Celtics secure playoff spot- Tatum seems to be shaking off rust. East contenders? East favorites? Does any team scare you in the East? Detroit? New York? Brad Stevens' front office magic is silently legendary.

00:00The Celtics clinched the playoff spot, and I will say this, that heading into the postseason,
00:06I like where this team is going, especially it looks like Jason Tatum is starting to knock the
00:10rust off a little bit. I know Shyam talked about the Bruins and where they were headed into the
00:15postseason and the way that they've been playing, but I think the Celtics team, as well as the
00:19Bruins, have done a great job, especially down here into the stretch. Jason Tatum starting to
00:24get more and more minutes underneath his belt and starting to knock some of the rust off.
00:29I think this is really excited for, especially not just Bruins fans, but if you're a Celtics
00:34fan as well, that this could be a really good, nice postseason run for both of these teams.
00:41And remind me, we talked about it last week, but nobody really scares you in the East.
00:45Not in the East.
00:46Maybe Detroit.
00:47I don't, because the issue was the Cade Cunningham, he collapsed long when he comes back, and then
00:53even if he comes back, what's he going to look like? So Detroit doesn't scare me at all.
00:58I know you lost with a healthy team last year to New York, but I just look at that like
01:04that was a series that I expected you to win. So yes, in the East, Greg, I would say that
01:09there's no team that really scares me.
01:11I kind of agree. Like, I think I'm a little bit more, I'm a little bit higher on Detroit
01:16than you are. But New York looks like they're spiraling, and it looks like you're going to
01:22at least have the number two seed in the postseason. I'll just say, like, I don't, I'm, I'm, what
01:29the Celtics have done with Brad Stevens, I think is one of the more impressive things that
01:35we don't talk about a ton. We kind of take for granted in sports around here, because
01:40you see somebody like Mike Vrabel come in, and he turns around this back-to-back four-win
01:45team to being some, a team that goes to the Super Bowl in the first year. And it's like,
01:49he's with Drake May, the biggest hero locally. Quietly, Brad Stevens went from being with a
01:57lottery team as a coach to then moving up to the front office and executing year in
02:04and year out. Not perfectly, but definitely at least an A-. And the Celtics have been in
02:11the playoffs every year that he's been part of the organization. Like, I don't know, that
02:16guy just, he is like a silent assassin with whatever he does.
02:20And like, kind of the transition right into the role of, you know, what is he, director
02:27of basketball operations or whatever he is. I think that role and what he's been able
02:33to do, whether it's bring in, when, you know, we talked about it, Drew Holiday, Chris Stapps,
02:37Porzingis, some of those guys, you know, shipping out Marcus Mott, you know, where a lot of people
02:42at the time were like, what are you doing? You're going after a guy like Vucevic this season.
02:48I think he's really done an unbelievable job as a front office guy. And, you know, he's probably
02:54one of the better guys in the NBA when it comes to, you know, when it comes to being a
02:58GM
02:58and making moves.
02:59Is he the most accomplished, modest person in the history of Boston sports?
03:03He is super modest.
03:05He never, I mean, Bill Belichick didn't openly praise himself, but he had six rings. He did
03:12all those NFL film stocks.
03:14He had a boat.
03:15Yeah, the six rings boat. And then now it's got six rings and the other one from the Bridgewater
03:20State cheerleading champs. But like, it's amazing. He does, it's not that he speaks and is modest.
03:27He like runs from attention.
03:29Yeah. He's really humble. He wants to stay. He wants to stay under the radar. He doesn't
03:33want none of the attention. So it's like Andy Ernie Adams, but actually the GM picking the
03:37players in terms of notoriety.
03:40It's also like Glenn Laird, very modest. You know what I mean? All right. So that wiggy
03:46great lead. Thank you.
03:48Jason Tatum had himself a nice little game last night against the Charlotte Hornets. He
03:52went for 32 points, eight assists and five rebounds in the game, a game without Jalen Brown
03:57and Jason Tatum talked about feeling like he might be kind of back after the game. Here
04:03was Jason Tatum. You hit the three in Bridges' face and then you had some words for the fans.
04:08What kind of was, can you describe what you were saying and what you were thinking at that
04:12time? It was just, you know, they went on a run, cut it to nine. The game was just, you
04:18know, super competitive at that point. And, you know, I just was, you know, I was a competitor
04:23in the moment. We could call the time out and we got some stops and made some plays to kind
04:28of like seal the game. It would be crazy to describe that, like saying that you were
04:32back. It was crazy to say, that's kind of what you were thinking when you were talking
04:35to, uh, I mean, no, it wouldn't be crazy to say.
04:42Yeah. I mean, why not? I mean, he's, uh, worked his butt off to get back to where he
04:48is. Right. Um, he ought to celebrate that. Yeah. And I think like, it is impressive for
04:53what he's been able to do. You know, we've talked about this a lot. Megal, you probably
04:58know more than anybody cause you're around the team all the time, but just to be able
05:02to see what he's been able to do coming back and, you know, playing the way he's been able
05:06to play. I mean, you think it's pretty impressive and coming to a team like the Celtics who, you
05:11know, look like they're going to potentially hold onto this two seed and you get a guy like
05:15that back. It's. There was a point in the second half yesterday where Tatum had the step
05:21back three and it was like way step back and he swished it. And I was like, damn, I didn't
05:27think we were going to see that until next year, because when you listen to Kevin Durant
05:30talk about coming back from his Achilles tear and he up to this point has really had the
05:35most successful comeback and he took the most time off. And he said, that's going to be the
05:40toughest thing for Tatum or Tyrese Halliburton coming back, hitting that step back three, having
05:46the lift, having the explosiveness there. And yeah, it may look like a little bit different
05:51mechanically, but to be able to see that from him when he's just over three weeks back
05:56from the return, you, you're, you have all like, maybe not necessarily through these
06:01playoffs, but I don't see why he can't be completely himself again.
06:04Right. Yeah. I mean, I like the one to drive. I always feel like when I see him drive to
06:08the
06:08hole, he had a nice drive to the hole, two hand bang out and goes through contact. Like
06:13I, I, I feel like, all right, that's when you kind of see it, but you know, Katie would
06:18know better than anybody. That's like, you know, he's cause he's got a couple of those
06:21step backs, you know, especially in yesterday's game. So
