00:00It was his putting throughout the entire week and the stat I'm going to give you now is going to
00:04blow you away from from 10 to 15 feet this week.
00:09Gary Woodland was batting 80 percent, eight out of 10.
00:13Just something that, you know, I would say 10 to 15 feet if you had 10 putts, I would say
00:20the average on tour would probably be somewhere between 20 to 30 percent.
00:24So he made 80. So if we're going to look at key areas of of how he got it done,
00:31it's that mid range putting that led the way that 10 to 15 foot range, because this was a week
00:38to where you're not going to hit it quite as close.
00:40Yes, you're going to be able to take advantage of the par fives, hitting hitting long drives and irons into
00:44these par fives.
00:45But it's the par fours and the par threes that you're going to have these mid range putts.
00:51And he was the best at it, clearly this week.
00:53Yeah, breaking it on tour, I think it's like right around eight feet, maybe slightly, slightly under eight feet.
00:57So to make 80 percent from an additional two to five feet to seven feet is insane.
01:03Is it I read at one point he was working with Phil Kenyon. Are they still together?
01:06Yeah. So anything you heard from Phil along the way?
01:08I know you talked to him for a number of other players, but specifically what they were working on, the
01:11putting that kind of made a change for him.
01:13Well, I know he's heavily relied on his caddy, Butchie, for for reading putts.
01:17So that's obviously gives him more clarity with his green reading, just having somebody else verify his reads.
01:24And Butchie obviously being a very good player in his own right.
01:27You have to see that as something as an advantage for Gary.
01:31But I think his technique has gotten a lot better.
01:34When we had down the line shots of Gary, it was interesting because it was, you know, just all of
01:39his lines were matched up perfect.
01:40But the one note I'll pass along is that he changed putters at Sawgrass a couple of weeks ago.
01:46Let's go.
01:46But it was tinkering for the reason of it wasn't trying to change his stroke.
01:52What what they had figured out was that he was aiming too far left.
01:56And instead of trying to manipulate things, they said, well, OK, you're aiming too far left and you keep shoving
02:05putts.
02:05So that was the problem that they identified.
02:08So what instead of trying to change the putting, they went and said, all right, let's see if we can
02:13find a putter that'll help you wind things up better.
02:15So they went to a center shafted option that had a line that helped him be able to line it
02:21up better and initially started to see some results.
02:24Putted well at Valspar last week, missed the cut at Sawgrass.
02:27But clearly this week his lines were matched up.
02:31He made so many putts that mattered.
02:34So sometimes a putter change a couple of weeks ago leads to confidence that ultimately was the big benefactor for
02:43him this week winning.
