00:07Welcome to MojoPlays and today we're counting down our picks for the locations in gaming
00:12that were a nightmare to reach, either due to being incredibly well hidden or having
00:17outrageously difficult prerequisites. Keep in mind we're only including actual areas
00:22as opposed to out of bound content you can glitch to.
00:34Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:40the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:43Cathedral of the Forsaken, Elden Ring.
00:57The Lands Between has plenty of secrets to its name, including entire regions.
01:02Though none were darker than what lurks at the heart of this dilapidated place of worship,
01:06the Three Fingers, aka your one way ticket to unlocking the evilest ending of the bunch.
01:13But the path to the frenzied flame is no easy feat,
01:16since it involves traversing the subterranean shunning grounds.
01:19A labyrinth filled with monsters, winding tunnels and a million places to get lost.
01:32Beyond that, you'll have to fight a hard-hitting projection of Moog,
01:36find a secret entrance to the cathedral through the altar,
01:39before testing your tarnished platforming skills as you make your way down to the depths.
01:44Oh and uh, don't forget to lose the armour.
01:53Secret Garden, Shadow of the Colossus.
02:03What exactly lurks at the top of the Shrine of Worship?
02:06Well, if you want to find out for yourself, then you're going to have to get to climbing.
02:10Unfortunately, to find the beautiful garden that lurks at the peak,
02:13Wanderer is going to need a substantial amount of stamina.
02:16More that can be earned in a single playthrough.
02:18That means you need to either go hunting for the tails of lizards,
02:22or keep battling through every colossi over and over.
02:34If you want your stats to reach their maximum, it'll require about 4 playthroughs.
02:38Or, if you're cheap, you can keep loading up New Game Plus and kill poor Valus over and over.
02:44No matter which route you take, getting them gains is no quick feat.
02:55Top of the mountain, getting over it with Bennett Foddy.
03:07There have been few rage games in recent memory that broke the minds of gamers everywhere,
03:12quite like getting over it.
03:14A platformer where you, as a man stuck in a cauldron armed with nothing more than a hammer,
03:19must ascend the most impossible terrain until you make it to the top of a makeshift mountain.
03:25What's the feeling like? Are you stressed? I guess you don't hate it if you got this far.
03:29Feeling frustrated? It's underrated.
03:32It is brutal, unforgiving, and worst of all, the game will bombard you with Bennett Foddy's narration
03:38as he unleashes quotes from philosophers. Or just offers words of encouragement at your lowest moment.
03:44Which, ironically, just adds fuel to the fire. The purposeful jankiness of the climbing mechanic
03:49ensures that only those with ungodly determination and a steady hand will be able to reach the end game.
03:55And even then, their sanity may not have survived the trip.
03:57I dedicate this game to you, the one who came this far. I give it to you with all my
04:05love.
04:06Bottom of the Pit Mortal Kombat
04:14The MK franchise is famous for its secret characters and stages, but one of the most infamous
04:19occurred all the way back during its earliest fighting days. For the chance to unlock Reptile and
04:23battle him at the depths of the pit, you have to leap through some bloody hoops.
04:30You have to be taking on the CPU solo, you have to be fighting in the pit stage,
04:34not block once during the entire fight, score a double flawless victory, end the whole thing with
04:40a fatality, and a silhouette must pass over the moon at some point. Hard to tell if this was a
04:45visionary piece of game direction, or Ed Boon laughing at us.
04:55Flawless victory. Ash Lake, Dark Souls.
05:09From Software have been hiding games under our noses for nearly two decades now, and one of their
05:14earliest successes came from the game that launched them into the stratosphere of mainstream popularity.
05:20What makes Ash Lake so tricky to find is just how obscure the path is.
05:30Starting off in every Souls player's favourite area of Blight Town, you have to navigate your way
05:35through the poison swamp to the top of a large nearby tree, where you'll have to carve your way through
05:39two, that's right, two hidden doors, leading you to the Great Hollow. From there it's simply a case of
05:46a leaping down the branches and dealing with the abundance of basilisks and sentient mushrooms,
05:51and voila, you've arrived in Ash Lake. Have fun dealing with the Hydra.
06:15The Green Hill Zone is almost as iconic as the Blue Hedgehog himself. It's one of gaming's most
06:20recognisable and beloved opening areas, perfectly setting the stage for what's to come. So it's
06:26only natural Sega would want to make callbacks to Sonic's origins in later games, though for some
06:31reason they decided to make it absurdly difficult to access here.
06:42Not only do you have to achieve an A rank across all levels in both campaigns,
06:46that means you have to earn all 180 emblems. These consist of beating each area on a harder difficulty,
06:54finding a hidden Chao, time trial, snagging a certain number of rings, etc. And that's not
06:58mentioning the emblems you unlock via minigames and everything to do with the Chao Garden.
07:03Sonic is all about speed, but unlocking this stage requires an immense amount of patience.
07:09Sonic is all about speed, but also has a lot of confidence in the game.
07:14Sonic is all about power and power and power.
07:16Inside the secret door, Demon's Souls.
07:26FromSoft is added again, though this particular area is a new inclusion, courtesy of Bluepoint.
07:31Turns out that the Demon's Souls remake not only scrubbed away a lot of the precursor
07:35soulspawn's rough edges, but also introduced something new for inquisitive players to uncover.
07:40A mysterious door.
07:45The clues to unlock it were slim, but the truth eventually came to light, and it was a doozy.
07:51Turns out you need 26 ceramic coins, which will take you two playthroughs given that only half of
07:56the coins can be obtained in a single go. And it's not like they're all that obvious either,
08:01on account that many are hidden within different world tendencies.
08:03It's one hell of a treasure hunt, but knowing that the Penetrator's armor is
08:07waiting for you behind that door almost makes it worthwhile.
08:18The End of Laser Hell, Split Fiction
08:30Oh Yosef Barris, you mad lad. This whimsical co-op thrill ride was so varied in presentation
08:35that we barely had any time to look for secrets, even though there were a few scattered about.
08:40Though none compared to the gauntlet that was laser hell. First of all, you had to figure out the
08:45puzzle to activate it in the first place, using a button pad and binary code.
08:57Though that's nothing compared to the amount of laser traps this level will be throwing at you.
09:02Just for one person, traversing so many laser based obstacles would have been tough.
09:06But to have to coordinate with your partner in perfect sync in order to reach the end,
09:10the difficulty spike is immense. So much so that if you somehow manage to reach the end,
09:15you get a personal video recording from Farris himself to congratulate you.
09:21Wow. Amazing.
09:24Land of Storms Hollow Knight
09:32If you thought reaching the end of the Path of Pain was trying, then you haven't seen anything yet.
09:37The Land of Storms itself is a mysterious sub-area, only available through Godhome,
09:42the main hub of the Godmaster DLC. For lore lovers, it's a treat, but the key to unlocking it
09:47is enough to make our souls shrivel.
09:56You need to best all the pantheons with all bindings attached. What does that entail? It means taking
10:02on five boss rushes, one of which contains over 40 bosses in a row, all of which are absurdly challenging.
10:10While the bindings remove your charms, lower your health as well as your damage output. Best of luck,
10:16because only the most masochistic would dare to take on this challenge.
10:27Big Bunny Island. Animal Well.
10:38There are so many secrets baked into the bones of this indie darling that fans are still unsure if
10:44they've uncovered everything. But among all the mysteries lurking inside this eerie pixelated
10:48wilderness, most are in agreement that the hardest to find was Big Bunny Island, given how outrageously
10:54intricate the process is. Naturally, it involves bunnies. A lot of them.
11:05Here we go. First things first, beat the final boss. Then scour the entire area until you've got your
11:11claws on all 64 eggs. Then you take the hidden 65th egg to an incubator, which will lead you back
11:17to the
11:17final boss. Only now you have to ride it as it takes you to a hidden area beyond the clouds.
11:23From there, you have to find 16 bunnies that are so well hidden that you have to be a part
11:27-time data
11:28miner to figure out their exact locations on the first try.
11:37And then, after all that, you have to use the cryptic directions involving the way each of the bunnies
11:42ears are pointing, which will give you the directions needed to ride the final boss again, all the way to
11:48a floating island with a secret temple that houses a secret giant bunny. Holy shit.
12:04Which of these secret locales had you pulling your hair out? Let us know in the comments.
12:09Wow. Amazing. You have to understand this challenge, there are barely people in our team that can make it.
12:17It took us a lot of time to finish it. And I'm telling you, this is a crazy, crazy achievement
12:22you have done.
