
00:03:30Hi, guys.
00:03:31For your first holiday challenge, Paul and Prue would like you to make ten stained glass cookie ornaments.
00:03:37Each cookie must have a candy glass window and be strung to hang on a tree.
00:03:42And in true holiday movie fashion, you also have to fall in love while learning the true spirit of Christmas.
00:03:49And you will have just two hours to do all of that.
00:03:52Woo!
00:03:53Here we go.
00:03:53All right.
00:03:54On your mark.
00:03:55Get set.
00:03:56Bake.
00:03:58Good.
00:03:59Okay.
00:04:01Let's go.
00:04:04Oh, God.
00:04:05Okay.
00:04:06Oh, my gosh.
00:04:09Perfect.
00:04:09I don't know what sifting does, but it looks professional, so I love it.
00:04:13Feeling like Martha Stewart over here.
00:04:15I'm just going to make sounds the whole time.
00:04:19Today's signature challenge for our celebrity bakers is a cookie, and we want it to really show off the holiday
00:04:26time.
00:04:27Good enough.
00:04:28One of the things they have to introduce to their cookie is a stained glass window.
00:04:32I'm whisking.
00:04:33I wish someone would whisk me away right now.
00:04:35You grind down the candy to a powder, pop it into the middle of the hole, bake it, and it
00:04:39melts the candy to form a glass that you can almost look through, and it works beautifully.
00:04:44You're going to get my zest on.
00:04:46You are pretty zesty.
00:04:48Absolutely not.
00:04:50The biscuit needs to be robust enough to hang on a Christmas tree.
00:04:55It shouldn't come out of the oven until it's biscuit-colored.
00:04:59Otherwise, it will be underbaked.
00:05:01I just want to warn everyone I'm turning this on.
00:05:03It's going to be quite tricky, but these are celebrity bakers.
00:05:06I've got to take that into consideration on my judging, and I'll be just as brutal as I normally am.
00:05:11Good morning, Janelle.
00:05:15Hi.
00:05:15Hello, Janelle.
00:05:16Hello, hello.
00:05:18Tell us all about your cookies.
00:05:20What are you doing?
00:05:20I am currently creaming the zest, and then I'm going to add the lemon juice.
00:05:26I'll take it to a lemon cookie, then.
00:05:27Yes, it is.
00:05:28Do you bake a lot?
00:05:29I do not.
00:05:30So you've not practiced?
00:05:31I have not.
00:05:32That's how I live life.
00:05:34You seem very confident.
00:05:35Bake it till you bake it.
00:05:37Okay.
00:05:37Okay.
00:05:40Janelle's holiday bows will feature a lemon shortbread cookie with green and red candied
00:05:45glass, garnished with a dollop of lemon-glazed icing for a bit of extra joy.
00:05:50Do you normally chill your day before you roll out your cookies?
00:05:54So I'm confused by the normally.
00:05:56Today I will.
00:05:59Look at Janelle talking away over there.
00:06:02How could she talk and do this at the same time?
00:06:04The judges are looking for perfectly baked cookies.
00:06:08And that all starts with allowing the dough plenty of time to chill.
00:06:12If it's not chilled enough, when it bakes, it like spreads out into a not good shape.
00:06:17I knew that already.
00:06:18No one told me.
00:06:19Good idea.
00:06:24This is the candy that makes the glass window.
00:06:28All right.
00:06:29All right.
00:06:30Good morning, Barron.
00:06:31Good morning, Barron.
00:06:33Now I'm nervous.
00:06:34So, Barron, tell us about your biscuits.
00:06:36My biscuits are going to be Christmas tree biscuits.
00:06:41I am crushing up boiled sweets.
00:06:44All different colors.
00:06:45All in different colors.
00:06:46I'm impressed.
00:06:46That sounds wonderful.
00:06:48Barron's Christmas tree lemon sugar cookies will feature a kaleidoscope of colored candy
00:06:53windows with a dusting of snowy sugar.
00:06:56Have you baked before?
00:06:58I have.
00:06:59When I was a kid with my grandma, I would watch her.
00:07:02And then now that I have a son, his name is L.A., and that's all he loves to do
00:07:06is bake.
00:07:07All right.
00:07:07Okay.
00:07:08So, son, come on, man.
00:07:10Root for me.
00:07:10Pray for me.
00:07:12This is obviously a tool I haven't used before, but no fear.
00:07:16The bakers must blitz their hard candies to a fine powder.
00:07:19A little bit of fear.
00:07:20How do you eat?
00:07:22To get that smooth, glassy window the judges are looking for.
00:07:26There we go.
00:07:27While most are going for a festive mix of colors.
00:07:30That's a little purple.
00:07:32Oliver has a very specific vision in mind.
00:07:35It's going to be clear, because when you put it up to your eye and you look through,
00:07:39you can see your future.
00:07:41Wow.
00:07:41The magic biscuits.
00:07:42So, it's more than a cookie.
00:07:44But it's a time machine.
00:07:47Oliver's hoping to see a Hollywood handshake through the clear glass window of his festive
00:07:52almond wreath cookies.
00:07:54Does your wife bake?
00:07:55No, but Kate does.
00:07:57My sister.
00:07:57Never heard of her.
00:07:58Never heard of her.
00:07:59Kate Hudson, she's been in a few things.
00:08:00Yes.
00:08:00So, when I told her I was doing this, she just said, don't make us look bad.
00:08:05As a family.
00:08:06You know, I've let them down enough.
00:08:07Any more than you have.
00:08:07Right.
00:08:08Exactly.
00:08:10Morning, Sherry.
00:08:11Hello, Sherry.
00:08:12Sherry.
00:08:13Are you a little bit nervous about today?
00:08:14I, can you tell?
00:08:16Do you ever bake at home?
00:08:17Is this something you do?
00:08:18No, no.
00:08:18I usually don't bake at home.
00:08:20I like to cook, but not bake.
00:08:23And I thought, Sherry, you know, accept the challenge.
00:08:28Sherry's molasses and cinnamon-infused ginger snap stars will see a festive hard candy window
00:08:34with a snowy coconut finish.
00:08:37Okay, so you're comfortable with what you're doing.
00:08:39You know what you're up to.
00:08:41Oh.
00:08:42Oh, wow.
00:08:43The glass would be interesting.
00:08:44Maybe just red.
00:08:45Or it could be, like, a surprise.
00:08:47One of the cookies has glass in it.
00:08:51Oh, my gosh.
00:08:55How's it going, Sherry?
00:08:56I broke one of the cups.
00:08:58That was apparently, uh, an heirloom.
00:09:02Bakers, you have one hour left.
00:09:04Yikes.
00:09:05Please don't call me a baker.
00:09:06You're a master baker.
00:09:08That's not for this show.
00:09:11With the clock ticking on the celebrity baker's signature stained glass cookie challenge,
00:09:16it's time to carefully roll their chilled dough.
00:09:19It's sticking.
00:09:20Good.
00:09:21I'm so glad you're getting this.
00:09:23You don't want to overdoe.
00:09:25It'll be doughy.
00:09:27Roll the dough too thick, and the cookies may not bake through.
00:09:31I'm going to have problems.
00:09:32I'm going to have to do it again.
00:09:34Too thin, and they could crisp up or burn before the centers are done.
00:09:39Uh-oh.
00:09:40It's kind of thin.
00:09:42My sister is actually a professional pastry chef.
00:09:46She is?
00:09:46She is.
00:09:47So does that make you want to bake less?
00:09:50Do you feel like that's her arena?
00:09:51Well, yeah, that's her arena.
00:09:53She's good at it.
00:09:54But she always talks about how hard it is, and I'm finding that she's a liar.
00:10:00You're finding it's pretty easy.
00:10:02I'm crushing.
00:10:04Now I'm about to do my shapes.
00:10:06All right, we're going in.
00:10:07First shape.
00:10:08I feel like a kid in art class.
00:10:11Oh, shoot.
00:10:12No, Prue.
00:10:14Uh-oh.
00:10:14I was going to put this one in, but you know what?
00:10:16Not perfection.
00:10:18Don't get to go.
00:10:19How you doing back there?
00:10:20It was smooth sailing, and then I hit a bump.
00:10:22Just, it's sticky, and it's making me a little nuts.
00:10:25Wouldn't be Christmas if everything was perfect.
00:10:30Janelle?
00:10:31Yep?
00:10:32Everything going okay?
00:10:33Even if it wasn't, I would lie.
00:10:35Cut out the window shape.
00:10:36I'm going to take out the center, and that's where I'm going to put my candy for the stained
00:10:41glass.
00:10:41This is where the mystery is going to take place.
00:10:45Perf.
00:10:46I just believe in myself, and things come together.
00:10:48I refuse to embarrass myself on London television.
00:10:51You know what I mean?
00:10:51I'm probably going to bake those, too.
00:10:53Why not?
00:10:53A little, a little, a little, a little, a little, you know?
00:10:58Some of them look great, and some of them look terrible, so I'm scared for my life.
00:11:03Wham!
00:11:03Right in the middle, man.
00:11:05It's just like shooting the jumper.
00:11:07Hi, Barron.
00:11:08Hi.
00:11:08How's it going over here?
00:11:10Do you feel nervous now?
00:11:11Yeah, I get nervous before anything.
00:11:14Including basketball?
00:11:15Basketball always.
00:11:16Yeah.
00:11:17Always.
00:11:17I have nerves, but I feel kind of like this is more therapeutic.
00:11:22Really?
00:11:23Like, I'm always moving around, you know, my kids, they be bothering me.
00:11:28Everybody bothers me, so.
00:11:30Yeah, including me.
00:11:31No, no, I'm good with this.
00:11:3430 minutes left, bakers.
00:11:37Oh, no, my candy dust.
00:11:41We got the green for apple.
00:11:43We got the strawberries.
00:11:45We got, like, a blue raspberry boiled candy.
00:11:48They may taste crazy, though, because I'm mixing all these damn flavors.
00:11:52It's very important that the shards don't go over the side of the cookie.
00:11:57Those look really good, man.
00:11:59And look, see these?
00:12:00What are those, little nuggets?
00:12:02They're earrings for broke.
00:12:05Trying to butter up the judges.
00:12:07That's right.
00:12:07These look great.
00:12:09And you know what?
00:12:10I don't miss the green.
00:12:11I love you for that.
00:12:12You know what?
00:12:13I hope they taste good.
00:12:14Who cares about that?
00:12:16Uh, Mr. Paul and Prue.
00:12:17Oh, well, speaking of, I have to do a time call.
00:12:21Although, you look like you're in great shape.
00:12:23Well, I work out.
00:12:24Oh, you mean the cookies.
00:12:28Bakers, you have 15 minutes.
00:12:31Jeez.
00:12:31It just got real.
00:12:33Going in.
00:12:34Let's get righteous.
00:12:38The Hudson Express, going in.
00:12:41As the judges are expecting the cookies to hang delicately on a tree, nailing the right
00:12:46bake time is critical.
00:12:48I'm going to look at them in eight minutes.
00:12:50I just want them to be crispy.
00:12:53I think it's better a little overdone than under, but I could be wrong.
00:12:57I want them to rise so they got a little crisp on the edge, you know?
00:13:01Let's go, cookies.
00:13:03Let's go.
00:13:05You know, kind of using some basketball strategy.
00:13:08I'm coaching my cookies up.
00:13:09It's on y'all.
00:13:10Let's go.
00:13:12Mr. Happy Pants back there.
00:13:14If he was any more laid back, he'd be dead.
00:13:16Not me.
00:13:17Let's see.
00:13:19I feel like they a little light.
00:13:20It's supposed to be dark, right?
00:13:22Better to overcook those than undercook them, because you want them to stop.
00:13:25All right, then I want one minute.
00:13:27Are they supposed to be crispy?
00:13:28Crispy, yes.
00:13:29Yours are?
00:13:30Well, you know, they browning up, bro.
00:13:32They looking good.
00:13:33See, you're good.
00:13:33I think I took mine out too early.
00:13:35Yeah, let them brown a little bit.
00:13:37Now buy no cookies.
00:13:38Five minutes left, bakers.
00:13:41Are these ready?
00:13:42I don't know, dude.
00:13:43I think I should take them out.
00:13:45Did I forget something?
00:13:46They still white.
00:13:48I hope they're crisp, because they're called snaps.
00:13:51Damn.
00:13:53Overcooked.
00:13:54How much time we got?
00:13:55One minute left, bakers.
00:13:57I got to figure it out.
00:13:57Each one is going to get icing and coconut.
00:14:02Oh, the first one is up.
00:14:04It's underbaked.
00:14:05I'm going to have problems hanging them.
00:14:08You see these bones?
00:14:09I'm so proud of myself.
00:14:11It's just going to break.
00:14:13It's not cooked enough.
00:14:14You going to hang them?
00:14:15I can't.
00:14:15They're falling everywhere.
00:14:17Don't do my dog like that.
00:14:21Bang!
00:14:22Got him.
00:14:22Bakers, this challenge has ended.
00:14:26Oh.
00:14:30This is me looking at the other contestants' tables.
00:14:33They look like pita chips.
00:14:41I couldn't be more proud of this cookie.
00:14:44But I wanted them to be a little more overcooked, so they snap.
00:14:48You know, because I could just hear Paul saying,
00:14:50it's called a ginger snap, not a ginger bend.
00:14:53Everybody's cookies look great.
00:14:55You know, they look like cookies you will see in the store.
00:14:58Mine looks like a homemade cookie.
00:15:01But it didn't break.
00:15:03I don't think I baked them long enough.
00:15:05It was hard to see the future because the cookie just crumbled.
00:15:10It was a glimpse.
00:15:11Oh, look.
00:15:13Hi, Oliver.
00:15:14Hi, Oliver.
00:15:15Tell us all about your cookies.
00:15:18It's an almond cookie.
00:15:19It's got a little lemon zest.
00:15:21It's a little window to your soul.
00:15:23This is all on purpose because they're snowflakes,
00:15:25and they have fallen.
00:15:27And then I've made some earrings for Prue.
00:15:30Oh, that's nice.
00:15:31Yeah.
00:15:32Is this the first time you've baked anything like this?
00:15:34Yes.
00:15:35I love the fact that they're not colored in the middle.
00:15:37That looks quite elegant.
00:15:39It's impressive.
00:15:39The idea of this was if you do look through,
00:15:42you can see into your future.
00:15:44Tell me what you see.
00:15:45Absolutely nothing.
00:15:46Nothing?
00:15:48I can see stars and shiny lights.
00:15:51Ooh.
00:15:52Oh, yeah.
00:15:53It picks up the nose.
00:15:55Yeah.
00:16:00And the bacon.
00:16:01I knew it.
00:16:01It has got lovely flavor to this.
00:16:03Even with the nuts on the top,
00:16:05it works really well,
00:16:06but it's about five minutes away.
00:16:07Yeah.
00:16:08The dough is nicely made.
00:16:09It's not overworked.
00:16:10If you'd baked it properly,
00:16:12it would have been perfect.
00:16:13Five minutes from perfection.
00:16:14That's my autobiography.
00:16:16Thank you, guys.
00:16:21I think you should be quite proud of yourself.
00:16:23You were so nervous at the beginning.
00:16:25I think you guys were nervous for me.
00:16:27The shape of the cookies are nice, actually,
00:16:29because you can see what they are.
00:16:30Interesting about the coconut stuck on the edges as well.
00:16:34It's snow.
00:16:35It's snow-conut.
00:16:36Exactly.
00:16:40It's a nice, tender gingerbread.
00:16:43I like the cookie itself,
00:16:44but it's underbaked.
00:16:45It needs longer.
00:16:46Coconut and ginger is an interesting thing
00:16:49because they don't often work together.
00:16:51But they did today.
00:16:52Yeah.
00:16:53Not keen on the coconut,
00:16:54and it just needed another five minutes,
00:16:56and I think you would have been onto something,
00:16:57but it's a nice biscuit.
00:16:59Very nice biscuit.
00:17:00Thank you.
00:17:06You know, I'm doing minimalism.
00:17:09Ah.
00:17:09Yeah.
00:17:10Let's see.
00:17:10Let's have a look.
00:17:15That is very lemony.
00:17:17Good.
00:17:17But not too much.
00:17:18No?
00:17:18Just a dollop of joy.
00:17:20No, it's delicious.
00:17:21I think they are a little.
00:17:22They're a little what?
00:17:23Delicious?
00:17:24They're underbaked.
00:17:25I like the flavor.
00:17:27It's just that you need another five,
00:17:28ten minutes and be spot on.
00:17:29So basically perfect.
00:17:34What are they talking about?
00:17:35What are they talking about?
00:17:41Well, I think they look delicious.
00:17:43They look quite caramelly.
00:17:44They are a bit burnt.
00:17:46I saw you rolling out your cookie,
00:17:48and they were very thin.
00:17:50Thin, yeah.
00:17:50And that's why it's burnt.
00:17:53It's so good.
00:17:56Oh, these are good.
00:17:58A little window is lovely and thin.
00:18:00And so it's like crackly caramel.
00:18:03It is burnt.
00:18:04But actually, it gives it a lot of character
00:18:06and a lot of flavor,
00:18:07so there's a lot of depth there.
00:18:08And it hangs beautifully.
00:18:10I think you've done a decent job.
00:18:11Oh, man.
00:18:12Thank you.
00:18:14Thank you so much.
00:18:18They were maybe a little overcooked,
00:18:20but my cookies you can leave out for Santa.
00:18:23And he's going to trust that
00:18:24because the cookies are brown.
00:18:25They look cooked.
00:18:26If Santa is rocking with the cookies,
00:18:29he ain't going to pass up that plate.
00:18:31That's all I worry about.
00:18:33I feel like because mine were almost perfection,
00:18:36you know what I mean?
00:18:36They had to go a little hard on me
00:18:37to make the other people feel okay.
00:18:42Do I feel confident going into the technical?
00:18:45Yes, I do.
00:18:46I feel like you knew the answer to that
00:18:47when you asked me.
00:18:55The holidays are full of surprises.
00:18:58And for our celebrity bakers,
00:19:00this next challenge will be no different.
00:19:04Bakers, it's time for the most stressful time
00:19:07of the holiday season,
00:19:08the technical challenge.
00:19:10This challenge was created by Prue.
00:19:12Prue, any words of wisdom?
00:19:13Yes, you'll think this is more complicated than it is.
00:19:17Just read the recipe and you'll be fine.
00:19:20Well, that's the gift that keeps on giving.
00:19:22Now, bakers, this is a blind challenge.
00:19:24So at this point,
00:19:25we would like to kindly ask Prue and Paul
00:19:27to exit the tent.
00:19:29They want to go make snow angels.
00:19:32The technical challenge is a lot like the holidays.
00:19:35It's very stressful, zero time,
00:19:37but everything was made better
00:19:38by that big holiday bonus we all got.
00:19:40That's right.
00:19:41You got a holiday bonus?
00:19:42I didn't get a bonus.
00:19:44That's weird.
00:19:45For this challenge,
00:19:46Prue is asking you all
00:19:47to make a classic Crancicaca.
00:19:50A what?
00:19:51Gesundheit.
00:19:51What?
00:19:52Crancicaca.
00:19:53It's a stunning tower
00:19:54of chewy pistachio cookie rings
00:19:56stacked and decorated
00:19:57to be your perfect holiday centerpiece.
00:20:00Seriously, you got a raise?
00:20:01Yeah, it was...
00:20:02Was it?
00:20:02Life-changing.
00:20:03Yeah.
00:20:04Each ring is precisely baked
00:20:06to give it its signature chewy texture,
00:20:08and you will have two hours
00:20:10and 15 minutes to chew on that.
00:20:12Mmm.
00:20:14On your marks,
00:20:15get set,
00:20:17bake!
00:20:19Ugh.
00:20:20All right.
00:20:21What the hell?
00:20:23I don't know what the Crancaca is.
00:20:27Yeah, I don't know what it is.
00:20:29Think that's some kind of, like,
00:20:30Christmas monster?
00:20:31We just gonna see
00:20:32what comes out of the oven.
00:20:34We all know what Crancaca is.
00:20:36You know what I mean?
00:20:37So, a Crancacaca,
00:20:38it's almost like
00:20:39if someone eats too many cranberries,
00:20:41they've got cranberries in the caca,
00:20:42so it's like a Crancacaca.
00:20:45Crancacaca, Prue.
00:20:46I mean, this is a great challenge
00:20:47for our celebrity bakers.
00:20:48Very festive,
00:20:49of the holiday time.
00:20:50Pretty straightforward.
00:20:52Yes, I mean,
00:20:52it sounds simple enough.
00:20:53You have to make
00:20:5412 concentric rings
00:20:56of dough
00:20:57and leave them in the oven
00:20:59until golden brown.
00:21:01And this is a difficult bit
00:21:02because I didn't give them
00:21:02the baking time.
00:21:03What is the baking time?
00:21:04It's about 15 minutes,
00:21:06which is not long.
00:21:07And then they've got
00:21:08to stack them up,
00:21:09do the zigzag icing
00:21:11and build it up.
00:21:12We want it
00:21:12beautifully symmetrical
00:21:14like this.
00:21:14Yeah.
00:21:15Do you want to try some, Prue?
00:21:16I do, I do.
00:21:17There you go, Prue.
00:21:17Take the top one there.
00:21:18Thank you.
00:21:19Lovely.
00:21:20Oh, the knife goes through
00:21:21beautifully.
00:21:22Crispy on the outside
00:21:23and soft in the middle.
00:21:26Now, that is perfect.
00:21:27Mmm.
00:21:28Recipe-wise,
00:21:29I think the flavor,
00:21:30they should attain this.
00:21:31I'm not sure about
00:21:32the texture
00:21:33because you haven't
00:21:33got the bake time.
00:21:34I think that's
00:21:34going to be the issue.
00:21:36It'll be interesting
00:21:36to see who's got
00:21:37that beautiful chew
00:21:38and whose ends up
00:21:39like house bricks,
00:21:40you know?
00:21:44The first step
00:21:45is to make the dough.
00:21:46To make the dough,
00:21:47tip the pistachios
00:21:49and icing into a bowl.
00:21:50How much icing sugar?
00:21:52600 grams.
00:21:54I'm 598.
00:21:55That's good enough.
00:21:56Bang, 600.
00:21:58Woo-hoo!
00:21:59Add the beaten egg whites
00:22:00and the pistachio extract
00:22:02and mix.
00:22:03But am I beating
00:22:04the egg whites in here?
00:22:05How do you know
00:22:06when the eggs
00:22:06are thoroughly beaten?
00:22:08When they're down
00:22:08for the count?
00:22:09These are the things
00:22:10that a real baker
00:22:11would know,
00:22:12and of course,
00:22:13I don't.
00:22:15Now, I got to put
00:22:16this in here
00:22:17and use my hands.
00:22:19Are there gloves?
00:22:20Get the hands in there.
00:22:22Get all up in that caca.
00:22:25Feels like
00:22:26I'm on the right track.
00:22:27Looks like it's a nice
00:22:28dough consistency.
00:22:30Feel like a kid again.
00:22:32Should we start a boot fight?
00:22:34Oh, yeah.
00:22:38Aaron,
00:22:39I heard a rumor.
00:22:40Did you know Oliver
00:22:41before today?
00:22:42I knew Oliver
00:22:43since I was in
00:22:45seventh grade.
00:22:46What?
00:22:46That's crazy.
00:22:47We went to school together.
00:22:49He wasn't like a bully
00:22:49or anything?
00:22:50No, not at all.
00:22:51Were you a bully?
00:22:52Total opposite.
00:22:52No, not at all.
00:22:53Okay.
00:22:54But I wasn't
00:22:54the best student.
00:22:56I wasn't a good student.
00:22:57That's why we're
00:22:57in show business.
00:22:58Yeah.
00:23:00Step two
00:23:01for the decoration.
00:23:02Roll out the sugar gum paste
00:23:03to the thickness
00:23:04of three millimeters.
00:23:05Cut out
00:23:05a six-pointed star.
00:23:07Six-pointed star?
00:23:09Measuring approximately
00:23:10five centimeters
00:23:10in diameter.
00:23:12It's like a geometry problem
00:23:13and cooking.
00:23:16This doesn't help me at all.
00:23:17What the hell
00:23:18a six-pointed star
00:23:19look like?
00:23:20I got a draw on this.
00:23:21Three, four.
00:23:23That's five.
00:23:25How the hell
00:23:25do you do six?
00:23:26This is where I lose.
00:23:28I don't know
00:23:28how to cut stars.
00:23:31Hey.
00:23:32Oh, my gosh.
00:23:33I just wanted
00:23:33to come say hi
00:23:34and see how
00:23:34the crayons of cock
00:23:35is going.
00:23:36Um, three, four, five.
00:23:38I need a six-pointed star.
00:23:39Is that correct?
00:23:40So where do you live?
00:23:44Six-pointed star.
00:23:45You watching anything fun?
00:23:46I don't know
00:23:46what you're talking about.
00:23:47Oh, wait a minute.
00:23:47Do you feel like
00:23:47you have a lot?
00:23:49Sorry, you want me to go.
00:23:50One, two, three.
00:23:51I'm going to go.
00:23:52Okay, well, bye.
00:23:53Bye, honey.
00:23:56Three, four, five, six.
00:23:58Bam.
00:23:59There we go.
00:24:00I've got some options.
00:24:01I can come back
00:24:02to this if I need to.
00:24:03Maybe I'll move on
00:24:04to something else.
00:24:05I quit.
00:24:07I don't know
00:24:07how to draw these stars.
00:24:12Step three.
00:24:13Cut the chilled dough
00:24:15into four pieces.
00:24:16Roll each piece
00:24:17into a long rope
00:24:18about two centimeters thick.
00:24:20I am not good at math
00:24:22and these measurements
00:24:23I have not measured.
00:24:25I love desserts
00:24:26that looks like long turds.
00:24:29Earrings.
00:24:31I just got to roll,
00:24:33which I do well.
00:24:34Oh, my back.
00:24:35Shout out to the bakers
00:24:36because I've only been
00:24:37baking for one day.
00:24:38I'm ready to retire.
00:24:39Cut the dough
00:24:40into the following lengths.
00:24:42Eight centimeters,
00:24:4311,
00:24:44all the way down.
00:24:45These will become rings.
00:24:46Okay.
00:24:47Eight centimeters.
00:24:4817, 20.
00:24:5035.
00:24:5135, 38, 41.
00:24:54Oh, my gosh.
00:24:55It's too complicated.
00:24:56No one said anything
00:24:57about math.
00:24:58Some are thicker
00:24:59than others.
00:25:00Let me measure these again.
00:25:01I don't want Paul
00:25:02to say my rings
00:25:03are too thick.
00:25:04I'm very focused.
00:25:06With the pupukaka,
00:25:07you have to be
00:25:08very precise.
00:25:10Zip.
00:25:11Precision.
00:25:12Come on now.
00:25:14Now I need 23.
00:25:16Okay.
00:25:16Shape the cut length
00:25:17into rings.
00:25:19Oh, gosh.
00:25:20Oh, no.
00:25:21I am one ring short.
00:25:23Yo, do you have more dough?
00:25:24Here.
00:25:25Oh, thank you, sir.
00:25:26That's all I need right here.
00:25:27Thank you.
00:25:28Hi, Janelle.
00:25:29So, I need to know
00:25:31your character
00:25:31on Abbott Elementary,
00:25:32truly one of the funniest
00:25:33characters ever
00:25:34on television.
00:25:35Oh, thank you.
00:25:36Do you share
00:25:37any kind of traits
00:25:38with her?
00:25:40Like her?
00:25:40I'm, like,
00:25:41super humble.
00:25:43You know?
00:25:43Okay.
00:25:44And, um...
00:25:45Uh-huh.
00:25:46And when this came to me,
00:25:47I thought she was hilarious,
00:25:48and then I was like,
00:25:49who else is?
00:25:50Me.
00:25:54Bakers,
00:25:55we're halfway there.
00:25:56Yeah.
00:25:56You have one hour
00:25:58and seven and a half minutes.
00:26:01One hour.
00:26:03Very specific.
00:26:04Very specific.
00:26:05Oh, it's good.
00:26:05Let them know.
00:26:06This is also not a watch.
00:26:09Now, bake the rings
00:26:10until golden brown.
00:26:12It doesn't say how long.
00:26:15Why y'all do this
00:26:16on the second half?
00:26:17I'm toast.
00:26:19So, am I just supposed
00:26:20to guess if it's ready or not?
00:26:22Guess I gotta watch them.
00:26:23I don't know how long
00:26:24Kaka'll take the cook.
00:26:26Here we go.
00:26:28How you doing, Sherry?
00:26:29A watched ring
00:26:31never browns.
00:26:32But I'm not gonna be,
00:26:35you know,
00:26:35underdog again.
00:26:45The celebrity bakers
00:26:47are halfway through
00:26:48their festive
00:26:49Kranza Kaka
00:26:50technical challenge.
00:26:51Now that my dough
00:26:53is in the oven,
00:26:54I'm gonna get
00:26:55the icing ready.
00:26:56For the royal icing,
00:26:58two tablespoons
00:26:58of pasteurized egg whites.
00:27:01Gradually whisk
00:27:02in the icing sugar time
00:27:04until stiff,
00:27:05glossy peaks form
00:27:06when the whisk
00:27:07is removed.
00:27:09Add food coloring
00:27:10bit by bit
00:27:11until the icing
00:27:12is bright green.
00:27:13Turning it green.
00:27:14Let's go a little
00:27:15more.
00:27:16Why not?
00:27:17Is that golden?
00:27:20Eh?
00:27:21They look pretty good.
00:27:22I don't know about appetizing,
00:27:23but they look brown
00:27:24and circular.
00:27:26Hey, you really pulled it out
00:27:27in that last round.
00:27:29It felt good.
00:27:30I bet.
00:27:30You know,
00:27:31coming from a family
00:27:32of very famous people,
00:27:34I don't get a lot of wins,
00:27:35you know.
00:27:36You're a winner to me, baby.
00:27:37No, I know.
00:27:38So this feels good
00:27:39and I can, you know,
00:27:40maybe rub it in their face.
00:27:41Yeah, I think, you know,
00:27:42when you come home
00:27:43with that cake stand,
00:27:44you can be like,
00:27:45suck it.
00:27:46Yeah.
00:27:46What do you got?
00:27:47Huh?
00:27:47What do you got?
00:27:48Almost Famous?
00:27:48Oh, an Oscar?
00:27:49Yeah, what's an Oscar?
00:27:50What, a Golden Globe?
00:27:51You don't have the plate.
00:27:54Oh, it's starting
00:27:55to smell good, baby.
00:27:57Baby.
00:27:59I gotta get this star right.
00:28:04I'm gonna move them
00:28:05so they cool off.
00:28:07But they've been in there
00:28:07for a bit now.
00:28:09Is it supposed
00:28:10to be golden brown?
00:28:11Yeah, it's taking a minute
00:28:12to get golden.
00:28:13Yeah, that's why I'm watching.
00:28:15But it's hard to tell
00:28:16when pistachio,
00:28:18because it's kind of already green,
00:28:20is a golden brown.
00:28:25Yeah.
00:28:28Finally!
00:28:29Somebody, ooh.
00:28:32Oh, oh.
00:28:34Talking about golden brown.
00:28:37I think they're burnt.
00:28:39Ah!
00:28:41That looks pretty golden to me.
00:28:44I think they're gonna stack well.
00:28:45They seem to stay
00:28:47in the shapes and sizes
00:28:49that they were meant to stay in,
00:28:51so fingers are crossed.
00:28:53Bakers, you have 30 minutes left.
00:28:56Jesus Christmas.
00:28:57If Santa can deliver
00:28:59four billion presents
00:29:00in one night,
00:29:01you all can make one...
00:29:03One stinking...
00:29:05Crancacaca!
00:29:07Still pretty warm.
00:29:08It went from not wanting
00:29:09to go brown
00:29:10to not wanting to cool down.
00:29:12Did you ever work
00:29:13in a restaurant?
00:29:13I have, actually.
00:29:15My dad had a restaurant.
00:29:16Really?
00:29:17And so,
00:29:17I don't know if you've ever
00:29:19had to prep meatballs
00:29:20while somebody yells at you.
00:29:21Oh!
00:29:22Oh!
00:29:24Okay, what's next?
00:29:26Build the tower.
00:29:27Pipe a few dots of the icing
00:29:28into the base
00:29:29of the largest one.
00:29:31And stick it
00:29:31in the middle of the cake.
00:29:33And then pipe the icing
00:29:34in a zigzag pattern
00:29:36around the ring.
00:29:37Repeat with the remaining rings,
00:29:39stacking them on top
00:29:40of each other.
00:29:41Zigzag, it said.
00:29:43So far, so good.
00:29:46Aw, freak!
00:29:49Ain't nobody zigzag
00:29:50like me, baby.
00:29:52My icing thing broke.
00:29:54I don't know how to fix it.
00:29:56Remember that game
00:29:56you used to have
00:29:57when you were a kid,
00:29:58the tower?
00:29:59You remember
00:29:59with the different colors?
00:30:00Yes, the play school toys,
00:30:02100%.
00:30:03I'd play with that now
00:30:05if I had one.
00:30:06Hanukkah has eight nights.
00:30:08So you all only have
00:30:09five minutes.
00:30:10Ah!
00:30:11Mother of pearl.
00:30:12These things never end.
00:30:16Stress me out.
00:30:18I have no idea
00:30:20how it tastes.
00:30:21It kind of smells like
00:30:23poop.
00:30:26Good job, Sherry.
00:30:27How far behind am I?
00:30:29Not too far.
00:30:30Your rings are much
00:30:31neater than mine.
00:30:32I like your little loops.
00:30:34You got the loops, girl.
00:30:35You got the hoops.
00:30:36Hoops and the loops.
00:30:38Loops.
00:30:38Baby's got loops.
00:30:40One minute left, bakers.
00:30:42Oh.
00:30:43Oh.
00:30:44You know, amateurs
00:30:45use sieves.
00:30:46I just tossed the snow.
00:30:49Oh, it's like my first
00:30:50night in Hollywood.
00:30:52Snow was everywhere.
00:30:55I wish I stacked it
00:30:57a little bit better,
00:30:57but it's fine.
00:30:59And here we go
00:31:00with the finishing touch.
00:31:03Bakers,
00:31:04this challenge has ended.
00:31:07Please take your wreath cakes
00:31:09and bring them up
00:31:10to the judges' table.
00:31:12I'm glad that this part is over.
00:31:15I don't think they took it easy
00:31:16on us at all.
00:31:17I'm hoping I might surprise myself.
00:31:20I've got to find its best side.
00:31:22There you go.
00:31:22I was so hyper-focused,
00:31:24making it good
00:31:25and getting it done.
00:31:26But I took my time.
00:31:27Everything was going well.
00:31:28So I think I did better
00:31:29than I thought I would do.
00:31:31I don't know.
00:31:32We'll see.
00:31:38Paul and Prue are looking
00:31:39for 12 beautifully baked
00:31:41and stacked pistachio cookie rings,
00:31:44decorated with green icing
00:31:45and a sugar star on top.
00:31:47But they have no idea
00:31:49whose krenzikaka is whose.
00:31:52Welcome.
00:31:53I'm impressed.
00:31:53I think they've done badly.
00:31:54Yeah, I'm quite impressed.
00:31:56We'll start with this one.
00:31:58A little wobbly.
00:31:59A little wobbly.
00:31:59But it's well-stacked.
00:32:01Interesting star.
00:32:03Let's have a quick look inside.
00:32:08Might be a little bit overbaked.
00:32:10Just a bit.
00:32:11It's not meant to be baked right through.
00:32:17I need a new crown.
00:32:21It's very dark underneath.
00:32:22You can see it's overbaked.
00:32:23But the flavour's good
00:32:24and the structure's a bit all over the place,
00:32:26but it's not bad.
00:32:27I think it's a little imaginative.
00:32:29And you know what?
00:32:29At a party,
00:32:30it would be demolished in no time.
00:32:32Because they are delicious.
00:32:33Yeah.
00:32:34Once people have had a few drinks.
00:32:36Moving on to this one.
00:32:37Pretty neat.
00:32:38A bit wobbly.
00:32:39And they look nicely risen.
00:32:41They do, don't they?
00:32:42They've got a nice height to them.
00:32:43Again, I think they're going to...
00:32:44It's a bit hard.
00:32:47It's a bit hard.
00:32:48You know what?
00:32:48I begin to think I should have given them a baking time.
00:32:51Maybe a baking time would have been good.
00:32:52We were told golden brown.
00:32:56On the outside.
00:32:58Not on the inside.
00:32:59Not all the way through.
00:33:01Do you know,
00:33:02I want to just see if the bottom one is just as hard.
00:33:04Can't be.
00:33:06It is.
00:33:08Great flavour though.
00:33:09Lovely.
00:33:10Piping on this one's better again.
00:33:12Let's see if we can get into one of these.
00:33:18Yeah, it's a strong bake again.
00:33:23Well.
00:33:24No, no.
00:33:27This one looks so beautiful.
00:33:28And I like the light dusting of snow.
00:33:30The flavour's good.
00:33:31Just overbaked.
00:33:33Yeah.
00:33:34Moving on to this last one.
00:33:35Interesting.
00:33:35Good start.
00:33:36Made with two stones.
00:33:38It's very symmetrical.
00:33:40Yeah.
00:33:40It's big.
00:33:42Let's see what this one's like.
00:33:44Oh.
00:33:46Hooray.
00:33:47We have a bit of softness.
00:33:49Oh, that's perfect.
00:33:51Mm.
00:33:51Much better.
00:33:52Delicious.
00:33:53Crispy on the outside.
00:33:54Soft and chewy in the middle.
00:33:56Full of pistachios.
00:33:57Great flavour.
00:33:58Beautiful decoration.
00:33:59Nice decoration.
00:34:00Very good piping.
00:34:01Might be heavier with the icing sugar.
00:34:03That's lovely.
00:34:04I think that's a good one.
00:34:04Yeah, it's a nice one.
00:34:06Paul and Prue will now rank the Crancicaca
00:34:09from worst to first.
00:34:11OK, in fourth spot we have this one.
00:34:14Who's is this?
00:34:16Baron, it was a bit wobbly, and it was overbaked,
00:34:19but it did taste good.
00:34:20Thank you.
00:34:20And in third place we have this one.
00:34:22Who's that?
00:34:24Cherry.
00:34:24It's a little bit wobbly.
00:34:26The icing isn't perfect.
00:34:28It tastes absolutely delicious.
00:34:30Very good.
00:34:31Thank you for that.
00:34:32In second spot we have, going down beautifully in the line,
00:34:35this one.
00:34:36Who's is this?
00:34:37Oliver, this is decent.
00:34:39The pipe works good.
00:34:40It is beautifully symmetrical,
00:34:41but unfortunately it is overbaked,
00:34:44but it did taste good.
00:34:46Which means...
00:34:47Oh, you're leaving.
00:34:49Well done.
00:34:50Thank you so much.
00:34:51It's the kind of Crancicaca you would see
00:34:54in a Northern European pastry shop window at Christmas.
00:34:59Oh my God, I never thought I'd be so proud
00:35:01to build a caca before in my life.
00:35:03That's a dessert that only happens once in a lifetime,
00:35:05and since I'm on television,
00:35:07I have the evidence that I did it and I conquered.
00:35:09Full disclosure, mine was not supposed to be edible.
00:35:12It's for the Macy's display window.
00:35:15I'm a little disappointed.
00:35:17I thought I was going to take it.
00:35:18I thought it was mine.
00:35:19And then, Janelle,
00:35:20she cut into her crappy Cronky
00:35:22and it was perfect.
00:35:24I was like, ah, that's it.
00:35:25So, everything's going to rely tomorrow
00:35:27on the showstopper.
00:35:29And Janelle,
00:35:31coming after her.
00:35:38Why do I feel like you guys
00:35:39are going to gang up on me today?
00:35:40You are like a semi-professional
00:35:42and you've done this before.
00:35:44Her sense is a pastry chef!
00:35:45This is your first holiday special.
00:35:47Yes, happy to share it in the holiday cheer
00:35:49and it seems like a competitive holiday spirit.
00:35:53How do you all think it's going?
00:35:54Bloody awful.
00:35:55Oh, absolute nonsense.
00:35:57He's a professional grump.
00:35:58I'm the Grinch.
00:35:59You are the Grinch.
00:36:01I think overall,
00:36:02between the two challenges,
00:36:03I've been quite surprised,
00:36:04certainly with the cookies.
00:36:05Few of them underbaked it
00:36:06as opposed to Baron,
00:36:07who overbaked it.
00:36:08And actually,
00:36:09I think they did pretty well.
00:36:10They looked so pretty, too.
00:36:11They were really good.
00:36:12Even the Kranzer cook was good.
00:36:14Surprising,
00:36:15because I thought it was
00:36:15a really difficult challenge.
00:36:17I thought Janelle did extremely well
00:36:19to produce that Kranzer cook,
00:36:21which was pretty much perfect.
00:36:22There's some talent in a sense.
00:36:24Now, is there anything
00:36:25that Sherry or Baron could do?
00:36:27Baron would struggle,
00:36:28I think,
00:36:29being last in technical
00:36:30and with his overbaked cookie.
00:36:32What about Sherry?
00:36:32She's got some good ideas.
00:36:34I think Showstopper's
00:36:35really going to sort it all out.
00:36:37Yeah.
00:36:37But I do think
00:36:38in pole position
00:36:39is Janelle and Oliver
00:36:40at the moment,
00:36:41but that could change.
00:36:42I wonder if his famous mother,
00:36:44Goldie Hawn,
00:36:45baked.
00:36:45He said she's a great cook.
00:36:47Yeah.
00:36:47Well, I'd like to see
00:36:48Goldie Hawn in the tents,
00:36:49Baker,
00:36:49because that would be great.
00:36:50Oh, what a treat.
00:36:51That's my generation.
00:36:52We could get her in here.
00:36:54Get her on the horn.
00:36:55Oliver!
00:36:55Call her.
00:37:05Bakers, welcome
00:37:06to the Showstopper Challenge.
00:37:09You are being asked
00:37:10to make a winter meringue scene
00:37:12based on your favorite holiday story.
00:37:15So basically taking
00:37:16your childhood trauma
00:37:17and turning it into dessert.
00:37:20My favorite holiday memory
00:37:21is when I cried my eyes out
00:37:22on a mall Santa's lap.
00:37:24How old were you?
00:37:25That was last year.
00:37:26Oh.
00:37:26Each scene will need
00:37:28ten pieces of baked meringue.
00:37:31You will have three hours
00:37:32and 30 minutes
00:37:33to complete this challenge.
00:37:34On your marks,
00:37:36get set,
00:37:37bake!
00:37:41Ooh, lots of sighs.
00:37:42Yes.
00:37:43Deep sighs.
00:37:44Okay, here we go.
00:37:45Do I make meringue often?
00:37:46Never.
00:37:47Never made it,
00:37:48but often is, baby.
00:37:50There's no defense to play here.
00:37:52I've heard that it's very precise.
00:37:54I'm using scales and math and such,
00:37:57so doing math.
00:37:58Love it.
00:37:59Our Showstopper Challenge for our bakers is
00:38:01a meringue scene
00:38:02to represent
00:38:03their favorite memory
00:38:04from the holiday time.
00:38:06And it's down to our bakers
00:38:07to choose the meringue carefully.
00:38:09It's got to be 160.
00:38:10You guys want to see that?
00:38:11Bow.
00:38:12This is time-consuming.
00:38:13Whatever they choose,
00:38:14they've got to blend in
00:38:15that sugar into the meringue
00:38:16properly to get a beautiful bake.
00:38:18For all those amateur bakers out there
00:38:21who, you know,
00:38:21want to take a tip
00:38:22from the Hudson Express,
00:38:23add the sugar in slowly
00:38:26to your meringue.
00:38:27If you're going to do anything
00:38:28in baking,
00:38:29that's it.
00:38:32My main concern
00:38:33is that because it's a sculpture,
00:38:36they're quite liable to break
00:38:37because a really good meringue
00:38:39is very fragile.
00:38:40Putting vanilla
00:38:41into the meringue right now.
00:38:43My main advice
00:38:44for the bakers
00:38:44is to get a good bake on it
00:38:46so that it's almost dry
00:38:47in the middle.
00:38:49Then they'll be much easier
00:38:50to assemble.
00:38:50I'm going to try not to make
00:38:52as much of a mess
00:38:53as I did yesterday.
00:38:54Now, I know the celebrities
00:38:55probably never even seen
00:38:57a meringue in raw form before,
00:38:59but they're going to have
00:39:00to do well today.
00:39:05Morning, Oliver.
00:39:06Good morning.
00:39:07We need to know
00:39:08all about your Christmas seed.
00:39:10I turned this off.
00:39:11It's got this...
00:39:13Did you just mess up my meringue?
00:39:14That's fine.
00:39:15In case you guys didn't know,
00:39:16it's very delicate.
00:39:17You've got to be very careful.
00:39:18Yeah.
00:39:19So my showstopper,
00:39:20is a picture of Colorado.
00:39:22Kurt, my stepdad,
00:39:23came into my life
00:39:24and brought us to Colorado
00:39:25at six.
00:39:26And at Christmas,
00:39:27hockey on the pond,
00:39:28bonfire.
00:39:29It was just sort of
00:39:30this magical...
00:39:32Idyllic setting.
00:39:32Oh, how wonderful.
00:39:34Oliver is hoping
00:39:35his merry meringue scene
00:39:37will taste as sweet
00:39:38as the memory
00:39:39that inspired it.
00:39:40An ice-blue French meringue pond
00:39:42will sit alongside
00:39:43green meringue trees
00:39:45drizzled with peppermint
00:39:46and a chocolate chip bonfire.
00:39:48It's very ambitious,
00:39:50but I just hope
00:39:51you pull it off.
00:39:51I hope so, too.
00:39:52You're going to ruin it.
00:39:53Yeah, this could destroy
00:39:54my actual memory.
00:39:57I'm looking for
00:39:59thick and glossy.
00:40:00I'm looking for paint,
00:40:01basically.
00:40:02As Janelle and Barron
00:40:03have opted
00:40:04for a Swiss-style meringue,
00:40:06a smooth, glossy consistency
00:40:08will let them know
00:40:09when it's been whipped
00:40:09to perfection.
00:40:10Beautiful!
00:40:12While Sherry and Oliver's
00:40:13French-style meringue
00:40:14will only be ready
00:40:16once those peaks
00:40:17stand tall, light, airy,
00:40:19and proud.
00:40:19Okay, I think
00:40:20I'm finished here.
00:40:21Or they could opt
00:40:23for a riskier test.
00:40:25I did it.
00:40:29Well, now I'm just
00:40:30trying to figure out colors.
00:40:32Like, I know we've got green.
00:40:34Red is going to be
00:40:35his jacket and his hat.
00:40:37Look, now I'm making
00:40:38blue jeans.
00:40:39I've got to be
00:40:40very careful.
00:40:41Oops.
00:40:42A variety of peppermint
00:40:44and vanilla.
00:40:45Pep Villa.
00:40:47Going for realism here.
00:40:49Because even if it doesn't
00:40:50taste good, which it will,
00:40:52it needs to be pretty.
00:40:53I'm making Grandma's house,
00:40:55which is a tableau
00:40:57that's going to look like
00:40:59me having tea and guava tarts
00:41:01with my grandmother
00:41:02over the holidays.
00:41:04Janelle's tropical
00:41:05tea time memory
00:41:06will see a Swiss meringue
00:41:08tea set paired with guava
00:41:09and passion fruit tarts
00:41:11garnished with a hint
00:41:12of whipped cream.
00:41:13Hi, winner.
00:41:14What's up, Andrew?
00:41:15What's happening?
00:41:16You came in on a high today.
00:41:18I did.
00:41:19And, you know,
00:41:19sometimes I can backfire.
00:41:21Well, do you feel like
00:41:22you've got a little
00:41:24target on your back now?
00:41:24Hasn't happened to me yet.
00:41:27I don't really know
00:41:28what I'm doing.
00:41:29It's just pure freestyle.
00:41:30The celebrity bakers
00:41:32must carefully pipe
00:41:33and shape their meringue
00:41:34to form the building blocks
00:41:36of their 3D showstopper scenes.
00:41:38Hands as smooth as a samurai.
00:41:41But the key to a well-baked
00:41:43and structurally sound meringue scene
00:41:45is an even thickness.
00:41:47Oh, God, what a mess.
00:41:49Too thin,
00:41:50and it'll be fragile.
00:41:52I'm making the legs
00:41:53a little thicker
00:41:54because they're very fragile anyway.
00:41:56Too thick,
00:41:57and it won't bake through.
00:42:00Good morning, Sherry.
00:42:02Good morning.
00:42:03Tell us all about your meringue.
00:42:05I can't ski,
00:42:06and every time I would ski,
00:42:07I would get hurt.
00:42:08Yeah.
00:42:09So I saw people
00:42:10inner tubing one day,
00:42:12and I was like,
00:42:13I can do that.
00:42:14It's even more lethal.
00:42:15No, but it isn't
00:42:16because you have
00:42:17so many layers of clothes on
00:42:19that you just bounce off
00:42:20of whatever you hit.
00:42:21Trust me, I didn't.
00:42:24Hoping for a soft landing,
00:42:27Sherry's snow tubing scene
00:42:28will showcase
00:42:29colored French meringue
00:42:30inner tubes and sledders
00:42:32with a coconut custard
00:42:33for a hit of flavor.
00:42:35Nice brown you got going.
00:42:37It is poopy brown.
00:42:39I didn't want to say it.
00:42:41I know.
00:42:42What you making?
00:42:42These are going to be trees,
00:42:44and these are going to be
00:42:44inner tubes.
00:42:45Oh, for sledding.
00:42:46Oh, that's cool.
00:42:47Thanks, baby girl.
00:42:49Yeah.
00:42:50Yeah.
00:42:52Look at that pond.
00:42:53Okay.
00:42:54Who doesn't want
00:42:55a piece of that pond?
00:42:57This is something
00:42:58that you still do?
00:42:59Yeah.
00:42:59There's like a warming hut
00:43:01down there.
00:43:01I want to come.
00:43:02You should.
00:43:03I don't play hockey.
00:43:04I'm from Nebraska.
00:43:05Are you?
00:43:06Yeah.
00:43:07I was conceived
00:43:08in a bathroom
00:43:09in Omaha, Nebraska.
00:43:11So there you go.
00:43:13Yeah.
00:43:14For me,
00:43:15I was looking at
00:43:17the holidays
00:43:18and the holiday spirit,
00:43:19and I recognized
00:43:21that there was
00:43:22only one Santa Claus.
00:43:24So I wanted
00:43:25to challenge that theory.
00:43:27And so I came up
00:43:28with Nick Nicholson,
00:43:29a.k.a.
00:43:30the Black Santa.
00:43:31And so I said
00:43:32I wrote a book.
00:43:33If I'm going to do a meringue
00:43:34and I'm going to be creative,
00:43:36I got to go with my guy
00:43:37if it's the holidays.
00:43:39With a vanilla
00:43:40Swiss meringue Santa
00:43:41riding in his
00:43:41lemon curd-filled sleigh,
00:43:43Barron is hoping
00:43:44to sweeten up the judges,
00:43:45and it isn't the only gift
00:43:46he's delivering this Christmas.
00:43:48I got a surprise
00:43:49for you all.
00:43:50Do you make these?
00:43:52Yes.
00:43:52Oh, wow.
00:43:53Isn't it beautiful?
00:43:54So this is the guy
00:43:55that we're going to see,
00:43:56hopefully.
00:43:56So now you can hang it
00:43:57on your tree.
00:43:58Thanks, buddy.
00:43:58It will be.
00:43:59And now you'll remember me.
00:44:00Thank you.
00:44:01Thank you.
00:44:01Hey, time is up.
00:44:02I got gifts.
00:44:02Time is up.
00:44:03See, Barron gives
00:44:03his presents today.
00:44:04I know.
00:44:05You guys, move on.
00:44:07I'm not bribing the judges.
00:44:09Feels bribe-y, though.
00:44:17For their showstopper challenge,
00:44:19the Celebrity Bakers
00:44:20are taking a trip
00:44:21down memory lane
00:44:22and rebuilding it
00:44:23entirely in meringue.
00:44:251, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8,
00:44:279, 10, 11, 12,
00:44:2730, 40, 30, 60, 60,
00:44:2820.
00:44:31Halfway mark,
00:44:32halfway mark,
00:44:33you have 145 minutes.
00:44:39All right, I think
00:44:40I got to go in the of.
00:44:41All right, the moment of truth.
00:44:43Rackle.
00:44:44For their meringues
00:44:45to stand tall
00:44:46and structurally sound,
00:44:48the bake time
00:44:48and temperature
00:44:49must be just right.
00:44:51Is that the temperature?
00:44:52Okay, one hour.
00:44:53Man, we're going
00:44:54to see what happens.
00:44:55Oh, dude.
00:44:57Looks good.
00:44:57Thank you, man.
00:44:58How are you looking over there?
00:44:59It's all right.
00:45:00I don't know.
00:45:00Do you have more
00:45:01to make now?
00:45:02No, I'm done.
00:45:03Now you just wait?
00:45:04Yeah, I just wait,
00:45:05and then...
00:45:06See, I got to make
00:45:06whipped cream.
00:45:07Oh, I got to make
00:45:07a lemon curd, dang it.
00:45:09Oh, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho.
00:45:10Oh, my God.
00:45:12Ah.
00:45:12I'm now making
00:45:13my coconut custard,
00:45:15which is supposed
00:45:16to act as a glue.
00:45:17The lemon curd
00:45:18is like part of the meringue.
00:45:20It's going to give you
00:45:21like flavor.
00:45:22Oh, you know,
00:45:23guava is a good flavor
00:45:25that is often overlooked.
00:45:28But then when you eat
00:45:29something with guava,
00:45:30you're like,
00:45:30oh, I should use that
00:45:31more often.
00:45:31Why don't I?
00:45:33Probably because
00:45:35it's labor-intensive,
00:45:36worth it.
00:45:38Is that a caramel?
00:45:40This is guava puree,
00:45:42which is going to
00:45:42turn into curd.
00:45:43Curd is not a great word.
00:45:46No.
00:45:46When I run 10 miles,
00:45:47I have curds
00:45:48between my legs.
00:45:51It's been a nice visit.
00:45:54Bakers?
00:45:55You have one hour left.
00:45:59I thought I had more time.
00:46:01I was like,
00:46:01oh, no, I don't.
00:46:02Black Santa's cooking.
00:46:04The curd is setting.
00:46:06Now I just got to make sure
00:46:08that this whipped cream
00:46:09whip up right.
00:46:10I wish we could have music.
00:46:12I have to turn off the oven
00:46:14and then wait another
00:46:15however long
00:46:16and let them really dry
00:46:17the way I want them to, right?
00:46:19Guys, Oliver mentioned
00:46:20he wished that there was music
00:46:22while he was baking,
00:46:23and so a five, six, seven, eight.
00:46:26Dashing through the snow
00:46:28In a one-horse open sleigh
00:46:30O'er the field we go
00:46:33Laughing all the way
00:46:35Ha, ha, ha
00:46:36And a pop-up tail ring
00:46:39Making spirits bright
00:46:41What fun it is to ride
00:46:43And sing a playing song tonight
00:46:46Woo!
00:46:47Thank you.
00:46:49That was so embarrassing
00:46:51for you guys.
00:46:51I know.
00:46:52I know.
00:46:53What a tough ending.
00:46:54We appreciate it, though.
00:46:57Turn it off
00:46:57and then put a stick in it.
00:46:59I mean, a spoon.
00:47:00Oh, word?
00:47:01Why?
00:47:01Hold the door open
00:47:02so it cools off.
00:47:04Oh, okay.
00:47:04A trick there
00:47:05my grandmother taught me.
00:47:06How much longer
00:47:07do you have to bake?
00:47:08It's not baking now.
00:47:09It's on the cool
00:47:10And how come you have
00:47:10a wooden spoon
00:47:12propping open the oven?
00:47:13Well, for the amateurs
00:47:14out there,
00:47:15Yeah.
00:47:15This helps it cool off.
00:47:18Oh!
00:47:19Yeah.
00:47:19Well, okay,
00:47:20so while you have
00:47:21some time
00:47:21while it's cooling
00:47:22Yes.
00:47:23We wanted to
00:47:24get you a gift.
00:47:25I am honored.
00:47:26Enjoy it.
00:47:27Oh, my God, you guys.
00:47:28Yeah.
00:47:29We know.
00:47:30I know.
00:47:31You are kidding.
00:47:32I know.
00:47:32Well, we know
00:47:33you're someone
00:47:33who has had access
00:47:34and you have everything
00:47:35so we wanted
00:47:36to take it back
00:47:36to the baby.
00:47:37Oh.
00:47:40Oh.
00:47:40Oh.
00:47:41Oh.
00:47:42I'm sure it's amazing.
00:47:44Told you.
00:47:45Oh, no.
00:47:46What you want?
00:47:47The acorn?
00:47:48Absolutely.
00:47:49That's exactly
00:47:50what we were thinking.
00:47:51What's this?
00:47:52A base turkey?
00:47:53That's a good time.
00:47:54Yes.
00:47:54Well, I don't cook
00:47:55so let's switch.
00:47:57You better not have
00:47:57gone over the $20 limit.
00:47:59I'm telling you that.
00:48:00Well, we might have.
00:48:01Oh, good you didn't.
00:48:03We saw it and we thought
00:48:05she's going to love this.
00:48:07Quick announcement.
00:48:09Die Hard is not
00:48:10a Christmas movie.
00:48:13Okay?
00:48:13Also, you have 30 minutes.
00:48:1530 minutes.
00:48:16With the clock ticking,
00:48:18the celebrity bakers
00:48:19must carefully choose
00:48:20when to pull the meringue
00:48:21building blocks
00:48:22out of the oven.
00:48:23I'm pretty close.
00:48:25Too soon
00:48:26and the sudden
00:48:27temperature change
00:48:28may cause the meringue
00:48:29to crack.
00:48:30I don't know
00:48:30what it's supposed
00:48:31to look or feel like.
00:48:33Too long
00:48:34and the bakers
00:48:35may not have enough time
00:48:36to assemble
00:48:36and decorate
00:48:37their holiday scenes.
00:48:39Look, Ma.
00:48:40Bare hands.
00:48:43I'm going to go in
00:48:44and say it's done.
00:48:45I don't know.
00:48:45Not too happy
00:48:46with how things came out.
00:48:48Kind of too abstract,
00:48:50if you know what I'm saying.
00:48:51It's time to start
00:48:52the assembly.
00:48:52I would like them
00:48:53to cool a little bit longer,
00:48:54but I don't have the time.
00:48:55Let's hope that they're
00:48:56cooked through
00:48:57and it all works.
00:48:59I'm thinking
00:48:59how to make this stuff
00:49:01look edible
00:49:01and presentable
00:49:02and beautiful.
00:49:04Assemble the base.
00:49:06Pipe curd in the middle.
00:49:07I'm afraid
00:49:08to pull my meringue.
00:49:09This is the part
00:49:10where vision comes into play.
00:49:11Look at this.
00:49:11What is this?
00:49:12What is it?
00:49:12It's a spoon.
00:49:14We're going to...
00:49:14No.
00:49:16Oh, maybe.
00:49:17Ah, look at that.
00:49:18One spoon.
00:49:20I'm going to cover it
00:49:21with whipped cream.
00:49:23Ugh.
00:49:24Ah, I fell apart.
00:49:27Ah!
00:49:28Five minutes left, bakers.
00:49:31This is going to fall apart.
00:49:33Damn.
00:49:35Ah, I've got a problem.
00:49:38It's like rules.
00:49:39Everything I make
00:49:40looks like a child made it.
00:49:43I don't know.
00:49:45My dogs ain't got no legs.
00:49:47This guy...
00:49:48He's got a tumor.
00:49:50Little doo-doo logs.
00:49:52Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:49:53I'm trying to use these
00:49:54to mask the fact
00:49:56it's falling apart.
00:49:58Bakers, you have
00:49:59one minute left.
00:50:00I'm scared for my life.
00:50:02This is not up to my standards.
00:50:04So much for not making a mess.
00:50:07Oh, shit.
00:50:08Bakers, your challenge has ended.
00:50:12This one hurt my feelings.
00:50:14Could we get the judging going now
00:50:16so this thing doesn't fall apart?
00:50:17It's the ugliest thing
00:50:18I've ever been involved in.
00:50:19Ha, ha, ha.
00:50:27It went as well as it could have.
00:50:30My custard that I made
00:50:31is absolutely delicious.
00:50:33But it looks really homemade.
00:50:35It looks like a kid did it.
00:50:37I'm happy, you know?
00:50:38They won't dislike it.
00:50:40You can't.
00:50:41Because they know
00:50:42what that scene means to me.
00:50:43So if they dislike it,
00:50:45essentially they'll put me
00:50:46back in therapy.
00:50:48Oh, man, that was tough.
00:50:49That was super tough.
00:50:51Black Santa came out okay.
00:50:52I don't think I embarrassed him.
00:50:54But the taste,
00:50:55they gonna love the taste.
00:50:56I always say, like,
00:50:57don't worry about the design.
00:50:58It's how it tastes.
00:51:00Do I think Paul and Prue
00:51:02will know what it's supposed to be?
00:51:03Yes.
00:51:04It's pretty self-explanatory.
00:51:06Got guava going on in there.
00:51:08Nobody else got guava.
00:51:09That's exotic.
00:51:10Baron, would you like
00:51:11to bring up your scene?
00:51:13Yes, I would like to do that.
00:51:16Let's hope it stays in one piece.
00:51:21All right.
00:51:22There you go.
00:51:23Thank you very much.
00:51:28It does look like a horror scene.
00:51:31It looks like you have a wolf.
00:51:33Yes.
00:51:34Mid-attack.
00:51:36Towards Santa and he's lost his legs.
00:51:39And he's left a deposit on his way back.
00:51:43It really does look as if it's leaping.
00:51:46It does.
00:51:46It's amazing.
00:51:47And I love the Santa.
00:51:48It has real personality.
00:51:49Yeah.
00:51:50Is that cream on top of the case?
00:51:52So I use cream to kind of, like,
00:51:54line the sleigh walls,
00:51:56and then the lemon curd
00:51:58is the actual sleigh.
00:52:00It's really good.
00:52:01Thank you.
00:52:02It's well-baked.
00:52:03The cream in the lemon curd
00:52:04is just delicious.
00:52:05It's a little bit chalky.
00:52:07Did you use icing sugar
00:52:08or caster sugar?
00:52:09Icing sugar.
00:52:10Yeah, that tends to make
00:52:12them more chalky.
00:52:13I want to try one of the dogs.
00:52:15Oh.
00:52:15Oh, man, you should have tried
00:52:16the dog.
00:52:17That's dysfunctional.
00:52:19The meringue is well-baked.
00:52:21Thank you.
00:52:21Some of it, obviously,
00:52:22you've lost the base.
00:52:23Mm-hmm.
00:52:23But overall,
00:52:24your lemon curd's nice.
00:52:25Thank you.
00:52:25And it works with the rest of it.
00:52:26I think you've run out of time a bit.
00:52:28Mm-hmm.
00:52:29But I do like the Santa.
00:52:30That's the hero thing in that one.
00:52:31I think that's why
00:52:32I didn't want to touch it.
00:52:34He looks great.
00:52:35Well done, Baron.
00:52:35Thank you.
00:52:36Thank you.
00:52:41It's simple but highly effective
00:52:43because of the color,
00:52:44the shapes.
00:52:45It looks quite robust meringue as well.
00:52:47I love the way the guys
00:52:48are sitting in their inner tubes.
00:52:51It's beautifully done.
00:52:52And I'm very pleased
00:52:53that you've got so much
00:52:54cream and custard there
00:52:55because eating meringue
00:52:56on its own is hard.
00:52:58Yeah.
00:52:59So I'm going to see
00:53:00what one of these is like.
00:53:02Where's the custard?
00:53:04In between the tree.
00:53:05Ah, OK.
00:53:05And what the guys
00:53:07are sitting in is in between.
00:53:08I'll tell you what,
00:53:09that custardy stuff
00:53:10is absolutely delicious.
00:53:12Thank you.
00:53:12Sorry to interrupt you.
00:53:14No, interrupt.
00:53:15It's a terrific hit of coconut.
00:53:17Very green, isn't it?
00:53:18But it's very coconut.
00:53:19With the meringue,
00:53:20it's very good.
00:53:24I don't want to take
00:53:25anybody's head off.
00:53:26Go ahead.
00:53:26I could take a bit
00:53:27of a sled.
00:53:28Yeah, there you go.
00:53:29Don't feel so badly
00:53:30about the sled.
00:53:31Mmm.
00:53:32It's a really well-made
00:53:33and well-baked meringue.
00:53:35That's delicious.
00:53:36It's crispy on the outside.
00:53:37It's just still
00:53:38a little toffee-ish inside.
00:53:39Mmm.
00:53:40It's really lovely.
00:53:41I'm tempted to eat more.
00:53:42Mmm.
00:53:43No complaints.
00:53:44Thank you.
00:53:44It's really good.
00:53:50You know, I've been killing it
00:53:51the whole show,
00:53:52so I'm going for minimalism
00:53:53for this one.
00:53:54And, uh,
00:53:55yeah, just wanted to do...
00:53:56Well done.
00:53:56I wanted to do elegance.
00:53:58The guava puree.
00:54:00Mm-hmm.
00:54:00Is that the only
00:54:02custard or cream you've got?
00:54:03That's whipped cream
00:54:04that I made there.
00:54:05Is that?
00:54:06That...
00:54:06That's whipped cream there.
00:54:08Yeah.
00:54:09Is that it?
00:54:09You're not very generous with it.
00:54:11How did you do that?
00:54:11How did you do just
00:54:12such a small amount?
00:54:14Restraint.
00:54:16LAUGHTER
00:54:17LAUGHTER
00:54:19That cream
00:54:20with a little bit
00:54:21of meringue is lovely.
00:54:22Oh.
00:54:23It's well-baked.
00:54:25Mmm.
00:54:25Very well-baked.
00:54:27Yeah.
00:54:27Dibbidi-dib.
00:54:30I love guava.
00:54:32Oh, wow.
00:54:33I put some passion fruit
00:54:34in there as well
00:54:35just to make it a little...
00:54:37Just a little bit.
00:54:38That's a beautifully-baked
00:54:39meringue.
00:54:40It's crispy
00:54:41and then you've got
00:54:41a little bit of chew
00:54:42in the middle.
00:54:43Yeah.
00:54:43But that with the guava
00:54:45passion fruit mix
00:54:46is delicious.
00:54:47It is,
00:54:47but I think that the guava
00:54:49is slightly too sweet
00:54:50because the meringue
00:54:51is already very sweet.
00:54:52That is.
00:54:53I think you're doing
00:54:53a decent job there, Janelle.
00:54:55Thank you so much.
00:54:55I will take decent.
00:54:56Very good.
00:54:57Thank you.
00:55:01We grew up
00:55:02skating on the pond
00:55:03and these were memories
00:55:05that continue on
00:55:06every year.
00:55:07Who's the one-eared
00:55:08Mr. Fester?
00:55:09So that is actually
00:55:10a growth
00:55:12that I didn't want
00:55:13to cut off.
00:55:14Sorry.
00:55:16And this is a fire?
00:55:18That's a fire
00:55:19and those are
00:55:20chocolate chip
00:55:21meringue rocks
00:55:22and that's folded...
00:55:24Oh, look at that.
00:55:25Isn't that nice?
00:55:26Folded peppermint.
00:55:27Ground peppermint.
00:55:28Is it?
00:55:28On the trees?
00:55:30Is there anything in there?
00:55:30The trees are vanilla
00:55:31and then sprinkled
00:55:32peppermint on top.
00:55:35It tastes just like
00:55:36peppermint drops.
00:55:38That's amazing.
00:55:38You ever baked meringue
00:55:39before?
00:55:40No.
00:55:41You've done a terrific job.
00:55:42Oh, thank you.
00:55:43The meringue is beautifully
00:55:44baked.
00:55:45It's risen nicely.
00:55:45You've got a lot of cream
00:55:46which I approve of.
00:55:48Yeah.
00:55:49Have you seen this here?
00:55:50Come here, look at this.
00:55:52Well done.
00:55:52Oh!
00:55:54No!
00:55:56Oh!
00:55:57Oh!
00:55:57Oh!
00:55:57Oh!
00:55:58Oh!
00:55:58Oh!
00:55:58Oh!
00:55:58Oh!
00:55:58Oh!
00:55:58Oh!
00:55:59Oh!
00:55:59Oh!
00:56:00Oh!
00:56:05Oh!
00:56:17Oh!
00:56:18Oh!
00:56:21Ohaha!
00:56:22Oh my god.
00:56:23My daughter is going
00:56:24to lose her mind.
00:56:26I never thought
00:56:27that I would be this excited.
00:56:29I mean, this is like crazy but
00:56:32now, of course, I have
00:56:33a shot at winning.
00:56:34I mean, I got a handshake.
00:56:35Good job, man.
00:56:37La jornada fue de que esto va a ser divertido
00:56:39a que esto es realmente una competiciĂłn
00:56:41y la gente está tomando esto seriously
00:56:43a que, espera un momento, quiero ganar.
00:56:46Great job.
00:56:47Yo tengo que ganar todo el tiempo.
00:56:49ÂżSabes lo que yo?
00:56:50Estoy tan acostumbrado a esto.
00:56:51Bueno, Cherry.
00:56:52Bueno, Cherry.
00:56:53Y para él, él nunca ganó nada.
00:56:55Yo dije, Âżsabes?
00:56:56Me daré una oportunidad de ganar.
00:56:58Fantástico.
00:57:00Bienvenido, Oliver.
00:57:13Wow, that was, talk about festive.
00:57:16That was thrilling.
00:57:17It was very, now I know that I'm new,
00:57:19but a handshake during the showstopper,
00:57:22that doesn't happen all the time, right?
00:57:23It's almost unheard of.
00:57:24Probably in eight years, I've seen it three times.
00:57:27Really?
00:57:27Wow.
00:57:28I think it deserved it.
00:57:29The height of his meringue, the bake of his meringue,
00:57:31even the little chocolate rocks were delicious.
00:57:33His meringue, especially on his snowman, really rose well.
00:57:38I think Janelle did well.
00:57:39Loved the guava.
00:57:41Yeah, that was delicious.
00:57:42With the passion fruit.
00:57:43And she was first in the technical.
00:57:45Her crancel cackel was absolutely beautiful.
00:57:47It was, spot on.
00:57:48So I think, you know, Janelle, Oliver, it's quite tight.
00:57:52I think it's between those two, really.
00:57:53And you think Cherry could be up there?
00:57:55I think Cherry's done a good job today.
00:57:57The way she'd moulded all these tubes and coloured everything
00:58:00was beautiful.
00:58:01I'm not sure Cherry's there.
00:58:02The only one I was scared of was Barron's.
00:58:05Barron's, it was...
00:58:07It was a different style.
00:58:08More Alfred Hitchcock.
00:58:10Because it looked like two wolves attacking.
00:58:12About to attack.
00:58:13It did a bit, but I still think it was really good.
00:58:15From yesterday to today, I think they've done a really good job.
00:58:19So this is my first holiday special with all of you.
00:58:22So I'm assuming there's some sort of gift.
00:58:27Oh!
00:58:29Paul.
00:58:30You can't open it now, though.
00:58:31You've got to keep it to Christmas Day.
00:58:33Okay, well...
00:58:34That's from all of us.
00:58:34I'm excited.
00:58:35It's light, so it's probably expensive.
00:58:39Thanks, everybody.
00:58:41Keep it for next year.
00:58:42Somebody else.
00:58:43Gift him again.
00:58:44Our new host.
00:58:45Whoever the new host is next year.
00:58:57Bakers, thank you very much for spending the holidays with us.
00:59:01It all comes down to this.
00:59:05The winner of the Great American Baking Show Holiday Special is...
00:59:14Oliver.
00:59:22Thank you, Mike.
00:59:23Great job.
00:59:24Thank you.
00:59:24Thank you.
00:59:25Thank you.
00:59:27Thank you.
00:59:28This is a treat.
00:59:29Oh, my God.
00:59:30Look!
00:59:31Congratulations.
00:59:37Look who won.
00:59:40I'm okay with it.
00:59:41Darling, you were so close.
00:59:43Thank you.
00:59:44Thank you so much.
00:59:45It was an unorthodox way to spend the holidays, but I'm proud of how well I did.
00:59:49I'm proud of how little I complained.
00:59:53This was great.
00:59:54You have a whole new career on the telly.
00:59:58Well, now I can bake, man.
01:00:00Yeah.
01:00:01I'm going to go home and open up a bakery.
01:00:04This experience has definitely set the tone for the holiday season.
01:00:07Now that I can contribute in other ways outside of just watching sports, now I can get in the kitchen
01:00:14and whip.
01:00:15So, give me a bowl and I'm going to work, baby.
01:00:18You got a few drinks through.
01:00:19Let me see you're great.
01:00:20No, I've had a few drinks every night.
01:00:23Honey, that's so awesome.
01:00:25It was wonderful.
01:00:26Today was wonderful.
01:00:27I do not have a knack for baking.
01:00:30So, it was a real learning experience and it was fun.
01:00:34This evening, I'm going to relax, have a glass of wine, and then get into cooking, not baking, for the
01:00:41holiday season.
01:00:43Thank you, everyone.
01:00:44Happy holidays.
01:00:46Happy holidays.
01:00:47Happy holidays.
01:00:52Congratulations, man.
01:00:54You finally won some.
01:00:55I won some.
01:00:56Yeah.
01:00:56Kate's got the Golden Globe.
01:00:57I got this.
01:00:58You're the baguette.
01:00:58That's right.
01:01:00I was a dark horse.
01:01:01You know what I mean?
01:01:02I didn't, I've never baked.
01:01:04So, to have this experience, yeah, with a handshake and a win, I mean, come on.
01:01:10Merry Christmas, man.
01:01:56Merry Christmas, man.
01:02:11Gracias por ver el video.
