Over eleven hundred serious crimes were committed in the first two months of 2026.
That's based on the information provided to the Senate by Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander.
The TTPS' website where the statistics are usually disseminated is being upgraded, which he says may affect the sharing of that data.
Alicia Boucher has more in this report.

00:00Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander, in responding to a question in the Senate
00:05on the total number of crimes recorded for the first two months of 2026,
00:09revealed statistics he says were provided by Commissioner of Police Alistair Guevaro.
00:14C.S. criminal offenses reported across all police divisions between January 2026,
00:23from January 2026, is 725. And from February 2026, it is 479.
00:35As for the rate of detection?
00:37The provisional total number of serious criminal offenses detected across all police divisions
00:44for January 2026 is 212. And for February 2026, 85.
00:54Mr. President, I wish to note that these figures are provisional as the 2nd of March 2026
01:02and remains the subject of verification and finalization by the Crime and Problem Analysis
01:11branch of the Trantebrigo Police Service.
01:12The question was posed in light of the TTPS's website, where the stats are usually shared,
01:18being down for the months of January and February of 2026,
01:23the reason for which Minister Alexander has also provided to the Parliament.
01:27The Commissioner of Police has advised that the interruption arose in circumstances
01:33where there was outstanding payments to the external service provider
01:38responsible for hosting and maintaining of the website,
01:43including an invoice relating to service rendered in 2025 and a subsequent invoice for 2026.
01:53Mr. President, I am advised that the matter has since been addressed
01:57and the website has now been restored to service.
02:02Asked by Opposition Senator Dr. Amory Brown what has been done to prevent a recurrence,
02:08Alexander says he will have to liaise with the Top Cup on that.
02:11Meanwhile, the crime stats for March 2026 are still not accessible via the website.
02:17At present, the Trantebrigo Police Service website is undergoing upgrades and maintenance work.
02:23As a result, certain features, including the crime statistics portal, are temporarily unavailable.
02:31Alexander was unable to say when the upgrade would be completed,
02:34but he states that the public will be informed when that happens.
