00:00You can see the debris coming up here.
00:05Now the hill's getting bit. Now the hill's getting bit. All right, we're coming in.
00:09I've spent nearly 30 years of my life chasing storms. Through the chaos,
00:16the close calls, and the moments you never forget.
00:21Oh my God, dude. It all started back in 1997 in Ohio. My first chase, my first tornado,
00:29and from that moment on, I was hooked. Since then, the miles and the moments have added up.
00:35Nearly 1,000 total chases, over half a million miles driven, 476 tornadoes seen,
00:43and some days stand out above the rest. We are a mile south of 34. Southern Kansas, 2004,
00:50the start to something big. Another one. That one's on the ground.
00:56Northern Nebraska, 2014. Four EF4s, once in a generation.
01:03Two tornadoes ongoing right now. In Northeast Colorado in 2023, 19 tornadoes, one career
01:11defining event. There you go. Three funnels right now coming down. One of the most incredible
01:16tornado sites I have witnessed. But chasing isn't just about the storms. It's about the people you
01:22meet along the way. And the ones we've lost. A reminder that every chase carries risk and every
01:31storm deserves respect. Now, season 30 is underway. Tornado on the ground.
01:38And it's off to a hail of a start. I'll see you on the road for the 30th season.
01:44For AccuWeather, I'm meteorologist Tony Laubach.
