Rob and Jeremy took some time from Wednesday's Big Bad Morning Show to discuss what's next for the Orioles rotation after Zach Eflin's elbow injury. Is Dean Kremer the next man up?
Transcript
00:00Zach Eflin goes down.
00:03He went in three and two-thirds innings, one run, four hits, seven strikeouts.
00:07That was the odd thing.
00:08He had seven keys.
00:09Seven keys.
00:10Yeah, he had some spin on it.
00:12And now, shut down, likely IL visit, a trip to the IL, elbow stiffness.
00:20Just doesn't sound good, Jeremy.
00:22No.
00:22Look, it already started the season with two of your mainstays, your starters,
00:27your second and third base, been missing an extended period of time.
00:31Jackson will be back, who knows, in a couple weeks, maybe.
00:34With Jordan Westbrook, we have no idea.
00:36And then now you get this, and it starts to feel a little bit like it did last year
00:39with all the injuries.
00:40And we weren't even privy to some of the injuries.
00:42Like, Gunnar Henderson played through something the entire year last year.
00:45And I don't think there's any question watching him now and saying,
00:48okay, yeah, you can see that something was going on last year.
00:51His power was sapped.
00:52Crank up the Kanye West.
00:53All falls down.
00:54Yes.
00:55That's what started last year.
00:56Sure, we hope not to have that this year.
00:58But how big of a blow is that, in your opinion, of Zach Eflin to the rotation?
01:02I know you can easily say, well, you got Dean Kramer, but still.
01:05But now you don't.
01:06So, like, it's – so the problem is we talked about having the depth,
01:11and it's always great, and you need it for a situation like this.
01:13You know what you don't have now is depth.
01:15So if somebody else gets hurt –
01:17I mean, the good news is Kate Povich started a bunch of games last year.
01:20Slim Shady's there.
01:21I mean, you could go to that if you had to, but I think ideally for a team that has
01:25visions of going to the playoffs –
01:27That's not where you want to go.
01:27Yeah.
01:284-10-5-8-3-1-0-5-7.
01:30Not at this point.
01:31Baltimore's big bad morning show on the fan.
01:33Yeah.
01:33You got to get new headsets, man.
01:34No, no, no, no, no.
01:35These are the right ones.
01:37I stepped on it because I took my foot out my shoe.
01:40I stepped on it.
01:41It's unplows for me.
01:42You took your foot out the shoe?
01:44Yeah.
01:45Yeah.
01:45You Vinny over here?
01:46You got the dogs out?
01:48No.
01:49You know when your sock gets caught up under your toe?
01:52I got you.
01:52It's uncomfortable?
01:53Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:54So I had to pull my sock up.
01:55I'm just wondering if I'm walking by, are you seeing your bare-ass feet or something?
01:58Well, you want to see my feet?
01:59No, I don't.
02:00All right.
02:00It's one of the two.
02:01I did it again.
02:02Are your feet busted?
02:03Are they busted?
02:04Yeah.
02:05Like ugly?
02:05Yeah.
02:06No.
02:07Okay.
02:07You got pretty feet, Rob?
02:08They're not pretty.
02:09They're not busted.
02:11I just wanted to see if there was a double standard, like women with nice feet, but you got these
02:15ugly-ass feet
02:16over here and it don't matter.
02:18Oh, no.
02:18Mine aren't as pretty as a woman's foot, but I think mine are ugly.
02:22I don't want to see them.
02:23I'll show them to you.
02:24No, I don't want to see them.
02:26Eli Parkville.
02:27What's up, Eli?
02:27Like feet.
02:28Hey, good morning, fellas.
02:30Before the season started, when Michael Elias, when he signed Eflin, I kind of wanted him
02:35to sign and trade for Zach Gollin.
02:39But now, like, you know, like hindsight is 20-20.
02:41I didn't want to see Eflin get hurt, but I also wanted to see Gollin, like, on the team.
02:46But maybe for Def, they could just make Tyler Wells a starting pitcher and have Povich, you
02:52know, be a bullpen arm, and then that'll, like, solve the issue.
02:55They're not putting Povich in a bullpen.
02:57He doesn't have bullpen stuff.
02:58That's not going to happen.
02:59And I don't think Wells is going back to being a starter, because now it takes time to stretch
03:02him out, and so you're missing out on all this time.
03:04I'm not saying that couldn't happen.
03:06I just don't believe it will.
03:07I don't think they're putting Povich in a bullpen.
03:09I don't either.
03:10Yeah.
03:10Let's go to Antonio and Rosedale.
03:12What's up, Antonio?
03:13Good morning.
03:14How are you guys doing?
03:15Doing well.
03:15How are you?
03:16Good.
03:17Happy hump day Wednesday, guys.
03:18Happy hump day Wednesday, my friend.
03:21With Eflin's elbow injury, Dilly Orioles, bring Gene Kramer back up, and you guys have
03:27a wonderful day.
03:28You have a wonderful day, too.
03:29I'm thinking they almost have to do that, don't they?
03:32I mean, what's the other answer?
03:33In April, you probably don't, but remember, we were talking about April carrying five starters.
03:37Maybe some of that is to limit Kyle Braddish, so I think that's the corresponding move.
03:42It has to be.
03:43Maybe it's something where, depending on where he's at in the rotation, that you call up
03:48a bullpen arm for a couple of days.
03:49If you want to do that, then send that guy down and bring Kramer up when you're ready
03:52to start him.
03:53But ultimately, I think in a week or so, or sometime soon, he's going to be on this roster.
03:58Because right now, you have Nestor Yaman, Levi Wells, Cade Povich.
04:03Those are your starters down there.
04:04Trey Gibson is down there as well.
04:07Kramer hasn't even made an appearance down there.
04:11I don't see him on here.
04:15Is he at AAA?
04:17Sometimes they send those guys at AA.
04:18Maybe he is.
04:19Chase McDermott has only pitched one inning out of relief.
04:22Okay.
04:25But he's not even on here.
04:27There are 12 pitchers on here.
04:28He's not one of them.
04:294-10-5-8-3-1-0-5-7.
04:31Mike in Baltimore.
04:32What's up, Mike?
04:33Hey, how y'all doing this morning?
04:35Doing well.
04:35How are you?
04:36I'm doing all right, man.
04:37You know, it's only, what is it, six games into the season.
04:40So, you know, I'm not kind of panicking.
04:43But I'm starting to get kind of those vibes from last year, you know, with the injuries.
04:48And then, you know, they did score five runs last night.
04:52But I was kind of worried about the hitting or whatever because we kept waiting last year.
04:57Oh, that would be all right.
04:58They'll be all right.
04:59You know, we've been like 10 or 12 games under .500.
05:02So, I'm a little bit concerned.
05:07But I just hope it doesn't go the way of last year.
05:10You know, like, it's extremely early.
05:12But it's kind of worrying me a little bit.
05:15Oh, I mean, it's, again, it is way too early to sit here and panic over anything.
05:20Joe just thought, was Mike trying to convince himself?
05:23I'm not worried.
05:24It's early in the season, but I'm kind of worried.
05:26Yeah, but last year, but I'm not really that worried.
05:29Like, Mike, come on, dude.
05:31Joe told me, so Kramer can't be called up until April 9th.
05:36Unless he replaces an injured player.
05:38He was supposed to start Friday.
05:39But he will be replacing him.
05:40But I'm just saying, so it wouldn't go back to what I said.
05:43Call up a bullpen arm and then wait until Kramer because you would have to replace him for an injured
05:46player before the night.
05:47Yeah.
05:48So, he's going to start Friday.
05:51He won't start here Friday.
05:52That's for sure.
05:54Unless you give him a...
05:54I don't think he's starting there Friday.
05:56He didn't start and then bring him up.
05:57Well, what are the off days?
05:58So, they're off Thursday.
06:00You're not going to push people back more to let him start Friday.
06:03Are they off?
06:03He won't play again until...
06:05He won't be...
06:07Zach Eflin's turn doesn't come up again until what?
06:09Next Wednesday?
06:10Or Friday?
06:11I want to see what the off days are.
06:13Is there...
06:13Are they off on Monday?
06:15No, they're not off Monday.
06:16All right.
06:16So, they have the full Monday, Tuesday.
06:18So, yeah.
06:19Then you have it mapped out.
06:20Yeah.
06:21His day to start would be Wednesday.
06:22Right.
06:22So, you want to push him back from Friday to Wednesday?
06:26You want to do that to him?
06:28I mean, is it...
06:29Let him start Friday and come back up.
06:31What if you let him start Friday and he throws two innings and then you take him out?
06:36Or let him start Friday down there and bring him back up to let him start Thursday.
06:41Are they...
06:41So, they're off Thursday.
06:43So, then, yeah.
06:43Then it would work out.
06:44He could pitch Friday and then come back and essentially pitch the next Friday, depending
06:50on how they want to juggle it.
06:52Right?
06:53I'm so confused.
06:54Yeah.
06:56I'm so confused.
06:57It's above my pay grade.
06:59The math ain't math, man.
07:02We're not supposed to have to make this decision right now, man.
07:06It's April 1st.
07:08Zach Eflin.
07:09Down.
07:11At the three and two-thirds innings.
07:15I'm just thinking about it.
07:17You know, and I know we did the promo.
07:19Every time we get to April, because my stepmother's birthday is August 1st and my mom's birthday
07:24is April 4th.
07:25So, I get the two A months and then I always get...
07:27The way I know it is like nobody's birthday is on April Fool's Day.
07:31So, like, I sit here and I go, okay, it's April 1st.
07:36That means my mom's birthday is in three days.
07:38Rob's talking about going up to Pittsburgh.
07:40You take my mom out for her birthday on Saturday.
07:42That's why he's not coming to the fan-iversary.
07:43Yeah, that's right.
07:44He told me.
07:45So, you went all the way around that conversation to go back to the promo that we did?
07:48It's for Sean's birthday.
07:49Huh?
07:49It's for Sean's birthday today.
07:52What?
07:53I don't believe that.
07:54It is.
07:55He's April Fool's kid.
07:56Is he?
07:56Can't you tell?
07:57Foolish.
07:58He's April Fool's dude.
07:59Today's his birthday.
08:00Now, you're going to join us early because Jeremy wants you to be in here for World of
08:03Stupid.
08:03Evidently, some kind of epic World of Stupid.
08:05Do you pay me?
08:06I don't know if it's epic.
08:07Yeah, I got you.
08:10Everybody else is getting laid off.
08:11I'll take care of you.
08:11We're going to pay.
08:12I'm going to pay you an oil ticket.
08:14By the way, that's one of the...
08:16Are we teasing the World of Stupid now?
08:18Yeah, we are.
08:18Okay.
08:19I didn't want to jump the gun.
08:20Go ahead.
08:21We're going to talk about a lot of the layoffs that are happening around the country.
08:24That's why I wanted to get your guys' take on this because I think we're in for a lot
08:28of trouble with people losing their jobs, the prices that have gone up.
08:31We need to discuss it.
08:32Also, two plane stories.
08:35Women that refused to pay for the extra bag.
08:37So they said, guess what?
08:38You don't get to fly now.
08:40And an update on the lady that left her dog at the airport.
08:42Yeah.
08:43And we're also going to talk about cross-dressing.
08:45I don't know if you guys saw this.
08:47Christy Gnome's husband has great boobs.
08:49I'll explain when we come back.
08:50They go outside.
08:51The World of Stupid.
08:52That's coming up next.
08:53That's coming up next.
