00:00Either way, we can be grateful that whoever named it didn't go with the more scientific term,
00:06the Great Filter. Scientists continue to refine their models of the Big Bang and inflation,
00:11but they've made some key predictions that can be tested with current and future experiments.
00:17For example, one prediction of inflation is that there should be some particles moving through
00:23space with a specific pattern of motion. If scientists can spot these particles,
00:28known as a stochastic gravitational wave background, it would provide strong evidence for inflation.
00:35Another prediction of inflation is that there should be some distortions in the CMB
00:40caused by the stretching of space-time during the rapid expansion.
00:45While scientists haven't detected these distortions yet, future experiments like the
00:50Simons Observatory and the Square Kilometer Array may be able to spot them. In addition,
00:57scientists can test the Big Bang theory by looking at how light from distant galaxies bends around massive objects.
