00:01Our inspiration was to take the heritage that we have, create the ID.UNIX 08 and develop that for the
00:10Chinese customers to make it fit in China and let it shine in China.
00:15So we took the heritage from Wolfsburg, from our design history, but transformed it into a modern shape.
00:22And we tried to find out how far can we jump with this project and the result was the ID
00:29.UNIX 08.
00:33We developed for Europe a certain design DNA, but now we are talking about China and we had to make
00:40this fit to the Chinese market.
00:42And so we translated that and found out it needs to be vigorous, so powerful, really powerful, and then distinguished,
00:50which is a form of likeable.
00:53It's very unconventional, it's dominant, it's avant-garde. This is what we wanted to achieve.
00:59So we jumped really far, we had so much fun with the team to achieve this.
01:03We bring together the progress, the power of emotion and all of it, the connection to this project, but to
01:12the customer as well.
01:13We wanted to get this connection to the Chinese customer, make it fit to the market.
01:19Proportion is the main thing for exterior designers. If the car has a good proportion, everything else is much easier.
01:28So in the ID.UNIX 08, we have a very long bonnet and we have a cabin that is pushed
01:35to the rear.
01:36This gives the car a very cool, sovereign, light-back attitude.
01:41The Volkswagen is not aggressive. It's confident and it's strong.
01:45Below these huge, calm surfaces, we find an air intake, which almost looks like a Formula One wing.
01:52And really in the center, you find a little golden bit, which you can also find on the hood, the
01:58roof spoiler.
01:59There's a very special brake light with a little Wolf icon in it, which makes it really unique and outstanding.
02:11We have a tight cabin, wide shoulders, which renounce the good stance.
02:15The lights have the same attitude like in the front.
02:20They are slightly slanted, pointing to the center of the logo, to the global design strategy of Volkswagen.
02:28And also this golden center line, you will find in the interior. Everything is connected.
02:36The work on the ID.UNIX clay model was a crucial part in the design development process.
02:41And it helped the designers to shape these pretty new surfaces for the super cool Chinese car.
02:48And it also helped the board members to make the right decision and to judge the proportion of the model.
02:54For our ID.UNIX, we have two different communication colors.
02:59The first one is dusk-tide.
03:01For the second communication color, we have twilight purple.
03:05So when you look up into the skies and see the Milky Way, you see these purple clouds.
03:09So we put that into our body color.
03:12Both our communication colors are inspired by natural phenomenons.
03:16But basically every color about ID.UNIX is really special and expressive.
03:21Also the black one. It's not a random black color.
03:25We basically catched all those lights and put it into the midnight black color.
03:30And there are a lot of golden particles in it. So it fits the whole CMF concept really well.
03:37For the ID.UNIX, we plan something really special with the lights.
03:40And also the appearance of the small elements, the cut diamond elements we call them, should give the car more
03:47value.
03:48While we turn some of the triangles off and some on, this also gives the car not only really bold
03:55signature,
03:55it also gives the flexibility that the customer can have to choose between different signatures.
04:03Special design DNA, unique interior architecture and then state-of-the-art technology.
04:09This is something that's the best interior of ID.UNIX 08.
04:12The main idea of interior was to find the balance between two main concepts.
04:18First of all, introducing the longitude and sportiness.
04:22And the second one, to pronounce the roominess, to introduce the spaciousness.
04:28And to achieve that in interior, we come up with a new type of architecture.
04:33Let's define in two layers. On the upper layer, we have architecture that emphasize how spacious the interior is.
04:40In a layer below, you have an architecture that creates personal spaces.
04:45We have a good color scheme that emphasizes the contrast of the elements and supported by the ambient light as
04:52well,
04:53to make the whole element floating in the room.
04:56So it was really important that we have the holistic view of the product to have a cohesive interior.
