00:00Test your might
00:10Welcome to mojo plays and today we're taking a look at the 10 most incredibly stressful moments we have ever
00:16experienced in fighting games
00:23Before we begin we publish new videos all week long so be sure to subscribe to mojo plays and ring
00:29the bell to be notified about our latest videos
00:33Freefall combat mortal kombat versus dc universe
00:46MKVDC is by no means a good fighting game
00:49It's decent in some areas, but every step forward leads to two steps back in its design
00:55Although we'd be lying if we said we didn't have fun with the freefall combat mechanic
00:59These were tense moments where one player would be pressing buttons to deal additional damage
01:04While the victim had to press the same button as their rival in order to switch positions
01:08The whole sequence would turn into a frantic moment of button mashing for us until somebody finally took the damage
01:14or unleashed their super move
01:17Unfortunately, this cool idea has not been revisited in any of the Mortal Kombat or Injustice games that came after
01:24Surviving a powered up opponent power stone series
01:32Speaking of powered up moves the power stone games can be just as strenuous despite their more party centric approach
01:38to fighting games
01:39See in these games players had to acquire all three stones in order to transform into a more powerful version
01:47of their character
01:47What made this frightening is that much of the roster could take out their enemies with a single use thus
01:54ending the round
01:56Your only means of defense is by picking up weapons or making use of stage hazards like turrets
02:01Even then you kind of have to let the transformation run its course in order to survive
02:11The Great Maze Super Smash Brothers Brawl
02:23Obviously this whole fiasco is super easy when you have a guide telling you which doors lead to where
02:28But for those of us who wanted to figure it out ourselves as most game developers want you to do
02:34It was a harrowing feat
02:35The Great Maze basically takes a chunk of each region in Subspace Emissary and creates a hodgepodge labyrinth
02:42That's sure to cause confusion
02:44Some of us became so impatient that we wound up using a guide for the final stretch
03:01Slow Mo moments Tekken 7
03:09Tekken 7 introduced a lot of neat mechanics and touches that helped evolve the series beyond just being the 3D
03:15fighting game
03:16One aspect of the game that made fights even more thrilling was the slow motion effect
03:21This occurs when two players attack at roughly the same time while one of them is about to be KO'd
03:27For some this was a cool feature that helped show how some characters have a frame advantage when using certain
03:32moves
03:33For others, this was just an exciting way to keep Tekken fun to watch
03:37And it has helped make several EVO moments stand out over the years
03:41The feature became so popular that it has been carried over into Tekken 8
03:54Great, test your might
03:56Mortal Kombat series
04:06We gotta give Mortal Kombat another spotlight because the test your might minigames can get incredibly stressful
04:11To beat these minigames, you have to button mash until your meter reaches the required level
04:17Strike when it's too low or too high and you fail the minigame
04:21Trust us, this minigame can wind up becoming a lot harder than it sounds
04:25Especially if you're playing mk9's iteration of test your might
04:28Needless to say, this is one part of Mortal Kombat
04:31Where you are really just going to have to try, try, try, and try again
04:35TEST YOUR MIGHT
04:46Final Philia
04:48Skullgirls
04:55This can be one of the most grueling fights of your Skullgirls career
04:59More so than attempting to beat Marie 300%
05:02The thing is that Marie 300 is designed to be incredibly difficult
05:06The final challenge in Fukua's campaign, however, is way more defensive and aggressive
05:11Regardless of the difficulty you've chosen, Philia is always set to nightmare difficulty
05:16And cannot be timed out
05:18You have to beat her legitimately
05:21There is a way to cheese her with Fukua's overhead and projectile
05:25But even then, Philia will soon catch on and start trying to counter and close the distance
05:31This whole fight had our blood pressure rising
05:34I hated this fight
05:36This is the worst fight in all of Skullgirls
05:38BONUS STAGES
05:40STREET FIGHTER 2 THE WORLD WARRIOR
05:49Though an iconic moment in Street Fighter history
05:52Most people don't really talk about how tough the bonus round can be
05:56Admittedly, the oil drums are the easiest of the three bonus stages
06:00The car and the barrels, on the other hand, require precision and accuracy
06:04Which is easier said than done
06:06And with every passing second, some of us wind up in that loop of immense pressure
06:11And we start getting in our own head
06:12Sure enough, you're likely to mess up one attack or two
06:15But once you beat them in the final few seconds, you suddenly feel unstoppable
06:20Until you get to Bison, that is
06:23Activating Super Special
06:25Samurai Showdown
06:32The Super Special mechanic is absolutely one of the most stress inducing mechanics SNK has put into any of their
06:39games
06:39Once this meter has been filled up, the player can activate it and cause the background to change
06:44While they can still attack normally, they now have the chance to pull off a dash attack that can inflict
06:50a ton of damage
06:51Possibly ending the round in an instant
06:54Caveat emptor, because the game ending dash attack can still be blocked
06:59So, both players are on their toes for the entire time that this Super Special is active
07:04And if you whiff and run out of meter, you cannot use it again
07:08You have to make this shot count
07:17Event number 51, The Showdown
07:20Super Smash Brothers Melee
07:31Super Smash Brothers Melee can already be a super strenuous game on account of its high speed
07:37It requires you to have faster reaction times than the other games in the series
07:41But of all of the different fights in Melee, Event 51 has caused many to sweat by the millions of
07:48gallons
07:48This event forces you to fight Mewtwo, Ganondorf, and Giga Bowser in a 3 on 1 fight with only 3
07:55lives
07:56Even worse, the fight takes place on Final Destination, which is infamously known for being just a single platform
08:02You have nowhere to run, and nowhere to hide
08:05The only way odds are slightly in your favor is because all 3 opponents are just a tad weaker than
08:11when you fight them on 1 on 1 normal circumstances
08:15And even then, Event 51 doesn't come close to the most stressful moment that haunts fighters every single day
08:25FINISHING THEM
08:26FINISHING THEM
08:26MORTAL COMBAT SERIES
08:34We have all been down this road
08:37You get through an intense match, and somehow manage to come out on top
08:41Time for the coup de gras
08:43Your moment in the spotlight to finish off your opponent in the most gruesome way imaginable
08:48Just one problem
08:49You forgot the inputs
08:51You could have sworn it was this one until you realized you switched the directional inputs in the wrong order
08:56Or you pressed the wrong face button
08:59Either way, it sucks when you think you've got the finishing move down pat
09:03Only to end up putting out a dinky sweep kick or neutral punch
09:07Sure, we can still pause and check the move list
09:11But by the time you resume, you'll have almost no time for a second attempt
09:15Womp womp
09:16Finish him
09:18Johnny Cage wins
