00:00Gravity's Union. It's sort of what informed the process that is sort of
00:05happening now in the records that we're putting out. You know, we're really sort
00:09of tributing the demo process, the writing process of the song. So any
00:14records you hear now, you kind of have a bit of the inception of the song. You
00:21know, that one to me personally, it combines my fear of driving with also
00:29the loss of my uncle. Years and years ago when I was much younger, my
00:34grandfather experienced the car accident of his son, and I feel like somehow in,
00:40you know, the family, that sort of spilled into my, you know, my fear of driving.
00:48You know, and so that's a big one. So I find myself not driving very
00:53much just because I don't want to accidentally hurt anyone that might be
00:58a passenger in the car. It's tough to say if Gravity's Union is a fan
01:02favorite. I mean, I think it is. I know it's a favorite to me just because, you
01:06know, it's I think the composition is very interesting. It's the song that I knew
01:12when I wrote it that would really benefit, you know, Josh coming into the back into
01:19the band. There's just something about it, like from the vocal delivery. I mean,
01:23that is from the demo. That is the day I wrote the song. I was sick. I thought I
01:27couldn't, there was no way I was going to recreate that character in the studio. So
01:32I decided to keep that. You know, even the rig that I used to record the guitar,
01:40which was a, it was like a Steph Carpenter eight string into a Death by Audio
01:46Interstellar Overdrive into a PV Special 130. Like, I remember this stuff because this is the day I wrote it.
01:53You know, it's the stuff that I don't remember when we go into the studio and
01:56later try to recreate. I feel like that, to me, I'm not really connected to nearly
02:01as much as the day I write these songs. So that's what I find so special about
02:05that song because, you know, we ended up kind of doing that process with the later
02:09records. Cyrus Amory is loosely based on my grandfather. So when in the 70s his son
02:16was, you know, got into a terrible car accident. My grandfather was the one that was in
02:21the ambulance with him when his son passed. And, you know, it was very, very rarely was
02:28it talked about in the house. And so when I created the character of Cyrus Amory, I
02:33gave bits of my life and the experiences of my family to that character. And, you
02:39know, one was that car accident. And in that car accident was instead of it being the
02:46son, it was actually the wife with child, who also my grandfather lived 40 years of
02:53his life without his wife. So that was the connection, you know. But yeah, it's an
02:59experience that the character Cyrus has, but it's very much based on the
03:03experiences my life, my family have gone through.
