00:26Before we begin, we publish new videos all week long.
00:29So be sure to subscribe to MojoPlays and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:35Sonic Colors
00:45Normally, 3D Sonic games have been a total bust, whether it was due to awful optimization, boring gameplay, or, you
00:53know, just being bad in general.
00:56Sonic Colors is not one of those games. On the contrary, Sonic Colors is one of the better 3D Sonic
01:02games thanks to its captivating visuals and focused blend of speed and style.
01:07Sonic Colors
01:13As for the Wisps, they offered up new ways to interact with environments, leading to some of the most creative
01:22and exhilarating level design the blue blur had seen in years.
01:26And if you want to try this Wii gem for yourself, they did put out a remaster on modern hardware.
01:32Yeah, that's pretty much how we spend our time.
01:34Sonic Colors
01:43It's not every day you see a new IP from the likes of Capcom.
01:47Unfortunately, Sonic Colors would be overshadowed by a certain plucky plumber and his galactic mustache, but we'll get to him
01:55later.
01:55Sonic Colors
02:06Despite not selling remarkably well, the game went on to be nominated for and win numerous awards from various publications
02:13for its charming characters, unique gameplay mechanics, and beautiful art style.
02:18To this day, the few who got to experience this have been clamoring for a sequel, or at the very
02:23least, a port, for this underrated title.
02:35Muramasa
02:36The Demon Blade
02:45If you have never heard of this title, well, we can't really blame you.
02:50Much like Capcom's Kid Pirate and Monkey, Muramasa The Demon Blade did not sell many copies.
02:56That doesn't take away the quality of the game, though.
02:59Muramasa employs a combat system with simplistic controls, allowing anyone to pick up a controller and start to land insanely
03:07quickly.
03:07Cool attacks and combos.
03:13Couple that with a breathtaking art direction and narrative, and Muramasa is a fantastic action RPG that absolutely needs to
03:22come back.
03:23Or, you could always just try to port it for modern consoles.
03:26Just saying, Vanillaware.
03:28This is something that is a place where they want to pose this...
03:37Wario Land! Shake It!
03:40Ha ha ha ha!
03:44Our garlic-munching gremlin of a man had quite the presence on the Wii, and one of his best
03:49outings was Wario Land Shake It.
03:52Before Shake It, we had only seen Wario Land on handhelds, so we weren't sure how well
03:56the series formula would hold up on a home console.
04:06Well, Shake It became a treasure on the Wii, thanks to its implementation of
04:11the console's motion controls.
04:13Shake the Wiimote to punch the ground and activate mechanisms, or shake bags of money and litter
04:18the screen with coins and gems.
04:20Or rattle enemies about to annoy and stun them.
04:24Whichever use you prefer, Shake It was just a blast to play.
04:34Red Steel 2
04:42The first Red Steel may have been rough on the eyes, but we're willing to forgive and forget
04:47since the Wii and motion control gaming were still brand new at the time of its launch.
04:52Its sequel, on the other hand, achieved what its predecessor tried in making you feel like
04:56a badass.
05:00About time you boys showed up, I'm down to three bullets.
05:04The action was more energetic here, as you clashed swords with enemies and deflected bullets
05:09like they were nothing.
05:10Even if the story wasn't as strong as it could have been, Red Steel 2 still managed to show
05:15the technical feat in the Wii's motion control technology.
05:19Thanks.
05:20Thanks a lot.
05:21Where have you guys been?
05:23Kirby's Epic Yarn
05:30Kirby's Return to Dream Land was the perfect easy platformer to play with friends with
05:34its focus on 4 player co-op.
05:36However, Kirby's Epic Yarn just hits a little different.
05:39Was it the unique visuals and art style that mimics the flair of an arts and crafts table?
05:45Was it the various forms of yarn that Kirby and Prince Fluff could take form of?
05:49The focus on 2 player co-op?
05:51The drive to collect all furniture and patches?
05:53Or was it simply because this game was just too gosh darn cute?
06:06Whatever the reason, Kirby's Epic Yarn was an absolute pleasure to experience and it's
06:11hard to really feel down when playing something this charming and easygoing.
06:24Mad World!
06:26Let me make this perfectly clear.
06:28Wii have no intention of giving in to any such demands.
06:34The era of the Wii was kind of a turning point for Nintendo as the company wanted to focus
06:39more on a family-friendly image.
06:42Makes sense given how many parents were having to buy the console for their kids and their
06:46grandparents.
06:47So imagine seeing an edgy and gory game like Mad World on the store shelves.
06:53Seems out of place, but damn was this an awesome game!
07:04As Jack Kamen, players could rip apart enemies with their chainsaw arm and off them with gruesome
07:11environmental hazards.
07:13It had a comedic grit that no other Wii game was attempting to replicate at the time.
07:17It was visceral, it was over the top, and we loved every second of this bloodthirsty game.
07:27I'll murderalize you!
07:31Wii Party!
07:39While Mario Party was normally the go-to for party games, the Wii didn't exactly have a home
07:45to offer the franchise, with Mario Party 8 and 9 being widely disliked by fans.
07:50So Wii Party had to be the alternative, but it was a really good alternative.
08:01Along with the typical board game style game mode, players could compete by traveling the
08:06world and grabbing photos, spinning roulette wheels to win the most tokens, claiming Miis
08:11to match shirt patterns, or even play a simple game of Bingo.
08:15And it was all packaged with a great collection of minigames, providing hours and hours of
08:21fun with friends and family.
08:38And if you wanted to keep the party train moving, you most likely kept coming back to one of the
08:43best games in the WarioWare franchise.
08:46Smooth Moves wasn't just a tech demo for the Wii's motion controls.
08:49It utilized those controls in fun and interesting ways.
09:00It was more of the weirdness from the GBA and DS installments, but with a spin on tilting,
09:05spinning, shaking, and gesturing, sometimes with the nunchuck attachment included.
09:10Additionally, it came with some incredibly fun modes to break up the micro-game mayhem,
09:15like Pioro S and Bungie Buddies.
09:26Fire Emblem, Radiant Dawn.
09:41Of course we had to put a Fire Emblem game on here.
09:44Have you played these games?
09:45The tactical RPG franchise has long been known for its challenging permadeath mechanic and
09:51exceptional level design.
09:58Some may complain that Radiant Dawn doesn't change enough, while others cite the game changes
10:03too much in other aspects.
10:05Even so, we couldn't find much to complain about with Radiant Dawn.
10:09The visuals may not have been a significant difference after Path of Radiance on the GameCube, but the
10:14gameplay and story here still made it worth our hard earned cash.
10:25Metroid Prime 3 Corruption
10:38When Metroid Prime launched on GameCube in 2002, we had no idea it would become a phenomenon
10:44within the FPS genre.
10:46But how could it possibly translate to motion controls when not every Wii game was created
10:51equal in quality?
10:53We aren't quite sure ourselves, yet Corruption managed to conjure an FPS experience on Wii
10:58that retained the formula of its predecessors.
11:10The action was still fast and intense, controls were as fluid and responsive as the GameCube games,
11:15and the bosses still didn't hold back their punches.
11:18Corruption showed that there was a place for FPS games on the Wii, and even if the rest of the
11:23games industry didn't see that, there's no denying the technical prowess on display.
11:39Punch-Out!
11:43Punch-Out!
11:43Punch-Out!
11:46is, sadly, not a franchise that Nintendo seems to be touting around these days.
11:51The last time we saw Little Mac and Doc Lewis was in this 2009 reboot of our favorite NES
11:57boxing game.
11:58Once again, it was time to put up your dukes and go toe-to-toe with a colorful cast of
12:03contenders
12:04and champions.
12:14What made this reboot so unique, however, was how it utilized modern technology and animation
12:19to make a fully realized punch-out.
12:22Characters were much more expressive than they ever have been before, with every movement
12:27showing their personality.
12:28It was also less punishing than previous iterations, so you didn't have to worry about regression
12:32anymore.
12:33Perhaps we'll get to see Little Mac and Company again on, I don't know, Switch 2, maybe?
12:44The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.
12:56It may not be the most popular of the Legend of Zelda games, but Skyward Sword is still worth
13:01mentioning as one of the best games the Wii had to offer.
13:04From the cloudy world of Skyloft to the ability to fly around on Loftwings, Skyward Sword featured
13:11a new buffet of locations that were just as unique and intriguing as those that came before
13:16it.
13:24In terms of gameplay, Link was given some new tools that were also fun to use, such as the
13:30beetle, the whip, and the ability to bowl bombs.
13:32Sure, that last one is not everybody's favorite, and neither is the game itself.
13:37Even still, for what it is, Skyward Sword is a pretty solid title.
13:49Super Paper Mario.
14:00Some may dunk on Super Paper Mario for not being Thousand Year Door, particularly being
14:05the one that changed the franchise forever.
14:07Thing is that, even though the game is more of a platformer with RPG mechanics, the ideas
14:12it serves up are done really well.
14:22Along with challenging puzzles and robust mechanics with pixel abilities and changing dimensions,
14:28Super Paper Mario featured a story and cast that was just as good as its predecessors.
14:32On top of that, you had not only Mario to play as, but Peach, Bowser, and Luigi as playable characters,
14:40giving you new ways to explore levels and find hidden secrets.
14:44One could see the amount of love put into this.
14:51Super Smash Brothers Brawl.
14:53Look, we know Brawl isn't everybody's favorite.
14:56It's the slowest of the Smash games, it's not the prettiest, and it has frickin' tripping.
15:01Alright, we've heard the same three complaints all the time.
15:04Thankfully, it makes up for its shortcomings in other areas.
15:08When we weren't doing our usual classic mode runs or toying around with the stage builder mode,
15:13we were getting lost in the expansive and wondrous campaign, Subspace Emissary.
15:18This was the ultimate Smash Brothers adventure that we had been itching to see with our favorite characters,
15:23directly interacting with each other and kicking butt together.
15:27That alone was worth the $50 price tag, and no other Smash campaign has come close to achieving that level
15:33of awe.
15:34Plus, that Meta-Ridley boss fight on the Falcon Flyer, that was so cool, man!
15:41Tell me that wasn't cool!
15:42Mario Kart Wii.
15:49Sure, one may criticize the motion controls in Mario Kart Wii, but that's why you plug in a GameCube controller
15:55instead.
15:56Control preferences aside, Mario Kart Wii brought a lot of new and fun ideas to the table.
16:01Bikes added a new way to play with different drifting mechanics and allowed players to get a small speed boost
16:07by popping wheelies.
16:13On top of the increased roster in characters and vehicles, we also got a plethora of courses, new and old,
16:19that were marvels to race through like DK Summit, Coconut Mall, and Toad Factory.
16:24Really, how could anybody want to skip over this Mario Kart?
16:35New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
16:45Whereas the DS was getting a healthy amount of classic 2D platformers, the Wii was almost starved of it.
16:52Luckily, New Super Mario Bros. Wii came to satiate us.
16:55It was good ol' back-to-basics 2D Mario platforming that we had missed for quite some time, but with
17:01some new twists to mix in.
17:08New power-ups like the propeller and penguin suits gave us new abilities to jump and toy with,
17:13and the inclusion of co-op multiplayer brought a charming bit of mayhem.
17:17Come on, if you haven't chucked a friend into an enemy or pit, you're not playing this game right.
17:22Needless to say, every Mario fan should play this classic Wii title.
17:36Donkey Kong Country Returns
17:45If you found New Super Mario Bros. Wii to be too easy, well, Donkey Kong Country Returns certainly cranked up
17:52the challenge.
17:53A strange tribe of creatures known as the Tiki-Tak Tribe have hypnotized the wildlife on DK Island and stolen
18:00all of DK and Diddy's bananas.
18:02Show these vermin who's boss and retrieve those nanners.
18:08Developer Retro Studios really shined here by retaining the difficulty of the original Donkey Kong Country games
18:15through diverse level design and tricky placement of collectibles.
18:19Completionists may get a little bit of a migraine, but even with frustration, it's hard not to fawn over this
18:25one.
18:32Super Mario Galaxy
18:37It was really, really hard choosing between this and our number one entry.
18:45Make no mistake, Super Mario Galaxy is a splendid masterpiece of a game.
18:51The first Galaxy simply had so many concepts that few games had dared to try.
18:56And the way Galaxy executed them was so well done.
19:09Traversing levels while upside down, launching between multiple stars and planets, interacting with enemies and objects by spinning,
19:16they all meshed together for an epic space odyssey that none of us had anticipated.
19:22And lest we forget about the story of Rosalina, the climactic boss fights, and the ever-so-spectacular and magical
19:29score.
19:30After all this, you know folks were asking for a Galaxy 2, and yes, it was just as amazing.
19:36But not as amazing as our final entry.
19:51Wii Sports
19:59To some, this may seem like a confusing top pick.
20:03We're not recognizing Wii Sports for the number of copies it sold, but rather its innovation.
20:09Wii Sports was the premiere game that showed the technical prowess of the Wii, and how video games were about
20:14to change entirely.
20:15Well, at the time.
20:18This was the game that wrangled in crowds at mall kiosks, and the hype was so widespread that it birthed
20:24a whole new generation of gamers.
20:36Really, how many times did we all play bowling with friends and family, or break our TVs because the Wiimote
20:42slipped in the middle of golf?
20:43Wii Sports defined an era of gaming, one that dissolved the negative public perception and showed the hobby's true potential.
20:52That's why, it is the best Wii game ever made.
21:01Tell us, what is your favorite Wii game, and did it even make our list?
21:05I know mine did, but tell us what your pick is down in the comments below, and don't forget to

21:13every day.
