00:00You might as well not even order it in the first place, because you read just gone, nah, sit there
00:04and let it go to waste.
00:05When you set a goal, you are committing yourself to doing something different than you currently do.
00:09If you're someone who's sitting at home, for example, and you want to start working out, then you have to
00:14leave the house.
00:14You have to make a commitment to go to the gym or go for a walk outside, or whatever it
00:18is that you want to do.
00:19And by doing so, you are committing yourself to doing something different.
00:23And this is where we see the value in setting goals.
00:25It gets us to take action.
00:27And so if you don't want to sit around and do nothing, then you should set goals, because they will
00:31help you take action.
00:32But also, the flip side, is that if you do achieve your goal, if you do decide to take action,
00:37and you do end up achieving your goal, then what?
00:40Well, here's the thing.
00:41When you achieve a goal, it's supposed to make you happy, right?
00:44It's supposed to be something that you wanted.
00:46So if you achieve it and it doesn't make you happy, then there's something wrong.
00:50Either one, you didn't really want that thing, or two, you haven't allowed yourself to fully enjoy it yet.
00:55So when you achieve a goal, you need to take some time to celebrate it, you need to pat yourself
00:59on the back and be like,
01:00Hey, good job. I did it. This is awesome.
01:03Because if you don't allow yourself to feel the emotions of having achieved something, then it kind of becomes pointless,
01:09doesn't it?
01:09Because if you never take a moment to appreciate what you've done, then you might as well not have done
01:13it at all.
01:14And so the whole point of achieving a goal is to allow yourself to feel those positive emotions, to feel
01:19that sense of accomplishment.
01:20And so that's what you should do when you achieve a goal.
01:23Take a moment, celebrate it, enjoy it, don't just move on to the next one.
01:27Allow yourself to feel that sense of satisfaction.
