The story of Nathanael's transformation into a disciple through a seemingly innocuous encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, and how through the "coincidences" and small details of life, we can often find God speaking to us in those moments- if we have hearts to listen. For Nathanael, it starts with his simple willingness to say YES to an invitation to "COME AND SEE".

@TheChosenSeries does such a wonderful job helping to give a different way of entering into the Scriptures that many have found helpful and transformative for their prayer lives, taking what was a few verses in Scripture and adding (plausible) narrative flair in order to present these stories in way that is relatable and memorable.

This is a condensed version of The Chosen Season 2, episodes 2, highlighting the storyline of Nathanael's encounter with Jesus that takes it's inspiration from John 1:44-51. May it bring you faith and joy to you today, I pray.

00:25I need the seawater for the cement, Leontes.
00:27It'll take three days.
00:29You can't stop construction for three days.
00:31Is it because I'm Jewish?
00:33No, Nathaniel.
00:34It's not because you're Jewish.
00:36I've been telling you, and anyone I can get to listen.
00:39I even told the prince I need that saltwater that the cement won't set to full strength.
00:45Seawater's heavy.
00:46It's hard to move.
00:47Understand?
00:48Plans are hard to draw, bedrock hard to reach.
00:50It's all hard.
00:51But your incompetence is making it harder.
00:54You fool.
00:54Hey, I'm just telling it like it is.
00:55Three days, Nathaniel.
00:56You're in no position to make demands.
00:58You're lucky enough to have this job.
01:00That's why I have to demand what I need, Leontes.
01:02Do you know how hard I've worked to earn a Roman commission as a Jew?
01:07You're a child that skipped the line.
01:09The men don't respect you for that.
01:12Skipped the line?
01:14Just because I was smart enough to go to school instead of getting money?
01:17Twenty men show up every day.
01:19Who cares what they think?
01:20I care.
01:21They need to share a vision.
01:23They need to each do their jobs.
01:24The day laborer, the craftsman, the foreman, and the architect.
01:28Yes.
01:29In concert with me.
01:31Who do you think you are?
01:32I am the foreman here.
01:33You think that if everyone would just do it your way, that it will all turn out?
01:38I do.
01:39Well, people have their own ideas.
01:40Come on, baby.
01:42Come on!
01:52Come on, baby.
01:53Come on.
01:54Come on, baby!
01:55Pick him up!
01:57Pick him up!
01:57Go on, mate!
01:59Let's eat it!
02:00You're ruined!
02:00Do you hear me?
02:01It's over!

03:20You're the strongest and cheapest.
03:32Was something wrong, friend?
03:37Yes.
03:45Did someone die?
03:50Yes.
03:53I'm sorry for your loss.
03:58Was it sudden?
04:02I think it was a long time coming for him.
04:10But it felt sudden.
04:15Tell me about him.
04:21He was an architect.
04:25That's what he wanted to be his whole life.
04:29Sad.
04:31He came from nothing.
04:35Worked his way up.
04:37Loved God.
04:45He wanted to build synagogues eventually.
04:50No, that's not very popular around here.
04:58One with colonnades that sing.
05:01Parapets that practically pray.
05:04Wanted halls that draw the soul upward to God.
05:09That's what God made him for.
05:19Or so he thought.
05:23He sounds like an ambitious guy.
05:29What did he die of?
05:33Hubris.
05:41It's me, by the way.
05:45I'm the dead man in the story.
05:47Yeah.
05:49Yeah, I got that.
05:53Just wanted to be clear.
05:54All right.
06:24Let's go.
06:24Let's go.
06:24Let's go.

07:19Let's go.
07:28Let's go.
07:37Let's go.
07:44Hear my prayer, O Lord.
07:51Let my cry come to you.
07:58Let my cry come to you.
08:13Answer me.
08:14Answer me speedily in the day when I call.
08:24No?
08:30This was done for you.
08:36Do not hide your face from me.
08:42Do you see me?
08:51Let's go.
09:02Let's go.
09:04Let's go.
09:08Let's go.
09:10Let's go.
09:18Let's go.
09:24Let's go.
09:31Let's go.
09:32Let's go.
09:44Let's go.
09:56Let's go.
10:14Let's go.
10:15Let's go.
10:17Let's go.
10:27Hey.
10:29Hey.
10:30Hey.
10:32Are you sick?
10:34What's going on?
10:35Flip?
10:36Yeah.
10:37Why are you in bed?
10:40What happened, my friend?
10:41Are you okay?
10:42Sure.
10:45Hi.
10:47We need to get you some water.
10:55I am truly sorry, my friend.
10:59No one was killed.
11:01It could have been worse.
11:02I could be in prison.
11:04I'm still proud of you.
11:07I've lived through you at times.
11:09You know that?
11:10Through me?
11:12Yes.
11:14I'm living through you, man.
11:16I mean it.
11:18What part?
11:20Going to classes endlessly.
11:22Dealing with bureaucrats day in and day out.
11:25I skipped that part.
11:28I mean the part about building something with your own hands.
11:36I had a calling.
11:38I don't regret it, but while you were in the city being validated
11:42by top professionals.
11:45I was in the wilderness.
11:49It's a lot of yelling.
11:52I don't deny occasionally being jealous that you had actual physical evidence to show for your efforts.
12:00It's a pile of rubble.
12:03You don't know what your impact was or will be.
12:05I have a good idea what it'll be.
12:08A cold day in Gehenna before they hire another Jew.
12:16I thought I knew where God was putting me, too.
12:22Yeah.
12:28So what are you doing here?
12:31I thought you were out making enemies all over the place.
12:33I'm about to make a whole lot more enemies all over the place.
12:36John sent me to someone new.
12:38Oh, you sure know how to pick him.
12:40It's not just anyone.
12:41That's what you said about the baptizer.
12:42And I was right.
12:43But this is more.
12:49This is who the baptizer has been preparing us for.
12:54Nathaniel.
12:58He's the one.
13:00The one.
13:03The one who Moses foretold and the prophets said would come.
13:08The one.
13:13The one.
13:17Jesus of Nazareth.
13:19Son of Joseph.
13:22Nazareth.
13:28Can anything good come out of Nazareth?
13:31Come and see.
13:32Little dump on a craggy hilltop.
13:34I'm serious.
13:35No paved roads.
13:37No public buildings.
13:38They barely have a synagogue.
13:40You can't.
13:41You really can't.
13:42Hey, I'm just telling it like it is.
13:43Why can't I do that?
13:44Because you're mean.
13:46The families.
13:47Illiterate day laborers and peasants, by the way.
13:49Sleep under the same roof as their livestock.
13:52Listen to me.
13:52Honestly, Philip.
13:53Saying the one is a Nazarene is practically it.
13:58Just...
13:58Come and see.
14:02I...
14:03What?
14:04You gonna be late for work?
14:08Wow.
14:10That's dark.
14:13So dark.
14:17Your whole life, you've wanted to serve God.
14:22To meet the Son of God, the King of Israel.
14:27I promise you will not regret it.
14:30And if you do, I'll refund your misery.
14:36But I know you.
14:37You don't mess around.
14:40You will want to join him.
14:43He's like no rabbi who ever has been, or will be.
14:54I've never seen you talk like this.
15:02I'm still hung up on the Nazareth of a talk.
15:08Come and see.
15:11Come and see.
15:26Rabbi.
15:27Rabbi.
15:29Well...
15:31This is a good night.
15:33Do you know who stands beside you there?
15:36This is my friend.
15:38Nathaniel.
15:39Yes.
15:40The truth teller.
15:42I'm sorry?
15:44Man is often deceitful.
15:47And Israel began with Jacob a bit of a deceiver, yes?
15:54Yes.
15:56But one of the great things about you
15:59is you are a true Israelite.
16:02In whom there is no deceit.
16:07What did you say about that?
16:11What is this?
16:14How do you know me?
16:16I have known you long before Philip called you to come and see.
16:20Don't look at him.
16:21Look at me.
16:28When you were in your lowest moment,
16:31and you were alone,
16:35I did not turn my face from you.
16:42I saw you under the fig tree.
16:46I saw you.
16:54Rabba.
16:57There it is.
17:03You are the son of God.
17:06The king of Israel.
17:10I knew it.
17:12Well, that didn't take long.
17:15He doesn't mess around.
17:18Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, you believe?
17:25You are going to see many greater things than that.
17:29Like Jacob, you are going to see heaven open
17:33and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.
17:42That's me, by the way.
17:47Yeah, I got that.
17:49Good. I know you like to be clear.
17:55Rami!
17:57Sorry to interrupt, but John just arrived with a message from Syria.
18:02He came back?
18:03Yeah. He said people are already gathering to meet you.
18:06Many with afflictions to be healed.
18:08Your fame is spreading. A good kind.
18:11You should rest.
18:12Rabbi, we should leave early.
18:15Thank you, boys.
18:24So, you wanted to help build something that would cause prayer and songs,
18:29something to bring souls closer to God, yes?
18:36Can you start tomorrow?
19:02Can you start tomorrow?
19:07Can you start tomorrow?
